Fun place with good food. Full of history from the time it was Jade East until today. Well History for me anyway. Love the that the food and décor has stayed more current while keeping some of the former Tiki bar feel.

While during a week stay in Tulsa I decided to try this place. There are two areas to eat, a sushi bar type area and tables around the grill. There were the four people in my party and a family with a young son also eating at our grill area. The chef was amazing! The chef was creative while cooking out food, chopping off shrimp tails and tossing them in to his hat. The good was delicious! If I do pass through Tulsa again, I sure will consider stopping in.

I fkng love this place! So much fun! Everything was delicious but the deserts! They were kinda gross! Husband and I both ordered the Shogun. $ 32.99 it was Filet Mignon Teriyaki chicken and lobster tail. Every thing tasted wonderful! My 3 sons all ordered Lobster tail and Filet Mignon. They loved it! The plum wine was very sweet and one glass lasted all through dinner. We spent roughly $ 321 for 6 dinners. $ 46 was automatic tip. Worth every dime! Love love Tokyo Garden!

Pros: As far as I know, there are only 2 hibachi places in Tulsa(3 if you count Yutaka). Of the two, this place has better soup. Plus, I like the atmosphere here. Way more casual. My brother in law likes This place better than the other place. I admit, the service here is much better. Cons: the other place has better fried rice, calamari, shrimp, steak, salad. The other place gives bigger portions.

I’m going to give it 3 stars because the service can be a bit slow. One time we were there eating dinner and our server was no where to be found, the gentleman in a suit saw us and actually came to refill our drinks. I’m pretty sure that’s not his job, but kudos to him for noticing we needed refills. Food is great, don’t get me wrong! Hibachi chefs are all awesome, I love it! Just need to work on faster service.

We are new to the are and have been trying to find a great go to sushi hibachi place that’s our perfect fit. This place was delicious! We ordered the chicken hibachi which comes with onion soup(delicious) it doesn’t have tofu or algae which I don’t like so it was perfect! and the salad had a white dressing that I’ve never had before but this dressing was a little creamy and very good! Finally for the entrée! The chicken was amazing as well as the fried rice and it also came with noodles, veggies, and two shrimp which made it so much better! You get a choice of 2 out of 3 sauces for your hibachi(garlic, ginger, and mustard) I chose garlic and ginger and they were both great sauces that made the food taste so great! Service was good. Sushi rolls were good too. We tried the tempura shrimp and another one with lobster and they were both great choices. Overall a great experience and will definitely be going back!

I have been going here since I was 13 years old. Amazing atmosphere, of course my favorite is the sushi bar, as well as relaxing. The staff is just amazing! The original owner, not sure if they sold or just retired, got used to me so much he noticed a hair cut! The food is just fully amazing! Sushi or habatchi is always mind blowing! The drinks are always amazingly mixed as well. This has been and always will be my favorite spot/hiding spot/zen place!

I would say for the price and the experience you can’t beat Tokyo Garden. We had reservations but got there about 20 minutes early and they sat us right away. The price for one a one meat dish is about $ 18 and for two meats it’s about $ 24. That comes with a salad, soup, 2 shrimp, noodles, fried rice, the two meats on the hibachi grill, and sherbet for desert. Really a great value and a great experience. The chef was fun and made the experience really memorable. It was our anniversary and they even came by and took a photo of us and the other couple we were with and gave us a print of the photo before we left. We will definitely be back!

Excellent sushi rolls. Seaweed salad was a touch over oiled, but the monkey ball and oklahoma roll made up for that! Attentive server. Will be back.

This is seriously the best Japanese food in Tulsa, I have been to so many but this is the one I like the most! Friendly service and the food is just so good!

Love the ambiance of the sushi bar. Even when the much larger hibachi section is packed, it still manages to feel like a small neighborhood sushi bar. The quality of the sushi, sushi rolls, and sashimi is excellent. They also have the only decent miso soup we’ve been able to find. Their hibachi food is great, although the entertainment aspect of it just isn’t my thing… probably because I’m a boring person. The manager is always about and will come to your table if he suspects you may not be 100% satisfied. This is our favourite place for sushi in Tulsa.

Went to Tokyo Garden yesterday for my birthday dinner. The food was mediocre, salty soup, wilted lettuce, and frozen vegetables in the fried rice, also, when did hibachi places start trying to pawn off cold spaghetti noodles? The service was pretty bad but that’s not really what pissed me off. Bad food, bad service, I can deal with that. What pissed me off was when my car was broken into in BROAD daylight outside of the restaurant. The manager let me use his phone to call the cops and my insurance company but they didn’t offer to let us look at the ONE camera that they have facing a small part of the parking lot. I was told my by the cop that this happens A LOT at this restaurant and nothing is ever recovered. Will not be returning again. Wasn’t worth losing all of my stuff out of my car. Next time I’ll go to Zanmai.

Went here to have sushi with some cousins. The place was beyond loud when we entered. Wasnt terribly shocked by that since most of the dining area is reserved for«hibachi food circus». While waiting on our company we went to the bar… sort of. The bar we were pointed to is more like a service bar. There were no seats. Also had to crouch down to see behind the hanging décor as to what selection was available. Drinks in hand we opted to wait back in the entry where it was a little more quiet. After the rest of the party arrived we were seated in the semi quiet sushi portion of the restaurant. The sushi was pretty good. The red snapper and unagi was some of the best I have had anywhere in town. The octopus was really bad, and the sweet shrimp was terrible. My wife ordered several rolls and those were fantastic. So it’s a toss up for me. Service was good once seated and the staff was friendly. I would return, but only if it was the idea of someone else.

Good food great entertainment you get extra points if you take a shot with the server. The drink service however was slow and often forgot what we order. Granted, the place was packed on Valentine’s Day. I enjoy this style of eating and it’s a great place for friends and family. I had the filet mignon with the chicken. The chicken is amazing.

My family and I just had dinner here last night. The sushi was delicious and our chef was engaging and funny! I can’t wait to return and try some more of their sushi. The only thing I didn’t care for was their miso soup and the salad. The miso soup was too salty and tasted a little different compared to what I was used to. Then the salad tasted too fatty(like a mayo taste).

Lots of memories have been made here for me. I came here with my brother and grandma on the very first night they opened back many years ago. We used to frequent Shogun and Osaka but have never been back to either of them after eating at Tokyo Garden. I also took my now wife here on our first year anniversary of going out when we were teenagers and then we had our wedding rehearsal dinner here too. Over the years I have eaten here hundreds of times and have gotten to know the owner really well. Now for the food. Over the years the food has stayed consistent and is always in generous proportion. I have tried almost everything on the menu, I would suggest anything. My main go to is the steak and chicken, although sometimes I get the Geisha which is steak, chicken, and shrimp. I like my steak medium rare which they call medium moo. Lately I have been on a fish kick so I have been getting the steak and salmon. The salmon is glazed with teriyaki sauce. To start of they serve you onion soup but for no additional charge I sub the onion soup for miso soup. If you want sushi the have a full sushi bar and or you can order sushi while at a hibachi table. I would recommend this place to everyone. The environment is clean and fun. The staff are all very friendly. They are genuine people wanting to give you a great experience and lasting memories.

Having not been to a hibachi grill in several years, my wife and I decided that it would be fun for date night, so I called to make a reservation at Shogun. They couldn’t get us a seat until after 8:15 so I called Tokyo after reading the reviews here. They took us at 7 without a problem. Our chef was a little lackluster and it’s a real shame that the health department is making them wear those silly sneeze guards, because you consequently can’t hear a word they are saying and the jokes are just lost. The food however, was delicious. I got the filet mignon and lobster and though the portion was small, especially for the price, the flavor was excellent. The waitress was a little ditzy though and forgot about my drink order twice, on separate occasions. All in all we had fun, drinks, delicious food with a show and the enjoyment of an adult night out together, which is all we wanted. I’ll call that a success, though I suppose it’s a sad state of affairs when one is excited to just have not been supremely disappointed or let down these days. I’m such a cynic…

First, I’ll echo above. Same show, same show. All the«Japanese Egg Roll» jokes were the same ones you hear at other restaurants. That gets it 3 stars just because it’s quite fun. But it’s time to critique, right? They offer you the sauces for your food… I dipped something in each just once and was done with them both. The one declared«really hot» was probably less than the other two. Deduct one star. But the wait staff, contrary to above, was amazing…99% of the time. Maybe I’m just cute, but I’d order something and it was out pretty quick. My wife, however, sat and watched me down speciality drinks while she waited on hers. Add a star, we’re back to three. The meal itself was better than the Hibachi’s we’ve been at before. They gave the chow mein noodles, cut the shrimp, it was very delicious. Add a star, we’re up to 4. As we finished, we sat and enjoyed telling old stories(this was a reunion of sorts) and then the manager came over and told us «if you want to sit, we have a wonderful lounge in the back of the restaurant.» I could understand this if you’re at capacity, but they had SEVERAL open grills in the restaurant. We weren’t even in the middle, we were tucked in a back corner. Minus 2 stars and I won’t go back. My suggestion? Go alone. Be that strange guy who sits with a family of 6 and eavesdrop because other than the food, stay away. Those specialty drinks I spoke of? Don’t think they had alcohol in them and I am sure they were supposed to.

This is a great surprise of a restaurant. It didn’t look so great from the outside but the inside was very nice. It wasn’t quite up to the look and feel of a Shoguns or Osaka… but It had character and was nice. The service was impeccable and the chef was amazing. He was funny and performed every trick to a 10. This is the first time my wife and I have taken my daughters, girls 2&4, to a Teppanyaki restaurant and they both loved it. The only negative… if it can be counted as a negative… is that the portions were a bit too big. I am a pretty big guy and it was just too much food. We will be making this a monthly visit.

Eh it’s the exact same as Shogun and Osaka… Nothing special. Same great food, same lame show.
