We have been to this place once a month for the last few years, mostly on Saturday. Tonight, we have to give the thumb down to the sole bartender working at the bar. She said her name is Amy, but the security person said her name is Sherie. While we were dancing, she took my wife’s drink away. The drink was still 2⁄3 full .And we put a napkin over the drink to indicate that we would be back. My wife’s jacket is on the stool. We had to wait for 15 minutes to get a chance to talk to her about it and she blamed the bus person about this. Then when we asked the bus person about this he said he did not remove our drink. This bartender has worked at Marty recently and we think she should be gotten more training to handle customers. We paid for our drink and we should be able to finish our drinks. She should have been more professional.

I’m not sure why I haven’t been here before. Date took me for Karoeke night. Staff was very friendly. Understaffed this night but still worth a five star because the drinks were great prices, Salmon dinner came with a tasty meatball soup, rice and broccoli. The dinner was definitely something that you would find in a high end restaurant. The server/bartender did a fantastic job with service, drinks and accommodating service. I was able to sing a lot of songs, the KJ was so nice too. This is my choice for the bar/restaurant of the week! You absolutely must try it.

2nd update after 8th call. Person answering the phone recognized my voice by now, and they see my name on the call. Tone has changed from previous ones telling me to essentially take a hike and take care of it myself to «we can’t just be giving you money because you claim you were double charged. He actually let me finish the sentence explaining to him AGAIN that it was a DEBIT charge, not a CREDIT charge, and you can’t dispute DEBIT charges the same way you can CREDIT charges. He told me «You need to bring in a statement and show us». Well, when I DROVEIN, and had the statement on the phone, they couldn’t deal with it. So now more wasted time on my part will be in the form of a letter with a partial copy of my bank statement, which I had in front of them before. I suppose going off the admissions of the waitress and bartender would be too much to ask for them to actually speak to the employees there that night when it happened. In the midst of him explaining they needed it on paper, the line went dead. He either hung up, or was moving and lost connection — oh wait, its a LAN line I called. I wasn’t moving and still had bars on my phone, so perhaps he hung up on me. I don’t know. I just know this is not how any half way competent business treats customers. BTW, everyone else that went to see my friends band said the service was very slow too. From my observations while there, like many places, I think it’s a matter of them being understaffed and overwhelmed. They’re doing that to the people working in the trenches everywhere. If an owner wants a business to thrive, they need to provide good customer service FIRST, and maximize profits saving hourly wages for one more person second, otherwise, people will vote with their feet. So what do I have to do now, waste time and send my letter registered to make sure they got it? This has been the weakest string of excuses for a simple double charge.

My new favorite place. Mike’s seafood boil is amazing. I was skeptical about ordering it, but after hearing he was from New Orleans I thought would give it a shot. Man, he didn’t disappoint. Great job Mike!!! We’ll try his fried catfish next time.

Love this place! My fiancé and I had our first date there over four years ago. Great atmosphere, not too quiet not too loud. Good drinks, good food, friendly staff and colorful regulars. I love the décor as well. Critical to a dive bar.

Just finished eating Chef Mike’s corned beef dinner for St Patrick’s Day and have to say that it was the best I’ve ever eaten. The corned beef was plentiful and all the veggies to compliment had a distinct savory flavor. For $ 14 bucks, well worth it. Great job guys!

I have not been here in years, and man has it changed. It has transformed from sleepy little restaurant to full blown karoke bar. There is a pretty decent stage, tons of room, and, of course, a large bar area. Of course, it is also pretty loud, so this is not the best venue for intimate conversations. The have a pool table, a soft tips dart board, TVs., all the usual suspects.

Came here on a Friday for some karaōke and it was great. They have extended happy hour until 9, which is when the karaōke starts.

I love this place on Saturday night. Parking is horrible BUT the live bands and cheap drinks make it worth the hassle. I haven’t tried the food I’ve only gone for the music and drinks. Mostly an older crowd who love the old school music. They have pool tables too. Not the nicest looking bar and I had to chuckle at the disco ball above the dance floor but it’s definitely entertaining and the bartender we had last night was very friendly.

We ordered food and did takeout, so this review is only for the food and the takeout service. I found the menu online and ordered by phone. Their menu looked pretty good with great prices. Normally, we won’t do catfish(or any fish, really) unless we’ve seen the place, but we decided to try it this time. When we arrived, we got nervous because this place looks like a real hole in the wall from the outside! However, their food was outstanding! I got the fried chicken. they gave me four huge pieces of chicken that were moist and full of flavor. The batter that they used was amazing. My boyfriend got the catfish and he said that the batter they used was great. He was very happy with his meal. We each got a salad; the vegetables were really fresh and crunchy. The salad came in a separate container and was pretty large; I could have eaten the salad by itself as a meal. The chicken came with either fries or onion rings; I got the onion rings. They were also really big, great batter, and they came in a great portion size. My boyfriend got fries and a side of collard greens(the fries came with the catfish and the greens were extra). He enjoyed the fries. The staff told him that the collard greens have no meat(he’s a pescatarian) but they actually do have meat, so he couldn’t eat them.

Been there on a Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. I’d have to say that really Thursday(or presumably a weekend night) would be the best times to go. The interior is really classy — especially for being in a fairly«humble» neighborhood. The food I’ve had there has always been top-notch. The only knock on it I’d really give is that the atmosphere is just kind of sullen most of the time. Things picked up a bit for karaōke. I had fun, and the KJ was really friendly, but it definitely didn’t have the party vibe that Pineapple Hill has on occasion. Maybe everyone was staying home due to the cold, who knows.

I’ve been frequenting Marty’s the last two to three years and have always had positive and pleasant experiences with all staff who are attentive, professional, and proficient. Five stars as well for the food, especially the fried catfish, fried shrimp and chicken wings«Chef Mike’s Way», fried chicken dinner, and the various soups(beef barley and chicken with okra are my personal favorites). Although the aforementioned are my favorites, I’ve had many other menu items which have been phenomenal. Portions are large and more than reasonably priced. Atmosphere: Usually casual, mellow, and unassuming with people of all ages and ethnicities. Touch Tunes seems to be popular. Live music and dancing occurs Saturdays after 9 p.m. which understandably changes the bar’s energy. My only gripe: On a few sporadic occasions, liquor-induced, sloppy patrons have affected the overall bar vibe. It should be noted staff have addressed these situations quickly and with appropriate action. In summary, an awesome neighborhood bar if you’re looking to enjoy a cocktail, have something to eat, and if you wish, socialize with a diverse crowd.

Wanted to enjoy karaōke and a few drinks with my friend and didn’t know where to go on a Thursday night. We Unilocaled and found Marty’s. It was an okay experience. The karaōke was fun, even though the bar was pretty empty. The whisky sour was the worst I’ve ever had. The bar tender graciously exchanged it for a Cadillac margarita, which was bearable but not what I’ve come to expect from a good mixologist. We were hungry and had a few items. The red beans and rice were tasty. I should have just gotten those. I wasn’t thrilled with the fried cheese or fried green beans. I’ll likely never return to this spot.

This review is for the food. Although all the dishes are pretty damn good, Mike, the owner of the restaraunt portion, literally makes the BESTSTEAK in OC. Or ANYWHERE I have ever had a steak before. Steak and baked potato is what I grew up on as a standard weekend family dinner. So, that being said, its something I crave from time to time, an itch that must be scratched. Oh, yea, I’ve had steak at all the standard steak houses, none of them even come close to comparing to the absolute perfect specimen I recieve every time from Mike. Not only that, but his New York Strip special is a cool $ 15, includes soup AND salad, a baked potato(with butter, sour cream, real crumbled bacon and fresh chives on the side), and seasonal vegis(perfectly seasoned). So, next time you are ready to spend a little dough on a Steak dinner, pass up the Oubacks, Sizlers and other Steakhouse chains of the world, and come to Martys. Not only will you pay less than half the price for double the food, but your tastebuds will remember this epic, tasty, heavenly steak dinner for a long time to come. P. S. Since its also a bar it might be a great way to take a date out for a steak dinner without breaking the bank, and look a little better in the low lighting and with the strong drinks the bartenders like to pour, haha. Just sayin.

The drinks are a good price and the food is okay. The bartender that night was nice, but it was busy so it took a little while to get our drinks. It’s pretty dim, but cool for a dive bar. I didn’t have a great experience with an incident that happened after. I lost my bracelet there on Saturday 12⁄5 and I went back in to ask if anyone turned it in, but the guy behind the bar was less than helpful, not friendly, and seemed more annoyed that I was asking to check the lost and found. He also said there was another one in the office but never offered to show me that. Needless to say I didn’t find the bracelet.

Highlights + Cheap Beer($ 4 Hef) + Karaōke + Vibe — Crowded — Loudish First thing I noticed is that everyone was having a really good time. Even the bartenders were smiling and dancing as they were serving the drinks. There is open karaōke so it can get a bit loud to talk to your friends. They have dartboards and a pool table(pool table’s always busy). Overall a very happening and cool place to relax.

Good food, great service and average karaōke are what you’ll find at this neighborhood bar. Shawna was behind the bar Wednesday night and offered a friendly greeting, a menu and very quickly had my beer in front of me. She was on top of her game and made sure I never went thirsty. The crowd was small, and definitely regulars but they made you feel at home. I had the New York strip meal and was pleasantly surprised. It was a good sized steak, baked potato, and vegetables started off with a small salad and a bowl of soup. The steak was cooked to order and very tasty. The entire meal was very good. The only area that could’ve made this a better experience was the karaōke. The KJ kept a good rotation and the crowd was appreciative, but he didn’t have a good mastery of the equipment. Mic volume was too high and for less experienced singers that didn’t know to pull back, they overpowered the song which was evident to the crowd. Also, there didn’t appear to be a book so if you didn’t have an idea of what you wanted to sing you had to come up with it on your own. Overall, I’d recommend this place again, especially with a small group of friends that want good food and a short rotation for singing!

What has happened to this place??? In the past service was fast, friendly & yummie! Tonight it was slow, generally not friendly wait staff but still great wings! I’m Super disappointed in the recent changes. Dalia was very sweet but her serving partner was VERY unpleasant. Might I even say a b!£€%!! I don’t get to go out that often, and when I do I want to make sure it’s enjoyable! I may need to find a new location if they can not improve service! I’m a local and I’m disappointed!

Good food for bar food. We were looking for a dinner after 10pm and stumbled upon Marty’s. We both ordered pizza which was delicious. The staff was friendly and recommend the Marguerite pizza. I ordered the Marguerite but she said the chef was injured and couldn’t make the sauce. So I opted for the vegetable pizza. It was really good. Better than I expected for a 10:30pm meal. I didn’t order any alcohol but my husband did. Decent prices overall and service. Would recommend this place and come here again. The only negative I saw was their sound system for the karaōke sounded bad and needed to be turned down. Way too loud and obnoxious.
