Surprised with this stop since I’m a business traveler, I make it a point to find new places in Tucson and try their food and most importantly, beer. Good variety of food and great tasting. Extremely friendly staff were on top of all my needs and it didn’t feel like I was being hounded. I think the next time I’m in town, I’ll give this place a rare second and third visit.

Bad service. I asked about the Micro-Brews on tap and was told to read the selections off the wall. No sales attempt or education of specialty beers offered. I paid, and tipped an undeserving bar tender, and was not even thanked. I will not return here again and will be more than willing to share my bad experience with all others if the opportunity were to arise.

Manager was condescending while explaining to us the kitchen closes early and Unilocal is always wrong. «What day is it sir? We close the kitchen an hour before the bar every night.» Eat at your own risk of being talked down to.

Food was ok at best — brewery beer was good. Service was terrible — had to ask for everything.

We are new to the area and we were excited to give this brewery a try. In short, we were disappointed. We love beer. My wife had their only stout and I had the amber. Both were middle-of-the-road in taste to us. Normally when we get good beer we have a second one. Neither of us did. The food was ok at best; bland and dry would be more accurate. My wife had the Baja chicken sandwich which she said was bland and rather boring. Her fries were standard, but at least it was all hot. My bbq pork sandwich was dry and tasteless. Luckily they give you enough sauce to get it down. I used it all, which by the way came in a bigger container than my side of beans. It is hard to judge them because I only got about 2 tablespoons. That’s not a side! The restaurant seemed clean and the staff were polite and professional. We may or may not go back. There are plenty of other restaurants.

Ordered the fish and chips. Highly dissapointed. Super thin filets of fish that were chewy and dried out. Unfortunate because they are breaded with panko which makes for a nice crispy outside. The biggest problem was the bug I noticed in the malt vinegar(after I finished). Brought this to the managers attention and he offered to remake food but no real concern regarding the bug. Since I had already eaten the meal there was no use in making it again. I told the waitress about the bug and she said«oh yeah» we check them occasionally for bugs since the top is open. I really expected either a voucher for the meal or at least take it off the bill as there was six of us eating on this ticket. This was my first time at TCB and will be my last.

my family and I dropped by here this past weekend. We always venture to other places and never even bother to go into thunder canyon but we decided to try it out since we saw they have a lunch special. I decided to get a Italian grinder(hot) with a tomato mushroom soup, overall the meal was decent. I was kind of jealous I should’ve ordered a meal with fries since they looked and were nice and crispy on my daughters plate. what sold me on thunder canyon was there doble diablo beer, it was $ 2.00 extra with my lunch special which came out to $ 9.00 total. what a great deal. We loved the beer we decided to take home a growler. The food is barfare, nothing fancy to it, but the beer sold me on this place and I plan to go back.

So i am a long time patron of the Canyon as we call it in my house. Funny ive never wrote a review. Been coming here for 7 years and have had great times. Im a mug club memeber which if you drink beer often it is a bargain to join. Food is always solid and I usually have staff order for my friend and I. Great bartenders. See Lawson and Dwayne. Those guys are extra accomidating. If you sign up with your email you will get updates on special deals. Sometimes it will be menu updates and specials or even beer nights for 1cent pints. Also the hindsight is the management staff are all 3 great. They remember there customers and always give a welcome feel

Stopped by for lunch after shopping. Sat outside because the inside was a little too smokey smelling for me personally. The staff were very nice but not very quick. Our drink refills never happened and our food took a long time to come out. The dishes we ordered were delicious. Everyone loved the french fries and also the three different BBQ sauces we got to taste. They do make good BBQ so that’s what I would recommend here.

Meh. Food is average, and a bit over priced. The hBLAT sandwich is NOT worth 11 dollars, and substituting a side salad on top for fries is 1.99. The beers are decent, and our server was very nice. Not a place we would consider going again.

I used to be a fan of TCB, they were nothing but net — except the last two bricks that they threw to us… I had the chicken tenders which had several pieces that had nerve in them(big yuk) and this was on a plate that was discounted to a price that still wouldn’t be worth the five bucks… disappointing. The service has slipped — actually slipped and hit it’s head. I’m sure it’s hard to find quality lifers but the youth and inattentiveness, the forgetfulness, the«unsure of what we offer», it’s just too much bad going on… especially in a competitive town with lots of great places. I still must say, the sausage plates are really dandy and priced well. I’ll give them another try and update this sometime again, hopefully in a positive direction.

This place has gone down hill fast. Back in the day this place would have commanded a 4 if not 5 star. But soooo much has gone wrong. The only reason this place has a 2 star because the beer is always decent to good. But the food has become piss poor. The burgers and fish and chips used to be my go to’s. Now the burgers crap and so is the fish and chips last 2 – 3 times I ordered them. I have come with friends but I’ll just drink the beer but I won’t have any of the now terrible food. It’s gotten to the point is almost rather eat at a fast food burger joint then there. Please fix your food. It used to be pretty good not amazing but eating and having drinks was always nice. Now just the drinks. Fix the food!

A great spot to grab a beer – my friend suggested it and they were totally cool with us taking up a booth for 1 beer each. :) Can’t say anything about the food since we didn’t have any, but the beer, two thumbs up.

At first I wasn’t sure which Thunder Canyon Brewery I went to 2 years ago. Once I arrived at the Foothills Mall, I realized it must have been the one on Broadway. I’m only giving this 3 stars based on the nice server as well as the beer. If you come to this location, make it a beer stop. The food left a lot to be desired. I came here with my wife, kids and mom who’s from Tucson. Table for 5 on a Monday night shouldn’t be too bad, right? They sat us right next to the door leading to the outside bar. Keep in mind that during December, the outside temp is around 35 °F. That door must have opened a dozen times leaving a blast of cold air on us all. Enough regarding the ambiance, I started off with a 22 oz Doppelback which was very good. The others tried the flights of beer. I thought I’d remembered having a special nachos platter at the Broadway location which used tater tots instead of tortilla chips and also had pulled pork on top. They did make us the tater tot nachos, but didn’t include the pulled pork. It was OK, but not as good as the Broadway location. For dinner, I had the 2 Napkin Pork Shoulder Sandwich with the garlic potatoes. The potatoes were the best part. The sandwich was awful. Very dry on a stale roll with ultra shredded pork. I think I’m still digesting it. My son had the Monsoon Sandwich which was also based on pulled pork and looked to be a bit better. My mother had the featured 16 oz steak which she said was very tough so we took home for the dog. My advice is to come here for the happy hour specials and beer. Go to the one on Broadway for better food.

This is a three and a half star rating. I had my usual date, my hubby :) Went in on a Tuesday night. We needed a place close to Amc theaters and decided TCB was the place to try. We were greeted promptly and our waitress was friendly and attentive. It was happy hour(3pm-7pm) so they had $ 1 off house wine and select beers. I had the house Chardonnay and my husband had a beer, some kind of wheat(he can’t remember what it was). My Chardonnay was good to my surprise. My husband liked the selection of beer they offered. To eat, I had the Southwestern salad which was just so so. The cilantro dressing lacked flavor and the salad toppings were slim. My husband had the chicken Parmesan which he said was good but nothing real special. Would we go back? Yes we would. We would try something else to eat(there were plenty of vegetarian options for me and plenty of meat options for my husband).

After seeing a movie at the AMC Theatre inside the Foothills Mall, we thought that we would come and give Thunder Canyon a try. After all, since it is a «brewery,» my fiancé was immediately interested in trying out some beer here. We entered and a hostess directed us to a seat — after finishing her conversation with another hostess(possibly in training?). It just seems like they could have finished their conversation, then directed us. But to ask us seating preference, then finish a conversation, then take us over to sit down at a booth seemed a bit odd. That aside, we were seated and a waitress came to take drink orders rather quickly. She was bubbly, nice, and knew about the beer because my fiancé asked her a few questions about different IPAs. That being said, if you can sample beer here, we weren’t told about it(although word of mouth tells me you should be able to). The table ordered 2 beers to start and a lemonade. Beers were okay. Not entirely sure if they were actually brewed here in Tucson or if they were just beers on tap. Leaning on these came from somewhere else –which is disappointing if you’re advertising yourself as a local brewery(where’s your brew??). The food is lackluster. We ordered the pretzel appetizers. They come with plenty of mustard sauce but hardly any cheese sauce. The pretzels themselves have clearly been heated up after being frozen and are not made in house. For the price they charged for them, we could easily have picked up our own frozen pretzels from the grocery store. They weren’t «bad» but they were just kind of average. My fiancé ordered the«Steak of the Day» and seemed happy with it. The mashed potatoes were good, I’m told. The steak seemed a bit expensive($ 22) but he was happy with it. To me, it just looked like a big steak. I ordered a Southwest Chicken Salad. It said that is came with their«Cantina Fingers» which are some breaded chicken strips. Again, pretty sure these were frozen and then the cooks here cook them up. They weren’t great alone. But they also came coated in some sort of buffalo flavored sauce that had not been advertised in the menu. I thought it would just be regular chicken and was a bit disappointed to find that they had a tangy flavor I was not a huge fan of. Lettuce in the salad was nothing fancy. I will say, the yogurt cilantro-lime dressing was the best part! For a salad, this was pretty expensive to be so lackluster(I could have gone to Sweet Tomatoes or Core and been happier). Our third member purchased the chicken parmesan. It was made with the same chicken fingers that were on my salad, just in tomato sauce on noodles instead. Again, just«ok» food that the average home cook could prepare themselves. The beer may be worth a trip again, but I highly doubt that we will come back for food. Service was good. Beer was decent. Food not worth the trip.

Ryan our waiter was fantastic! Pizza crust was soggy. Fish and chips are a joke! Thin ¼″ thick, dry and way over cooked. Cob salad was good but three dollars overpriced As was the rest of our orders, way to pricey for poor quality food. Monsoon sandwich was very good but had tough meet. Wouldn’t return.

Super disappointed! I have eaten here a few times with friends and family before and it was nothing to special, but this last time will be it! The food is very sub par. Cheap bar food at a not cheap price. The selection is large and the pizza isn’t terrible, the food just has no flavor and is not at all worth the price. The service there is terrible! We waited over 20 minutes for a drink refill and after we finally flagged our waiter down to ask we waited another 10 to get the actuall drink itself. I asked for a box after we payed and after about 12 minutes of not reciving a box I left, not to upset, because my pasta was over cooked anyway and probably would have sat in my fridge for a week anyway. Normally I won’t swear off a restaurant but considering that this place consistently disappoints i am done!

We had a little trouble finding the restaurant, but after some loops through the parking lot we found it attached to Foothills mall. Our server was fabulous – friendly and fast and very genuine. My husband sampled beers, while I had a premium margarita, which was $ 4 as part of their wacky weekend special. Now THIS was a darn good margarita… so much better than the one served at Barrio the day before. We requested a small order of tortilla chips, no dips, for our autistic son. He enjoyed them a great deal. I didn’t want a huge meal since I was already eyeing the desserts to celebrate the day. I ordered the half Acapulco wrap and side salad. The wrap was excellent. Perfect blend of flavors. The salad was fresh and quite good, especially for an iceberg lettuce salad. My husband had a chicken pot pie with Caesar salad. He was very happy. He’s pretty picky about his pot pies and this one had a nice, buttery pastry top and the inside was packed with big chunks of chicken breast. They didn’t just throw in leftover dark meat, that was for sure! For dessert, we succumbed to the deep dish cookie. They served it in a battered tin cake pan set atop a ceramic platter. This ended up being awkward because whenever you dug in with the spoon, it shoved the hot tin the other direction. The dishes did not nest in a safe way at all. We used teamwork to keep the tin in place. The cookie looks huge but is really very thin, so it was not as intimidating as it first appears. It worked out well to be split between two people. The cookie dough was perfectly warm and gooey and went well with the vanilla ice cream and dollops of whipped cream. If we lived in the Foothills area, we could easily become regulars of this place. Whenever we return to Tucson, we’ll be sure to keep Thunder Canyon in mind. It’d be nice to visit their downtown location, too.

This is by far not my favorite place. The beer here is outstanding but that is where it stops for me. I have been here 4 times and the service is either really good or really bad depending on who the server was. The food is not good. My wife ordered a Baileys and coffee and was told she could not get that. What was eventually served after some discussion was a cup of coffee and a shot of Baileys. Our server assured her the bar could not pour that shot in the cup of coffee and she would have to do it herself. We were not checked on and our drinks went dry. When the check came I waited 10 minutes and she never picked it up with my card. Rather than use my card I dug into my pocket and was able to come up with the exact amount. I left the money on the table and walked out. We were here during happy hour and ordered appetizers. One was completely inedible due to being dried out and overcooked. I would give this place only 1 star but the beer is so good I give it 2(even though I was only able to get one this visit due to poor service).
