Good service, except for the wait. We went at 11:00 am, were the only customers, yet we waited 40 minutes for our meal. The waitress was nice and checked on us regularly. Juices are canned. Yellow rice was seasoned well. Mofongo on the sweet side, drenched in sauce, and did not have the typical round shape. It was more like a bad mangu than a mofongo. Presentation was messy. If you know how a real mofongo is supposed to look and taste, you will be extremely disappointed. Overall left a lot to be desired. Gordon Ramsay, where you at?

Arguably one of my favorite places to eat in the atlanta area. I always pick an obscure meal and I’m never disappointed. The service is great, food always comes out quickly and they always give you large portions. I’m not much of a dancer but it’s great watching others dance and the music is always on point. Could not recommend it more n

The only reason this place gets 3 stars it’s because the food it’s amazing. The service on the other hand it’s horrible. The whole staff it’s always on a bad mood. It’s like it pains them to smile. No one ever knows what’s going on, if you order food to go it will take them 1 hour to get it together. If you are dining in your waitress will be lost in limbo no matter what day or time of the week you are there. Other than good food, and terrible service the place is decent, spacious which it’s nice. Good music most of the time.

I was wary of this place because the reviews stated that the food was good but the service, not so much. But, the wife and I were hungry so we decided that we’d take the chance on the service especially since it was a Monday night and we figured it shouldn’t be crowded. When we got there, sure enough, the spot was empty with the exception of two people eating at the bar. Walking inside, the place looked like an abandoned Miami nightclub; it was clean and all but the décor maybe a little… dated? Again, my wary feeling returned but we were already there so I figured we might as well try it out. We were greeted by the hostess(who also doubled as our server) and seated right away. Since we were the only two patrons on the floor, our server was attentive and although not overly bubbly or friendly, she was nice enough and professional. All the options on the menu looked great and it took me a long time to decide what to order. While we decided, we ordered beef empanadas as a side. The empanadas had the flakiest crust I’ve ever tasted. The filling could’ve been a little more plentiful but overall the taste was delicious because that crust couldn’t be denied. I ordered a mango margarita on the rocks to drink and found that it was a bit«thick» for me but the taste was still very good. Finally, for my entrée, I chose the Lechon Asado(Roasted Pork with sautéed onions). It came with white rice, black beans and yucca but I substituted those sides for Arroz Moro, which is white rice and beans cooked together, and plantains. My wife chose the Arroz Imperial which is Yellow rice stuffed with shredded chicken, mayonnaise & melted cheese on top, she had plantains with that as well. Wow! Both entrees were DELICIOUS! My pork came out smothered with onions that were cooked to tender perfection. The pork itself was incredibly flavorful with a slight taste of citrus to lighten up richness of it. The rice on its own was okay but not the best I’ve ever had. But smothered by the pork and all the succulent juices dripping from it, it was great. The plantains were super sweet and the perfect compliment to a delicious dinner. I was in HEAVEN! This is authentic Cuban food at its best. By the way, the restaurant is very spacious so it’s more than able to compliment a large group for a party. In fact, a large group came in halfway through our meal. Some reviews complained about the prices but I didn’t find them to be bad at all, especially since we ate our bellies full and still left with full carry-home plates that made for a great lunch the next day. The service was fine and all in all we very much enjoyed Coco Cabana. My wife has been talking about going back all week so I’m sure we’ll be back soon.

I love this place. I’ve had enough Cuban food to know that this food is awesome! The atmosphere is great, and the customer service is good. They even offer free salsa lessons one or two times a week. This place is kid friendly, and the bathrooms are clean. Dinner prices are around $ 12. Lunch is $ 8. When I go, I have to get the yuca. Everything I’ve tasted is good, but I come for the yuca. Shout out to my waiter Cordel who took care of me and my fam.

Had a quick dinner here on a business trip. If you are just goingfor food, a little lacking in ambiance, as this is really a dance club. With that in mind, the food is OUTSTANDING and reasonably priced. The waiter was very attentive, drinks were quick, and the food was amazing. Will definately revist on my next trip.

Have to start by saying I’m Cuban and known the food well. I wish I could give it 4 ½ stars but since that’s not an option 5 it is. I ordered the papa rellena appetizer and it was awesome. They serve it cut in half with extra ground beef in a nice sauce poured on it. I’d come back just for that. I ordered ropa vieja which was very good. It came with rice, black beans and maduros. I was just blown away by the quality of food for what looks like a club. If I lived in the area I’d be a regular.

We have been longing for one of the Cuban sandwiches there for a year or so, It was so good and unforgettable. Last night we did a to-go order. We ordered a Cuban Sandwich, 2 Ropa Vieja, 1 Flan and one Crème Brulee. I will start with the desserts. The flan is the BEST flan that I have had in a very long time. It was very –creamy– dreamy unlike the jello-ish mess that I seem to be get these days. The Crème Brulee was very good also. Now — for the Ropa Vieja– The Ropa Vieja was like soup. The rice was hard. The yuca had NO flavor. I think they forgot to give us our mojo, –maybe? No garlic. Just a slithery piece of yuca. The plantains were delicious… and as before our Cuban sandwich was delicious. We did to-go so I have no comment about service — except — that we were told our order would be ready in 20 min, arrived at 20 min. and it took them another 20 min to get it out to us. We will be back, just NOT for the Ropa Vieja. Price is very good for the portion you get.

Went for a birthday celebration. We were a party of about 40 people. Loved the dance lessons and music. However the service was very slow. Took 45 minutes to get our food. The waitress was very polite and working as fast as she could but it took too long for the food to come out. It was worth the wait. I had the shrimp in garlic sauce which was excellent. Seasoned perfectly. Others in the group enjoyed their meals also. If their service was faster I would easily give the 5 stars.

Recommended this place for a friends birthday party. What a fiasco!!! Those who got there food were satisfied. Let’s just say I’m still waiting for my order. I tasted someone’s empanadas and they were good. Hope this helps. The dancing was good but because of my experience I didn’t care to join the festivities.

This spot has the best lunch special in the Tucker area imo… roasted chicken, rice, beans, plantains… plus it does not hurt that they have some pretty women in there having lunch from time to time…

The best paella I’ve ever had — the rice flavored with mussel brine so it is thick and juicy.

I’m so bummed I have to write a negative review for this restaurant! I work very close to Coco Cabana, and I’m a Brazilian who loves Cuban food. Today I was craving Ropa Vieja and a Chicken Empanada(being pregnant will do that to you! haha). The issue I had today was with service. My boyfriend went in to pick up my lunch since I was at work. He showed up with a bill for $ 18 which seemed bananas to me for one lunch portion Ropa Vieja and one empanada. I called the restaurant to find out what happened. The person who answered the phone explained to me that she gave my boyfriend a meal portion of the empanadas. I then asked how much one empanada was. She said $ 2, I then asked why she gave him 3 and not only 3 but chicken empanadas were ordered and ground beef were given. She told me they don’t sell only one empanada. I then asked why she would tell me the price for one if they don’t see one. She then told me that they will sell you one if you order it. I reiterated that he asked for one chicken empanada and was given 3 ground beef. She was clearly upset on the phone, said if I bring them back she’ll refund them. I was bothered by her attitude but appreciated that she did the right thing. My boyfriend brought back the empanadas. She was visibly upset and refunded the entire meal. Then charged him for the Ropa Vieja meal and one empanada. He asked why she’s charging for one empanada. She explained because I had eaten out of one. He became irritated at this moment and told her that was how she found out they were beef and said he didn’t find it just to charge for one empanada. She got even more upset and very loudly said«Fine! Then you don’t pay for anything!» and walked away. He did see from her for the rest of the time. On our bank statement is shows two charges at Coco Cabana, one for $ 18 and one for $ 13. I am hoping in the next two days at least one of those charges get taken off. Sad to say I will not go back to this restaurant. I’m really bummed because I love Cuban food, but can’t justify paying high prices for food that sadly is not that great and where service is so bad. Hope you have a better experience! xoxo

DANGEROUS place to eat, proceed carefully is you still go after reading this review. This place is the worst! Owner is rude when you call to make an appointment, he also not Cuban(or even Latin). When you complain about the food, he looks at you with a blank stare. Staff is totally clueless. Went there last night for the paella, which was particularly terrible in an orange sauce that was tomato-based. I’ve had paella in Havana and throughout my travels around the world. I thought it was hard to ruin until my experience here. The server had no clue what was going on: we ordered the paella with no meat as my guest was a pescatarian. It states there is chicken in this dish, so we asked for NOCHICKEN. We explained this to him, explaining how it won’t be edible if there is ANY meat. The dish came out with a ton of chicken on the first round. We explained again about the chicken issue and the server asked if we could do him a favor and still eat around the chicken. When we explained this wasn’t an option, he took it back and then brought it out«without chicken.» We dove in, to find smaller chunks of chicken that weren’t taken out by the kitchen. Now, how do you lie to someone and tell them is it a fresh dish with no chicken when you just merely pick out the largely visible chunks, playing it off as meatless? When it finally came out on the third try, they just took out the seafood from the last dish and gave fresh rice without any chicken… The shrimps were cold, they didn’t even bother to grill them like the ones from the original dish. We couldn’t eat any of it, so we literally ate bread the entire time(which we needed to order several times before we saw any). Nothing was done to right these wrongs by the staff: we paid for a terrible meal and left with only bread in our stomachs. Normally, an apology from the owner would be given, or the dinner would be comp. None of this happened…

This was the first Cuban restaurant I’ve been to and I was not disappointed! I was on a short trip for work training and this place happened to be in the strip mall across the street. We picked this place based on the other Unilocal reviews and I am so glad we did! Lunch here on a weekday was very empty as there was only 1 other table there. We were a larger table with about 10 people and they managed to serve us and finish up our meal within an hour for us to make it back to work. I ordered the Vaca Frita(fried shredded beef in a Cuban creole sauce) with fried sweet plantains and black beans. The portions were huge! I ate about 1⁄3 of the beef which was absolutely delicious! The only part I didn’t like was that there was a ton of fresh sliced onion on top of the dish. Everything else was delicious. It was a great experience and I hope I’m back in the area again soon for a return trip here!

Went here today for a business lunch as the initial reviews and pics posted made me crave Cuban. I don’t eat big lunches as I’m getting old and have to take a nap sob without even really looking at the menu, I ordered a pressed Cuban sandwich and some veggies. My buddy got a meat dish I’ll have to look up– but all was very good, and well presented. Atmosphere is classy, dance floor for night, we got a booth in the back and had impeccable service. Fixed my craving and quite pleased. Will be back when in the area.
