Roberts’ Hallmark Shop

I am disgusted by the actions of your staff, therefore, I will never shop here again. While I was browsing, a young man walked in and asked the lady if they were hiring. Mind you he was disheveled and, it was obvious that he was special needs.
She looked him up and down and snottily replied, «No.» Then, AFTER he walked out, she turned to her coworker and laughed and said, «We’d never hire HIM anyway.»
I promptly turned to her, and the coworker, who laughed along side her and said, «You just lost a sale. I will not do business at a place where the employees disrespect anyone. Especially someone who probably struggled to get the courage to come in and ask the question.
After I left the store, I called and spoke to Darlene, the assistant manager. She was full of excuses regarding the employee’s behavior. „She’s new.“ She’s never worked in customer service before.» «This will have to be a training exercise.» So, I asked her, «And, how do you excuse YOUR behavior?» She replied, «I really wasn’t paying any attention to what she said.» I said, «That excuse might work if you hadn’t laughed along side her. However, I think you could both use a dose of compassion and humility. Common human decency can’t be taught in a training exercise.»
I actually had a chance to talk with the young man after leaving the store. I apologized to him for the way he was treated. His reply broke my heart. «It’s okay. It happens all the time.» I tried my best to boost his broken spirit and told him I had seen a couple of other places that were hiring and gave him some leads.
The point is, kindness costs nothing! A smile and a few encouraging words can make someone’s day/​life. THAT is caring enough to DO the very best.

Rude! I dont care if it is Valentine’s Day, these people need to get a fast grip on customer service. Also, when a customer expresses their concern over how they were treated, look them in the eye and do NOT try to get the last word in. Being a smart ass only gets you in deeper trouble. Also, a poor selection of cards for the occasion. Very poor.

I needed a birthday card for a friend/​co-​worker STAT! I made my way over to the Hallmark store to pick up a card and was pleasantly surprised to see how large this store was. I ended up purchasing a few extra cards for those «just in case» moments that always seem to pop up. Great place to pick up cards or little gifty items.
