This restaurant is dead. They closed for an enormous amount of time and reopened as Hot Fusion. No buffet. No giant stone cooking(dont know what that thing is called other than that). I did not even look at their menu. I just walked out. Now I have to keep eating at the far inferior ULike Buffet. So glad I am leaving Tucson and its lack of good chinese restaurants. Brocolli is NOT a chinese vegetable, people!

Since I was here about a month ago, I have to say that the food has improved than what some the past Unilocalers have reported. The place was empty and I thought it was closed, but the lady at the front welcomed my family and I with warmth. Most of the food has been located to the right side of the place(they are fixing the left side with new tile I think) and they have your regular fare you find at most buffets. I found the offered food was hot, fresh, and plentiful. The best dish would have to be jalapeño chicken though. It was very tasty and the peppers were hot enough to clear your sinuses.(A plus in my book.) There was an interesting dish that said it was curry… not sure if it really was because it didn’t look like any curry I have ever seen. Smelled like curry and I did try it. Was good! Looked odd but was really good! The soup was flavorful and there was alot of tofu in the hot and sour which is a good thing. The big Mongolian grill is there and it does take them awhile to get it going if you want to put your bowl together, but since there is hardly anyone there, I think the cook simply keeps it clean but doesn’t bother with it much as most people that do come in, simply hit the trays will food already cooked.(quite a shame) Since my family was one of the few families in there(think there were 4 others besides us) we had excellent service. Glasses were always full and dishes were cleared promptly. She’s an older woman and was very polite and did chat with everyone who was there asking if there was anything she could do.(perhaps the owner? or owners mom?) Anyway, give this place a second chance. Food has gotten better since last year and the place is trying to bring people back by fixing it up, offering hot good food, and little treats here and there.

Maxim Super Buffet is now charging EXTRA for soup when you order the buffet to go. It used to come free, and now they are charging $ 2 for a small soup cup, and $ 4 for a large soup cup! That is a ridiculous charge, considering that if you order the buffet and eat in the restaurant, the soup comes free of charge. Add that to the fact that at all times, at least half of their food trays are empty or nearly empty, and the food is almost always cold… and yeah, we probably won’t be back. Way to lose business!!! Wise up.

This was a HUGE mistake!!! Neither one of us finished one plate… we actually left and went somewhere else. Nothing seemed fresh, many items were empty i.e. low mein, steam buns… meat was rock hard… ugh. Never even saw the Mongolian grill on. Gross experience.

I went here last weekend. It was horrible! The selections were either tasteless or over salted. I felt like I had to drink more water to equal out the salt intake. Even the oyster tasted like it was weeks old! The only good dish here at the buffet was the Mongolian BBQ, which you can’t go wrong since you’re adding all the things you want and your in control with how much seasoning and oil you want to add to it. I left there unsatisfied and with a very terrible stomach ache, followed by nausea the next day at work. I was not a happy camper!

We were in the area and decided to try this buffet out. It was at 11am so we thought we were getting fresh food. We walked in and were immediatly greeted and told to pay after we ate and then taken to our table. Their was two other persons already their eating. The actual building is very big and not much going on, but i said it before, that doesnt bother me. I care about the food. We then grab a plate and start serving ourselves. They do have a lot of choices for chinese food, and they also had tempura sushi. I also saw that they have a mongolian grill whhere you can create your own stir-fry. We didnt try it. I went back to my table to eat, and took a spoonfull of rice to my mouth. It was cold! Actually everyting on my plate was cold. The food was ok, it wasnt bad but it wasnt the greatest. The rice was very tasty, not bland or dry. The only thing that was hot were the pork dumplings, which were very tasty. I also tried the hot & sour soup and it wasnt very good, it was very vinegary. The service was good, the man that greeted us at the door was the one that brought our drinks to our table and refilled them. There was also two other ladies, one was sitting at a table with all the checks and the other was walking around stirring all the food. Something that really bothered me was a loud old-washing-machine-like noise. It was very loud and distracting, I kept wondering what it was. It wasnt until we got up to leave that I noticed it was the ice cream machine! Overall, this wasnt a buffet that I LOVED, but when do you love a buffet?

Interesting concept of Korean BBQ and Chinese Buffet. Easy parking most of the time. Service seems about what you expect at a Buffet. Great value.

Maxim continues to be one of my favorite Tucson buffets. However, as a critic, I must be honest. The food quality has trended from«great» to «average». Not sure why, but it seems the richness in flavor and preparedness of the dished seem below par. The inside is trying to be posh when it’s … a buffet. A spade is a spade and this place shows it. The service is «good» in the context of a buffet … but that’s about it. I have hope they could remedy their offering and service. Since I am loyal in some ways to the establishment I give them four stars.

The food was just ok. We went on a Sunday night around 7 pm and it was kinda dead which should have tipped us off. We at there anyways and the food on the buffet was just ok, the Mongolian BBQ was ok also, I just expected a little better. The previous review said that the clientele was a little strange which was kinda true. Overall, price wasn’t bad but the food also wasn’t that great.

Unless you like praying to the porcelain gods… skip this place. Food was stale, buffet was poorly stocked and I lost a good five pounds in the subsequent purge.

Mediocre. Food is mostly okay, I guess. Could be better selection. Some seedy looking clientele frequent the place, though, for some reason, a dingy looking white station wagon is at times parked near the restaurant, which is the old Gourdo’s restaurant in the rear of the shopping plaza. I would not go out of my way to go there.
