No no no, not a fan. First I hate menus without pictures. Sometimes you’re unfamiliar with the name of a fish but know what it looks like. For example, I like the red tuna– not the white. But their not labeled«red» and«white» so that makes it difficult without a photo. So frustrating. Personally I didn’t feel they had a lot of options for someone who’s not as adventurous. The presentation was cool, big plates, sauces, that was neat! Not my fav place in Turlock!

Location: on Monte Vista across the street from CSU Stan. Setting: small, total 38 seats. Food: decent and fresh in general. Service: good and bad depending on who your waitress is. We are regular since its opening when the owner was there during lunch time, and they had that nice and sweetJapanese waitress, and when they offered bonus stamps to frequent visitors. Today’s visit is a disappointment. One less star is due to the attitude of our server(she has a twin sister who is usually better.). She is always a bit patronizing, treating us old customers like her kids, I guess. She can use some guidance on good customer service. Second missing star is due to the tofu salad, half its normal size and veggie no fresh at all. And sad to say, the shrimp in our tempura roll is also not fresh. Wish our next visit will be pleasant, so we will review and add those stars back.

Absolutely delicious and great service. The waitress suggested a lunch special compared to the combination plate we were prepared to pay more for. This was helpful. The waitress further showed us the difference between the calamari and the fried squid. The photographs are a great supplement to the menu.

Whoa! I thought I was the only one who had a bad experience with the owner!!! reading these reviews shows a real problem here! I was told that we had been at our table to long and it was time to go! I’m a small business owner on top of working at the hospital so I understand customer service on many levels!!! I would never ever ever ever be rude to someone being kind enough to bring me business! I just spent good money here visiting with a friend enjoying lunch. I’m so offended. I will never be back and I will warm my close friends! You do not deserve good business because you have zero sense of what good business is.

Horrible customer service. The owner is rude, feels entitled, and will not welcome you. Food is mediocre and pricey. The atmosphere is not welcoming and tables are to close together. The other sushi restaurants in town are a better choice.

I went to sushi garden on a Friday night st 830pm and their business hours are posted stating they are open until 9’pm. Their doors were locked when I got there. The owner and 2 waitresses completely ignored my presence when I knocked on the window. When I called the restaurant they told me that there is nothing they can do and that they are closed. I have been a loyal customer for years. I will never be coming back to this restaurant again. Such a rude encounter.

Called and Called and Called to order for take out on a Friday while business hours and no one picked up. This is my second try for this location. The first visit the customer service was great. I just wish that they would have picked up the phone for my second try of the place.

This is the first time I have ever felt the need to write a review. A friend and I chose this restaurant in hopes of enjoying a nice relaxing dinner. All was great up until the owner came out and started putting some tables together and pointed at us and said«I need those tables» We were confused as we didn’t really know if he was talking to us. He then told his waitress pointing at our direction«I need those tables» again we didn’t know if we were being kicked out, asked to move or if he was even talking to us. We then asked the waitress if he was asking us to leave? She shrugged her shoulders confused herself. My friend then asked him are you asking us to leave? and he nodded yes. She then said, ok but we won’t be coming back. He then said«I don’t care» as he wiped the table. We were not being rude or loud, we were chatting and finishing up our dinks. The place was not full as there where many empty tables. We think a big group called in and he was preparing for them. He was rude and very unprofessional with us, as he could have handled the situation diffrently if he really did needed our table. We left shocked, feeling singled out and embarrassed… especially after we had each just payed over $ 20 for a plate. I do have to say that the waitress was very apologetic and felt bad.

This is my first time writing a review. Honestly, I’m so disappointed with the owner. Basically, my friend and I were told to leave by the owner after we had finished our food and paid. The owner came to our table and mumbled that he needed the table. We were in disbelief because the place was not full. When I asked him, «Are you asking us to leave?» He quickly replied with a yes! I’m truly disappointed because Turlock has a very limited sushi options. If you you are caving sushi, go somewhere else. The owner has horrible customer service.

As far as in the town of Turlock, this is the best sushi food that I have tried. Clean place and fresh food. Have eaten there and also done take out, no difference, still good.

I’m bit of a sushi snob, so I can say that you are better off driving to San Fran or the Bay Area for a really good quality sushi or sashimi meal. I seriously hesitated eating here but I had such a bad sushi craving and didn’t have time to drive an hour out I never returned, however since the server was very sweet and polite also efficient I give this place 2 stars.

Whenever I’m traveling from Sacramento to Turlock I always stop here for lunch. I always get the sushi lunch. The lunch special is extremely large and very filling. this is what comes with it: potato salad is bomb, side salad with good Asians dressing, tempura vegetables awesome California roll 4 pieces are yummy and the fresh tuna and salmon. Great lunch under $ 15

The sushi here is moderately priced, nothing too pricey, nothing super cheap. The seaweed salad needs some work, maybe a little more sauce. The Oh My God Roll is delicious and gigantic too! The chefs are very friendly and accomodating. All in all I will probably be back but this is not the best sushi I’ve ever had.

When I first got there(at the beginning of the noon hour) it was so quiet, I was one of 3 tables… But by the time I was leaving, all tables were packed… Dining alone is no fun, as I like to try a variety of items during my visit… I at least got to try 2 rolls UnaQ(low carb) and the spicy tuna roll(light on the rice)… a Miso soup was complimentary… Very tasty meal… not many Sushi Choices in Turlock to compare… But I know when I’m craving sushi, and I’m in the area, I won’t hesitate on coming back. Friendly staff(sisters look like twins– both were very sweet and knowledgeable on the menu) Never had an empty glass… Be back soon!

Bones in the sushi, no rice for the kids meals, and the teriyaki chicken roll was dry and flavorless! Skip this place. The bathroom and windows were also very dirty.

This is a good sushi place for Turlock. These are not very many sushi options in town, let alone with quality fish. This is a very friendly environment where the employees remember you and feels like a you’re going to a friends restaurant. I love the picture menu! Yes sounds dumb, but I’ll tell ya all guys secretly wish all menus had pictures, that’s where Unilocal usually comes in for me, but they had it, picture menu– awesome!

Awesome food. All the time. Everything is great!!! I wouldn’t recommend ordering take out. But if you do, make sure it’s your order… We picked it up, got home and noticed our order was wrong. Called & re-ordered. Drove back(about ten mins.) & they tried to give us our food that was sitting there on the counter for the past 25 mins. No thanks. The food we brought back was given to another customer… Fresh, raw fish that made a trip to our house and back. Not good practices. We asked for some soup & he wanted to charge us! Keep your money. The manager, or whoever the older gentleman is, answering phones and taking your credit card, should probably get some training on customer service and OSHA/FFDA regs.

I’m from Stockton where there are tons of sushi joints and my brother is a sushi chef so I’d like to think I know good sushi. Sushi Garden really blew me away. This place is quite small but they definitely utilize the space well. All tables and no booths, but I didn’t mind since we got a nice table window. So I came in Halloween morning with my friends and neice. I’d heard great things about this place and have been wanting to try this place out. It really lived up to its reputation. Workers were dressed in cute costumes and treated us like family. Initially our order was taken by the male server, but it was dropped off by the female server. Both checked on us constantly to make sure we were happy with our orders(but not annoyingly). Clean restaurant. Friendly atmosphere. Delicious food. Generous portions. Definitely my go to sushi place in Turlock!
