Good food and a lot of vegetarian options but the five girls working behind the counter with food in their mouths and playing with the take away food containers as bras was alittle weird. Nobody has swept or cleaned. The only one working really hard was the girl at the register with shorter brown hair in a ponytail. But I guess that’s what you get with 5 girls under 25 working behind the counter. Laid back place, love the wood and color of interior.

The food is so good. I really love the chicken and brown rice, the California omelette, and the avocado salad. The reason for 3 stars is the service. All the girls are rude. Sometimes I avoid this spot just because I don’t want to be bothered by rude people. It’s always been this way.

Since my last review, my job has brought in Ellie’s several times. Ironically, they have ordered the exact item I ordered months ago. I must say, it was completely different and quite tasty. They also ordered a salad with fruit, cheese and a delicious dressing. I will definitely give the Mutt Hut another chance on my own!

Hmmm… i am a frequent customer here. I will start by saying again, the food always good. However, their customer service has really begun to plummet. The young lady taking orders this past saturday was very unwelcoming. No smile, no what can i get for you today, just stared at me blankly. When i told her, to please make sure there is no bell peppers bc im allergic, she rolled her eyes. It took over 30 mins to get a salad, 2 soups ans a hot dog. It was NOT busy at all compared to most days and times. My chicken and avocado salad came with no avocado, which another sweet young women got for me right away. I wish they would of gaven us our soups before our meals as well. It just seems like there is far too many girls working at one time, no communication about who is doing what and bad attitudes to accompany it. However, i love their food so its worth it.

I hate to see some of these one-star reviews on here because I’ve eaten here a bunch and have loved every… last…bite: every… single…time! You’ve got to give this place a try and if ya do, get the barbecued chicken salad! Good lord it’s good and the young people they’ve employed are always super nice and ready to serve with smiles on their faces even when it’s packed wall-to-wall, which it usually is. Hey, we can’t ALL be wrong!!!

So my mom and I went here a long time back with my daughter. I can’t remember the details but I do remember thinking I’d never go back and it was bad. Fast forward a bunch of years… we were up in Ukiah this past week and thought we’d give it another try. My mom loves veg food so I was game to give them a second try. We stopped for lunch and the place was pretty busy. All the wait staff seems to be under 20. A young lady started helping me, I was trying to ask if rice came with $ 10 burrito. She seemed confused and had to look at a menu. She didn’t have the best attitude. Then some very young guy came up and she said he was going to take my order. I again asked about the rice. Oh yeah it has rice, Ok great. Then he tried to run my cc and couldn’t seem to get it to work. I had just used it so knew it was working just fine. Ended up just paying cash. Service was a bit slow but didn’t matter much since we weren’t in any big hurry. Burrito finally comes and it’s cold, as in the cheese wasn’t even melted and the beans lukewarm at best. I asked them to toss it in microwave for a bit. More waiting. I have to note at this point there was a very competent redhead helping me. She seemed to be the only one in the place that knew what to do and what customer service might look like. Finally sit back down and start eating. And there is no rice in my $ 10 burrito. So for that much money all I got was some funky chicken that tasted precooked, refried beans and a handful of cheese. Maybe I’m spoiled living in Sonoma County– the food may be pricey but at least it’s good and fresh. Meanwhile my mom had ordered the baked potato cover with veggies. At first it seemed ok… but then it too was stone cold. She said one of the veggies tasted bad, like Lysol. Maybe that had something to do with the bathroom being right off the kitchen. She said it was one of the worst baked potatoes she’d ever eaten. I took my burrito back up to the counter. At this point I was just done. The same very nice redhead offered to make me a new one. No, just wrap that one and maybe throw a little rice in the to go box. More waiting. Finally got it back. When we got home I saw that the nice waitress had given us a free cookie, least someone is trying hard. She had also put a side of rice in the bag. I make brown rice a lot so was hoping this would be redeeming but no. It was nasty and went in the chicken scrap compost bucket. Unfortunately, we just won’t ever eat here again. Can’t believe all the good reviews I just don’t see it. Hope that nice waitress finds a place to work that will be worth her hard work and can do attitude.

I love coming here! Their chicken and rice dish and the cornbread are some of my favorites. Service is friendly. Great for a pleasant sit down meal or call in ahead for to-go. Yum! Must also try the bbq chicken wrap it’s to die for. It’s also a staff favorite for all my coworkers. Mmmm

Good choices. I had a small cup of black bean chili. Came with side of tortilla chips. It was deelish & nicely mildly spiced(i prefer mild) Not a lot for a $ 6 dinner, but their lunch prices r much better. The espresso is very good but would like to see more than white sugar & artificial sweetener for choices. How about raw sugar, honey with a shaker of cinnamon & or chocolate powder? Espresso $ 2.75 nite, $ 2.05 lunch. Service was decent from cute, young new servers. However only one had tried the bb chili, and no one had tried the frijoles & rice(that i had actually ordered not realizing«black beans» & frijoles are not the same thing lol.) Silly me, a newbie here, had a little order mixup, in retrospect it would have been better if waitress was more proactive in letting this ignorant lady the difference between their chili. & frijoles dishes, but i have no complaints about the taste! The bb chili was fabulous for a mild chili lover like me!

The red bell pepper and feta wrap sounds amazing but is essentially a salad wrapped in a tortilla. It could be better done as a smaller burrito with quinoa and/or hummus. The size of the burrito is excessive and unnecessary. Their Super Potato also comes with cheap bacon bits and not real bacon as the menu states. It’s a pricier meal with low quality ingredients.

This is a must stop restaurant when in Ukiah. My favorite salads are made here. Actually everything on this menu is delicious! Chicken Avocado Salad is my favorite!

I have to say this lunch was one of the best I have had in a while from a diner style restaurant. The BBQ chicken wrap was super tasty with fresh ingredients, moist chicken, and oh so saucy. I also ordered the butternut squash soup which turned out to be so amazing I ordered 1 to take home too. The soup is sweet and had a nice thick texture with carrots and some sort of herb in it, KILLER! The service wasn’t bad but not 5 star worthy. I will definitely come back.

Undoubtedly the best veggie wrap I’ve ever had. There must have been nearly an entire avocado and a fantastic assortment of other vegetables that created a taste explosion in my mouth. I chose the poppy seed dressing which really made it fantastic. My mom had a cheeseburger that was giant and fantastic and my son had the vegan Reuben sandwich which also looks great. I recommend stopping here if you get the chance

My experience was less than perfect. I got a tofu dog and the tofu was big slaps of barely heated tofu. The veggies dog was good other than tofu. I found the tofu barely tolerable.

Stopped in for brunch last week with a friend. We are both vegan and figured since they have«vegetarian» in the name they’d be able to accommodate us. Boy, were we wrong! The waiter looked at us like we were crazy and didn’t seem familiar with the concept. Just to be clear, Ukiah has a HUGE vegan population and at least 2 fully vegan restaurants. This is a market here. We explained what that was and asked about a few menu items. Apparently their tahini sauce that comes on veggie items contains some animal products and they grill everything in butter. Basically, besides a dry salad there was nothing we could have. Big disappointment. We ended up going to the co-op and making our own brunch. As an aside, reading through the reviews here– the comments back to reviews from the manager are scary! Why wouldn’t a local business want to do better, and appreciate honest feedback? So happy that I didn’t ask for a manager!

Yes The service is a little slow for lunch break. Plan ahead! I usually get the Avo tofu salad. It is really good! Love their Italian dressing. Today I got the barbecue tofu wrap with feta and Italian dressing instead of ranch. It is very good!

Johnny Cakess oh Johnny Cakes! Where art thou?! Why, in Ukiah, milady! Yes, I tried the Mutt Hut for the very first time while visiting my Ukiah’s hometown. Every time he visits, he always mentions this eatery… so here we are. At first glance, it’s not much. The wait may have been long due to Sunday foot traffic but I think we made it just in time before Sunday service was out. We sat ourselves down at the corner table and people watched. A cute hostess came to our table immediately and we ordered(we knew exactly what we wanted because, well, for two years, this is ALL he’s ever talked about). I got the Honey Mocha to start and he ordered his usual bland coffee. Blahhhh! She leaves and we were greeted by the owner, Dani. She knows him really well, and he seemed to be a local celebrity which is funny to me. We did small talks here and there and our hostess /server is back with our drinks! Yummmmy! Who would have thought to drizzle honey over whipped cream? Hey, I was fine with it. The more sweet condiments the merrier for me! Our order consisted of Chicken Maple Sausage, Half Order of Biscuits and Gravy, California Omelette and their famous Johnny Cakes. My overall experience at Ellie’s is as follows, hence the five stars: no long wait, seated as soon as we walked in, greeted within two minutes of us sitting down, order was fast and very friendly. If and when you visit Ukiah, stop by this amazing family restaurant and try their Johnny Cakes!

I’m so glad I found this place! It was satisfying and delicious! Be prepared to wait but the food is fresh and well worth it. The employes are very friendly and helpful. It’s always very busy and it seems to be quite a popular place to eat. I can’t wait to eat here again.

Seriously the worst service I’ve ever had. Ordered a chicken salad wrap and they gave me just a chicken salad went back with my friend and they didn’t even apologize. Seriously terrible. And when we got home my friends salad came with no little butter chips! Asked for no onions and got onions in it as well.

Where to start… the service is horrible more often than not the patron is left to buss the previous parties table. The vegetables are often soggy and seem to be compromised in some way. The overall experience is horrible and I would not recommend it! On another note most of the staff is rude and condescending as well as confrontational. Not to mention they treat their staff especially the ones in the back with little to do dignity. And No it wasn’t that busy just all the self Righteous«pretty» girls who think they’re too good for their job as you keep the hardworking Mexican people in back to do the bitch work. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve ordered something and the vegetables had some kind of compromise(brown spots) almost as if you were trying to penny pinch and lost sight of quality control!
