Good Korean food. I haven’t had the sushi here. Banchan could be more plentiful. The mussels in my cham pong weren’t open, and disregarding the whole food safety debate, it would’ve been nice to have this issue squared away in the kitchen instead of asking for a knife to do it myself. When I came with a larger party, the waitress asked us to write our orders down so she could get them correct. It was a good move on her part. Rich’s recommendation: give it a go; it’s cleaner and larger than the other Korean places in town.

My BF and I flew to Tucson for his sisters birthday. We ate here for dinner. This place is different, it’s an all you can eat sushi and you can cook different meat in front of you. His parents and I got the all you can eat sushi, while everyone else got entrees. We are used to cooking meat for all you can eat back in SD. But the plates were ridiculously priced for one plate of meet. The sushi was good! We ate a bunch and they were also able to make a custom roll for me. Workers were also staffed and very nice to everyone around!

My wife and I decided to come up and give it a try. The best Japanese or Asian restaurant in SV is Tanuki. But we wanted to find a good buffet. Takamatsu’s buffet is better than any Asian buffet in Cochise County for sure …

Chirashi. I’ve never had a good bowl of chirashi in Tucson but stoopidly I keep on trying. This one was total rip off. Took forever for the waiter to bring it and then quick as a flash he vanished. No wasabi, no ginger, no tamago, no roe, no nuthin’. What he brought was a big bowl of plain white rice with a big glob of cheap filler on top consisting of seaweed and pea sprouts. Under that they carelessly tossed some little slivers of fish which was totally mediocre and some pieces were just cheap smoked fish. That was it. Look, it’s not that hard to make a good chirashi dish. Give me a knife and put me behind the counter and I’ll show you how. The problem is all these dives want to save money by not putting any of the good stuff on it. Zero stars rounded up to 1 because that’s as low as I can go. PS This is the first time I’ve been back here since the fire. I don’t know, maybe they still do Korean good. The sushi sucked before the fire too, but the Korean food was good.

Sushi lunch. Mediocre at best. Nothing tasted very fresh. Will never eat sushi here again.

Went down to Tucson to visit my son in college. I know he would be missing Korean food so I pulled Unilocal and found this restaurant. Didn’t know what to expect as Takamatsu in Phoenix is probably the worst korean food that I’ve ever had… don’t even get me started about the services. Not the case here. Service was very attentive. We ordered the Kalbi for table top cooking. Not only was it delicious. it was very generous. The meat was way more than you get at any restaurant in Arizona. You would have to go to LA to find the quality, quantity and taste. I was pleasantly surprised. I would venture to say that the ownership must be different from the ones in Phoenix. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for some quality Korean food outside of LA.

This restaurant is just gross. Don’t bother coming here, I don’t know why we stayed after it took them 30 minutes to bring our KBBQ out… when… we’re the ones cooking the meat, not them. When I asked one of the waiters where our food is he smirked and laughed at us. Cool, thanks for the awesome customer service. Sorry you don’t like your job… but you just ruin the reputation of this place. My water had particulars in it. The meat looked old and DID not taste like bulgogi. I love Korean food and this place made me not want to have it again for awhile… Like, this place was horrendous.

First of all the place was very dirty. The hostess was also very rude. So upset we didn’t even order we just got up and left. Very disappointing experience do not eat at this place! Don’t even want to assign a star but it won’t let me post this without one.

This place is fucking solid. I’m surprised more people don’t come down on a Friday night. I had yellow tail, which was really good. Not fishy at all… exactly what yellow tail should be. The seared garlic albacore was *awesome*. Bang up job. Tempura Shrimp? Solid. Bulgogi? Friggin’ solid. In case anyone’s wondering…‘solid’ is high praise.

I’ve been coming here for years(since 2000 lol) to get my Korean food and it never disappointed. From the traditional stews to their BBQ, it’s what it should taste like. This means a lot coming from me especially I am Korean and I love Korean food. This is by far the most authentic Korean restaurant in tucson. As of recent I’ve been coming here for sushi due to poor customer service at the sushi garden, I gotta tell ya… I’ve been coming here a lot. The sushi chefs go out of their way to make sure you get your food fast and also when I was there last they offered me different varieties of sushi that was not on the menu. They were excellent. I highly, highly recommend everyone who’s visiting or living in Tucson to try Takamatsu.

The dinner last night was absolutely perfect. Our waiter, which coincidentally was our waiter last time, was perfect! He suggested a delicious dish. You’ll have to forgive me but I forgot the name. It’s a stew that normally comes with seafood in it but because my husband is a coward when it comes to new things, we had ours with pork. It also had tofu in it. So very delicious it was! lol This place is definitely becoming a favorite of mine!

A long time favorite!!! I used to come here to the tepan, which was the best in town! Since the fire took that out, It was a adjustment! The five stars is based on the fact that I love their sauce!!! They have best salad dressing ever! Their ginger sauce is amazing was well! For the price, the buffet is a great deal! I like the sushi and I can still order some of my old favorites with out the chef cooking it! The service is always good, Alex is the best server! I would definitely recommend this place! The sushi nachos are fun, and in my opinion the vegetables fried rice is a must have. Sounds basic I know but I love it! Ps. I hate how if I don’t write a long enlighten review it just posts it as a «comment@ or something! Like one paragraph isn’t enough?

This place is nicely remodeled. The women’s bathroom was very clean. The seating in the dining room doesn’t have particularly interesting décor, so we chose to sit at the sushi bar. Which was an excellent idea. The waitstaff was almost too good –they were super prompt and attentive — we never had to wait for water or another order of saki :-) The sushi chef we had was really fun. He chatted with us a bit, left us to our own conversation when we wanted it, was perfect. and he gave recommendations for some pieces of sushi to try and he was SPOTON! So definitely talk to them about specials or anything they’d recommend. The sushi was honestly some of the best I’ve had in town. The garlic ahi pieces were my favorite — the roll that they cook in an open flame is another really fun one to try!

I was a little too early for Happy Hour, but they definitely have a solid menu set up for it. Also, the All-You-Can-Eat-Sushi is only $ 22 anytime if the day, so that’s a bonus. The seating arrangement is gapped nicely, so you won’t be bumping elbows here; which is usually the norm at sushi places. The food honestly wasn’t as good as I would have liked it to be, & the variety is slim, but it’s a REALLY good variety of uncommon items. The staff is extremely cordial, & attentive; so don’t be afraid to tip well. I wouldn’t use this as a date-destination, but it’s definitely a solid lunch spot.

ALLYOUCANSTARVESUSHI Face plant. Our first clue should have been the empty dining room, yet we had to wait 15 minutes to be seated so the«server could catch up.» We sat at the table for ANHOUR, yet no food arrived– not even our appetizers. Our server was surly, slow, and our order was taken by the hostess(because our server was non-existent). We ordered a mojito, which was undrinkable because it was way too sweet. We asked if it was possible to make one less sweet– the answer was surprisingly«no,» but the real kicker was the offer to make a mojito with«Sprite.» Huh? After an hour of waiting, all we had were two bad drinks, an empty iced tea which never got refilled, and hunger pains. Ultimately we walked out. We could wait no longer.

I ended up at Takamatsu with a bunch of co-workers, and the best thing I can say about the restaurant is that it managed a large group in a reasonable amount of time during the lunch hour. I’ve been here once before, but I don’t expect to be back. I’m not extremely familiar with Korean food, but I like some adventure, so I ordered the Oh Sahm Bulgogi — described as spicy beef and calamari, with Korean side dishes. The side dishes were interesting and slightly unexpected. I think they were all pickled, and I had never so much as had kimchi before. When my food arrived, it was a giant, sizzling plate covered in beef, tiny squid arms, jalapeños, and plenty of red chili. I scooped up a big bite, and found myself overflowing with disappointment. First of all, it wasn’t spicy. I don’t know how you can put so many jalapeños in something and have it come out mild, but they did. The red chili peppers did it no favors, either. The bigger problem was the«calamari», which was cooked until it was too hard to chew. It was actually disgustingly overcooked. If I wasn’t with a big group, I’d have sent it back. Instead, I ate around it – the beef wasn’t awful(although I thought it was also overcooked), and I was hungry. I’m not sorry for trying new things, but I wouldn’t recommend Takamatsu to anybody.

ALLYOUCANEATSUSHI is an amazing deal. Borggggggggg. I will never do that again. It was delicious and great fun to try new rolls and sushi … but rice expands in your gut … they had to roll me back to my truck in a wheel barrow … poofffffffff. Very nice people. Clean setting. Sports on TV = snore zzzzzzzzzz. I will go back and try the Lunch buffet but I will take a food coach to stop me from porking out … snort, snort…

We had good food… Sat at the sushi counter and had exceptional service from our sushi chef who was very attentive and talkative.(So sushi and service get 5 stars). My issue was with the timing of service– we ordered a child’s meal right away after sitting down(chicken) and then drinks for the adults and the adult’s food(sushi rolls). Unfortunately, the food for the adults came and was eaten before the child’s meal came, even though we tried to eat slowly and kept asking where his food was. This is a pretty big deal… having to deal with a child who is hungry and watching all the adults eat is not pleasant. Our sushi chef seemed to be the only one concerned about this and went to the back to ask several times where the child’s food was. When we got the bill they charged for the children’s meal and out of principle I asked for it to be removed, which after manager approval, was done. I feel that the should have offered this on their own since the meal was awkward and the child had absolutely no food in front of him for over an hour. Yikes.

Anyone who thinks the all you can eat sushi here is good is straight up crazy, insane, and has never had good sushi before. Service was INCREDIBLESLOW. We had the all you can eat and waited 45 min in between orders. RIDICULOUS. they also pack the hell out of each nigiri so that you get full. I’ve been to a lot of AYCE sushi places and none of them really purposely do it. The experience was so ridiculous I almost didn’t know how to react to it. We all just ended up laughing out of shock.
