Let me start by saying the employees do not like working here. No smiles, no greets, no nothing. Secondly if you are looking for fast service this is not your kind or place. I saw the sushi chef’s make food and slide it on the counter. I watched the food sit for 10 minutes before the server came and picked up the food. Mind you this was on a Monday night. Now for the sushi… I hate to bash what others have said about good food. However, I travel all over and the food taste was substandard. To me this did not taste fresh or original. I see many people have given 5 stars. I think you will be sorely mislead as I do not think this restaurant rates anymore then 2 — 3 stars.

I took my wife to Fuji after seeing a «Cirque du Soliel» show at the BOK. We had reservations for Chef Nobu’s special dinner, only available to ten people on Saturday night at 6:30. I was suitably impressed. Chef Nobu has some serious knife skills. He was slicing the sashimi the dinner started with directly in front of my wife and I. The sashimi was so thin it only had one side. The fish was as fresh as any I have had in cities bordering the Atlantic or Pacific. We were started with a few courses of sashimi along with a miso soup that included crisp-tender vegetables. There was a hot custard course that I have never had before. A steaming hot custard with one leaf of Japanese cilantro and two tiny sprigs of scallion slivers. There was a oyster course with a single tiny oyster the Chef explained was raised in one bay in Japan where the soil nutrients from a nearby mountain washed down and provided the perfect growing conditions for these mini oysters. I don’t know if the story was true but the oyster was perfect. A salad course of mixed greens with sashimi and a small side of cooked new potato slices with uni and a very good sauce. Cooked courses followed, Tempura fish with a new potato half also tempura battered, a miso brined(several days) fish that was grilled to perfection. Sushi was one course. The dinner finale was a two fold dessert; cream Brule and a Bruled custard made from the same green tea used in the Japanese Tea Ceremony. I lost track of exactly how many courses we had, but I believe it was somewhere north of twelve. If you have time for a two and one half hour educational dining experience with a master Chef in his prime, I highly recommend this.

Great tempura! The Boat full of sushi was quite impressive! We had the grandkids with us also and they enjoy the food too. Fuji is a real Tulsa treasure.

The atmosphere is warm and cozy and I love sitting at the sushi bar and watching the sushi artists at work. The chef brought us a nice sushi appetizer plate to kick things off. Loved the Oishii Maki roll that I ordered. Quality ingredients with a nice crunch on top. I’ll be back!

I have really enjoyed every time I have come to Fuji. The best sushi I have had in Tulsa, friendly staff, laid back atmosphere, and a large variety of fresh fish. The drink specials are also always nice. I recommend this place for a date night or relaxing dinner any night.

I have been coming to Fuji’s for about twenty years. The owner Nobu is an amazing chef and one of the nicest guys you will meet. They have a variety of rolls that are delicious! My favorites being the disco roll, slammin salmon(If the chef Taylor is there have him make it. He designed the roll!), and the Oishi Maki. Off of the geisha lunch(2 rolls for $ 10) special I think the best ones are the Jamie, Lobster Masago, Calamari, and Big Willie. If you happen to be there when the owner is there take advantage and order some nigiri and sashimi! Try the toro, blue fin, yellowtail, and salmon. Justin is also an amazing chef but only there on weekends! You wont regret it! They have the best poke I have tried in Tulsa by far.

While lots of people like to focus on the sushi quality of this place(which is fairly good for what you pay), Fuji’s should be more well known for their other entrée options… especially their bento box meals. Not only do they start with the standard miso soup and salad with ginger sesame dressing, but you get a decent serving of edamame, Japanese pickles, a fruit salad, and a trio of appetizers including a dumpling, and some variations of a fritter. Then you pick your two entrees which can include: a generous portion of chicken, beef, and salmon along with a heap of rice; ika salad; tempura or a large roll of sushi of your choice. Lots of great tasting food for only $ 16. Haven’t been for lunch, but they offer the same variety at dinner at $ 10, which is a steal and probably one of the best lunch deals in town. Sushi menu is very diverse and the quality is above par.

Best sushi in town with the best prices! I visit here a lot with my work, friends or even just enjoying a lunch to myself! They have a wonderful lunch special that everyone should give a try. I normally have the same waitress for lunch that knows what rolls I like and that I like avocado over jalapeños in the dead head roll. Give that a try if your not a fan of the spicy rolls. Everyone in the place is nice looking and very nice to be around. I will be telling all of my friends to give this place a try!

This is the grand daddy of Japanese restaurants in Tulsa, it’s been open since the early 80s and is probably along with the old Osaka(closed) at 51st and Harvard the original Japanese restaurants in Tulsa. I quit going here for a while, I would stop by there for lunch and the service was non-existent. It seemed like Nobu was paying more attention to his new project Zanmai around Cherry Street. Forget all that, go in the evening and go to the right, where the sports bar section is. The bartender is Matt, he’s awesome, like a personal party host and you can order all your food there. This is our go to place on the weekend now, along with Mekong River. Great drinks and ambience.

Very disappointed with the lunch special. The lobster roll was inedible, tasted like rubber. The salmon skin roll, unagi roll, and so-called spicy tuna roll were bland and uninteresting. I’ve had better sushi at an all-you-can-eat sushi place. Worst of all was the sunonomo salad which tasted like a mouthful of pickle juice. This was only the first sushi place we’ve eaten at in Tulsa, and I hope the others do better than Fuji. the fried oysters were greasy and unpalatable. We could have done better at home. Next…

This place has enough vegan options to keep things interesting for repeat visits. The vegan rolls are good, if a little uninteresting, uninspired and unoriginal. But the ingredients are fresh and the build quality is fine. The Tsukemono, assorted Japanese pickled vegetables, is vegan and is a very good appetizer and someth9ing one can’t get everywhere. They have two vegan soups, a miso and a ramen, which are both very good. They have a decent sake selection and the prices are fine. The service is spotty, never bad but sometimes slow. There is one server there, Hannah, I think, that knows from vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, all the questions one could have, she knows the answers. If you are lucky enough to wind up in her section, you’re gonna have a good time. There are more vegan options than the ones I’ve written of, these are only some of my favourites.

Learning my way through a sushi menu. Have thoroughly enjoyed everything we have ordered here. Service is always good, with great recommendations from the staff! Nice quiet atmosphere, with a nice bar to watch them roll!

This place is a mixed bag. Honestly the food isnt bad and there is a lot of variety on the menu. The service however leaves a lot to be desired. It took more than 10 minutes for our server to arrive and since we werent given menus we werent ready to order when she did. We needed some time to look over the menu and thats exactly what we got. It was another 15 minutes before our server came back. The server was polite and my guess is that they were understaffed. With the exception of a guy who seemed to be bussing/hosting nobody else seemed happy. No other smiles or even acknowledgements of our presence. The value was good my lady and I ate for about $ 25 after tax. The edamame was not hot and the salt was clumped on it though. Other than that the tempura shrimp and veggies that I had with my box special was really good. The 3 sushi rolls we ordered with the geisha lunch special were also very tasty. Not bad for the money but for the overall experience i prefer in the raw.

I found a new love today and it’s sushi! Hubby and I dined here tonight and it was excellent! He ordered the Makimono Combination; California roll, Philadelphia roll, and Old fashioned tuna roll. I ordered the grilled skewers with chicken. The atmosphere was very pleasant and our food arrived quickly. We had the miso soup and house salad with peanut sauce. The miso soup tasted very hearty and the salad was excellent. It was my first time trying the peanut sauce and the taste lives up to its name. It really did taste like peanuts! When our sushi arrived, I marveled at how beautiful the sushi looked. It was so colorful. It came with soy sauce for dipping. I had never had sushi before and was apprehensive. I tried the old fashioned tuna roll and it was amazing! The texture was a bit chewy for my liking, but I have nothing to compare it to as of yet. But the taste… oh my, it was incredible. it was very light and clean tasting. My tuna was a bit salty and very meaty tasting. However, the soy sauce could have contributed to the taste. The grilled skewers were in a teriyaki sauce and just tasted so delicious. The meal was a great new experience for me. I enjoyed trying something new and we plan to come back.

Have to agree with other reviews on this site. Been eating here since it opened and it has gone through a lot of changes through the years. When it first opened the food and the service were impeccable. Lately tho things have become somewhat uneven. Part of the reason is the continuous turnover in help. Fuji is at it’s best when there are experienced servers and chefs at work. Last visit the food was pretty good, the server was attentive but for about the 3rd time in a row my order got lost behind the sushi bar leading to a much longer meal than I wanted. Not sure who manages the place but that would seem to be the weak spot currently. The only reason I don’t eat here more is because I’m not sure I’m getting good value for the prices.

We’ve eaten at Fuji way more than we should have, because it’s close to our house, and the sushi is not awful. I’ve been too lazy to find a better place, but I’m looking for one after this evening. First, the service is just awful. It’s multi-dimensions of awful. When you arrive there may or may not be someone to greet you. There may be someone three feet away who never greets you or finds someone else to greet you. When someone does finally greet you they’re not warm or welcoming. Instead they act as if you’ve taken them away from something much more important. When seated you may or may not have silverware/chopsticks. You may or may not receive the complimentary chips and/or hot washcloths. You may sit for 15 minutes or more before your wait person graces you with his/her presence. The waitstaff are consistently ignorant about the menu. I’ve asked basic questions about dishes that my waitperson couldn’t answer, nor did they offer to find out the answer for me. One night I asked if the French Martini was more Chambord or more Vodka, and the server explained that because he was not of drinking age and had never had one, he didn’t know. That logic is fairly standard at Fuji. We rarely have dishes arrive at the table in the proper order. I’ve had waitstaff forget our appetizer or bring it after the entrée, and never even acknowledge that it was an issue. I’ve also waited 45+ minutes for our food to arrive at all. The food is not horrible, but it’s definitely not great. The menu is huge, but everything seems to have something fried in it. What’s not fried is over-engineered, as though they’re trying to confuse your tastebuds. Also, the food is not terribly consistent. One night it might be fairly good, but then when I order the same thing a few weeks later, it’s tastes/looks different. They do have a decent kids menu, which is a plus. So, sadly, this is just not a place I would recommend to spend your money or time.

I lived briefly in Tulsa in 1996, and literally ate at Fuji every night for 2 months. There were a few things on that menu that became addictions. Nearly 20 years later I’m visiting Tulsa and wondered if they were still there, new owner? New menu? I gave it a try. It is in the same location. Not sure about the ownership, and the menu has expanded quite a lot. But the food was really good! My «Tako Salad» is still on the menu and delicious! A million interesting rolls, fresh fish, hamachi kama(highly recommend). Service was ok, not great– but I will allow that to get a pass. Ate there 2 nights in a row! Looking forward to my next Tulsa trip!
