(+) — hamachi kama — nice waiters (-) — tempura udon — fire roll Both times I came here for dinner there was no wait. The booths are awkward, too big for the tables they have. Never had a problem with service, quick and nice. I was excited to try this place because there aren’t any other asian food places around the area but I was severely disappointed. I love noodles and udon is usually never a miss so I got the tempura udon. The udon and tempura were meh and the broth was waaay too saIty and had some strange taste that I can’t put my finger on but disliked greatly. Even the cheap 1.50 prepackaged ones from asian markets taste better than this 10 dollar bowl. 2nd time I was giving the place another chance thinking maybe the sushi wouldn’t be too bad. wrong. I got the fire roll(17 freaking dollars) which comes to you wrapped in aluminum foil and on fire. The novelty of that was kind of cool but it tasted weird, I think there was sugar or something at the bottom that maybe the fire was supposed to infuse into the roll? whatever it did, it didn’t taste good. I’m surprised the hamachi kama was decent when everything else was so crappy. Maybe there are better menu items, but definitely avoid the udon and fire roll.

After a bad lunch time experiment at Sushi Garden a couple of years back I’ve been skeptical about having sushi in AZ for some time. Fast forward to a few weeks ago where we went to Fusion Wasabi for lunch and I must say it wasn’t bad. The sushi was surprisingly pretty fresh. The place looked pretty modern and trendy. Photos of mirth and good times captured forever plastered to the wall as soon as you walk in is always a crowd pleaser. The location seems kind of out of the way, but the place was full of daily grinders on lunch break, so that was another good sign. It was also good to see the owners(or someone there) had a sense of humor because posted on a placard by the bar was an ad for a special«SB1070» roll. Whoever came up with that clearly didn’t understand the cultural complexity of such a thing as the ingredients didn’t make sense, if they were trying to be funny with it. Someone with a dark, sardonic, sarcastic sense of humor(such as myself) would have made that thing with refried beans, jalapenos, and crusted with crushed tortilla chips. HAHA. My only complaint is that when we were seated and the server came, they seemed to have the stereotypical Asian«hurry up and buy» vibe going on. The lady spoke very fast, making it seem like they wanted to feed us, then kick us out. Well unbeknownst to her, I was«on duty» and where I work, I don’t get to go to any real city often at all so I wasn’t going to be pressured even if I were playing Russian roulette while reading the menu. We ordered and shortly after we all had complimentary miso soup, a standard thing for sushi restaurants but it was nice to see they are on that page as well. Not long after that, all our meals came out. Expeditiousness really is their goal. The items are a bit pricey but that isn’t usually a complaint of mine, not because I’m a big shot but because I enjoyed my meal and I had a good time. If you’re nearby, Fusion Wasabi is worthy of checking out.

I went there with a friend in December; and forgot my credit card when we left. I called the next day and the manager assured me they didn’t have it. Something went wrong with cancelling the credit card at my bank; and now, six weeks later, this restaurant has charged that credit card nearly $ 600. If you go there, make sure you pay in cash, because some employee(s) are stealing your cards and using them IN the restaurant — and the management isn’t doing a thing about it… And the place itself: Look at the other reviews here, bill disputes are common, the food is fine but not great, the service is poor to average. And they jack your credit card and use it at their own restaurant. Still wanna eat there? Caveat emptor.

What a great place! We found this on and I was excited to see a hibachi table. We decided to go for that so that I could have teppanyaki and the hubby could still have sushi if he wanted. I ordered fried calamari, the hibachi calamari plate($ 16), and my husband ended up getting the steak, chicken, and shrimp hibachi plate($ 28). We split a large beer and a bottle of their Aladdin sake($ 13). The entrees came with salad, soup, fried rice, and veggies. The fried rice was to die for. It was so moist. We usually find fried rice to be overcooked when cooked on the hibachi. We enjoyed everything. Service was really good even though we never got our calamari. It was fine though, since we were stuffed with everything else. We didn’t have any trouble using our coupon and 18% gratuity added before discount. When we got our credit card receipt, though, the itemized portion wasn’t included so we had to ask the server if gratuity was included. She seemed a little irritated that we asked which leads me to think she was hoping we would have double-tipped her. I guess I don’t blame her, but I don’t like feeling deceived. Other than that weird encounter, we loved this experience.

I was so impressed by the staff here last night that I think they could have served me bad food and I would not have noticed. BUT they didn’t. We have just two rolls, the Spicy Lobster Roll and the Rainbow Roll and the Spicy Lobster Roll was awesome. If had large chucks, and I mean chunks of Lobster and was just delicious. We came with a Larger group then was expected and the staff was overwhelmed by the additional 15 – 20 people but smiled and did everything they could to make us happy. I will be back!

I don’t know why it took me this long to write a review of this place. Honestly! If i want good udon, this is the place I go hands down! But there are many things to fall in love with conveniently on their menu. I usually go for their udon, which is both flavorful and filling. It’s got such a balanced flavor with a bit of spiciness and the noodles are thick and satisfying. This past Tuesday my husband and I went to this restaurant and was quickly seated. We were served our drinks fairly quickly and we looked over the menu. I’ll just suffice it to say that our server was very attentive to our table, which was a treat in itself. We had fried calamari for our starter along with the Pink Lady which is off of their sushi menu. I had the udon and my husband had sesame chicken. The fried calamari was O.M.G. delicious! Tender, soft, well seasoned, and the sauce that was paired with it was amazing. I mean… I will definitely order this again and again. Udon as usual was delicious. I didn’t try the sesame chicken, but my husband got the spicy version and he said it was amazing. He had it the next day and said it was just as good.(There was a lot!) The Pink Lady sushi roll was just divine. It had spicy tuna, salmon, and some other fishes inside that worked fantastically together with a drizzle of, i do believe eel sauce. We ate it up quick. Anywho, I would recommend this place to anyone. Great service, terrific food, and great ambiance. 5 stars for me.

my sister-in-law recommended this place after our first attempt to find dinner on thursday evening was a fail. the sign on the outside of the restaurant is actually fusion wasabi and when i was trying to find«fusion wasabi» on Unilocal to check in, blu wasabi restaurant kept popping up. i confirmed with the waitress that it’s «fusion wasabi»(perhaps they changed their name?) anywayyyyyy! we sat down in a booth and ordered the chicken katsu entrée and the sesame beef entrée to share. i haven’t had sushi here in tucson, so i ordered the tempura roll. it was alright, but i asked our server to skip the cucumber(instead she left the cucumber and skipped the avocado). the entrees came with soup and an asian salad. i chose miso and the other two adults chose a beef flavored soup. when our food arrived, i was surprised at how massive the plates were. we shared the two entrees between three adults and two toddlers. the katsu was traditional and tasted very good. there were two dipping sauces for it. the sesame beef was very crispy and had great flavor! we were super stuffed when we left. i can’t wait to have another opportunity to go back and try their teppenyaki!

Stopped in for a late night snack last week. We chowed on the Ultimate Spicy Tuna Roll and Nogales Roll. I loved the spiciness of the jalapeño in the Nogales Roll. The tuna roll was good as well. I appreciate that the bottle of beer they served me was ICE cold, just the way it should be. The service was average at best. Not very personable, but adequate for the most part. The interior of the restaurant is nice. Though the drink menu located on the little«A» stand on the table was dirty, torn and wrinkled up from water stains. They really should keep these fresh. It gives a careless impression.

We’ve been here a handful of times recently, and have had pretty good results. The sushi is tasty and seems to be fresh. They have a lot of different rolls to choose from, which is nice. The cooked dishes are huge portions and tasty. The fried rice is very good. The service is just ok. I usually get hot meals, which are supposed to come with a salad, and 3 out of 4 times, I didn’t get that salad unless I asked for it. The sodas come in giant cups, so it’s hard to drink them faster than a server can refill them, which is good. The booths are comfortable, and the restaurant has a pretty decent atmosphere. Overall, we like going here. We will continue to and would recommend it to others!

Solid place in the neighborhood. Strange to have to ask for wasabi for our 7-roll sushi order, when wasabi is in the name. Rolls were delicious, but pickled ginger was also lacking. Prices are consistent with other sushi joints in town.

Fusion Wasabi I love you. Yes, I said I love you. Sonny(The owner/one of the owners) and staff are always out to make your dining experience an awesome one. The service is grand even at lunch time. There was a slight delay for my friends Teriyaki Chicken once during that hour, but it’s not enough for me to down grade my rating. Your standard sushi fair and creatively named and concocted rolls can be found here. (The Spicy Tuna Roll though simple it is my favorite, because they use a small amount of Sriracha. Delicious.) It’s by far my favorite privately owned sushi spot in town. Give it a try, because with the atmosphere and food you won’t be disappointed.

I have been going to Fusion Wasabi since their name was still Sky Blue Wasabi several years ago and love it. I can’t count how many times I have been there. When I was still active duty Air Force, this was my shops favorite place to go for lunch. The service has been great 100% of the time. I’ve seen a couple comments stating they’ve had poor service, but I can honestly say I have been blessed with great service each time. My drink is never empty here. On to the food. Fusion Wasabi does not just serve Sushi, they also have Hibachi style cooking, which is what I love. The cooks are great and put on a good show. The Hibachi food is very delicious and the portions are very generous. You’ll need a nap after filling your belly here. If you’re in Tucson and love Japanese style Hibachi, you can’t miss with Fusion Wasabi.

Tucson is the first stop on the road trip the wife and I are on. I am DJing in El Paso tonight and then we are heading to Albuquerque and Flagstaff before we head home to LA. We got into our hotel last night and wanted a bite before calling it a night. Luckily for us Fusion Wasabi was open. The reviews on Unilocal were good for the food but not so hot on the service. With that in mind, we walked in. We were quickly seated and placed our drink orders. They had a nice selection of sakes so we decided to partake. The service on our night was very good. They were very attentive. Now on to the food. The wife ordered the asparagus/steak roll appetizer. The flavor was great but it came covered in a thick sweet sauce. Maybe this could have cone on the side to dip because it was just too much on the plate. Sashimi came next, which was albacore and salmon. Both were fresh and tasty. We ordered 3 rolls. The ultimate spicy salmon roll was great. Just the right amount of heat. The«nutty» roll was amazing. It was basically a shrimp tempura roll covered in albacore, avacado, crushed peanuts and this amazing green sauce. I had never had peanuts on a roll before but it worked so well. It provided a nice crunch and a little bit of salt. The last roll was another special roll. I forgot the name of it but it was a riceless roll that used cucumber instead of nori. It had this mixture of roe and tempura flakes that covered the lobster meat. Again another winning combo. This was a great way to start off the trip and when I am in Tucson again, I would make sure to return here again.

Fusion Wasabi has tasty, tasty lunch specials served at reasonable prices. I’m a big fan of the Habachi Shrimp bento box, filled with a generous serving of teppan-style shrimp, rice, edamame, orange slices, and mixed stir-fry vegetables. The place does get packed, which can lead to slower service, but I’ve always been in and out in under an hour. I can’t say much about the sushi as all I’ve ever sampled was the California roll, but it was definitely on par with some of the better sushi I’ve had. I did chuckle at the SB1070 roll they have on their menu right now. The dinner menu is a little pricier, and while the quality is great at their lunch prices, I’m not sure that I’d recommend it for dinner. Fusion Wasabi falls into my «Lunch Good» category — fan-freaking-tastic for a work lunch break, never enters my mind for dinner or a weekend dining experience.

Funky fun rolls– delicioso orange shrimp, fun atmosphere, and I was lucky enough to get a slightly snarky waiter! The worst thing I can say about this place is the drink list was slightly mundane, but I managed to find the most bizarre drink on the menu(cucumber sake martini) and ordered it and NOMNOMNOM!!! Overall fantastic experience. GOFORTHANDSUSHI!!!

Fusion Wasabi as it is now known as. can be described as AVERAGE. Typical rolls made with decent quality seafood… can be found in almost any sushi joint. Tacky décor. Sub par service. Thinking of this place does not make my mouth water for sushi, which is odd since sushi is my meal of choice. In the neighborhood? Sure check it out. Want to take your underage date here? Might as well. All others… just go elsewhere!

Let me preface this by stating that I am in no way, shape, form, cosmic anomaly or previous life a sushi expert… not even close. I do, however, know what tastes good when I put it in my mouth. This place now goes by the name Fusion Wasabi. It may as well be called WasabiRama. Good food is good food. My daughter had been here for a friend’s birthday and wanted to go for hers, so I took her for lunch. She(and I) were stupefied about what to order. The waitress took some time and explained a lot about mostly the sushi. They also have other dishes like orange chicken, udon soup and noodle dishes. We came to rest on the Tony roll and the Wildcat roll for sushi. My daughter ordered the orange chicken and I ordered the Shrimp Yakisoba. The Tony roll had eel, cream cheese and other goodies and was fried tempura style. The Wildcat roll had tempura crab, cream cheese and was topped with«tempura flakes». Again, I am not a sushi expert, but we both enjoyed the sushi a lot. If I had one quibble, there seemed to be a lot of cream cheese, but everything tasted fresh. Our entrees were good and we ended up taking most of them home as our eyes turned out to be bigger than our stomachs. Service was good. I look forward to going back. If there is such a thing as sushi training, I need it so I don’t feel so ignorant when ordering next time.

Korean owned sushi joint with strip club neon lights, specializing in jive ass California rolls and other cooked stuff. The teppan tables are manned by white guys, which I find ironic, because in California all of the teppan tables are staffed by Mexicans.

First of all let me say that the food is great. I had a New Jersey role and it was some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. What makes this a bad review is an experience I had at lunch. Service was late, it took like 30 minutes just to get somebody to take our order. It took another hour for the food to come, and what seemed like another 30 minutes just to pay for the meal. Poor, poor service. At least 3 times the waiter was condescending and rude. If they could figure out a way to get the food out faster, and fire all the waiters it might be a great place. Until then if I get the hankering for a New Jersey role I’m just going to get it to go so I don’t have to deal with the crappy service. I’m never taking friends there again. It was embarrassing.
