I have loved Tania’s since 1992 and it’s just as wonderful today as it was more than 20 years ago. My favorite is the barbacoa tacos. Their shredded chicken chimi is delicious too!

They have so many vegan choices it might make your head spin but they will do a great job of helping you to choose!!! The food is great. I ordered the XL vegan machaca breakfast burrito enchilada style! It could probably feed 3 people! My wife ordered the soy chorizo. Both where awesome!

The food at Tania’s is consistently delicious-vegan options included. Were the staff able to take/deliver(takeout) orders correctly, my rating would be 5 stars. With the exception of my first visit there, my food has not been what I ordered, and unfortunately I didn’t realize it until I was home. The first time I had a missing item, and an item that I hadn’t ordered was substituted for what I had. This most recent time, 2 of my items were changed into another item(carne asada tots became carne asada burritos with tots inside… tasty, but plain and not what I ordered). Don’t make my mistake; check your orders before you leave. Seating is hard to come by during busy times; they could do with some rearranging to accommodate for more eat-in customers. Service has also been very slow during each visit. Ill be back, again… but I’ll be checking my order closely.

Decent food, overpriced with the slowest service in Tucson. I want to like Tania’s, I really do. I grew up nearby and have been here countless times. This place has decent, but in no way exceptional, Mexican food. The prices they charge are incredibly expensive given the quality of the food and the location. The most frustrating part is the SLOWSLOW service. They have a single lady working the counter and she works at about 50 percent post office speed. You’re standing in line, and every order she takes is agonizingly drawn out and slow — never fails. Then, the kitchen operates at a snail’s pace. Drop in for a quart of Pozole to go? 30 minutes to take the order and ladle some soup in a container. Think you are smart and you order ahead to pickup? You’ll wait 45 minutes once you arrive! Never fails, tell me if I’m wrong. I want to like Tania’s, but I’m done.

A Tucson tradition, I love this place for Pazole. It had been a while since I had been to Tucson, and Tanias. The food is still amazing, the Pazole is the best around. My wife had the machaca and eggs and they were amazing, likely a half-pound of meat in the order. My only issue was the time it took to get my order. It was a quiet Sunday morning and it took easily twenty minutes for our food to come out. If you aren’t in a hurry, make Tanias your hangover connection.

Agreed with a few other posts I’ve seen. Food is DELICIOUS. Vegetarian Mexican paradise. BUT sometimes my order, actually more often than not, is not exactly how I ordered it. Still delicious enough to keep coming back. But a little frustrating. Great vegan options? Fast to go.

This place is a must stop for me every time I visit Tucson. Build your own breakfast burrito… pure deliciousness!!! The owner is very friendly and the food is always fresh and gooood! I like to order the fresh green chillies on my breakfast burrito. Great stuff!!!

Took my son for breakfast burritos, my chorizo and egg tasted like cheap meat and was super greasy, gave me heartburn and upset my stomach. The horchata tasted like perfume, not home made at all. The burrito for my son was egg and bacon, how could you go wrong? He is 3 years old, he hands me a big piece of raw bacon fat, I open the burrito and there was are so many. I bought a bottle of orange juice and he didn’t like it, I had a taste and it tasted like an old rag smells. I threw my burrito, horchata and orange juice and gave the dog my son’s burrito. Never going here again.

The food is here is delicious but every time I call in for a burrito without eggs, it always has egg. This has happened four times in a row now. If this continues, this most certainly could get a vegetarian, vegan, or anyone with diet restrictions very sick. Sometimes my burrito won’t have the additions I ordered. Its unfair to pay for more and not get what I asked for. I would like to continue to support this local business but it’s not really coming through for me.

It’s difficult to give a five-star rating for a breakfast burrito, but this place comes close. The best breakfast burrito on the planet! Service is consistently friendly as well.

Wow! What used to be a DECENT only place has become arrogant rudeness from«MR. Tania» himself. I won’t he back! «What’s the problem?» When merely asked about what happened to the parking lot next door. What a rude man!

Of all the Mexican food places in town, this place is so very thoughtful to care about vegatarian options, online ordering, multiple tortilla sizes, and the most friendly customer service. I feel so ashamed for not discovering this place sooner. I’ve been here a few times so far and I’m just blown away by their albondigas and breakfast burritos. The red salsas that come with the burritos are pretty good too. They aren’t watery or too hot like most other places. They sell so many different soups, so many different lunch and breakfast plates. There isn’t a TON of room to sit but if you’re bringing a friend or two to grab a bite there’s usually seating for that. But I just take my food to go. Definitely a local business that I’ll be supporting as long as I live in Tucson.

This review is on their Pozole. It was delicious! Perfect, just like the Pozole I get in LA. I only wish they ran the back house a little better. I waited for 30 minutes for something I’m certain was already premade. You could see the staff were a little overwhelmed by how busy it was. Other than that it was very delicious and i will be going back, but will be sure to order ahead next time

We went there today for the first time. When we went in they asked what we would like, I said«it’s our first time» and Rudy the owner suddenly raised his voice really loud so everyone in the restaurant can hear and started explaining everything on the menu and how combos and burrito orders work. He went on for about 10 minutes(no joke), it didn’t bother me, he was just being helpful. My partner got a carne asada burrito and I got red chile chimichanga. We both enjoyed our meals but weren’t blown away. I ordered a green chile beef burrito to go, it was flavorful but a bit salty. I don’t think we’ll be back to eat there but I will order to go on my way home from work. I forgot to mention while we were there they had messed up on six orders. They even added tater tot’s to my order and I didn’t even order any(bonus for me).

Tanias 33, located in a gritty lot in Tucson’s famed Barrio Hollywood, has all the allure of a local, well-oiled(but not greasy) and heavily vetted establishment. Don’t be discouraged or put off by its appearance. The place has, like, zero curb appeal. Tanias is like that popular aunt you never get to see until it’s time for family holiday cookouts. And when she arrives, she comes with the best homemade tamales and flan. Seriously, once you skitter past the trash-littered parking lot and move inside, you feel transposed. I’d heard great things about Tanias. I’ve also read a great deal about this spot, known and revered for its massive burritos, soup selection and combination plates. This shotgun-style restaurant has five tables. Yes, only five tables. The largest one could easily seat 10 adults. There’s no waiter service — they call your name and leave your eats on the counter. At the end of your meal, just leave your plates on the table, or put the tray on the far end of the counter, completely opposite the cash register. Now to the food. The menu is quite extensive and very inexpensive. For less than 10 bucks, you have a choice of custom combination plates, which come with rice, beans, chips and a drink. You have the choice of two items: flautas, enchiladas, tacos, tostadas or a tamale. Huge portions! You can also go for a breakfast plate. They serve chorizo, chilaquiles, machaca and huevos rancheros. For your burritos, you have the option of red or green chile beef, chicken, carne asada, birria, barbacoa, nopales — so many other options. Want to add beans and rice to the side — that will be $ 1. Same for adding chips. They have about one dozen soups, or caldos, including albondindigas, cazuela, chicken and rice, menudo, pozole and also vegetarian options. Comes with lime, cilantro, onion and salsa. I saw an older gentleman come in, order a cup of soup and eat it solo. He looked pleased as peaches, and was gone in less than 10 minutes. Later, I saw a fella sitting in his construction van out front, eating a burrito and listening to Christian talk radio. Other items on the menu include cheese crisps and taco salads. Plus, they have numerous options for vegetarians. Also, they sell aguas frescas at $ 3 each — horchata, coco, Jamaica, limonada, melon, tamarido, mango and others. I went with the carne asada burrito with a side of rice, beans and chips. Goodness me! What a heaping serving. Carne asada was delicious — nicely prepared with a nice char, but still soft. Huge chunks, too. With the burritos, they come with just the meat, then you choose three free add-ons. Mine included guacamole. Score! I cannot stand guacamole that doesn’t state like avocados. Tanias serves it guacamole a bit on the chunky size — will large scoops of avocado flesh. They also sell lollipos, masa and tamales to go, chips in bags and a number of other items for you home cooks. Also, there is a single, unisex(thank you!) restroom is available for customers. Granted, it could use some toilet tissue, not just paper towels. But, anyway, cool little spot. I am glad I finally had a chance to check it out.

Man, has this place gone downhill. They forgot 2⁄3 my ingredients. Unlike another place I’ll re-review in a sec, they didn’t give me any grief when I called and complained about my pencil-thin«carne asada with cheese, cabbage, tomatillo salsa inside, and beans» burrito. I got: a teeny bit of meat and some unmelted shredded cheese, wrapped in a signature giant tortilla. Dry. Cold. They offered to remake it. Too bad I was already at work. They said they wrote down my name and they’d remember. But this is the second time I’ve had a bad experience at Tania’s. The other one was the first time I ate inside, when they messed up my order and served it cold. I sent it back, and it took like 15 minutes to remake it. Since I haven’t seen Rudy there in a while, I assume it’s a supervisory issue? Don’t know. But Tania’s is an institution and I’m sad. I don’t know if I want to go back for whatever I did to get revenge served cold. Note the previous five-star ROTD review? Revoked.

This place looks super cool. They have it organized and decorated like it is a franchise. Very simple interior. Nice menu. We ordered several items and I was not impressed. I did buy something I really liked just before we left. They have some very tasty desert tortilla chips — yummmm. I prefer Taco Giro just down the street. Give it a try …

Tanias 33 has saved the day so many times in regards to placing last minute, emergency(stuff really hit the fan), situations. I’ve called in an order at noon, that I needed ready for 5pm, that same day & viola delicious vegan food served hot & ready. One time I had a small local caterer cancel 100 person order the week of, due to family emergencies, and again Tanias saved the day. It wasn’t the same day that time, but still most places were telling me they needed at least 2 weeks for an order of that size. They are truly the last minute, emergency, catering masters! The food is delicious, home made, and healthy. You have a lot of vegan and vegetarian options. Their meats are also very good. This is a great place to get authentic Mexican soups, tamales, tortillas, and on point vegan/vegetarian dishes.

This is by far the greatest hole in the wall Mexican place in town! Sorry betos and Nicos nothing can touch this place! This place has a very comprehensive menu and has extensive vegan and veg selections as well! The jimica tea and all other Mexican drinks are so fresh and made on site. The soups are so good, save your self the cravings and just get the gallon size and take it home… Your going to want it! You can choose your size of burrito, tho the saddest part of this place is everything is so good you want to eat it all but it’s so filling you can’t!

After reading about this restaurant on a Tucson Vegan Facebook page, I was very excited to try it as I had never heard of it before and it is located close to our office. I walked in and was a bit overwhelmed at all the choices on the menu but the owner was so patient and he explained every single vegan item to me. He was so enthusiastic about his restaurant and the vegan choices they had. My husband and I ordered a couple vegan burritos and the cauliflower tacos and all were so yummy! Best cauliflower tacos we have ever had!!! They have several vegan options and we are excited to go back and try various combinations. The lemonade was the best I had ever tasted and they make all their own Mexican drinks. My only regret? Not knowing about this place sooner!

Tanias 33 is one of those places that if you blink, you miss it. But honestly, you would be missing on some of the best Mexican Food you’ll ever try! Their menu is so complete, and with so many choices that I doubt that anyone will say that they could not find anything to their liking! Their Red Menudo is DE-LI-CIOUS! Their carne asada burritos are so yummy! And if you need to feed a family of… let’s say… 20 or so people, just order their XL burrito and you should have enough and even some left overs! They are HUGE! This place is family owned and operated, and so you know that the quality is consistent. Do yourself a favor and stop by, you will no regret it!

The owners are passionate about their food and really try to make their customers happy. The salsa that went with my chili verde burrito was excellent. The burrito was delicious and customized to my preferences. Prices are a bargain for what you get. Place looks creepy from the outside but very comfortable inside. Good luck parking.

So be prepared to wait. Especially on the weekends. Today, I called in an order, and they completely lost it. Oh well mistakes happen. Breakfast burritos are delicious and their salsa is good too. I would give them 5 stars but it always takes longer than they say it will. My vegetarian friends love the veggie burritos. I also tried the grilled cheese with bacon and avocado. … understandably a little greasy but delicious..
