Service was ok super expensive for kids though! We asked for a side order of fries rice so our 4 kids could share and they charged us for each kid and double rice

Facebook and signs outside the restaurant indicate bar is open until 1am on Saturdays but bartender refused service and shut down at 11pm. Terrible.

For starters I’m surprised Yamato has 4 stars… I’ve been twice. The hibachi is pretty decent but if you’re going to grab a table don’t waste your time. Fried rice is a joke. Teriyaki beef tastes like something out of a jar. This may seem trivial but they must wash their own linen. Not everyone can handle the smell of tide and snuggles fabric softener everyone they wipe their mouth. Step up and use a linen service. Linens should not have a scent.

Mehh… I really do not like leaving neg reviews. But for this establishment I am going to. Everyone working there came off rude. The service were nothing short of amateur. We sat down and ordered sushi and our dinner. After about 15 minutes the waitress brought the entire meal all at once. Nice! Do not assume you will get what you pay for here.

This is by far the very best Japanese restaurant in the Tyler Texas area. the restaurant features a Japanese steakhouse with great chefshifts as well as fantastic sushi and sashimi. Prices and service are great. The atmosphere is great to!

Lovely restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Kid friendly for the most part and clean bathrooms. The food was delicious and beautifully presented as well as decently portioned. Well priced sushi. Only issue i had was my waitress. She ignored me several times and passed right by me when i was getting her attention to clear plates and was not tentative in the least. She gave me a broken tea cup that i almost cut my mouth on and leaked everywhere on my table, which also took her 10 minutes to return with a replacement.(It was early and not busy I would like to add.) She was matched with a 30 $ tip but lost 15 $ of it due to her poor service. I will come back again with hopes of better services.

Food was good. I ordered a Philly Roll and Texas Roll. Wife is gluten-free so it makes going out difficult at times, but the waitress was understanding and showed us how she could order a steak and sides as «a la carte» and spend less money. We came during non-peak hours, so it was pretty quiet. Staff was friendly and attentive. Steak was cooked med-well, was cooked perfectly! Meat was very tender, exactly what my wife asked for. Veggies were were good. Both of my rolls were very good. The Philly was comparable to a any other restaurant, very basic simple roll, a good staple. The Texas Roll was a good mix of sushi meets East Texas. Flavored meshed well and it had a nice crunch! We will definitely keep this in mind for future visits to Tyler!

This is the place! Not a bad meal on the menu! If you want sushi, this is the only place in Tyler to spend your money.

Love this place. We have eaten Sushi from Oregon to Florida. Finally found our new favorite sushi place here in Texas. Great service, good atmosphere and perfect nigiri sushi and sashimi. Mike was our waiter and he was very helpful and attentive waiter. Will be back monthly at least. Get the boat for 2 lots to eat.

This is one of the better sushi restaurants that I’ve tried. My favorite is the salmon set, yummo! Comes with a salmon roll, 4 pcs of nigiri, and 2 pcs of sashimi(huge pcs). Also ordered the manhattan roll, which consisted of shrimp tempura, spicy crab meat, avocado, topped with pepper tuna and sliced jalapeños. Then drizzled with eel sauce, spicy mayo and sriracha. The presentation was beautiful! Rock n roll was the last roll we ordered. It has shrimp tempura, fried jalapeños, spicy tuna, topped with peppercorn tuna, avocado, eel sauce, spicy mayo and masago. The service was ok, out waiter wasn’t very knowledgable. We asked about happy hour and he didn’t have a clue. He offered to find out but never did so we got up to find out ourselves. It’s in the bar only fyi. He refilled our drinks and paid attention, so good enough! I will be back for the salmon set!

Love this place! We almost always sit at the sushi bar when we come here, but even when we haven’t, the guys always remember what we like! Beautiful cuts of sashimi, beautiful sushi rolls! These guys really take pride in every work of art that leaves their hands! High quality ingredients. Always well done! Definitely competes with places in Dallas and surrounding areas. AND not out of sight on the price! Wait staff is awesome!

I love hibachi so I had high expectations for this place when family I was visiting for the holidays decided on this place for dinner. The service was good, not outstanding. The food was okay, nothing to write home about. The sauces weren’t that great. The margarita was from a mix and you could definitely tell — there was very little if any tequila in it. The chef stated he had been working there for almost a year but made a lot of mistakes when doing tricks while cooking. Overall the service and food was just okay.

5 stars for Tyler, TX! I travel to Tyler for work frequently, and this place satisfies my sushi craving every time. Their salmon nigiri is the best, so fresh and thick slices of fish… Same goes with their sashimi. They have lots of rolls to choose from and if you don’t see one you like ask if they can customize one for you. They always make a spicy scallop hand roll for me, when I request it!

We eat at Yamato about once per month. It’s always just perfect. How do you manage to serve perfect sashimi when you’re located in Tyler, TX? I have no idea, but Yamato does it. Favorites are the jalapeño apps, the fried rice, the ribeye steak, and of course the sushi.

I came in here last weekend, and opted to sit in the bar. Shocking, I know. For my light lunch, I ordered the following: Tuna sashimi Salmon sashimi Philly roll Red Dragon roll, & a Yamato House roll Oh, and to wash it down, we had some house sake. The sake was pretty bad, but this is my fault, as I ordered«house.» I’m usually not so white trash. The sushi itself was extremely fresh, so kudos to Yamato for that! The quality on the other hand, was only above average. Decent service, average prices(but, they do have $ 10 off $ 50 coupons), fresh, but average quality, fish, so I guess this place is A-OK. I’d return, but I’m not in a big hurry.
