If you are expecting a fancy atmosphere and craft cocktails, this isn’t your place. However, ice cold beer, good old fashioned bar food and great service will be found at Bob Dobbs! If you’re lucky, Ruby will be behind the bar. I told my husband that Jon Taffer from Bar Rescue needs to hire her as a consultant. She has a wonderful personality and an incredible multitasking ability. We watched Ruby make about 5 different drinks at the same time! Bob Dobbs has a great local vibe and atmosphere. If you want to watch a game, sing karaōke, or just relax with a beer, I recommend this place wholeheartedly.

I usually don’t complain about these sorts of things, but I received the absolute worst treatment from the bartenders at Dobbs. I came in earlier this evening due to the Unilocal reviews and sat at the bar to order a Jameson and Guinness. After the bartender looked at my ID, he condescendingly said«this doesn’t look like you.» Now, I understand bartednders having to cover their ass nowadays to avoid getting trapped in sting operations, I get that. But this guy was exceedingly rude about it. I have also never been questioned about my ID in the past so this was a little surprising. He took it over to his coworker who I believe had a blacklight so they could check the watermarks, but this went on for about 3 minutes after I had ordered. So after he came back to me he asked, «do you have anything more current?» This is a valid ID mind you that doesn’t expire for over a year. I look through my wallet and produced my Costco membership card which does have a slightly more current photo. He then compares the two side by side for quite a while, dropping my credit card in the process behind the bar. After a while he hands the cards back to me and says, «you should get something more current.» To which I responded, «that’s all I have.» He then let out a sigh and asked what I wanted again. It was at this point I gave up on the whole ordeal and just said, «forget it.» I travel extensively for my job and have been to just about every corner of this country, but the way these guys are running that bar is absolutely awful. I can easily say this was the worst I had been treated in an establishment, ever.

For some students, Dirtbags was«a part of growing up.» For me, it was always Bob Dobbs. More often than not, a stop here would work it’s way into whatever festivities we had planned: taking in a basketball game, grabbing a bite after a concert, or just meeting up for a good time. Finals week was usually officially wrapped up with a visit here. This was the place to go when we needed to decompress. Many a bachelorette party seemed to find it’s way here as well. A couple decades later, and not much has changed. About once a month, our lab would meet here for lab meetings or once again, to decompress after a big grant had been sent out. Back in the day, when my now husband was still courting me, he wrote our names on the wall with a purple sharpie, complete with a heart and arrow. And we’d still find ourselves wandering over at times to watch a game and have a beer. Bob Dobbs is nothing fancy. The seating is comprised mostly of picnic tables with decades of graffiti carved into them, and the walls are still adorned with names, poems, mottos, you name it, in sharpie or whatever writing instrument they have on hand. Ive seen people bring kids here on occasion, but I personally don’t view this place a family appropriate — some of the limericks scribbled on the walls are a bit raunchy. The raunch is taken to a whole new level in the restrooms, so again, know before you go(so to speak). As for the food — in all my years coming here, I’ve only has three things: the Bob burger, the french fries, and the fried clams. I love how they season the burgers, with lots of garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce. It’s served on a big challah bun with choice of cheese(I get the smoked mozzarella), crisp lettuce, tomato, and a pickle. The fries are hand cut and maybe a nice accompaniment to the burger. And this may be nostalgia talking, but I do love the clams, and the cocktail sauce seems always to have perfect amount of horseradish. Now that I have kids, I don’t get many opportunities to dine in, so when a craving hits I’ll take my food to go(as a result, my kids have all become fans of Bob Dobbs takeout). I find the service generally competent, but no nonsense. If bubbly enthusiasm in restaurant staff is your thing, you’ll be sorely disappointed with your experience here. Bartenders and serves are affable and attentive, but they only get chummy with the regulars — and there are definitely a lot of regulars here. That said, newbies are certainly welcome, and tipping will go a long ways towards earning their endearment. When you’re looking for a low-key neighborhood bar experience, Bob Dobbs is your place.

2 Stars for the food. 4 stars for the drink selection and price, and vibe. I came here to eat on a Wednesday night for«Bob’s World Famous» burger. It was a valiant effort, but the burger was cooked well done when I had asked for medium. Same story for my friend who had a burger. Fries were a bit overcooked too, but hey, it’s actually easier to get distracted on slow Wednesday nights! I wasn’t too upset. The vibe is good. If you’ve read some of these outdated reviews, you’ll find that the atmosphere is less divey… and cleaned up! Clean and modernized now, but you can still throw peanut shells on the ground at will.

Burgers are juicy and delicious! Be prepared for the garlic burps for the next few hours after. Great to watch the games… not do great for a first date. Better than ZinBurger!

I had a avocado bacon burger with frys and it was amazing. They dressed it up really nice and served it in a way i wish i had taken a picture but i was hungry and it smelled too good. Also had a bloody Mary that went so well with it. So worth the price of around 12 $ all together

Outstanding food and good service. Very close to U of A. Many college students and regular customers as well. Various TV screens to view. Close to other restaurants if it gets too busy.

Great staff where they’ll remember your order. They have good drinks and clientele. The wings and burgers are both really good.

Average food, average atmosphere. I went on lunch break and wanted to try something new and opted for this place. I don’t remember much of what I got, but I do remember it was good. Not great, not bad, just pretty average. Not cheap though, so I’m not going to be returning any time soon. If you want a burger I would suggest going to Graze which is just north of this place, or if you want a hot dog to just grab a Sonoran dog at any nearby Mexican drive-thru.

Cold beer, good food and friendly bartenders. I had the Cobb salad for lunch which was plentiful & very filling. My friends had enjoyed the signature half pound burgers in which he felt was cooked to perfection and tasty. Not fancy but hey, good beer and good food is what it’s about. Be casual and be comfortable.

Stopped by Bob Dobbs after landing in Tucson for a drink before dinner. I might be a bit biased coming from LA, but the prices were phenomenal– a beer and a G&T were only $ 6.50!(I was expecting triple that!) They didn’t have a huge selection, but there were bout 5 beers on tap to choose from(I had the Four Peaks Kilt Lifter, which was great. The other options were basically Sierra Nevada, Blue Moon, Bud Light, and Coors, so not quite as exciting). A nice addition is the free baskets of [very salty] peanuts to snack on while you enjoy your drink! This seems like it would be great place for someone going alone or with a group to grab a drink or come and watch a game, and if I were hanging out in the area, I’d come back!

Bob Dobbs makes one of my favorite burgers in Tucson. This little neighborhood sports bar has been around for ages yet stays much the same, to my delight and joy. I confess, I haven’t given the rest of the menu much of a chance. But when you’ve tried something truly amazing, why not keep coming back again and again for a perfectly-seasoned cheeseburger with a side of home-made potato salad?(And a Guinness). I would have to be a damned fool. So anyway, the World Famous Bob’s Burger is where it’s at. It is juicy, perfectly seasoned with a blend of garlic, soy, and Worcestershire sauce. I get it done medium and it never disappoints. They have Havarti cheese for your burger(gold star). Yes, the potato salad is awesome, order that. I do like the wings. The gazillion tv screens in such a small space definitely screams divey sports bar, but there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s the Bob Dobbs charm, and I’m into it.

I’m not a bar person in general. Bob Dobbs doesn’t have the right atmosphere for me and looks a bit dilapidated for my taste. My party of four opted for the balcony seats and a guy was smoking on the table right next to ours. Definitely not my scene. The menu was not my thing, either. I was picking through the items and found the descriptions not particularly appetizing — «Hooter Sandwich,» «ripe tomato,» «ripe avocado»? When I was miserably anticipating an inedible meal, my order of half«ripe» avocado sandwich and beef rice soup came. Pleasantly surprised. SOOO Much better than what I could imagine. Yes, I would come here again for the food.

Came down to UofA Homecoming and decided to pop into Bob Dobbs. It was one of my friend’s favorite spots to go to when we were in college, so we decided to reminisce about the good old days there. I have to say, after all these years, Bob Dobbs is still a pretty great place to go. We went on a Saturday night so there was karaōke going on all night, and believe me, the crowd was INTOIT! Everyone was singing and laughing; the atmosphere was so light and free that you couldn’t help but to belt along with the crowd. Even better, drinks are cheap! I think a pitcher of a Northern Californian beer ran us $ 9/pitcher(4 glasses — a little over $ 2 a piece is a steal!). The only pitfalls are 1) the food sucks, but you don’t come to a place like this for the food, so I shouldn’t be surprised; and 2) there are only 2 unisex bathrooms, so after a full night of college kids(and alumni) boozing, the bathrooms are less than to be desired. However, the atmosphere is so chill that you can’t help but to have a good time here so I definitely plan to make another pit-stop into the Dobbs next time I am in Tucson :)

I’ve been patronizing this business for years. What do I love about it? 1. Nice, cozy patio. It’s nothing fancy. Just basic wooden picnic benches. 2. Amazing wings. Get the wings. I like the ones that aren’t slathered in sauce. 3. Great prices. No, seriously. You can get a full meal with about $ 10. 4. Reliable service. 5. Feel good space with sprawling writings all over the place. Fun reading. 6. Parking is always available either along the curb on Sixth Street, or in the rear. I find that the burgers are consistent and on point. Never have I had an over or undercooked burger. Their fries are the right width and length and without being over-seasoned. And I find that the service is generally attentive and swift. And my absolute favorite? To visit on a cool night, early in the evening, just as dusk is setting in. Grab a seat on that gorgeous patio, which has a TV, but is never obnoxiously loud. And enjoy the conversation and good eats as the sun sets.

Aggressive? Type A personality? Hardcore go-getter? If you like a good old fashioned challenge, then this is your place. If you aren’t practically assaulting the bartender, you’re not so much as going to get a second glance. The staff here could use a class or ten in customer service. I’ve been coming here for five years(it’s in my hood) and there are new faces almost every month, but for some reason, the only thing that changes is the menu. Speaking of food, the chicken nachos here are the real deal. They give you a nice large serving — with real cheese and everything. This is a no Velveeta zone. Surprisingly, they dish up some awesome salads too. The Apple and Havarti Salad is delish. Be sure to get everything you want when you first place your order. You’re on your own after that. Tonight I went home hungry and pissed, which sadly, isn’t unusual. Ish.

Game day mad house. If there are many games going on that night, multiple tvs will be on for your entertainment. They are not very speedy with their service so you sit down for like 10 mins without being served; bare with it. I had the Portabella Mushroom Sandwich which was like a Portabella Burger. Along side, you can choose a side and I chose hand cut fries. They were not the best fries in town but they were pretty okay. The fans in this place keeps the vibe in this sports bar alive!!!
