Andrea is a very welcoming person. She almost will sit down in the booth with you to help you decide the menu you items they have been known for now almost 30 years. With a name like Blue Ribbon Grill, come on what else are you gonna order? Tallboys $ 3.35. Bring ‘em on! The fried fish sandwich was the best. Ask for extra tartar sause. Reuben was a good one. The cheese was excellant.

I don’t know how to vote for this. I need a half a star for the 4.5 stars! Most all of my friends and I really like this place, we come here at least once a month, But I can’t give it 5 stars for some reason. First of all the burger is great! Nothing special, but a great solid big olé burger, always cooked right, and there’s never anything left when I’m done… maybe its because the bacon isn’t always crispy and sometimes I pull the whole slice out of the burger on my first bite. Or maybe because the fries are hit and miss, but usually right. What makes the Blue Ribbon Grille great is that almost everything I’ve had here has been good! The fish and chips is good, the meatloaf sandwich is good(one of their features) their deserts are great! Oh yeah, and they started doing a brunch on the weekends and it is great! I’ve only had the eggs and biscuits(or is it bacon? mine always is!) but it kinda covers it all by the time your done!

I’ve been there twice and been very happy with the food twice. The décor is dark, the staff is friendly and there are lots of regulars, all are indications of locals that are happy with the place. If I didn’t live over 100 miles away I’d probably be a regular too. I’ve had the meat loaf which was very good and the fish and chips which were great. My wife has had the fish sandwich which was great and the spinach salad with chicken which she also says was great. I think the fish and chips, while different, were almost as good as I had in Houth Ireland and that is high praise. The only thing I didn’t like on the fish and chips plate was the slaw which needed a better dressing.

I’m continually surprised that this place doesn’t get a terrible health report. The smell hits you the moment you walk in. Somewhere between very, very stale beer and a dirty diaper. Not exaggerating. I wonder if the people who work here can smell it after being inside exposed to it for so long. The food is fair. But it’s so old, gloomy and smelly inside that I usually decide to go elsewhere. I like to support small, local places. But the smell makes it very hard for me to do that here. Two stars is me being generous.

Let me preface this review by stating that I used to enjoy eating here and I truly hope that they can improve the quality of the food. It pains me to write this review because the front house staff is so kind and provides good service. This past Saturday night was my 3rd disappointing meal in a row. My partner and I arrived here at 830pm on a Saturday night and it was almost empty. Typically this time would be a 30 minute wait. It makes me wonder if other patrons are starting to experience the same issues with food. Pros — great service from Zeke. Clean table, nice atmosphere and easy to find parking. Cons — for years we have typically ordered the specials from the extra insert in the menu because it was indicative of truly fresh food cooked to perfection. Since Fall of 2015 we have now had numerous meals ranging from mediocre to awful. This past Saturday was awful! I ordered the special salad featuring grilled mahi glazed in honey balsamic on top of field greens and fruit with raspberry vinaigrette on the side. The mahi was cold and semi frozen/raw in the middle and Luke warm on the outside. It tasted like it was a frozen product that had not been sealed properly in the freezer and had picked up the taste of everything else in the fridge. My partners steak was Luke warm but somehow overcooked in the middle. It tasted and looked like it had been prepared way in advance and reheated in a microwave. The baked potato was so tough and leathery it was inedible. The entire meal we debated about whether to complain or not. They are such nice people and we really want this place to survive. In the end we chose to just get the bill and leave, we were both too tired from work to wait and speak to a manager. I do hope that the owners and management read the reviews on Unilocal and take the issue as fair and constructive criticism. Again, this was our third time being served food that should have never been served. Please, please train the kitchen staff so that I can make your business my «go to» place for dinner when I don’t feel like cooking!

Food was bland. Atmosphere was dingy and old. Very dark. Smelled like a cross between BO and mold. Their bragging rights about being around for so long are no longer any good because they need a make over!

I so wanted to like it, alas. Here’s the punk move: the waiter offered an unpronounceable name for a fish dish. I asked him what it was, exactly? He described a mild, non-fishy whatever. I ordered it. I say It was tilapia, and I say the heck with it. Also, it was not very good! My salad had slimy bits in it. The bread was not so fresh or flavorful. Oh yeah, my spouse got tiresome not-great fries. The menu was the kind of throwback where a vegetarian(which obviously I am not, but I like the vegetable a lot) cannot find much to choose. As if I had journeyed to Macon, or back in time. I’m so sorry, Blue Ribbon Grill. In general I adore long-lasting, down home institutions, with deep roots and charitable outreach. But you made a very poor impression on me that night.

Definitely want to support this wonderful local favorite. Besides consistently delicious food, they are supporting local causes, including Rebecca’s Tent. A shelter for homeless women. And, Zeke was a great server. Love good service!

We are regulars at BRG but I last night was a big disappointment. :(On a Saturday night around 7 pm the place is usually packed, and we always expect to wait for a table. Last night the place was almost half empty. Not a good sign. Our waitress(Tia?) was awful. She had no smile, did not listen to our order, and delivered the wrong items. My husband specifically asked if they had hard cider on draft and she said yes. Then she brought him a bottled cider. I asked for a martini with an upgrade on the liquor and she didn’t even ask me what I wanted. I gave her two choices and she said«OK.» What?!! I have no idea what my drink was made with and it tasted like the well version not an upgrade. I foolishly ordered the grouper special($ 20) and it barely filled me up. Tasted good but not the typical generous portions we are accustomed to at BRG. Our server was the biggest disappointment. I asked her if she was new and she said she had been there 7 months. One of the main reasons we love BRG is the service. We are used to being greeted with a smile and feeling of being welcomed. Last night was a serious disappointment. And the emptiness of the restaurant last night leads me to believe something may be shifting. Sad because we usually eat there about once a month and now that might change. What’s happening?

The food here isn’t impressive, but it’s not bad either. You could do worse. The bright side is that the portions are generally huge, and there’s a pretty good variety of things to get if you come back more than once.

We haven’t had the steak or anything the blue ribbon good grill is known for but they made a very good kids cheeseburger in my French onion soup was delicious. We will come back another time try the steak and have a martini. They are known for $ 7.49 martinis!

I had dinner with friends on Monday and let me just say this place is AWESOME!!! The food was beyond Delicious! I ordered the pork chops and they were moist and tender, collard greens were on point as well as the mashed potatoes. Oh and the corn bread was amazing and I usually don’t like corn bread lol! I love the fact that they also have a full bar so I can get my drink on as well. This place is Definitely going to see us back again and again!

Never, ever had a bad meal there. Staff is relatively attentive, but could do better. The bar area is good, but the regular dining area has a very small TV that you can barely see to watch a game with friends. Beer selection is good and the Reuben Sandwich with their homemade chips are the best in town. Gets crowded, so get there early.

This was my first time in Atlanta, Georgia and Blue Ribbon was absolutely delicious. The meatloaf tasted just like my mom’s, moist, flavorful. The ribs fell off the bone. And I tried the baked potato salad. Amazing!!! It was a potato salad made with sour cream and bacon bits. So good!!! Next time I come, I will try the fried fish. You have to try this restaurant.

I’ve been going to the Blue Ribbon for over 20 years. It is like Cheers at the bar. If you have to done by yourself, this is the place to go, but be warned … Sometimes it’s hard to find a bar stool available. They have such a regular and loyal clientele. The food is good, but large portions so bring your appetite. The servers are very interactive with the clients, which makes it a «feel good» kind of place. I highly recommend it.

Consistently delicious EVERYTIME! My only complaint: you have to walk through smoking area outside to get through the front door and if there’s no room inside for when you have to wait because it’s a popular place, you have to wait outside, with the cigarette smoke. I can’t handle cigarette smoke. It makes me nauseated, then I get a headache. Well, enough about me. Go to Blue Ribbon and enjoy!

IF I were able to give them a «0» {zero} I would on their poor customer service. I have a friend that went to work for this company last year and I’ve heard Outstanding things about the food… Well in all fairness, the food was Great!!! However, the service Sucked!!! I will never return. Be warned!!!

One of my neighborhood faves. This place has been around for almost 30 years for a reason. When you walk in, it’s a home grown, mom and pop vibe, but to me, the presentation of the food is like that of say… The Cheesecake Factory. Beautifully presented and super flavorful, it tastes like it was cooked with love. Try their crab cake salad, which is delicious. The Blue cheese burger is excellent with the crumbles and crisp, fried onions partnered with the awesome homemade fries. My very favorite, which I haven’t seen since my first visit, was the Softshelled Crab sandwich(a seasonal special). 5FREAKINSTARS for that one! I hope that someday they bring it back.

This was my first trip to Blue Ribbon Grill. And I will definitely be back if I am on this side of ATL. We were in town for a memorial service in Decatur. And the local family member said this was one of his haunts. The atmosphere is really cool. A ton of «Atlanta» stuff was all over the place. Historical, new, sports, etc. They were very accommodating for our large party. Although the waitress seemed a little disheveled from time to time. Their menu was VERY extensive. They had brunch going on. And their regular menu was covered with sandwiches, burgers, seafood, hot entrees, salads… so deciding what to get was the hardest part. We were told their go-to dish was the meatloaf. So I decided to get what they called the«meatloaf burger». I was thinking a slice of meatloaf about the size of a regular burger patty. But no… it looked like they put half of the loaf on a bun! It was HUGE. I would normally say that was a good thing. But it was nearly impossible to eat like a burger. But I managed. And it was worth it. Extremely delicious meatloaf. You could tell the fries were frozen out of a bag. But that was the only part that didn’t seem fresh. Next time I may have to try the brunch. No one was drinking alcohol. But those of us in the family who would be interested, noticed their mimosas and bloody mary’s were $ 2. So that will be another thing to explore on the next trip to Blue Ribbon Grill.

A great neighborhood bar and restaurant that’s very hard to beat. Great Pricing, a VERYGOOD bar, long list of martini’s — love it on Friday night, but be careful, we’re not the only ones who know about this place and it gets crowded. But that’s part of the charm. It’s not a bad crowd, just all of your neighbors stopping by for a drink and dinner!

Blue Ribbon is a very unpretentious restaurant and bar that serves up some of the best food: meatloaf, fried grouper, crab cakes, etc… They also have the best drink specials during brunch!

I took a group of 50 here for dinner on a Saturday evening. The waitstaff was friendly, courteous, and hard working, the food was fantastic, and the service was excellent. They got us in, seated, served, and out the door in an hour and a half — this during the Saturday evening rush period. I called ahead and reserved with the management, and they couldn’t have been more helpful. I am from South Georgia, so this isn’t a regular stop for me, but this is the second time I’ve taken a large group in, and I definitely will be back. I had the meatloaf burger, and I couldn’t *believe* the size of the hunk of meat on the bun! I highly recommend it! The advantage to having a group was that I got to see a lot of different entrees, and they all looked delicious.

This place is awesome! We sat at the bar and had a great time! The Blonde bartender has been there for 13 years and she is hysterical! Made us laugh the whole time! The jumbo wings are AWESOME! And you can even order just all drums if you like! The patty melt on marbled rye bread was FANTASTIC! We’ll be back!!!

Great family place to stop in for a quick meal. Home stile cooking and the food in not bad at all. Lots of room, but it can get very loud in here on the weekend around the bar, as lot of locals stop I for drinks and a quick meal. Great place to visit with really great food.

Crafters and knitters get out of my way! I’m not headed to Michael’s, I’m going next door to Blue Ribbon Grill. Opened in 1985, I’ve foolishly overlooked this neighborhood bar and grill until now. Our waitress made me feel like a regular, my fried grouper sandwich was crispy on the outside, moist inside and HUGE, and the fries were so good — definitely not an afterthought. Do you find joy in squeezing and dipping? I’m talking about condiments and spices. Dip those fries in frite sauce(mayo), sprinkle salt on your grouper and add a few dashes of hot sauce. The menu here is tempting(chicken pot pie, fish and chips, juicy burgers) and speaks to my savory heart. They’ve figured out the formula.
