Very good quality food with casual atmosphere. There was a mistake on our order, and Steven and the kitchen had my new meal prepped very fast. See many screenshots of food. Nothing seemed made from frozen, all from scratch. Patio area looks like it would be great for private parties. It could have used background music. There is a HUGE private collection of rifles and pistols on display, with a comfy sitting area with leather couches in the bar-room area to shoot the breeze with the owner Sam about the antiques. He’ll tell you the story behind every one! If you are the kind of guy or gal who is a firearm enthusiast, you must come here!!!

This is where I take out of town guests to show how Texican it can get around here. The food and service always are perfect.

Excellent. I was in town for business and looked on the Internet to find a decent place to eat. I saw the theme of the restaurant and said I have to try it. Staff was awesome, I ordered the venison and it was probably the best I have had. Sam the owner came by to make sure all was good and taught me a little bit about his gun collection. He even let me taste some brisket he just pulled off the smoker. If you are looking for good food and a great atmosphere I recommend you try this place.

Great dinner with visiting relatives tonight — first time on the patio, which was really pleasant. Excellent service, delicious food delivered promptly, and some really fun conversations with both our server and Coyote Sam. We had the Tumbleweed fried onions for appetizer, green salads, and entrees were 1) Gulf scallops(delicious), 2) chicken fried venison(very good, mild venison flavor — not gamey), 3) fried shrimp(enormous and delicious!) and 4) quail stuffed avocados(delicious). Peach cobbler for dessert — very good. Relatives loved it and can’t wait to go back. Our third time there, and the best time so far — we’ll be back. Thanks, Sam!

What a great experience. Our server was so enjoyable and the menu was a treat. I had the stuffed avocados and it was excellent. The restaurant itself is the home of a museum quality collection of guns and artwork. Don’t miss this.

Our family went for dinner and the food was fantastic. The wait staff was sociable, polite and attentive. The décor is great — reminds me of an upscale hunting lodge. Environment is excellent for a lot of conversation laughing and easily/comfortably accommodates large parties. I highly recommend!

We love Coyote Sams! We drive two hours from Fort Worth just to eat there. I love the venison chile. The grilled asparagus is great, as is the venison tenderloin, duck and barbecue. Funny, engaging staff. Always a treat!

The outside patio is really nice to look at but the tables are usually filthy. The service is mediocre and the food is overpriced and bland. There are better options out there for sure.

First time to dine here. Great drive up appeal. Our wild game two-step appetizer was delicious(quail, fig, bacon and jalapeño stuffed with cream cheese and bacon). We had 2 entrees. The beef in the prime rib wrap was tender, but the scallops in the other entrée were terrible! We couldn’t finish it because they had soaked the scallops in salt water(I guess to preserve them?). Yuck! We chose banana crème brûlée for dessert and it was reminiscent of baby food, but kind of good in a strange way. A side note, the signature mango iced tea was $ 4.50(no refills) ant was not real special, just mango juice mixed with tea.

I have been to this restaurant several times and have sampled their menu in just about every category they offer. I’m not a novice to restaurants in different cities, having lived in Houston, Austin, Dallas, Galveston and Tyler each for several years. The food is very high quality and very well prepared. Taking nothing away from Franklin’s in Austin, Stanley’s in Tyler, or the Tavern in Kilgore, the ribs at Coyote Sam’s are the very best I’ve ever had. And this is not just a one-time occasion. I like to try the many new restaurants in Tyler, but if I’m not in the mood to experiment and want to go where I KNOW it’s always good, I go to CS.

Appearance of the place: amazing. Great decorations(unless taxidermy freaks you out) and very clean. The food was delicious. Had fried pickles, venison chili, and avocado stuffed with quail. I wish I had left room for desert. If the sweets are as good as the entrées, I would have gained ten pounds that night. Good sweet tea, good service. I’d love to go again.

Out of maybe 4 tables occupied in the whole place, we still ran out of drinks, there were hairs on 2 of the 3 main plates of food, junk from the soft drink dispenser in one of the drinks, the sweet potato fries were cold when they brought the food out, and the steak was literally the the worst steak I’ve had at any place I’ve been to. The waitress was barely seen, and when she was there she was short with us and not friendly. I had to apologize to my friends for bringing them to such a terrible place. $ 28 for a filet mignon, trust me you don’t know what a filet mignon even is. This was my first and last time I will go here. I asked if the bartender was any good, the waitress flat told me the bartender sucks and can’t make a good drink. So instead of getting a pricy mixed drink I decided on a beer. They bring out a short glass, so I ask if they have any tall beers, she said«no we broke them all» and walks off. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover, this place looks nice and you pay for it, but you can get the same quality food at Ryan’s or Luby’s.

Our local friends took us here and the 5 stars is for the bread pudding! I ordered it for my husband but ended up eating 99% of it. I don’t usually love bread pudding but it was amazing! #musthavedessert They also had great service. My cup never went less than ½ full. Thanks Hannah and Kenny for taking us here!

Stopped in after a long day of travel. At first glance it just seemed to be another typical meat and potatoes place, but I was wrong. The menu has something for everyone including a bit of the unexpected on it’s wild game section. The stuffed avocados were amazing and the jalapeño gravy on the venison was to die for. The service was fantastic and Sam himself greeted us with a smile and taste of his brisket. I definitely recommend stopping in!

I’ve been meaning to stop in here for months now, as I think Coyote Sam’s has tons of curb appeal. From the moment you walk in, its blatantly apparent that the owner, or partnership group, spared no expense in the build out of this restaurant /bar. Just the fixtures alone, are well north of six figures. So, my guess is that the owner(s) have some serious credit lines, or just some deep pockets, which in simple terms, means that they posses east Texas, Fuck You money! Now, since all of my fellow Unilocalers have a visual of the insane amount of money thrown at Coyote Sam’s, let’s discuss what matters most: 1) Service 2) Food & beverage 3) Pricing For starters, the young Hostess was a snobby little, conversation control freak, that succeeded at making the entryway similar to a Gestapo. We were flagged down, as we told her we were just going to grab a seat at the bar. She retorts, Well, the BAAAARISFUUULLL! Ok, my apologies, I responded back. Then, she walks back there, comes back to the Hostess stand, and says, «Well, there’s two seats on the end.» Ok, fine, we’ll take these, I said. When being escorted back, the bar was half empty. In fact, there were tables, and at least 6 – 8 seats available. Far from full. I guess she was prepping to become the next Nancy Pelosi. Feeling ever so grateful to make it past security, and into the bar, the wife and I started to look at what’s important: yes, the drinks. The beer on tap was limited, as were the bottles. The liquor. Just as disappointing. Listen, I’ve owned a bar, and Coyote Sam’s appears(by the somewhat empty shelves) that they might be near closing. Or, the Manager that orders liquor is an inept moron. Who knows… I opted for a Ziggenbock, since their liquor selection sucked. The wife went with a Miller Lite. When the bartender brought my wife her Miller Lite, the colorful(in attire-not personality) bartender whispered that she was getting a large draft, because they didn’t have any clean mugs. Then, we noticed everyone was getting beer in plastic cups from this point on. Seriously, at 7:30 on a Saturday night, you don’t have clean mugs, or glasses? I was waiting to see Jon Taffer come in screaming, and do a Bar Rescue. Unfortunately, Taffer never appeared. Since we were in what appeared to be a fraternity kegger, I was skeptical to order food, but the menu was enticing, and we went with the following: –Sam’s Famous Pulled Pork –Prime Rib Wrap The wife said the pulled pork was bland. I tried it, and had to concur. My prime rib wrap that I ordered medium rare, came out well done. Just like my wife’s order, mine was bland as well. The prices. Yep, you have to pay for the extensive build out, so take the over on this. Service. Average at best. Food. Also average. Don’t bet on a return, and this is unfortunate, as I really wanted to like this place.

Sams has been going down, down, down. Visited for Sunday brunch and was informed that they«ran out» of mimosas. How do you run out of champagne at 11:15 in the morning? Protip: Send somebody to the grocery store. A friend ordered the ribs. They were grey, and dry as a popcorn fart. It was obvious they were yesterday’s ribs. I ordered the«Kobe» burger. I suppose Kobe suddenly means burnt hockey puck, despite me asking them NOT to cook it to hell. I also sampled the brisket. Horrible like bubble gum. Somebody needs to step in a rescue this kitchen.

The food is terrific here. Ribs are definitely the falling off the bone kind and the potato salad is the best I’ve ever had and just different enough. We sat in the bar and it was fun looking at the décor on the walls. The staff was friendly and one staff member looked enough like Reese Whitherspoon to make me wonder if it wasn’t Reese! I’ve been here twice and it is still my favorite place for ribs. Definitely will be back.

Coyote Sam’s is tasty eatin’. I love that they have salmon on the menu and it’s always done just right – quite the rarity in Texas. The mango sauce that comes on it is awesome. The venison sausage that they put in some of their dishes is one of my favorite things in Tyler. It’s got a nice spice to it and a hint of gameyness – in a good way. The queso with venison is thoroughly divine. Also tasty? The kobe burgers. I’m not a huge burger fan, but these won me over. It’s quite cozy inside and the walls are covered in the various«trophies» of the owner’s hunting trips. Service is usually attentive, although I think they take a random break in the afternoon where they’re not really serving people for lunch or dinner. I moved away and I really miss that venison queso!
