****Bangles… Beads… Bolts… Bargains**** I’ve been a fan of Beverly’s since I searched out my 1st one in San Diego [ which personally I think is better stocked, more interesting, and with more bargains and staff help — and a candy jar at the checkout!!– than our local one here.] But hey, we’re not in SD anymore & I really like that we have one here in town. It competes with Michael’s for the crafts-crowd, but the stores have different clientele & ambience, and fulfill different needs. I went into Bev’s the other day– just rummaging around for maybe a Thanksgiving décor item[ like those funky wax pilgrims or turkeys ] or candles or fun thing for my grandson for the holiday coming up. Not really to MAKE anything. And I was lucky– candle tapers & pillars for 40% off… I need to go back because I need more! And for nostalgia sake, they had the old fashioned glitter cloth tree skirts I remember as a kid! I found some nice natural grasses in a bunch for a good price. So all in all, I did pretty well. I had hoped to find a kit or something for a Santa pillow or doll for Darren, but no luck there. I want it easy, cheap & fun. so have to look around more. But this is a fun place… if you are crafty or not. They have a selection of stuffed animal toys, and they had a lot of stuff for Halloween. The staff is helpful and friendly, sometimes short staffed, but I like ringing the little olé’ bell on the counter to let them know I’m here! I’m only deducting a star because parking is awkward [ I’m glad they have a lot though]– I prefer parking at the curb on the street. And I wish they had better bargain bins. But for Ukiah, I’m happy it’s here.
