Oh, the pies!!! Just follow the signs to the back of the building. I had the sugar free strawberry pie. My friends had German chocolate pies around. Next time I’ll try the savory pie for a meal. I’m completely obsessed with this shop!

The pies! It’s all about the sweet, delicious, almost personal sized pies. I bought pumpkin, cherry and pecan pies for Thanksgiving and they were a hit! Five pies was like $ 30 bucks– that’s a steal for fresh, local goodies. Back dough is tucked away behind beyond bread and has its own entrance, just there’s signage to lead the way. I’m looking forward to tying out their savory pies very soon!

How did my unyielding sweet tooth and I not know about this place sooner? This place is legit. Tricky to find but definitely worth the search. Tip: just go inside of Beyond Bread and follow the pie signs.
The pies are delicious! The crust is great and the fillings even more so. That sour cream apple pie is an absolute must!
We tried a savory pie. I’m usually not a fan of pot pies (I think the fillings look like throw-​up) but these are pretty yummy! These come with heating instructions too (oven or microwave) so you can enjoy a nice warm meal. Another tip: Remove pie from foil tin if you are going the microwave route. Or keep the Tucson Fire Department number at hand, your choice.

Hands down, best pies around. Haven’t had a pie that I didn’t like. Fruit, pumpkin, berry, chocolate PB, lemon meringue, pecan, chicken pot pie, the list goes on, this place has it all! The crust is delicious and buttery. I love that all they bake there is pies, so they invest in the quality. I also love the prices, even the pecan pies are the same price as the fruit pies.

Today was my second visit… These unbelievable delicious pies are dangerous, they are too good… Really flaky, buttery, home made crusts on all… First round, I got chicken pot pie, absolutely one of the best I have ever had, and a mixed berry pie. and spread the two of them out over three days before I dared return for more… These pies are going to make me fat (ter)…went back today: Ham quiche, and No sugar strawberry, both absolutely scrumptious… best pie crust ever… I have to get their recipe; truly some of the best I have had anywhere… and I am a Foodie, moved here from San Francisco where I had become used to 3 and 4 star restaurants: Zuni Café, Chez Pannise, Slanted Door… Few restaurants in Tucson are as good, but Beyond Bread, and now Back Dough I go back and back and always will unless some big changes… Such a find, Back Dough, and you get delicious cornbread with pot pies and quiches… And there is the unmatched anywhere, the fabulous Ms. Crystal, waiting on your every whim… easy to laugh… She is my favorite already… Great place, this… Go, you’ll be very glad !!! yogi, tucson desert…

I hadn’t noticed Back Dough before, but recently drove past their sandwich board sign next to the curb on Wilmot and decided to look it up online. The rave reviews sealed the deal… I had to go in and check it out!
I went in and got some of the Chicken Pot Pies for dinner (with a super cute saguaro cut-​out/​accent on the top of the crust!), as well as the Strawberry Margarita pie, and the Chocolate Peanut Butter pie for dessert.
Chicken Pot Pie: Two thumbs up! The crust was particularly impressive, in my opinion. Flaky, tender, and buttery. The filling had plenty of chicken (white meat), which I appreciated. Everything had a good flavor. Each pie also came with a full sized cornbread muffin! $ 5.99 is a steal! Overall, we gave them ⁸⁄₁₀.
Strawberry Margarita: This is a Key Lime pie with a layer of strawberries + glaze on top. It was my choice for «something different», and well received. The base had a nice bite, and the strawberry topping blended nicely. The graham cracker crust was nothing super special, but good. Overall, we gave it ⁷⁄₁₀.
Chocolate Peanut Butter: Again, the crust was nice. It was not too dry, and had a real buttery flavor (not fake/​chemical buttery flavor). This pie is a layer of chocolate silk with a layer of peanut butter, er, silk? On top. Plus whipped cream garnished with chocolate sprinkles and chopped peanuts. The gal behind the counter told me that their peanut butter silk/​cream layer is made with chunky peanut butter, and I really liked that! This is NOT an overly sweet pie like some versions of the chocolate+PB combo I’ve tried in the past. It definitely tastes homemade vs. commercially overly sweet/​HFCS-​y. I appreciated that a lot! Overall, we gave this one ⁷⁄₁₀ again.
I, too, was told about their program offering a free pie when you bring back 10 of their pie tins to recycle. I think it will be an easy mark to hit, because I can’t wait to go back and try some more flavors!
Edit: I’ve been back several times, and have to add that their Ham and Spinach quiches are DELICIOUS! Easily one of the top 3 quiches I’ve ever had. And the Sour Cream Lemon pie is now a solid favorite. Highly recommend the Kahlua Cream Cheese for «something different» that’s not fruity, too.

We had been wanting to drop by Back Dough since forever. I suspect that that was the reason we went gaga and bought 4 boxes of pies. We got key lime pie, Boston cream pie, peanut butter chocolate pie and ham & spinach quiche. So far, my favorite is the key lime pie! It was creamy and had the perfect amount of tanginess. Next time, I plan to get the lemon meringue.

Let’s just say saving 10 tins for a free pie is a shoe in! Is it your turn to bring dessert to the dinner? Don’t bring one… Bring 5! At $ 5.99 each you can’t go wrong. Don’t know which one to buy? Buy 5! The crust is da bomb too. YUM

My fiancé and I stopped here for the first time. We’ve been eyeing it for a while.

I’ve never had pie that was so good! The cherry isn’t too sweet. The French Apple is much sweeter and bursting with flavor!
This is probably where I’m getting pie from now on. The crust is flaky. Unlike the regular stores that have oily pies, these ones taste like butter! Very yummy! 5 stars!

I passed by this place several times before I decided to give it a try – boy, am i glad that I did. While I wanted to take home every pie in the display case, I ended up getting the fresh strawberry and the sour cream blueberry pies. OMG!!! Soooo, tasty!!! They were both utterly delicious and the pie crust (a pie make-​it-​or-​break-​it for me) was very good. Each pie could easily satisfy three people and the price is quite reasonable. My only regret is that it is so far from my house, but that just makes me anticipate my next trip out here all the more. I’m already looking forward to taking home their Boston cream pie.

Oh, my. What a treasure of taste sensations. Little pies everywhere: Turkey Pot Pie (my fav), Chicken Pot Pie, Quiche. And all those sweet pies! Boston Crème, Coconut, Key Lime, Apple, etc, etc. Each pie only $ 5.99. What a tasty deal… hidden behind Beyond Bread and facing you as you exit LaSalsa, this is one of the best spots to bring your hungry self and all your friends.

Friendly staff. Huge selection of savory or sweet pies. The pumpkin cheesecake is phenomenal. One pie can easily serve 4 and at $ 6 is a great deal. Will pick up a variety for Christmas eve and day festivities.

Do you like pies? Well I do. so this little tucson «secret» gem. located in the back of beyond bread, is my go to when I’m too lazy to make one of my own (which is most of the time)

Tucked behind Beyond Bread in East Tucson, this little shop is hard to miss. Don’t be deterred by its size though, they have yummy little pies of goodness in there. My favorite is the peach pie, which is made with fresh peaches and probably crack (yes, it’s that good!). Most of the pies are around $ 6, a reasonable price to pay for such deliciousness. Also if you buy 10 pies and bring back the tins, you get a free pie. Who doesn’t like free pie?! There is also a small selection of bread you can buy. The staff is very nice and there is plenty of parking. Be sure to check out this place if you find yourself in the neighborhood. Your stomach will thank you!

Awesome pie! People so need to find this place perfect pies for two or more. We love coming here and the only down side is they his chocolate in the peanut butter pie and my husband can’t eat it but I loved it.

Pie pie pie me oh my I love pie! Especially little pie, so I can have more than one kind. Quiche so Devine even when I reheated it in the microwave. This time I bought sour cream apple & coconut cream, have gotten to a fruit pie yet but I am excited!

We literally stumbled across this place by accident after having lunch at Beyond Bread at their east side location. Despite its small size, the shop carries a wide variety of 5″ pies. The smaller size makes them perfect for grabbing a couple to take home and sample (with reasonably sized slices) without feeling too gluttonous or having to commit to an entire pie. They are also reasonably priced — most of them ran around $ 5-​$ 6. Our two pies set us back about $ 11.50. They all looked looked lovely, but we chose to try the key lime and the lemon meringue. The key lime was good, though the graham cracker crust could have been packed down firmer (the slices did not hold together at all). But the lemon meringue was excellent, the lemon filling being a creamy combination of sweet and tart, and a nice fluffy meringue on top.
We kept our tins (you get a free pie if you bring in 10 of them) and will definitely be back to try them out again, and maybe give their turkey pot pies a chance as well.

Beyond Bread in the Monterey Village at Wilmont and Speedway just opened take-​out only store just behind the Beyond Bread store.
They have a collection of different «pies» for purchase. These pies are just over 5 ½″. They have an assortment of cream and fruit pies. In addition they have a couple of pot pies (chicken and turkey).
My dad was in rehab recently so my mom and I picked up a couple of desert pies and a pot pie. Dad loved the coconut cream pie, we shared it. I put the chicken pot pie in the refrigerator and heated it up the next night in the oven. It was very good. The crust was still flaky and rich. It had plenty of crust on the top, sides, and base. The «guts» were amazing too. I will definitely be heading back for more of that tasty treat.
My favorite pie is strawberry pie. Of course it is only available seasonally. Luckily it was the season. The berries were large and firm. The strawberry glaze was sweet but not too sweet.
The cashier also told me about a discount policy. If you bring back 10 of the pie tins, you get a discount/​free pie (not sure which). Regardless, I am sure that I will easily fulfill that quota.
The only negative is the hours, they are only open 8 – 4 daily. So if you want something for dinner you going to have to plan ahead and pick your choices up early. A small price to pay for such amazing pies. It has been a week or so, but I think the pies were in the 6 – 8 dollar range. Not too bad. I ate on the Strawberry pie for 3 – 4 nights.
