Tall’s Camera

I have been a long time buyer of camera equipment on the internet. I did this primarily to save on sales tax. Last year I decided to sell all my Canon equipment and buy a new full frame Nikon D600; a very expensive camera. I also decided to buy at Tall’s because I wanted a friendly face to help me out if I had any problems with the new technology in the D600. Buying at Tall’s was the best camera buying decision I’ve ever made. I did have a technical difficulty with my Nikon and the owner himself, Bruce Tall, helped me to resolve all my problems. Try getting that level of service from B&H out of New York.
Buy at Tall’s, get great service and pay taxes to support Washington State schools.

I’m an ammeter photographer as well as a student on a low bugget, wanting to purchase a 50 mm Lens, I wanted to try/​test out the 1.8/f and 1.4/f 50mm’s. Coming into Tall’s with my Canon EOS60D i ask to see the two lens’ in question and the rude sales person behind the counter says, no. Not wanting to make any trouble, i say, oh well could you tell me how the picture quality is? of course he says everything i can find online and is very useless to me. My complaint, on top of the rude customer service, is that they don’t let the customer experience the product in question, how is the customer supposed to know if they would like to purchase the product if they aren’t able to take a look at it? I mean yes lens’ are expensive, but at least attach it to one of the store’s camera bodies and let the customer look through the view finder, not like they’re going to smash the lens on the counter.

Went to visit Tall’s camera Tukwila today to check the Nikon D7000 as I am planning to upgrade my Canon T1i. I asked the salesman if they have the Nikon D7000 and the salesman said «yes’ and he point to the other salesman to check with him, I did ask the other salesman if i can check the Nikon D7000, this salesman ignored me until I asked him again if I can check the camera and he told me they don’t have a model camera that they can show me. I am not going to this store again.

Last night, May 21, 2009, at 8:00 PM PT, I visited the Southcenter Mall Talls Camera store. My intent was to purchase a either a Nikon D300 DSLR camera or a Nikon D700 DSLR. I chose this location since I had originally purchased my Nikon D70S, 18 – 70 Nikkor lens and SB-​800 strobe unit from this store a few years ago.
Upon my arrival, I learned the store had both cameras in stock. I asked to see one of each for comparison. The salesman behind the counter refused to show me either unit. He explained that both were in boxes and he would not open either to allow me to see them. Since the D700 is a relatively new model to me, I had wanted a side by side comparison before purchasing one of the two. His refusal made this impossible. I left.
I realize my purchase was probably «small potatoes» to this store, but it was a major purchase to me. I do not understand a business model for a camera store that leaves merchandise boxed and does not give demonstrations. They let a potential $ 2,000 or more, sale walk out the door, rather than show merchandise.
