AOK Watersports

Our paddle boarding excursion was great. The tide and current weren’t quite in our favor but Jessie helped make the most of it and we had a great time!

My family and I decided that paddle boarding seemed like the perfect on-​vacation activity since none of us have done it before. We found AOK Watersports online and called them instantly. Unfortunately, we got a recording and had to leave a message, as it instructed to do so. After not hearing back from them, we called a total of 4 more times (spread out) and finally got a call back, in which we missed. Minutes after we missed the call, we called back and got the same voicemail message. We then tried 4 more times and never got a call back. Yup, that’s a total of 10 phone calls. Does this place even exist or do they just have horrible customer service skills? Either way, they need to figure it out because they’ll get no business this way.

Great bunch of guys and super friendly. We had rented paddle boards before on Tybee but will us AOK from now on. The guy who dropped off our boards gave us some tips that we hadn’t heard before.
Not sure why someone on here said they didn’t deliver, they dropped off our boards and picked them up for no charge.

I took the basics paddleboard class (which is worth every penny… knowledge is power people). We had strong winds (around 20 mph according to Charlie) and although it made paddling a challenge we had a great instructor to show us the ropes. I feel that the time spent on shore going over basics and the time on the water practicing gave a great over view to SUP. The shop has some great products for sale. I would (and will) recommend this place to anyone.

Very professional. Great with our kids. Really made the experience memorable. Would highly recommend them to vacationers on tybee island.

SUPER friendly and courteous, The owner also gave a crash course in paddleboarding and strapped them to our car for us. Would recommend this place to all.

I bought a groupon here knowing that we were coming to Savannah, and I’ve always wanted to go paddleboarding. Once we got there though, John, the guy there couldn’t find our reservation, and it took awhile for us to get us all set up. It also looked like the couple that came in afterwards had a reservation mixup as well…
Anyways, it was really cool that he gave us a crash course to paddleboarding (which was fun and easy). But he asked us how we were going to transport the paddleboards… uh…we have a car? A small car. I didn’t realize how difficult it was going to be to lug this thing all the way to the Backriver. We decided to rent $ 5 walkers for these things so we can walk them to the beach. It would definitely be easier if they had them all set at the beach so transporting wouldn’t be an issue.
Looking for where the perfect spot was tough, but once we got started it was fun. Yet, when we realized that getting back to our spot was going to be difficult. The current was getting strong so we just stopped and i ran to get the wheels and our stuff. Putting them back on was a little hard too. As long as you have all the straps tight its all good. All in all, it took more time to get there, put the wheels on, and go back, then to actually paddleboard :(I wish we knew ahead of time so we could’ve been prepared.
