Joey’s sold this location in the summer of 2015. New staff not friendly. Food is different and not in a good way. Gave them two chances to get it right. Will not be back.

We’ve eaten here before and wanted to try it again. Got there before 1PM today(Sunday, 1⁄17) and saw the waiting room with quite a few people. Later I found out that everyone there was just waiting to put their names down! No one was at the reception desk. There were multiple parties waiting(again, just to put our names down) but no one bothered to check or at least acknowledge us and let us know that someone was going to be with us. It wasnt very busy inside. Saw a few servers who were just focused on the tables they were serving. Must not be in the manual to alert management of the crowd waiting. I also tried to call multiple times but the phone just kept getting disconnected. We after more than 10 minutes of being ignored(while the dining area was not even packed). There’s a new owner notice on the window(pic attached). Maybe there’s a new staff. Maybe they were understaffed. None are acceptable excuses. Good news is, Joeys BBQ in Upland being non attentive drove us to try something new. Review for The Corner Butcher Shop coming soon.

Love the food and the atmosphere. You know you are about to indulge in some great BBQ when you can smell it from a mile away. The ribs and steak are full of flavor and for someone who doesn’t care for beans, I love their beans. It is the little things that make me happy. Like the cow flag in the center of the table to ask your server for assistance. Dine or Dash? Dine. Takeout. As long as I can smell the BBQ, I will walk there!

Food was okay, not great, not bad. Staff needs some customer service lessons. If you are looking for BBQ, live nearby and are not looking for anything special or fancy, this is your place. I usually like most genres of music, but this was so loud that we had to literally yell at one another to talk and there were only four of us so we were not that far away from each other. Never busy is the biggest plus.

Last night I had a pulled pork sandwich From joeys BBQ and it was very good meat was soft bread was fresh and sauce was great. I love that fact that they don’t flood the sandwich and they put extra BBQ sauce on the side to leave it up to you to add more. Great, TRYTHISPLACE!

The waitress recommended the brisket. Omg! It melted in my mouth. I have NEVER had a better BBQ brisket EVER! The yam fries were perfect. The red coleslaw was tangy and good. The customer service was great. We will definitely be back.

I’ve driven by this place many times in the past. Never stopped in until yesterday after my son and his girlfriend talked about this BBQ place and going there for a late lunch. The atmosphere was that of an old western styled bbq joint. When we first walking it was kinda strange that there was no one else in there. At first I was wondering if they were open for business. Eventually a young woman came over and seated us. She took our drink orders. When she came back with the drinks and asked if we were ready to order. We placed our orders. Food came out after a few minutes. Food was great. I had the pulled pork sandwich. The sweet cornbread was so good and was something I had never tasted before. The potato salad tasted good. The pulled pork was so tender that is just melted in your mouth and had this nice smoky flavor to it. Came with a small cup of bbq sauce so you could add more sauce onto your food. I should have asked for more of the sauce because it was really good also. I sliced my sandwich into 1 inch wide slices and dipped into the sauce. By the time we left there there had been a few more people who had come in. I would definitely go back.

Took my wife, son and his girlfriend to Joey’s last night and was disappointed for the first time. New cooks? Slow to grab food off the counter/hot lights? Bad cuts of meat? Don’t know but the meat was very dry last night. Had to douse it in the b-b-q sauce in order to chew it. Previous visits were fine! Even had Joey’s cater one of our neighbourhood gatherings and that was juicer than this in-house experience. It will be awhile before I venture back for more. There is a lot of competition in the Upland area for good b-b-q. One last thought — the manager ought to sit the waitresses down for a little chat about timeing out food deliveries so that the meals are delivered together and not one-at-a-time. F. B.

Coming here felt like stepping into the twilight zone… Hello is anybody home? This place was empty on a Friday night so my boyfriend and I awkwardly waited for two girls who were having a conversation in the back to serve us. Weird. The only other people who ended up sitting down to eat at the restaurant was a mother and her son who were friends with the server. We ended up getting what sounds like better service than most because of this. The food here is pretty alright. The ribs aren’t the best I’ve ever had but also tender. Mac n cheese was very rich and my veggie kabob came with a side of thick cheese sauce that is obviously a key ingredient in the aforementioned mac. The sauce was alright to try as the server insisted, but it was overkill. My guy really liked the sweet potato fries that come with marshmallow dip. They looked good and I’m not even a fan. Overall I don’t think I’d come here again.

Have been coming here for about 8 months now. When we started coming here service was great, but has been going downhill. Last night was awful! Let me separate food from service. The food is always always great but last night made me rethink ever coming back. We had to ask for drink refills about 3 times. Our waiter took our drink order then never came back. Other servers helped with our order and brought our food out. I asked for a box to take the leftovers and after 10 minutes still no box. I went inside(we were sitting on patio) to ask the server for a box and our check. About another 10 minutes later we were still waiting. I went inside again to ask for check and our server was just standing in the kitchen talking. I felt like I was begging to pay my bill! He was so unapologetic. Love this place but the service is so horrible so beware.

I visited this location about a month ago for my best friend’s graduation celebration. We had a larger group of about 10 people and the restaurant was more than able to accommodate. I loved that they have the simple«flag» system to get assistance. I got a BBQ burger(one of my go-to choices wherever I go) and I was not disappointed! I also really liked that their menu was pretty simple… This made it less overwhelming when ordering. My best friend’s family visits this location a lot and they ordered the bigger dinner plates. They let me try some of the sides that they got and I definitely want to go back for the veggie-bob! :) I also want to go back for their garlic bread appetizer… So much yum! :) Also, I think I will try the sausage dinner plate next time(one of the people in my group got this and I definitely wish I got that!). I’ll save the burgers for burger joints… I should have gotten BBQ at this adorable BBQ restaurant.

Dropped in for lunch and immediately basqued with aroma ofbarbeque mmm. Service was quick. I’d go back just for the garlic bread. Had the baby back ribs with a sideof coleslaw. Coleslaw was very good and yourtypical cabbage and carrots, this had bits of zucchini and portions are good sized. My husband got the brisket sandwich whic was very tender with the sweet potato fries sprinkles with briwn sugar and melted marshmallows to dip. Yum! Love the ambiance, feels like I’ve time traveled to the old west.

Not the worst, certainly not the best either. The whole experience just seemed kinda weird… I only saw my server once, they were out of sausage at 5pm, the gravy tasted more like flour than anything and the brisket was pretty dry. They use nutmeg in the bbq sauce which to me was off putting but edible none the less. A woman would peak her head out of the door that led to the kitchen from the bar and yell across the room asking if I was okay and if I needed anything. I was the only person in the bar area at that time so that should have been my first clue as to the type of place this was.

Anyone who does not give this place 5 stars does not know barbecue from a hole in the ground. This is legit bbq. We had the works, we were starving and are taking the chicken home. Get the potato salad it’s the best I’ve had.

Food was al’right. Meat was a tad dry and BBQ sauce made the sandwich okay. Neat place but won’t be coming back. This place says it’s been around a while, but it must have changed hands.

Stopped in today around 4:30pm. The place was pretty much empty. We chose to sit in the bar area at a table. The waitress couldn’t have been less interested in helping us. She didn’t know what kind of wine they had even though we could see the bottles. She never returned(even with our little flag was up). She was completely disinterested. We got up and left after waiting 15 min for some attention. Never got to try the food, that smelled great but seemed over priced to us. The people working seemed to really very nice, but I was pissed and had moved on. Casa Moreno in Claremont got our business tonight. It was great. We spent about $ 70.00. Because of this waitress /bartender they lost a lot of business as we were scouting out a new place for our monthly meetings for our group. Hope she gets fired, she was worthless and insulting.

I came here with my parents for my Dad’s birthday lunch and my parents really enjoyed it. It was definitely a good change for them from all the Asian food we eat most of the time. The one thing I really like about Joey’s Bar-B-Q is that their lunch specials are available throughout the day. Even when it’s dinner time, I usually order the lunch specials anyways because it’s already a big portion to me. Their dinner specials are also available all day for anyone who is feeling a big appetite or also a good idea if you wanted to share. Both the lunch specials and the dinner specials come with two sides. My mom got the lunch special #5: Bar-B-Q Pork Ribs. We got her the Baby Back Ribs($ 16.95), which were an extra dollar compared to the St Louis Pork Ribs($ 15.95). She had them with coleslaw and yam fries. My dad ordered the Western BBQ Burger($ 11.95) and the burgers also comes with two sides so he had regular fries and potato salad. I had the lunch special # 1: Bar-BQ Beef Ribs($ 15.95) with potato salad and mac and cheese. I can’t exactly say I liked the service. It’s nice that we can raise the flag when we need them and they leave us alone otherwise… but during the times we did raise the flag, they didn’t feel that friendly. Also I am slightly annoyed that I told them to give me the bill cause it was my dad’s birthday, but they still just placed the bill in the middle of the table… and I had to fight for it… And no birthday singing or dessert or acknowledgement… So yeah… I’m not too thrilled about the service here… I must agree with my good friend Ji O that Lucilles is a better choice for barbecue and ribs. Too bad Joey’s is so much closer to home…

This location has catered for our company holiday party for two years & both times have been great experiences. All of my coworkers, and our dealers who joined us at our party, had nothing but great things to say about the food. We had the following menu items, all of which I highly recommend: Potato Salad Baked Beans Corn on the Cob BBQ Chicken Ribs(according to everyone’s reactions & comments, these stole the show) Brisket Garlic Bread The meats were all tender & pratically fell off the bone. The BBQ sauce was delicious & flavorful. The waiters that came to our office to serve the food were friendly and courteous. I don’t call the shots around here, but if I did, I’d definitely have them cater again next year!
