Love Baldie’s. Great classic breakfast, large menu, and kind service. Not as crowded as some of the other local breakfast spots on the weekend, and I think it’s better than all of them.

Absolutely enjoyed this place, has a very nice diner feel and the portions are well worth your money! They do get a bit busy(since their food is so good!!) so the waiters can get a bit sidetracked and forget about the little things but I get it. Nothing too bad. But this is def my new go to breakfast spot :) Got the bacon, avocado, mushroom omelette… Super delicious!

I have eaten here two times so far. The service is excellent, my coffee mug was never empty the waitress was polite and the food is great. When you compare Baldies to Denny’s or IHOP it’s like comparing day and night.

I ordered the mushroom and cheese omelette. Lots of mushrooms which was great! I thought the cheese would be incorporated into the batter, but it was sprinkled on top which made for a cheesy layer. I got hash browns on the side, and they looked great but tasted bland. Not enough salt or pepper. The wheat toast was very typical toast. But it came already buttered which was nice! Overall, the food wasn’t incredibly flavorful but the service was really fast!

It’s a standard diner with our typical diner fare and massive portions of it. I can’t say it’s spectacular but it has a pretty hardcore fan base. People seriously love this spot! They do have some Greek items on the menu and other non-dinery things, like lemon chicken soup, chicken piccata, and moussaka. There are also weekend specials and it’s almost always packed. The service is super friendly and they really make you feel at home, which is also really nice.

I love breakfast food so this place a standard place to dine in. Customer service wasn’t too great… We came in and the servers were literally just talking to each other and didn’t even acknowledge that we were waiting… It took them a few minutes to seat us down. It was unprofessional and annoyed us. Anyways, the food was definitely your typical breakfast food place. Of course wayyyy better than Denny’s. It took a long time for our food to come out, and it was frustrating that it wasn’t even crowded. So why would it take so long to make eggs and sausages. Overall, I will probably come back because it’s close by.

Food was kind of bland, no seasonings whatsoever. Service was okay, waitress did forget our side orders upon bringing out the food. Prices were kind of high compared to other breakfast places. I would rather go to IHOP next time.

My friend brought us here because his parents go here all the time. It has an elderly feel to it as their is a lot of elderly people when I come in. But it’s not stopping me from eating their Delicious country fried steak

This place is literally one of the best breakfast, lunch and dinner places you can go to in Union City! Literally everything I have tried is delicious. I usually come on Wednesdays and Fridays for their Crab & Shrimp sandwich. Literally the best crab sandwich I’ve ever had, better than San Fransisco.

I Confess to a Baldies addiction! The Minestrone, Lemon Chicken soup, Greek baked Chicken, the Greek Salad dressing, Rib Eye, Corned Beef, Moussaka, Waffles, …Over the past 23 years I have tried just about everything. Believe me I am always satisfied. This is yummy food without bells and whistles — It’s eating at Moms — not fusion or hip or trendy, just damn good. No need to put a fancy garnish on what is already mouthwatering and served with a smile. Not for foodies necessarily, just for hungry folks who crave comfort food. This family owned and operated gem is my go to place whenever I am in CA — and it always will be! They greet most guests by name and some servers can recite what their patrons want as soon as they walk in the door. We need a Baldie’s in Hawaii!

This review is 3.5. People love it here. It’s an old school diner and the food is ok. I don’t get the fanfare. The food is pretty good and I remember the service being attentive. If you’re looking for traditional diner meals, this is for you. Came here for brunch with friends awhile ago. I can’t remember what I had now. The portions were large. There were leftovers for sure. I remember enjoying my meal for the most part but it a wasn’t a memorable meal. I’d come again if others wanted to go here but I’m not sure I’d go out of my way to eat here. No reflection on the establishment, just personal choice.

First time going was about 5 years ago. A great comfortable diner to take the family to for every day type food. Large portions, a great breakfast spot. The owners and workers care about the restaurant which is usually the case with family owned operations. The employees also have lower turnover which makes getting to know them over the years possible and it adds to the enjoyment. Similar food to Elios in San Leandro.

Love the $ 20 prime rib on Friday and Saturday nights. I’d say the quality is comparable to Texas roadhouse’s prime rib, but way cheaper.

Baldies is a true staple to the area. The food is always delicious and comes hearty. There proportions are out of this world. They go beyond normal when it’s comes to proportions and there food is tasty as well. The only downfall is seating. On weekends, like today, Sunday, the wait is long. However, the counter tops are always open so if you have a small party(say two) id advise to skip the wait list and sit at the counter tops. My go to dish is the biscuits and gravy! Like I said before, the proportions of this dish is grande. Lots of gravy sauce too which makes this dish my favorite. The biscuits and gravy comes with choice of bacon or sausage, eggs, and hash browns. This is by far the best biscuits and gravy I’ve had around the area and pretty much the Bay Area. They keep it simple and that’s key. Lastly, the service is speedy and accommodating. The waiters are constantly moving and working. The don’t fail to let the customers down and they also adhere to the customers with often conversation. Baldies is definitely a friendly and family style breakfast spot!

Or first time here … We started our with some fried zucchini and we’re amazed at the size of the plate the gave us, we couldn’t finish it. Dinner arrived quickly and we loved it, her prime rib was cooked perfectly. My pastrami sandwich was awesome. The service was quick, and the kept out glasses refilled. We wound up taking three boxes home with the left overs alone. Excellent food at very reasonable prices. Definitely going to be a favorite place to eat. love the fact we are supporting a local small business.

I absolutely love it ve the spaghetti. The first time I admit it was a bit spicy but subsequent visits(three) it is milder snd oh so thick and meaty. How i wish a copycat recipe was available so I could make it for office potlucks.

My husband brought me here for breakfast. This is a cute little place located in a small shopping area. The service is great! We were seated immediately. The severs were very attentive and friendly. Our order didn’t take long and we enjoyed our food. I would recommend this place to someone looking to have breakfast in a very homey and cozy place.

I came to this diner because of my neighbor’s recommendation. She loves this place, and she also told me some stories about the owner and the staves. I visited this place during the Sunday lunch time. There were a lot of people waited outside the restaurant. I waited about 20 minutes. During my waiting, two return customers came and left. I heard them talked: «it is not that good. Doesn’t worth waiting.» Finally, it’s my turn to sit down. It took more than 10 minutes to have someone ordered my coffee. And it took even longer to have my food ready. I could see that all the staves were extremely busy, and some of them looked tired. About my food, NY steak and eggs, $ 13.95. It was a good steak but a little bit pity that it was over cooked. And they forget the toast. I was not able to talk to my waitress, she’s too busy. Strawberry waffle $ 9.25. It was good for the first 3 minutes. After that, the waffle was soaked in the melt cream and became too soft. Not recommend. I think I won’t come back in the busy hours, at least not on the weekends. Hope next time I can enjoy some delicious dishes that my neighbor told me.

I have to say that this is THE best place for as close as a home-cooked meals as it gets. Service is awesome. The people there are so friendly, providing a family-like atmosphere. And Pete always makes you feel welcomed anytime you wander in there. He sets the bar for good customer care :) The place is always packed — A sure-fire way of knowing that good food is served & great customer care provided ;) The food is incredible and you can even call in for take-out ahead of time. The servings are enormous that I can’t ever finish them,(I most definitely take home the leftovers. too yummy to waste). I have favorite dishes there — The cheese burger is to die for. The Patty Melt never disappoints in its packed flavor. Chicken Fried Steak is always my breakfast favorite. And their Friday special of Clam Chowder. YUM! Their chowder ties to what’s served in Monterey. They make it fresh & from scratch. Their Minestrone soup is also made from scratch & is a close second to what my mom used to make, which isn’t an easy task. Can’t get any better than that! I used to go to the Country Kitchen in Fremont & thought that that was a decent place to go… until I discovered Baldie’s. Hands down, they have them all beat :)

It’s such a cute little diner and the customer service was great! They seated us immediately and gave us water. It wasn’t my first time but I got something new. I usually come for breakfast and it’s amazing. I was craving some ribs so I got the Saturday special which was the beef short ribs. I was expecting a lot from it and it turned out really poor. It was so fatty and not flavourful at all. I wouldn’t recommend it. My bf got the Baldie’s special burger and he enjoyed it. He hoped it was served with fries instead of spaghetti. I personally didn’t like the spaghetti, it tasted too peppery. Wasn’t very satisfied with our late lunch meal.

We are regular. Great breakfast place. In the era of chain breakfast places like IHOP and Denny’s this place stands out. Yummy omelettes, fresh ingredients and friendly staff! Don’t get fooled by the lines. They move pretty fast. …and…don’t forget to get the Andres mint chocolates(I am a sucker for those!!)

I went to Baldie’s to pick up dinner tonight, and I have to say that I had the greatest experience! I walked in and was greeted by the friendliest and most welcoming man. All I needed was a menu to see what I wanted, but it felt like I’d slipped back in time where customer service was real. He truly has a way with people… witty, courteous and kind. To top off the night, dinner was great. I was looking for some home-styled comfort food, and I got exactly that. The portion was definitely enough to have leftovers. If you’re ever in the area, please stop by. Breakfast is great as well.

Very Hearty size serving so bring your empty tummy if you want so breakfast. I recommend getting the shrimp and avocado omelette, winner if your looking for a healthyish option. If not, linguinca and eggs or steak and eggs. . Enjoy!

Nice little diner. It’s nothing fancy, but the traditional feel of this restaurant gives it a great charm. It feels as if most of the décor us original and have been kept up well. Service is prompt and portions are large. My sister and I ordered corned beef hash and blueberry pancakes. All were good. Their corned beef and hash is like the kind out of a can and not sliced corned beef, which is a good thing because I prefer the ground up canned style. Pancakes were fluffy and came with a bowl of whipped cream on the side.

Great breakfast place! Good value, good food. I had the number three special with pancakes eggs and bacon. However, I was lusting after what my dining mates ordered! Eggs Benedict looked great, as did the omelettes. And get something with hashbrowns! The place has a diner feel to it, very good service, and practical but friendly staff. Highly recommended for a weekend breakfast.

Very cute, old fashioned diner! My boyfriend and I came in about 30 minutes before closing and were worried about not getting seated. Fortunately, we were seated immediately! The customer service was great! The waiter came and served us drinks as soon as we were seated and took our order not long after! The food was pretty good! I got the eggs Benedict and I believe my boyfriend got the #4 special(bacon, eggs, pancakes). The eggs Benedict was delicious! A lot of lemon zest in the hollandaise and the biscuit at the bottom was very flavorful from all the eggs/ham/sauce on top! My dish came with fresh fruit as well, which was also decent! 3⁄5 stars because the food is not particularly memorable in my opinion. But for the portions you get for the cheap prices you pay, it’s definitely a good meal!

Please remove Biscuits and Gravy from your Menu. Serving military grade(possibly weapons grade) hardtack biscuits as the foundation of a breakfast on tray is fraudulent. I’m from the southern Midwest and am always trying biscuits and gravy at diners around Cali. As a Minimum requirement a biscuits need a few of these attributes: warm, soft, flaky, fluffy, buttery. Chipping your tooth on a cold hard biscuit camouflaged under gravy is insulting. Including NASA inspired free cheap hotel chain breakfasts, this was the worst I have ever had or seen.

I really do love the old fashioned diner atmosphere that Balidies offers. On the outside it doesn’t look like much. On the inside they have large cushy red booths lining the walls, and giant mirrors that really make the place look much bigger than it is. We were seated by one server, and were actually waited on by another. Our waiter took our orders down properly; my burger that I ordered rare actually arrived rare. But his attitude wasn’t very friendly. He didn’t even smile when he introduced himself. He was all business; get in, get out, move on. My friend ordered the chicken and rice soup and shared it with me. It was quite good except for the fact that the rice was soggy, and the broth was over salted. I ordered the Chef’s Burger which has a half pound patty, American«cheese», lettuce, tomato, onion, plus a lot of avocado and two long strips of bacon. Mayonnaise does not come on the burger, and instead is served in a small paper cup on the side. The burger was seasoned well, was very juicy, and all the condiments really complimented the rest of it. Big props for putting that much avocado on the burger. They do not skimp on that here. I was not given on option for sides, so I was stuck with the usual French fries, which I’m not complaining about. They were hot, perfectly salted, and they were a very generous portion. Though the service could have been better, the food itself makes this place worth a peek.

I found out about this spot by word of Unilocal,as it is barely noticeable, tucked away in a small strip mall without any large signage from the road. Arrived Saturday around 3PM, and already they had their dinner specials posted on a board as you enter. We were quickly noticed and seated, and selected from Baldie’s specials off their luncheon menu. I went for Baldie’s special burger($ 11.95), ten ounces of beef on a french roll. You choose between two set of sides — spaghetti or fries and soup or salad. I went for spaghetti and minestrone soup. After the order was taken, bread and crackers were brought, as well as our drinks. The bread was fresh, and the minestrone soup savory — loaded with large portions of veggies. The burger was broiled a perfect medium well, topped with pickles, onions, lettuce and tomatoes. A cup of mayo was on the side. It tasted all right, but I’ve had better burgers elsewhere. My only compliant was with the spaghetti. The marinara sauce was too hot and spicy. With reasonable prices and quick service, this place fits the bill when you want a true diner experience.
