Ralphs Fresh Fare

This is the my favorite Ralph’s market. Friendly helpful employees and the displays of vegetables our fresh. The bakery is beautiful and lots of great bread and sweets. Inside is a Starbucks which makes wonderful drinks and friendly ladies. The isles our wide and the store is very clean. Great shopping experience

Bakery (with Top Pot donuts!), deli (hot & cold), sushi station, red box, lotto machine, Starbucks, good gourmet cheese section, the list goes on and on. This is all in addition to your standard market stuff. Really big booze section too. The service here is good. At the deli case, you can sample anything, including the slice meats and cheeses. Sometimes you have to wait a few, but it’s never that bad. Everytime we order a cake from here we get lots of compliments too… just make sure you get whipped cream frosting. So much lighter than buttercream.
This is my favorite market in the area, even though I pass by an Albertson’s to get here. Tonight, even though it was pretty crowded, the checkout lines were short because they had most lanes open. They have self checkout too.

Ok guy’s, normally I don’t like to give bad reviews, but the bakery failed me.
Let me preface by saying, that I really do like shopping for groceries here and that everyone is really helpful.
So I ordered a cake on Thursday for pick-​up the following Monday. It was a white cake with white frosting and lemon filling. My only special request was that they put coconut on the outside of the cake. I was asked to call the following day and speak to the manager to confirm it could be done. I called, spoke to the manager, she was very nice, she said no problem. We even spoke about swirling some lemon on the cake, I said perfect. Fast forward to today, went to pick-​up the cake, cake was ready but no lemon on top, luckily the coconut was on the cake as requested. I was asked if it looked ok, I said well hopefully there’s lemon filling? The response from the person I dealt with, «oh I’m sure if you asked for it, it’s in there». Well guess what? No lemon filling! The cake was good but I’m somewhat disappointed.

The only reason my husband and I keep shopping here is convenience and location, it is a short walk from where we live. If it wasn’t for that we would never shop here. The produce is over priced and is not that great– actually most of the items in this store are over priced. I have lost count of the number of times I have picked up something that was rotten. FYI Onions should not be soft and growing mold. The pre-​bagged red potatoes are usually growing eyes and limbs so be careful how you pick out your bag of taters.
Good luck finding anyone to help you at the meat counter, I never see anyone working at the counter or in the back and there is no way to signal anyone if you need help. Also make sure to look at expiration dates on the meat, if it’s a «deal» it’s most likely has reached it’s sell by date — learned that lesson today. Awesome all the packs of chicken breasts are $ 12 plus but this one is $ 5…wait it needs to sell by today NO THANKS.
Also check the expiration dates on shelf items like soups, salad dressings, sauces etc. A few months ago I purchased a salad dressing, and when I got home and opened it I noticed it expired over a year ago. If it was a day or two, fine you can overlook that but ONE YEAR not so much.
The only two positive things about this store, other than location, are the deli and the employees. The deli staff is pretty on top of things and the made to order sandwiches are really good. It’s just too bad the rest of the store kind of sucks.

I was there buying groceries and got into the lotto line. Never bought lotto in these machines and the clerk was helping everyone.
Had my daughter fill one out and instead of filling in the bubbles she circled them. Got to the front of the line and that ticket was declined. Clerk told me I can come to front of the line again which by now had wrapped halfway down the store.
Since it was getting close to drawing time people were seriously getting frantic and started hovering all over the front of the lines. Finally filled out my last ticket again and stood at the front. Suddenly this older lady tried to punk me and tells me to stop cutting lol. I’m like wtf. Then her daughter with two kids hanging off her like monkeys jumps in and it’s now 2 against one. They told me they had been there the whole time and I was cutting even though I was seriously like 4^th in line before it turned into a 30 person lineup.
Omgosh this was the last thing I needed. Didn’t want this gross vibe going on right before I’m gonna be a billionaire ya know?
So I called the manager and told her that I was at the front of the line and told her to check those women. She says «we don’t own the lotto so there’s nothing we can do.»
Are you serious? She literally allowed pandemonium to go down with the lines getting longer and tighter with all these vultures swarming over all the customers who were at the machines.
So the two women continued to argue with me, all up in my face! even though I was being nice they continued to try to force me to the back of the line by yelling and harassing me. I got fed up, looked her straight in her eyes told her I ain’t going no where and that they are the ones that need to get their asses to the back. I seriously had it and wouldn’t have backed down if Shit went down over a lotto ticket lol. (Wouldn’t that be graceful to see myself fighting in a grocery store, over lotto line? Lol)
The Mexican older lady then calls me a Jap lol and started bitching to her ghetto ass daughter in Spanish.
Sorry biotch but nice try tryin to punk me.

Stopped to pick up a few items on Christmas Eve, first they didn’t carry what I wanted, I really miss pavilions, the market is packed, no surprise, what is a surprise is that on every aisle they have carts while they restock, seems the personnel would be better sourced running the registers and collecting carts (which there were none of) than blocking the aisles.

Horrible service & they don’t care how much they inconvenience their customers. Made me unload all my groceries and rering the entire purchase because of $ 3. I won’t be back and I’ve shopped here for over 8 years

I go here all the time today I was on my lunch break and went in to get a few items. My total was $ 18.00. I realized I left my wallet at my office. I asked the cashier if I could write a check she said yes. I wrote my check then she asked for my ID. I told her again I left my wallet but I know my number and I have a picture on my name badge. My name badge matches the check. I live locally and it was $ 18.00. I also used my Ralph’s reward card so they can see I have shopped there for over 20 years. They still said no I can’t write a check since I didn’t physically have my license. I understand policy and procedures but it was $ 18.00, really they couldn’t make an exception 1time. Then the bagger said I took a check without a license and it was a bad check. The checker said we aren’t saying your check is bad. I could understand if it was a larger transaction but come on $ 18.00 and I had a photo id badge with my first and last name.

Call me weird for giving five stars right now… BUT. This is hands down my favorite Ralph’s! The employees are great, and Jose always greets me and the hubby like family! Five stars all the way!

I only do my grocery shopping here because it’s close and convenient. but I recommend going elsewhere for meat and fruits. I’ve yet to have brought home fresh meat, they always have a funky smell once I bring it home. and the fruits they have out never look fresh.

How funny. my review is about ANNETTE as well. if you happen to end up in her line do not even bother getting your groceries without being poorly treated with snarky remarks and inappropriate sarcasm. I go here for lunch quite often. but after dealing with her I do not think its worth my time or money. I usuallt get a salad with dressing on the side. they give you separate containers for your salad as well as your dressing. i have never had to pay for my dressing on the side and i have been working in the plaza for almost TWO YEARS. as soon as she weighed my salad she then looked in my hand and said «um i need to weigh that as well» and glared at me as if i was trying to steal something. i said that ive never been charged for dressing on the side before and then she laughed and looked at me like i was stupid and said «uhhhhh its always been like this. it either goes in your salad or im weighing the dressing and charging for it» lady behind me took my side, said it was ridiculous and she then attempted to make the lady behind me think as if she were dumb too. WHERE IS THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND POLITENESS??? This matter did not have to turn into such a big deal and she held up the entire line just to be able to prove a customer wrong. of course i went without the dressing. Currently sitting at the panera tables eating an extremely dry salad. last time getting food here!

Wow. I wish I had come here sooner. I usually go between Sprouts and Trader Joe’s but neither really have a great meat/​butcher department, so I’m glad I discovered this Ralph’s finally. It’s a really nice grocery store. I love the upscale feel. The store is very well organized and clean.
The meat guys were helpful, the cashier was super nice and pleasant, even the Starbucks inside the store offered great service.
A very happy customer. I will be a regular.

This is probably one of the «MOST RACIST» stores I have ever shopped at. I have been living in Irvine for over 7 years and I have only shopped at Albertson’s or Ralph’s. After witnessing Anette Leering and yelling at one of her employees when I walked into the store who happens to be Hispanic, i immediately clarified my suspicions that she is indeed racist against the Hispanic community. IN FACT I purposely stood in her line behind a white female and noticed how she immediately greeted her right away *almost as if she was being submissive*, as soon as she was finished ringing her items up, It was then my turn and she didn’t greet me first until i said, «hello…» all she did was slightly give me a grin, and said «hi». She didn’t bother to make small talk with me as she did with the white female customer, I guess because of the color of my skin i don’t deserve to be asked some generic questions like her, «how are you doing today?» or perhaps its my perfect English that she can’t understand. I may be Hispanic but as a general manager and the owner of my dealership we treat everyone equally and ethically. I am truly disappointed at the level of disrespect I witnessed, and felt. I will never spend my money at this location ever again. My dealership would always buy from this place in bulk and spend thousands. Now I will be more than happy to spend a little more time and money in gas to send my employees to any other groceries stores for any bulk items.

Here is one of my favorite quotes «Your best customers leave quite an impression. Do the same, and they won’t leave at all.» and with this treatment I am truly impressed.

This Ralphs branch is up to date with not 4, but 6 self-​checkouts. None of them were being used as of the time of our visit, but at least I won’t need to worry about waiting so long to purchase anything. It is decorated with a unique layout including slanted aisles and a grapevine fence on top of one of the refrigerators and a structure that houses the wine. This visit was business as usual and nothing unusual occurred.
It also has a water vending machine outside and two Redboxes.

Watch out for expired dates on products…

I am reviewing the new Starbucks currently located inside Ralph’s. I was very excited that Starbucks was finally going inside Ralph’s to relieve the congestion that Starbucks on El Camino is experiencing. They opened 3 weeks ago and have been experiencing many problems. 1^st they are severely under staffed. Don’t expect the short line to guarantee a quick in and out. There is usually only one team member working making both drinks and taking orders. This makes it difficult to get in and out.
They continue to run out of lids and often are out of nonfat milk. The scanner for smart phone apps is still not in and you must read your 16 digit number to the staff.
I am hoping that they are just experiencing growing pains and they will rise to the level of quality that SB is known for.

I’m not sure if this store was recently remodeled, but it’s pretty awesome. First, the alcohol aisle is one of the largest I’ve ever seen for a grocery store. It’s like 2 full aisles.
They have both the mini shopping carts for babies, and these shopping carts with little buggies attached for kids. I truly appreciate this store thinking of a way to engage kids in a normally not fun activity.

Well, so much for having a Ralph’s close by bc I will not be going back. I’ll be going to a diff’t one. I went in there with my Chobani coupon’s I received directly from the company. They would not take them. I had 8 and said they could only take 1, really? Why is that. I said I had no trouble at Sprouts so she tells me we have diff’t policies then Sprouts. Well, no duh! I said I’d just buy 1 at a time and go back in line 8 times to use my coupon. By then, she annoyed me & I left!
I drove right over to Sprout’s, bought 14 things of yogurt and used my 8 coupons with no issues at all!!! Go to Sprout’s, much better service!!!

I would have given this Ralphs 5 stars. buuut, they get 2.
I will tell you why. I live four blocks from this location, and have literally been coming here on almost a daily basis for the last year and a half. I love this store, I really do, and the employees have always gone above and beyond customer service standards.
Annnnd now here’s where the ‘but’ comes in.
A few days ago a went into the store, as I do almost every night, and encountered the worst experience I have EVER had at any business. I won’t drag out this review into a novel about my horrid experience, but I will tell you I have never been treated so rudely, so disrespectfully, and get this. not only by an employee, but by a MANAGER. This manager just transferred to this location two weeks ago-​her name is Pamela. If you see her, avoid her.
I wont even go to the customer service counter for a money order if she’s there. in fact– today I even asked another employee if there was anyone else who might be able to get a money order. This employee was kind enough to go retrieve my money order for me, and its employees like this that is why I will keep shopping there. I honestly considered making the extra drive every day to never step foot in this store again. that is how bad my experience was. Remember that name– Pamela, and steer clear.

Nice surprise. I typically don’t shop at Ralphs. They are known for being quite expensive and all around lacking in cleanliness and quality. That is until I stopped into this store.
I just moved to the area and was originally quite disappointed to see that my local grocery store was Ralphs. Today I stopped in to pick up some missing items for a recipe and boy was I surprised. The store is laid out in what I will refer to upscale casual. Very similar to Whole Foods. It is very obvious that the produce department takes pride in their work. Not only is everything fresh, beautiful and clean but I saw a manager talking to one of his employees about just how to keep it looking that way.
And the olive bar! Must come back.
And the sushi bar! Yes, fresh sushi being prepared as I stroll by.
And the salad bar! Fresh, clean and inviting.
I love pleasant surprises and will definitely be back.
