Late review: Got my hair colored here in February.
Horrible experience. I had shoulder length hair I had just cut in January (super healthy). I’m a natural blonde color and my hair color was currently colored Auburn. I wanted a natural looking blonde; (think Jen Anniston). Well, at first the color wasn’t correct. Still auburn with blonde highlights! Not what I asked at all. So the stylist said to come back and she would «fix» it.
Came back in a few days, $ 200 later it was completely fried and a very copper, ugly blonde. Very disappointing. Tried contacting the stylist and she told me to «lose her number»!! Contacted the salon owner and she said she would review things with said stylist and get back to me.
Guess what?! She never did… It was literally so bad I went home and shaved my head!!! You can see in my posted photos just how much she damaged my hair and how uneven the cut I had the month prior r now was from the damage of this artist. This obviously shows I wasn’t happy. They knew of this and were still not willing to come to any type of agreement. Kelly Stephens is terrible. The owner is terrible.. AND, a separate hair stylist at the salon even personally messaged me months later telling me not to talk badly about the salon! Are you kidding me?!

I had my hair high lighted by Kelly and she did a fantastic job. She took the time to talk with me about what I wanted and what could be accomplished. She was very accommodating and attentive. The salon was nice and so were the other stylists. I will definitely be going back to A Fox w/​Kelly.

So happy with my cut and color today by Wendy. She took me in a same day appt and was quick, attentive and I love my hair. Great price $ 75 for cut and color.

Kelly did an AMAZING job on my hair this afternoon. Not only did she manage to fix my awful home dye job but she made my corrected color look fabulous! Such good work and very sweet, will definitely be returning! (:

Wen’t to dye my own hair to touch up a previous dye job, in the end it turned out a horrible mess. Went in and Ariel fixed it up. Was straight forward and honest that she wouldn’t be able to get it to the lighter shade I had wanted before everything went wrong, but still managed to add the copper tons into the dark. Color turned out great. She took the time to explain what she was doing with the colors, and even showed me the math into how she got what for which part of my hair. Shop was cute as well. Very happy.

So about a month ago I decided to go from looong (lower back length) natural dark brown hair to shoulder length (a-​line) blonde hair. It was done by a friend, however, i didnt feel like the cut was done right and she only bleached it and left me with brassy yellow gold color. I left it alone for a month and today i decided i wanted it fixed. So I called A Fox and hoped they could fit me in on a same-​day appointment and they did! I was in the salon an hour later and Valerie greeted me and listened to my story and how i wanted an ombré look instead and a better cut. She explained absolutely EVERYTHING to me until we agreed on what to do. She was genuinely friendly and made conversation that helped pass the time while also telling me what she was doing with my hair step by step. All my questions were answered and by the time i was getting hosed down, i was feelin pretty excited to see the outcome. She gave me a deep conditioning treatment and then put some argon oil in my hair, blew it out and straightened it. IM IN LOVE WITH MY HAIR! Its layered to perfection and i love how blended everything came out. I would without a doubt recommend her to anyone. Its worth every penny!

I go in to see Ms Betty to maintain my new pixie cut. She’s great, always accommodating to my schedule, reasonably
priced and talented. She has a lot of clients and when other black women compliment my hair and ask who does my hair, they usually have already heard of Ms Betty. I see her every 2 weeks :)

If I could give a –5 star rating I would!!! I moved to Joshua Tree recently and found myself in need a trim. I researched salons in the area and A Fox popped up with high rating on Unilocal.So, I booked an appointment. Unfortunately, I got Wendi. I am sure there are better hair dressers in the salon but I got Wendi. Let me give you some information about my hair… It’s long, mostly all one length except I have long bangs. All I needed was a trim, sounds easy right? Well, apparently not. My hair was butchered, bangs choppy and I think she tried to give me layers? i can’t be sure what she was trying to do but whatever it was it was awful. This experience has tainted the way I feel about hair dressers in 29, JT and YV in general. I wont go to any of them. I know it’s irrational but I was traumatized.

As a military spouse, it’s always daunting to move to a new area and find a new hair stylist. I went to Wendi Davis at A Fox on a recommendation from another military spouse and I am so glad I did. Wendi is amazing! I loved the way she cut my hair and when I decided to do an all over color with highlights (to fend off the premature grey hair — thanks mom — that was coming in at a rapid pace) Wendi got the color perfect! Wendi has very affordable prices and is very flexible with her schedule — early mornings and/​or evenings could be accommodated if needed.
If you are a recent transplant to Twentynine Palms (thanks USMC) I totally recommend calling Wendi — you won’t be sorry! I’ve recently relocated to San Diego and if I can’t find someone I like down here I’m totally going to make the drive (2.5 hours) back up to 29 (I’ve already done it once before the MC Ball…)

I had an appointment today with Valerie and I’m so happy! She did a wonderful job on my hair. She was sweet and polite and got the perfect idea of what I wanted. I have long curly hair so it’s not often I find people I like. The shop was adorable too.

I was referred to go here with the stylist Valerie. She was an awesome person with amazing talent. She took my hair from a medium brown color and played it up with colorful blonde and caramel highlights. My hair turns brassy very fast, but she made sure to take extra care of it. She spent extra time making sure my colors were right. Then, she chopped off more than 7 inches and styled it with amazing technique. I recommend her x10 and will be going to her for all my hair needs. Thank-​you, Valerie! :)

I’m surprised at how much I enjoyed my experience here. I am 22 and have a very hard time trusting people with my hair — I have been traveling to SoCal since I moved up here to get my hair done until now. I went in for a hair cut– not just a trim– and made my appointment with Valerie. She knew exactly the type of hair style I wanted, I didn’t even have to explain it much, and she cut it to perfection. I am SO satisfied!!! I just wish I would have given this place a chance two years ago.
Ask for Valerie– she is up to date and knowledgable with modern styles, cuts, and coloring– you can tell from her own hair and hair stories. She satisfied me completely. She was EXTREMELY decently priced, as well. $ 35 for my hair cut and I have long, very very thick hair.
I will definitely be returning to Valerie!

Valerie has cut my hair twice and both times it’s been a big change (8+ inches that I wanted gone.) She is so friendly and talented, not to mention detail oriented and patient. I would recommend her to anyone. Prices are very reasonable and the salon is fine for kids teens and adults.

Making you look good! I have been going to Kathy now for almost 20 years. I now live in San Diego and when I visit Yucca Valley once a month I have to stop and have my hair done. All the Stylist has been there for some time and all ways warm and inviting. The atmosphere is fun and playful. Keep up the great work guys!

The shop is beautiful. The staff are super nice and they are absolutely the best. Beats «El Paseo» and price is fair. Amazing Wonderful Place (also a showcase of museum quality handmade/​hand-​fired Indian ollas that are for sale)

Kathy there at A Fox has been my hair dresser for 6 years and I wouldn’t let anyone else near my hair. She’s GREAT!
