«It’s no El Pollo Loco.» EXACTLY!!! In fact, it’s BETTER! Stopped by on a whim since a local radio station was doing a promo out front to celebrate Pollo Feliz’ anniversary with a giant chicken walking around, balloons, musica and a whole lot of noise. I mean, who doesn’t want to have lunch with a giant strolling chicken? The chicken is perfectly cooked — charbroiled and crispy on the outside, moist(ugh, that word!), flavorful and succulent on the inside. Ay yi yi, so good. We did the current BOGO deal on the 8-piece family chicken meal which came with rice, beans and tortillas. But I wasn’t about to put any filler like rice and beans in my mouth once I tasted that chicken and the soft, fresh corn tortillas. I put some of that perfect chicken, deliciously spicy pico/salsa(key word here — spicy… as it should be — pretty sure they use fresh serranos. Mmmmm) together and enveloped it in to the corniest corn tortilla I’ve had lately and before you could say«abre la boca», it was devoured. The salsa bar is well stocked and has some delicious food items including pickled onion and lots of limes. Their tomatillo salsa is spicier than I’m typically used to but so good! I just wish they had some of that creamy, thin avocado salsa to dip my cucumbers and radishes in. We were about to load all the extra food in to the truck to go home when the radio station out front did the first drawing for an 8-piece family chicken meal. Guess who’s refrigerator is STOCKED with Pollo Feliz now???

Pros: Chicken is char broiled and the food is great. Always. Cons: Check your to go order before you pull away because something will be left out. The cashier, Edelia, was in a hurry, and the only one up front at 6pm. Hard to talk to because she would hand you something and quickly close the window with no time to interact. When she finally came back to collect pen and cc slip and hand over the order, she seemed startled I could talk as I requested limes and green salsa. I waited several minutes while she rang up and bagged another order and then she walked out front, first for limes, then a second trip out front for a cup of salsa, both off the self serve salsa bar. Side of jalapenos for quesadilla she said would be included when I placed the order was missing when I got home. This was not efficient and she was definitely focused on the task, not the customer. Would have been 5 stars if the tasks were completed and had she paused to thank me for my order. It was not super busy as there was plenty of standing around time.

I’m being doing the«low carb» diet for a few weeks now, and if I have another salad I’m just going to lose it. Ran over here on a lunch hour — they have drive thru = score! Got a couple of chicken breasts and some charro beans. Chicken turned that lovely orange color that comes with the southwestern marinade and mesquite grilling. Delicious — smoky, cooked just right. Their beans were delicious too. Drive on by… or, just follow the great grilling smell that eminates for blocks around.
