Don Porfis

Porfis has two locations, this one and another in Mexico. When I was younger, my dad would always wake me up around 7 am on a Sunday, and take me to «El Porfis» In Nogales, Mexico. As they would almost always sell out if you got there late. I’m a huge fan of their food. However, I don’t know if it’s just nostalgia or just in my head, or maybe where they get the ingredients, but this Tucson location just doesn’t have the same flavor. I love getting «tres y tres» meaning three Al vapor and three mini chimichangas. It’s shredded meat and potatoes, topped with mayo, the house salsa (crushed chilis and tomato) that can be ordered in different levels of hottness, and lettuce. Its greesy, unhealthy heaven. If you want the closet thing to Mexican street food, come here.

In town for work and this food is amazing!!! Different type of Mexican food than I’ve had in Utah, but very good. Nice service as well

This place has a small menu selection, I suppose they stick to what they know best! The restaurant originated from a small push cart in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico which is located a few blocks from the international border. The atmosphere is nothing special but the prices are super reasonable and the flavor of their food tastes exactly as it does in Mexico. If you’d like to taste some authentic Mexican «street» tacos without driving to Mexico, check them out. I recommend the tacos «al vapor».

The menu here is very simple and centers around it’s machaca/​papa base. Last time I came I ate four taco dorados and a chimichanga for under $ 10!

The food is always good, this placd started in nogalds back in the 80’s, and iy offers some of the best beef chimichangas, hard shell tacos, and aoft steam tacos. Thei secret sauce or ingridients must bs dang good, the actual physical locationa is not the best but their food is always consistenly good.
