Total sadness! Our favorite dessert lounge is out of business. We’ve been going their for years even before the new owners. We were never disappointed with the desserts and they were always fresh. I loved the Honey Ricotta Cheesecake and the Chocolate fudge cake … the Red Velvet cake was perfect! More evidence of the mass exodus of the Tucson and Arizona employment base. This one is a real shame!

I order a dozen cupcakes and asked for them to ice a special message(Treat, Yo, Self.) When I picked up the cupcakes, there was no iced message. They refused to do this. At no point until I picked up my cupcakes did they inform me that they would not do a one word special lettering on them. I had to purchase icing and write the message myself. It surprised me that such a popular bakery would refuse to complete a simple request. The cupcakes were tasty, but not amazing, or maybe better said, I could have purchased cupcakes at a grocery store for at a lower price and would have been equally satisfied. I am very disappointed with the service I received.

Something Sweet used to be a great place with great deserts that were wonderful. Most times I was unable to finish my chocolate toffee mousse desert is how the big the servings WERE! I went last night and my friend ordered the chocolate chocolate cream pie that was the size of a cookie with lots of whip cream on top — seemed like a pie in a tort crust. The chocolate toffee mouse was ½ of the size it used to be. They used to be made at the shop, now they taste like they are from a box. The new menu is terrible — no more pictures of the food and when did green corn tamales become sweet? The worst part was when this was mentioned to the server — she gigged each time and said ‘I don’t know’ or ‘I don’t know why our pies are so small’. No mention that she would say something to the owner or manager.

When I heard the name, «Something Sweet Dessert Lounge,» I thought of a more romantic and quaint place that you could end an awesome date with. However, when I walked in it looked and smelled more like a donut shop that my imagination. The staff was super friendly, but the desserts were subpar and the atmosphere was probably the killer of it all. The desserts were rather expensive and like other reviews have stated, you knew they were taken from a box in the back. I was rather disappointed by the ambiance and the quality of desserts. This place could do well if they dimmed the lights, put more than just cheap booths and tables in the place and had homemade desserts.

Something Sweet is a casual dessert lounge that you and your friends can just wander into at leisure and enjoy yourself. Stocked full of desserts and guilty after-dinner pleasures, this restaurant tries to and almost succeeds in providing a lazy, comfortable environment that’s dangerously close to engaging and enticing. The food is delicious. The cheesecakes and pies are well made, although likely baked a few days prior or early the day of. While I’ve never taken part in the coma-inducing dessert contest, simply the presence of a grandiose specialty item supplies a much needed flair. The environment falls short of expectations. While the general patrons seem to be there to relax, play board games, and eat sweet things, very little of the space suggests a lounge temperament. I understand that ultimately it’s a restaurant and money comes from tables per hour. But when constituents are present largely for the fun and games, catering to the simple comforts become all the more important. Board games are most often enjoyed at home or with friends. Put board games and the laziness of home together, and then you’ve got something special. Or rather, something sweeter.

Sweet Something has only one choice of ice cream for their«Ice Cream Treats,» vanilla. I did enjoy my Vanilla Sundae with Strawberries and caramel syrup, but they should have had more flavors and toppings to choose from. Sweet Something Dessert Lounge 5319 E Speedway Blvd Tucson, AZ85712 Re: Choices To Whom It May Concern: If you’re going to serve ice cream, please have multiple flavors choices. On your menu, it says that you only have Vanilla. Three flavors should be the bare minimum. You currently have 11 ice cream toppings, though some essentially repeat: i.e., Strawberries and Strawberry syrup AND Chocolate Chips and Chocolate syrup. It does not require much space to store additional toppings. Ideally, you should have double the amount of toppings that you currently have. Sincerely, Concerned Customer

I don’t want to be a hater but this place sucks. The desserts have that cheap frozen box food taste. There was plenty of people here though. Nice staff. Cool environment. Real social place to chill and relax. Ordered the chocolate fudge cake it was horrible. ordered a blt sandwhich it was okay. . P.s I thought I would add this. as bad as it was I still ate it all. It’s not horrible like that. Just not what i expected .I had the munchies :) so It could of been Walmart bakery and I would of ate every drop.

I really do love this restaurant which is why it doesn’t get less stars. You may be confused as to why I rated it so slow and the answer to that is the service. I’ve been three times now and the service has ranged from lackluster to just awful. On my most recent visit, I went with two of my friends and we walked in during a rush when they sat 6 tables at once but it took them 15 minutes to be acknowledged after we were sat. Turns out, the server didn’t know that we were in her section and the hostess apologized and found our server. She was nice, however very unapologetic, which was a little disappointing. Also, the food takes 20 minutes to come out after you order it, which seems a little excessive. Now for the good… the desserts are amazing! But be careful of getting you heart set on anything before you get here because they can run out. My favorite is the Crème brûlée and they were out last time I came, which broke my heart which forced me to try a couple other things(hot chocolate and key lime pie) which were also amazing! If the service ever improves, I’ll be changing my review to 5 stars…

This is a cute little place with every dessert you could dream of. My boyfriend and I went recently to end the night on a sweet note. He ordered some type of chocolate cake, and I got the key lime pie. I’m not a big cake fan, so I can’t attest to its deliciousness, but the boyfriend seemed to like it. My pie was good, but not amazing, and I’m pretty picky about my desserts. I would definitely come back here, but I think the desserts are probably all pretty standard, and not blow your mind amazing.

Although there is a fine selection of desserts, they certainly are not fine in quality. This is a great place to come and hang out with your friends… as long as you do not have high expectations on the food. They also have a large selection of board games you can play. The staff was quite anal. There was 13 of us. Only ONE person did not make an order. The waitress told us that he was not allowed to play the board game with us because he did not order. SERIOUSLYNOW? Take that stick out of your ass, management. What I love about going out in a large group is you get to taste what other people order. I got to try these: Strawberry Short Cake = You’re better off getting this at the Dairy Queen. I’m not kidding. The short cake was like a hard, cold, and dry piece of scone that has been left out all day. Chocolate Volcano Cake = Good only in the first bites because after that, you realize how grainy it tastes. Not as soft, fluffy, or consistent as it should be. You can get a WAY better version of this at California Pizza Kitchen. Coconut cream pie = Very cute presentation with the tropical coconut tree garnish. However, it tasted like a bag of coconut flakes lump together with glue. Everyone should stick to Marie Calender’s for pie. Red Velvet Cake = Was sweet… and that was it. I could not taste the red velvet flavor. Cookies N Cream Pie = Mushy glob. Nothing special. I rather eat the Hershey’s Cookies N Cream candy bar. 10x more satisfying. Plus side: Check in on Unilocal to get a free soda or coffee. The waitress was nice enough to give us separate bills and allow each of us to use our phone app. Would I revisit or recommend to a friend? No and no.

Ever since they got new management it seems like things have just gone down hill. Some examples are; they now only have one blender for shakes even though a group of people may order more than one shake, they never have a certain cake, the last time I went the cake tasted like raw dough and wasn’t baked all the way, the customer service was very rude and forgot about me and my friends most of the time. I used to really like this place but again something happened to just make it a place I never want to go again.

A large selection of deserts, large selection of teas and a decent selection of board games. It is a great way to get out at night with a group of friends for a session of alcohol free fun, no worrying about selecting a designated driver. The quality of deserts vary. Some are really delicious and some are so-so. They have allot of dud board games, if its busy, all the good ones are taken. All and all a fun thing to try.

Was here tonight with a group of friends to eat and play games. The key to understanding this place is to think of it as a lounge that serves food, not a restaurant. I ordered a turkey bacon melt, and it was pretty good. The potato salad was no better than what you might buy in a supermarket. The desserts were only so-so in my opinion. But there’s more. We spent several hours enjoying each others’ company, and playing games. It’s a pleasant place to do this. Consider the food as a bonus. Because we were a group, they added a 20% gratuity to each check(they were happy to do separate checks), but on the charge slip there was still a blank for an additional gratuity. This kind of irked me, as if they were fishing for«double tipping». The place was clean, and the service was friendly, if a bit slow. It looked like one server handles the front of the house and one cook handles the back, so it depends on the number of customers. If you arrive as a group, you’re probably happy to take it easy and talk for a while. All in all, not great, but a bit above average for places that welcome this kind of traffic.

I’ll keep this quick — and it’s mostly in response to other people’s reviews. Me and my guy liked it! His piece of pie(cookies & cream pie) was smaller than we anticipated, but hey, we considered that portion control. My piece of pecan was tasty, and I stick by my choice of getting it a la mode. We were impressed with the game selection, and the decaf coffee was predictable, but just what I wanted. It’s a casual place, and the seating options reflect that. We’ll be back if we don’t feel like going out to a bar — great hang out spot! Verdict: Good, enjoyable, not stellar.

Something Sweet is a good place for staying late, playing a game, and hanging out with friends — that they have coffee and dessert is a bonus, but I’d say the food is not the star here. Our waitress was great. No problems there. And the coffee was good. But the desserts had some issues. I ordered the coconut cream pie and overall is was pleasant, but some bites had really salty crust. The espresso torte was all chocolate and no espresso. The orange ricotta cake’s frosting was so sugary, you could feel the granules on your tongue.

I went today with a livingsocial deal that was purchased back in October 2012, and I double checked the reviews and noticed that the place has been getting pretty bad reviews the past few months. I was doubtful and kind of regretted purchasing the deal since I have never gone to this place before, but husband said«might as well, gotta use the deal before it expires.» We arrived around 1pm and there were no tables occupied, but right when we walked into the restaurant, the waitress named Joann promptly greeted us and sat us at a table. Hubby and I looked at the menu and it was actually filled with decent things. The previous reviews stated there was probably more things on the menu, but as I have never been there, it had a decent selection to me. We ordered a turkey sandwich and a club sandwich as well as tomato and bacon potato soup with deviled eggs and a Turkish hot coca. Joann brought over two cups of water immediately and was patient with us as we ordered off the menu. She then brought over the Turkish hot coca and to my delight, it was delicious! I loved the orange essence after taste in it! We waited about another ten mins for the soup and toast to arrive with the deviled eggs and both soups were pretty good and we can tell it was homemade. Then the sandwiches arrived with a side of potato salad and pickle. And again, it was a really well made sandwich, at least for my taste buds. Hubby and I were pleasantly pleased by the food and the complimentary cookies and cream pie that came with the full $ 25 living social order(as long as you completely use up the $ 25 of the deal to get the dessert free). Overall, the service and the food was wonderful, and I would go back again if we happen to pass by the area. Service: Joann was awesome. A+ Food: 4.5÷5 A(I rarely give 5⁄5 for food unless we are talking high quality ingredients or one of those exquisite restaurants in the Catalina Hills area) I can only imagine how mind blowing it would have been had it been under old owners? But even so, under new management, it was pretty good imo.

Ahhhh Something Sweet used to be good, unfortunately, recently the quality has really gone down. The cakes don’t taste the same and neither do the prices! I would recommend making your own cake or even something from Safeway could be better.

OMG! My first time here was last Friday and it was wonderful. There were 6 of us and we each had something different. We all tasted what each other had and every dessert was awesome! I will be going back for sure! The atmosphere is nice, great coffee and a fun place to hang out and play games or cards.
