While I’m glad that there is a nice clothing store in this part of the county, the term«Rack» won’t get you the most decent prices in town. This location is associated with the Gary’s at Fashion Island in Newport Beach. They have some great brands and high quality clothing, but at even 50% off some of their clothing still seems expensive. Bills Khakis, Ermene Zegna shirts, Alden shoes but with prices to keep the lowly riff-raff at bay. Good brands makes it at least worth a visit.

Such a disappointment! I have lived in Tustin and a stone throw away from this business and frequent the restaurant next door as well as my haircuts at the Wooden Indian for over 15 years. I have always wanted to step in there to look around but knew that it would mostly be out of my price range. Always saw the Hawaiian shirts displayed at the front window and as a local business owner was invited to a big business Luau tomorrow. So right away I knew exactly where to go to try and find a shirt. Walked in at 4:15PM with no one else in the store, but the guy sitting behind the counter was too lazy to greet me until I finally said something to him that may have caused him to pull his eyelids back enough just to barely get a response. I browsed through the shirts and found everything to be over $ 60.00 for a shirt that I would wear just a few times. He never offered any help or moved. I asked if this was all the Hawaiian shirts to which he barely said yup. However, as I proceeded to walk out there was a table 2 feet away from him with additional shirts. I made the comment that there were more shirts to receive no response. I then proceeded to leave and half way out the door I said bye noting that he never made eye contact with me and barely mumbled thank you. I love the idea that it reminded me of how successful I am because of the way I treat my customers especially 1st timers. I’ll probably now give it about another 15 years before going back in even though I found a shirt with New York Giant print on it I would have most likely bought as a big fan had I though they were even interested in a sell… must have been the crowd!

First, this place is really called Gary’s Rack and hopefully the work with Unilocal to fix this naming issue soon. I note Gary’s has not claimed this business, yet. Second, this store is a great place to look for high end items at good prices. I can only assume that when things don’t sell in Newport Beach, they find their way here. Or, perhaps a picky customer returns an item and Gary’s simply needs to offload it elsewhere at a discount. Either way, those who can wait three to six months after an article of clothing is debuted with be rewarded with good prices. I have found several Hugo Boss suits here that were well over 50% cheaper than their equal at Nordstrom. And they hav a vast array of shirts and slacks. In all cases, however, you can’t go only by the labels for sizes. I think some of these items are here because they were mislabled and that likely is why they were returned. So be sure to try on the shirts and pants and suits before buying. I have at least two shirts that I learned the hard way about this. I gave this a moderate price rating because while these are huge discounts off retail prices, these are still high end clothing items so you will still spent nearly $ 400 ona suit(or more for other brands). Don’t confuse this with a thirft store. Beware the funky hours, too. I recall them being closed on Sunday and Monday.
