Unilocal didn’t steer(pun intended) us wrong! Great steak and ribs and the beans tasted like my own homemade..

Just wow. This is not the place to come if ambiance is more important than the food. Plastic plates, paper napkins, ancient tables and chairs, and dollar bills as decoration… all excusable because the steak is THATGOOD. Best steak in Tucson. Period.

After reading other positive reviews on Unilocal we decided to give Daisy Mae’s a try since my husband was in the mood for a good steak. It was nice being in a restaurant that is not a chain like a lot of others. When we arrived we saw and smelled the Barbeque outside in front of the business, which was a good sign. My husband said the ribeye was excellent but I have to say I ordered the ribs and they were the best I’ve ever had! They literally fell off the bone! Our waitress was really friendly and efficient. When we are back in the Tucson area Daisy Mae’s will be in the top of our list.

We grill ribeyes and T-bone steaks at home several times a month, so I feel comfortable in putting myself forward as a someone very familiar with quality meat and cuts. I’m giving Daisy Mae’s a 5 star rating on the ribeye alone. If I factor in the sides, the overall meal rating would drop to 4 stars. The beans look and taste like an unappetizing watery mess. The ribeyes by themselves, however, 5 stars.

Good ol fashion BBQ spot. I’ve been to Daisy’s 3 time now and I’m hooked. The ribs. The chicken. There service. It’s all good. I’m not a steak eater but one of these days I’ll try the filet. I pretty sure it’ll be delicious. Glad this place is on the way home for me I’ll keep stopping.

First of all, I haven’t seen anyone ask the logical question: Are Lil’ Abners & Daisy Mae’s Steakhouse somehow related? Same owner? I had to ask the question and apparently they AREN’T! It’s a total coincidence! They are located 12 miles from each other and both are fantastic steakhouses. I guess it’s just me. My snowbird neighbors were about to fly North for the Summer and wanted to try something new before they left. They had heard about«Brother Johns Beer, Bourbon &BBQ.» and wanted to go there. I never heard of it. This is where Unilocal comes in handy. The reviews on Unilocal were very helpful… so we didn’t go. I don’t have first hand experience for Brother John and therefore should not have an opinion, but I trust the Unilocal consensus. Instead, I searched«Top steakhouses in Tucson.» I’m familiar with many of them, but I saw Daisy Mae rank very high. It was geographically close and Unilocal has many favorable reviews. I would give it 5⁄5 stars for food & service, but as many others note — the atmosphere is a bit on the rustic side. I don’t mind at all because IT’S ALLABOUTTHEFOODBABY! The steaks and ribs were fantastic! I’m not sure why I’m adding my two cents since the community here pretty much nailed it. The bottomless beans compliment the bottomless Texas toast. The latter must be used to mop up the former because that’s the way you do it! The toast helps clean your sticky fingers in between the bites of heavenly baby back ribs. There was a full bar and nice selection of beers(No Taps though). Salad is modest, but very good. I had the 14oz rib-eye with side potato(Potatoe if your name is Dan Quayle); either way, the potato with all the trims was steaming hot and good. The whole meal is $ 29, but the value is well worth it. You get what you pay for! I had virtually zero fat/gristle on the rib-eye. The mesquite flavor is about as good as it gets and the medium rare request is exactly what they delivered. My wife had the baby-back ribs. They have half & full rack. She had the half rack & Chicken. I guess she had more like a quarter rack since yours truly kept stealing a rib when she wasn’t looking ;-) Don’t worry, she got half my rib-eye; a very equitable trade. The meat on the ribs does not like the bone from whence it came. the two part ways almost immediately when you touch them. Yes, they are that good. The service was very good and very timely. We went on a Saturday night 5pm and stayed through 7pm. I’m unsure why the place wasn’t packed. We made reservations, but did not need them. Sorry Brother John, but Daisy Mae will be getting our business. Let Unilocal help you out in your food deficiencies. LISTENTOTHEREVIEWS and learn! We don’t always get it right, but the consensus is virtually never wrong.

Staying at the JW Marriott Starr Pass this is super close if you want to escape the food on that compound. Felt like we were the only tourists in the crowd. The usual tourist at this particular resort might not fancy the ambience here, but we loved it. This place was perfect for us with a 2 and 4 year old in tow. Lots of other families with good ambient noise from the crowd – this is important when eating with kids! We got a ribeye and filet for the parents… and some chicken wings and grilled cheese for the kids. Everyone was happy and stuffed. Staff and service was also fantastic. Always checking on us and even racing out to the parking lot when I forgot my credit card.

Talk about a hole in the wall steak place. The outside has little to be desired, as does the décor inside, but the steak spoke volumes! They are well versed on the different styles of searing and offer great cuts of meat. They don’t offer a wide menu, but what you get is well worth it.

The only negative thing I experienced here was the wait time for food + the check. We spent over 40 minutes waiting for food and then a good 20 after finishing before the waiter brought the check(which we had requested earlier on). Otherwise the food was absolutely phenomenal.

One of the best steak houses I’ve ever been to! Great quality steak that’s prepared to perfection. Not to mention the bread they give you on the side is delicious. It’s a a nice and soft toasted bread covered in butter. It compliments the steak just right. Service is exceptional. Overall it’s a great place to dine at. One of the best in Tucson.

Five stars for that filet I had earlier tonight. Wow. Perfectly cooked and amazing flavor. The filet was so juicy!!! And very reasonably priced. This place also has a great beer selection although none are on tap. The interior is questionable and the parking is awful but I will be back for that filet.

Made in on sat night. We made the mistake of hitting dinner rush at its peak. They did a decent job getting a table in under 19 minutes. We called ahead but the young hostess seamed overwhelmed. The order was goofed up by us not getting our salads until after the meal arrived. With that being said, the food is outstanding. One of the best t-bones I have had. The place is done old school over a out door grill. Kinda of loud and crazy but a lot of fun. Would have gone 5 stars if the service was more organized.

We dined tonight… yummmmmy! Ribeye n ribs. Also, they do not water down their drinks. Had Cadillac margaritas and they were strong and good. Will come back when in Tucson. 4 thumbs up.

The front office staff at Starr Golf Pass Resort recommended this steak house approximately 5 miles from the resort. The hostess who greeted us was very friendly and sat us quickly. The«main dining room» consisted of several small tables for two, with a few larger tables for families. The chairs were those typical of Sunday church buffets. The food was pretty good for the most part. The Texas Toast that came with my half rack of ribs needed more butter, but was plentiful, as were the side of beans. Note that both the bread and beans were all you can eat. The beans had a nice big hunk of ham and were spiced just right. I finished my first bowl and just had to take more back to the hotel with me. The ribs were juicy and tender and came right off the bone. The generic salad wasn’t anything to write home about, with the dressing from a jar. My friend indicated her pork chop was cooked well and tasted very good. The butter, sour cream and chives that came with my baked potato were not enough, in my opinion, to cover a quarter of my potato. Bottom line: the food was tasty and plentiful. I wish the place will get more comfortable seats.

First time ever here the other night, I don’t know what took us so long. This place has been here forever and has such a rustic lived in feel. It was very comfortable setting, no fancy clothes required. This is the only steakhouse I’ve been to in Tucson where the cuts and quality were incredible. We both had an outstanding experience with a really great steak. I didn’t have any beer but will in the future, they have a nice selection which I really can appreciate. I think this just might be our new quick steak dinner place; when it’s all about the food. Don’t expect fancy settings, it’s a very casual place and I believe the plates and bowls we ate out of were plastic. But that was an incredibly solid steak.

Im giving this a 3 stars because the server took our drinks away before we finished. We ordered the meatlover with wimgs, ribs and ribeye. The wings was the best out of the 3. The ribs was a little dry. The food all and all wasnt too bad but we wouldn’t go back.

Coming through town, I was looking for a decent steak. This place fit the bill. The steak was great, I love it when a place does medium rare right. The sides were great. The bread was superb. They also have a great beer selection, including from local breweries. It would be perfect if they had more beer on tap.

I was taken here for Father’s Day. It was very busy. The food was very good. The menu is more of a BBQ menu although it is listed as a steak house. The portion sizes are large and I had not problem with the BBQ offerings because that is what I was told I was coming for. The place does not disappoint. The server was friendly, prompt and attentive. The location is a bit off the beaten path. I am sure the locals are happy to have this gem tucked away. It was the perfect fathers day meal. I would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys bbq.

I am torn about Daisy Mae’s. The outside looks betters than the inside. The grilled buffalo wings were the star of the meal. The ribs were very good. The steaks were not great cuts and were under seasoned. I’d go back only for the wings and ribs.

We visited Tucson this weekend and ate dinner at Daisy Mae’s Monday night. We arrived around 6:30PM and there were only a few diners in the dining room, must have been perfect timing since the parking lot was nearly full when we left. If you are looking for a great steak then put Daisy Mae’s at the top of your list. If you are looking for a fancy steak house then it’s not the place for you. This is a casual restaurant that serves great food at a good price with great service. I ordered the Ribeye and it was perfectly prepared on their outdoor grill and was yummy. Sides included a baked potato with all the fixings, beans, Texas toast and a side salad. My wife ordered the ribs and they were also excellent with a nice dry rub and fall off the bone texture. If you’re in Tucson and looking for a steak then head over to Daisy Mae’s. You won’t be sorry!

Unbelievably great! Super cute character. Had the full rack of ribs and a filet both were awesome. Loved the Texas toast too. Our server Renee was a doll! You have to try this place. I grew up in Tucson and had never been here. I will definitely come back.

I’m giving this place a 5 star because the steaks(especially the ribeye) are awesome . The waitress tells you that the beans and bread are all you want, but she actually has to come back to the table for you to ask for more. I think the servers could be more attentive. They didn’t come back to the table until we were already done eating. The place is very casual and that’s great, but some paint and a little remodel of the bathrooms would go a long way. A restaurant bathroom should look clean. Theirs seems nasty like a road side gas staton. I hope this gets back to management, because I really like this place and recommend a lot of my clients there every week.

Their meet is DELICOUS! Cooked to perfection, flavorful, juicy, tender… Oh geeze! Just absolutely delicious. Now, steak on it’s own is fantastic, but the sides make it heavenly. The beans are outstanding. I love the fact that this is place is a hidden gem, that gives it a great touch! You have to try! So so good!

I normally don’t give five stars. Especially on my first visit. But this place certainly impressed. It is a little divey, but great food and great service. We had wings and chips and salsa as appetizers. Wings we’re good. Chips and salsa were good. But let’s face it we did not come here because of the chips and salsa. We came for steaks. We had steaks and ribs. The meals come with a salad, potato, beans and bread. The salad was fresh and the ranch was top notch. All of the sides are realllly good. Seriously even the bread was tasty. But the steak and the ribs were the stars. Steak was so flavorful and cooked exactly right. They cook the steak in the back and you can actually watch them cooking it over the Mesquite. That smoke and such a wonderful flavor to the state that it didn’t need salt or pepper and it tasted wonderful. Great flavor, great cooking. The ribs are fall of the bone tender. I’m not even a ribs fan and I liked their ribs. So, great food, great prices and great service. Like I said, I normally wouldn’t give it five stars on the first visit. But this place impressed my entire family.

What an interesting find on vacation! The staff was super friendly and the food was incredible BANGFORYOURBUCK! They had cheap wine options as well. The atmosphere was nothing like i’ve ever seen. Very«DIVEY» but loved it! The people in the place were all of various ages and seemed to all love the spot. I suspects lots of regulars(which shows you a good place!) Their good was great, service was great, had a good time! If i’m ever in the area again, i’d seriously consider going back.

I CANNOT understand why there aren’t THOUSANDS of reviews for this place. It looks like it’s been here for frickin’ EVER… why less than 100 reviews when the steak is this monumental? THAT’S RIGHT, PEOPLE… MONUMENTALSTEAK. I did not come here for the: — Baked Potato — Beans — Buttered Toast — Beer — «Barn mates with college dorm» décor — Excellent Service(DAMMIT! That didn’t start with a «B»… let’s try again…) — Bitchin’ Service with a Smile(Ahhh…better!!) No, I came here for the S.T.E.A.K. …and NO, I was NOT disappointed! Imagine the best steak money can buy. Now, imagine a steak that’s BETTER than that one. Because this one will be. I got the Ribeye(14 oz.) and it was perfect, although I ordered it medium, and I wish now that I would have ordered it medium rare. I’ve had many, many good quality steaks, and this one would be in my top TWO. Only $ 26. TWENTYSIXBUCKSONLY! Mesquite Grilled. «Mesquite…Mesquite.» Awww, c’mon, say it with me people… «Mesquite…mesquite…mesquite…» This might be the last word I ever say… muttered right before I die. The family leans in, and I mouth, oh-so-quietly, «mesquite». That’s right… this will be my «Rosebud.» The service was very friendly and the environment was«poor college bar». The toast is just toast. The potato was just a damn potato. I don’t care. The beans were actually quite yummy. I think they’re made with some green salsa or tomatillo salsa. Tasty. But the steak… the STEAK… O.M.G. «Mesquite…» ***breathes last breath***

Stopped in Tucson for the night while driving from New Orleans to Los Angeles and was super happy to find this great spot. The restaurant had a very cool vibe with a big outdoor seating area, indoor fireplace and walls(and ceilings and furniture!) covered with dollar bills. The food was amazing. My entire family loved everything we ordered: 14-oz ribeye steak(soooo yummy!), half rack of ribs(fall off the bone delicious), and the fish special(grilled halibut). All entrees came with a perfectly baked potato and family-style baked beans. No complaints at all! To top it all off, there was a nice beer and wine menu and attentive service. Exactly what we needed at the end of a long day of driving.

Have you been here? No? Get in your car now! Im from Texas, and I have had a lot of steak in this lil pseudo asian body of mine. So I think it is safe to say that I know a thing or two about steaks. I came to Arizona on holiday. The funny thing about that is I didn’t expect much from the food scene in Tucson. I was right. The best thing I could have there was Eegees(which by the way is absolutely delicious wish they were in houston… like for serious those icey things would sell like hot cakes there). Then came the suggestion to come here. I basically laughed at the thought. Desert plus Steak equals nope. But I was definitely counting my chickens before they hatched. Or milking my cow before… whatever. Basically, this place needs to be in Houston as well. First off the decoration is such a cool concept, I mean the first thing when I see a whole bunch of dollar bills I automatically think stripper but if you dont think of that its a pretty cool concept. I also heard about them donating those dollars to charity which I can get on board with. The steaks themselves are absolutely delicious. I got the ribeye. The thing that I look for in a steak is how much of this steak is usually edible. I dont like getting a bunch of fat and grizzle. If half my steak is that, it is an automatic F. I will be pissy and let my voice heard on Unilocal in a phase I like to coin as my «Yelper Tantrum.» My ribeye was divine. It was cooked a perfect medium rare and the excess that I had was like 1⁄25th of what I actually ate. A major plus is that if you are in the room with the window overlooking the grill you can see them grill your steak right there. The service was perfect and the beans and salad that came with my meal was on point. I cannot wait to come back here next year!
