One of my favorites! The food is good regardless of whether it’s vegetarian, not having to eat meat to get a tasty meal is a bonus though!

I’m a pretty crappy vegetarian… not because I cheat with meat, but because I really don’t like vegetables all that much. A dissatisfied spouse of sorts who’s not going anywhere. I’m really more of a carbivore. Anyway…I’m working next door to Veg in a Box this week, and decided to check it out. The owner(Erik?) recommended the beet burger. Sounds hideous, right?!! Wrong! The beet burger had a thick beet patty(duh), caramelized peppers and onions, tomatoes and«house sauce». I wish I could be more specific… there was lots going on there. Gluten-free bread is usually dreadful(no offense to those who enjoy it), but I totally forgot that the bun was gluten-free until well after the fact. I concur with other reviewers who said the fries were a little salty… that’s really the only negative thing I can say. I recommend Veg In a Box to carnivores and herbivores alike, not just the meatless and wheatless. It’s really for anyone with an adventurous palate. Or anyone ambling uncertainly down Pennington St.

I got delivery from here tonight and was not disappointed. They estimated a delivery time of 45−60minutes and it came within 30minutes. I got a mushroom burger with the potato mixture. The mushroom burger was really really good, I don’t know what the house sauce was but it made the sandwich. The grilled veggies in the potato mixture were perfectly cooked and seasoned well. The gluten free bun was just a little dry.

First time there and probably won’t go back. We ordered 4 different entrees(mushroom burger, squash fettuccine, ZLT and grilled cheese sandwich). All were very salty. Sweet chili fries were salty too. Squash soup was even worse. Very disappointed. We were the first group of customers there. Yet the restaurant was already very smoky when we went in. The air circulation and ventilation was pretty bad. We only sit there for 20 minutes and our hair and clothes all had stinky restaurant smell.

First time here! Yuuuummmm! Had all the specials: Tortilla soup, chips and guac, and Asian peanut stir fry. Very very good! The stir fry was excellent! The soup and the guac are not what you’d expect traditionally but very good nonetheless! Can’t wait to come back! Hurray! Go Veg in the Box!!!

Just came back from eating dinner for the first time at this great gem of a restaurant. My husband and I both had the beet burger after reading the great reviews on Unilocal.I had the sweet chili fries and my hubby had the potato medially as our sides. We were both very impressed by the fresh ingredients and the wonderful flavors. My fries were delicious and additive just like they warn you about. The glutton free bun was fresh and very flavorful, probably the best I have ever had. My husband had the Starburst smoothie which was refreshing. I enjoyed the cucumber and lemon infused water that they had on their«service cart». The food came out fresh, fast and hot. EVERYONE was super friendly. The owner came by as soon as he was done taking orders to make sure that we were happy with our meals. I personally really appreciate when an owner actually cares if their customers enjoyed their experience. I can’t wait to go back and try the Italian meat ball sub. Meatballs made out of egg plant sounds sooooo good! I highly recommend this restaurant, the food is good and good for you :)

I’m so happy to have a healthy, plant based restaurant in Tucson that doesn’t have a menu filled with fake meat options. All of Veg in a Box’s dishes are truly plant based, and they execute them wonderfully. Although the restaurant is more of a hole in the wall, it is cozy and comforting. Filled with small tables, booths, and a mouth-watering dessert case, it’s a place you could hang out in for a few hours so long as you have good company or a book. There’s something to be said about a restaurant that serves excellent food without the trendy atmosphere. Veg in a Box is clearly focused on showing people how tasty plant-based food is, and I love that. While dining there, I had the Beet Burger with Sweet Chili Fries as my side and my partner had the«Ham»(dehydrated zucchini) and Cheese with beans as his side. The actual beet-based veggie patty was very flavorful but slightly dry. However, the toppings on the burger took it over the top. It was piled high with caramelized onions, peppers, tomatoes, lettuce, and the«house sauce.» I’m not exactly sure what the house sauce is, but I want it on everything, always. The gluten free bun that the burger came on was not only the best GF bread I’ve ever had, but one of the best burger buns I’ve ever had. And those sweet chili fries? So incredible. Seasoned and crisped to perfection. My partner(who loves veggies but is not a vegetarian) loved his ham and cheese sandwich, as well as the beans he ordered with it. We also got a cup of the Exo Roast cold brew coffee(only $ 2.50!), which was smooth, chocolate-y, and delicious! I will definitely be back to try more menu items and their dessert options!

«It’s everything the state of Arizona isn’t.» Once upon a time, a very long time ago, when I first became vegan, I ate grass and bark. I would lick rocks for minerals. Things were tough. I would wonder if my convictions made it any of this worth it. Soon though vegetables were invented along with sliced bread and tofu and I rejoiced in my decision of clean and ethical eating. I work for an airline and I travel all the time all over the U.S. and world sometimes. I eat out often. With all of the current trends in plant based foods it’s fun to travel and try new places. The name caught my eye and I decided to come in. Veg In The Box is truly from the future. Price. Quantity. Quality. Ease of ordering. Creative. Healthy. Has an incredibly friendly staff. It’s everything the state of Arizona isn’t. Any one who has a mouth should run — not walk — in here and order one of everything. You can’t go wrong.

Yum yum yum! This place is both vegan and gluten free! They serve good sized portions of super flavorful and grubbing munchie foods. We had the sub and the mushroom burger. The hoagie and bun were so delicious I couldn’t believe they were gf. They were light and spongy like real gluten bread. The mushroom burger tasted like a classic cheese burger. Only tip from me, because I am super health conscious on all food levels, is a little less salty please.

I’m one of those vegetarians that likes to have a fake meat or tofu option if I’m going to eat at a restaurant. Most stuff that is plant based I can make myself and is inexpensive, so it often seems like a waste of money to go out to dinner unless there’s a big meat-substitute draw. Because of this, I was hesitant to try this place since they stick primarily to veggies. I was pleasantly surprised. No fake meat needed at all! I ordered delivery via Unilocal/Eat24. They deliver on bikes so that was pretty cool and the food arrived within the estimated time frame. The delivery guy was really friendly. I had the Ham & Cheese with fries and a Green Goddess Juice. All were very tasty. The zucchini ham was more flavorful than expected and the fries were excellent… Or more specifically the fries with the sweet chili sauce were excellent. That sauce is good! The juice was clearly freshly juiced and they made an effort to ensure it didn’t spill on the way over(and it didn’t). It tasted great(for green juice that is). The only thing that holds me back from five stars is that the fries were getting cold and the sandwich was a little soggy. That’s not really their fault. It’s a cold day out and I ordered delivery and they deliver via bicycle. I’m sure if I ordered in the store, it would have been perfect. I’ll definitely go back and try the ZLT, pomodoro and a dessert — at the very least. In fact, I might just make this my new Friday routine.

Yay! Veg in a Box! This place brings joy to my body, a smile to my face, and warmth to my heart. Veg in a Box is a cute and spacious spot that offers a fun and creative menu. It’s very open and has a very appropriate green theme. I appreciate that everything is plant-based and GMO-free, soy-free, and gluten-free. It was hard to decide what to get because everything looks so delicious! I ended up ordering the ZLT(zucchini, lettuce, tomato) with avocado and the super green salad as my side. In my many vegan adventures, I have never tried zucchini bacon. It was so deliciously seasoned that it inspired me. The sandwich itself was amazing — it was loaded with veggies and had a delicious sauce. The gluten free sourdough was also great! The side salad was full and flavorful with a yummy vegan ranch dressing. It was just the right amount of food packed with nutrition and love, just what my mind, body, and spirit need. I also got a bunch of pumpkin cookies to take to a dinner party. Unsurprisingly, they’re delicious as well! The attention to detail here is awesome, like the mint water. Such a nice touch. As far as value, it’s great! Most things are under $ 10, which in my opinion is very affordable, especially for the amount and kind of food and experience that you get. It’s cheaper than a lot of vegan places I usually go to in LA. Lastly, the people who work at Veg in a Box are super friendly and helpful. They clearly believe in what they do and are passionate about making people happy with their wholesome and delicious food. Overall, I’m super stoked about this place, and I left feeling a lot of joy. I wish there was one near me in Los Angeles! I will be sure to tell others about it, and I will definitely be back next time I’m in town! Thanks Veg in a Box!

I don’t ever leave reviews but the ZLT sandwhich with avocado has to be one of the best I’ve ever had. If I was from here I would go back in a heartbeat.

I’m thrilled to see more vegan/vegetarian restaurants popping up in the city and I am especially grateful to have them downtown. I am not vegan/vegetarian– in fact, I think I’ve eaten beef at least three times on the last ten days, but I follow the places that treat food and ingredients with love and respect. The menu here is totally creative, fresh and nourishing. This is a must try for sure, whether you’re vegan or not, there is truly something for everyone here. The food is packed with flavor and most impressive is that they make things from scratch! No tofu bacon on this menu… thankfully! One must really eat here to appreciate what Veg In A box is doing. One of the owners, Matthew, greeted us as soon as we walked in the door. He offered us a sample of their cauliflower/beet ceviche, which packs a punch! It was so good. He also gave us some solid suggestions. We ordered the Ceviche to share, the mushroom burger, the Beet Burger and the ZLT and we capped things off with a green tea cupcake with avocado frosting… we basically licked our plates clean. You get your choice of side for the burgers. I went with the side green salad since the tow others ordered fries. Those FRIES! Those sweet chili fries… so crisp, so sweet and so tangy all at the same time. I think they’re officially on my top 5 favorite fries in the city. Veg In A Box is an inviting place and the owners are immensely dedicated and passionate about bringing fresh, non GMO, delicious eats to our fair city. I’m definitely a fan and I can’t wait to try breakfast! Count me in as a regular.

I’m a newbie when it comes to vegan eating and I decided to try this place out with some more seasoned vegan friends. The place is in a great location and has a good layout. We went in after a rainy monsoon day and they have swamp coolers. While not awful it was a little warm and I sought out a table with a fan over it! Instant relief! The staff is very friendly and asked if we had any questions on the menu. It looks like the have a regular menu and a seasonal special item. As I had done some previous research I already knew what I wanted and declined additional assistance. I ordered the Plethora(Do images of El Guapo in Three Amigos come to mind?, as a side note it’s not pronounced the same). It was a stack of grilled veggies drizzled with the most delicious balsamic glaze. If you don’t like veggies don’t worry you will love this! Very filling and tasty. I also ordered a medium basket of their sweet chile fries. A medium basket was enough for five of us. These are a must have and I’m still thinking of these tasty fries. I will definitely be back to try more of the menu. First trip was a success!

So happy to have another Vegan choice in Tucson! We have been here a few times for lunch and have enjoyed our meals. My favorite so far is the ZLT with the spicy fries. The plantains are so good too(can’t remember what they are called). The best part? They are open late on Friday and Saturday nights!

I’ve had two lunches here and enjoyed both of them thoroughly. I am neither vegan nor do I have an issue with gluten(or trying to be trendy and not eat it) but I do like to eat vegetarian and I love that this place is GMO-free. I’ve had a BeeFT burger(a beet inside a patty with delicious caramelized onion and the usual«burger» fixin’s with a house sauce. I got a heaping order of fries with it which are Sweet Chile, cooked in rice bran oil, and plentiful and yummy. The burger falls apart pretty easily as I neared the end but that’s okay! I came back the next day for a B.L.T. style sandwich with«zucchini bacon» on a toasted sourdough. I chose cole slaw and it was very unusual and I liked it, and it’s not like any cole slaw I’ve had before. Both cost $ 9.50 each which includes the side. I dig the restaurant and it is spacey with lots of windows and a no rush environment. You order and pay, and they bring the food out, otherwise it’s not table service. I’ve heard mixed reactions from friends and co-workers on the Mushroom Burger, but the bite I tried of it I really liked it.

This was my first time visiting Veg in a Box and I had never been to the truck. I was pleased! I ordered one of the raw pasta dishes with potatoes on the side. I believe it was called the Zucchini Pomodoro — there was a lot of sauce on it, but the sauce itself was surprisingly delicious. It had a creamy texture and wasn’t at all gritty, like a lot of raw sauces can be. I used the rest to dip the potatoes in, so I was happy. I also got to try the mushroom croquettes. They had a falafel vibe, but were moist and topped with a creamy green sauce. The location is large and comfortable and everyone was very friendly. Parking in the garage across the street is free if you’re there for less than an hour — so check them out!

My husband and I stopped in for dinner Saturday night before our usual trek to Borderlands. This place is awesome! We both had the beet burger with sweet Chili fries. This is something we always ordered off the truck. As usual it was super yummy. And those fries. Ohhhh those fries. I have dreams about those fries. But as we sat and ate dinner and looked over the menu board, we realized we need to explore more of the menu. I love how creative the chefs are. Everything we have ever had off the truck has been a hit, so I have faith that it’s even better now that they have a regular sized kitchen to get down with their mad vegan foodie selves. I hope that the local veg heads find their way down here. This is true plant based goodness!

Wife, granddaughter and I went to lunch at Veg in a Box’s first physical restaurant today right in the heart of downtown Tucson. What they’ve done is taken their all plant-based(vegan) food truck menu and expanded it. Now that the chef has a full kitchen to work with, they’ve been busy experimenting and trying out new plant-based things. I had the new patacones & guacamole, fried plantains with a tangy Thai sauce seasoned guacamole that was worth going back again for. I also got their«Jamaica tea» which has a unique interesting flavor that’s unlike anything I’ve tasted before. I think it’d really hit the spot on a warm evening sitting on their patio out front. My wife had the mushroom burger and sweet chile fries which were both awesome! Yes, a plant-based burger that’s awesome! Granddaughter had a small fruit bowl which had spearmint, basil and an apple cider vinegar syrup over the top that was really good. Our lunch only cost $ 34 for all three of us which is reasonable. The restaurant is clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. Food took a little while, but was definitely worth it and portion sizes were good. If more people find out about this place, it will be very popular.
