We had a party of 6(including 2 children). Were able to make reservations pretty effortlessly. The hostess was very friendly! We enjoyed the salads and our steaks were wonderful! For sides, I particularly liked the mashed parsnips! Accommodated our 8 year old and 2.5 year old as well with a nice helping of butter noodles and Mac and cheese. Only complaint, it was extremely loud in the restaurant. We could barely talk and hear each other! But overall, nice dining experience and our server was wonderful!

The Chophouse is great with groups. A collection of 24 dads and sons had a great time watching the 50th Super Bowl at the Chophouse. We had an awesome experience. The owners, Jordan(the Manager) and Ryan(our server) were so accommodating and friendly, even when we got a bit boisterous. We were watching football so most of us ordered burgers which were generously sized and properly cooked to each person’s particular taste. I don’t know how they got that right given how busy the place was for the game. I highly recommend the Chophouse for special events or simply watching a game with a bunch of friends. Of course, for smaller groups or couples, the food, drinks and live music are wonderful too.

This was my first time at the Chophouse and it did not disappoint! Good selection on the menu and great sized portions. The staff there is super fun and the service is fantastic. I had the BBQ Carnitas sliders with truffle fries and both I would recommend and give 2 thumbs up. My Dad had oysters and ribs and seemed to really enjoy both. I also enjoyed a little Apres ski with a Bloody Mary which was spicy and delicious. I think we found our new favorite lunch spot at the bottom of the mountain!

A family member suggested this place who was here a few years ago. But the Unilocalers were right. Terrible service and mediocre food for the price. Basically a lounge area that sells $ 50 steaks. Far better options in Vail for the price.

Great place! Lovely atmosphere, feel like a mix between a sports pub/bar and a nice restaurant. Has the best of both worlds. The owner is super awesome and sweet, got me seated right away. Sat at the bar and the bartenders were very polite and fast. Didn’t even have to ask for a refill, they did it automatically. Lovely location, perfect right after a long ski or snowboarding session. Recommend the butterfinger drink, perfect to warm you up.

It was my and my wife’s Honeymoon and her Birthday as well. I knew the reviews lately haven’t been very well but I figured the Chophouse would still be good and she had never gone… Upon walking in I asked the host where the restrooms were and he said«we don’t have one», I politely said okay, thank you and proceeded to find it myself. Not only was this our honeymoon but also my wife’s Birthday. So I told another host that this was a special occasion due to the honeymoon and Birthday, and it never made it back to my waiter… I was waiting and stalling at the end of an overpriced(for the quality) meal for some sort of dessert or something. But it never came. I even hinted that we would like a dessert. So after almost paying for one I went up and told the waiter who wasn’t the least bit worried. If you are looking for a REAL Steakhouse this was not one that you order your food and are amazed by how steak melts in your mouth or where you say this steak or Lamb chop was the best one I ever had. Not last night.

I went for lunch and apres ski drinks. 2 out of the 3 servers were super. The 1 was a jerk and should be fired.(He told us that even though we were sitting there for 15 minutes and he didn’t get to us until 3:01 pm, that we could not eat lunch. The waiter took my husbands phone and turned our phone on to point to the 3:01 time and he just got worse.) But on to the good part. Hamburger was great. Drinks were great. Atmosphere was great. Location was great and after ski entertainment was really good. Although our young adult boys found it kind of schmarmy. We and everyone there loved it. The guy played tunes from the 70’s-2000’s. Pop, rock and country. And my husband and I really loved it.

What a horrible experience. We made reservations at 6pm for 8 adults and 2 babies for 9pm(and stated that we needed space for a stroller). When we arrived(on time) there were no notes on the reservation about the babies. They finally got us a booth for 8 adults and a high chair. Half of the party sat down including the baby on the high chair when they told the other half that the stroller could not be in the dining area, we had a sleeping baby on the stroller !!! After trying to talk to them for about 5min, the host was soo rude and told us that the«fire department«did not allow the stroller in the dinning area ! How can they tell us this when ALL of the emergency exits in the restaurant were blocked with tables and chairs. We ended up leaving. It was very disappointing, it was our last night in Vail and we just wanted a nice family dinner. Do not recommend to anyone with children.

The Chop House in Vail, Co is a must. The food is very tasty and varied. A great wine selection too. The entertainment of Phil Long is exceptional and a one-of-a-kind experience. The new owners have created a fun, energetic and inviting atmosphere you will want to be a part of.

Stopped in tonight for happy hour, 50% of all drafts, wine and appetizers. Appetizer menu very limited but got the baked Brie and pita crackers and a glass of wine. The Brie was good but didn’t love the apricot sauce on top — had chili sauce in it I think. I also ordered a wedge salad, good size and delicious blue cheese. Service was excellent — very nice bartender Christina I think her name was from Bulgaria. Recent new owners so I am sure they will revamp menu for winter.

Best night I can remember in a long time! Food– been in the past, it was ok. Clearly the menu has changed with the new ownership… all for the better! Everything was fantastic. Filet Oscar was delish and salmon was possibly the best ever. Of course you can never go wrong with the lobster mac n cheese! Waitstaff– everyone was«on it!» Very attentive to all our needs. Entertainment– Phil Long — need I say more? The entertainment was off the charts– of course Phil didn’t disappoint and was in true fun Phil fashion. He had the whole place on their feet and having a blast. I had the opportunity to meet new people who want to move here from CA– they thought they thought they hit the jackpot tonight and had a blast. What a great night for them to come out with the fantastic entertainment. I can’t wait to see the amazing vibe the Chophouse will have during the ski season with the great menu changes and additions and the fab entertainment with Phil Long!

Rating remains but I do want to note that I received a message from a customer service rep as a follow up for my original review. Unfortunately I did not notice the message until I logged in using a desktop(normally I use an app) months later. Still, relevant information for those looking to know more about the establishment. Even if service isn’t 100%, they’re at least attempting to correct it.

We visited from New York and this is the only place in Vail I’ve eaten, so I am not sure what the standard is. But the food was not the best. We were a party of 9 and ordered 9 different entrees and a good variety of appetizers and sides… we tried them all and had a pretty good consensus that the appetizers were good and the Mac and Cheese was good. Everything else, including the steaks, were ok, but overpriced considering they were only ok. Our waiter was very nice. But the service was otherwise slow. I hope there are better places in the area with better food.

The décor is great at this spot, directly across from the Lion’s head Gondi. Upscale feel yet you show up in your snow gear and feel welcome. The wait staff is pretty good about checking up on you and the kitchen turns out food efficiently, even during busy lunch hours. Our waitress did a decent job but she did one thing that I truly irritates me. She brought out 2 of the 3 drinks my table ordered and informed us that the 3rd drink is taking a bit longer to make but should be right out. No problem, I’m good with that. But then, instead of moving on to take our order, she just walked away. Why?! Taking an order and delivering the last drink to our table don’t have to be dependent on each other. Now perhaps, some groups want to wait for everyone to have their beverage before ordering food. Fine, then ask if everyone is ready to order or rather wait until all drinks arrive. But don’t just walk away. Okay, rant over. The food is quality. You can tell right away that this place does business with higher end suppliers. However, be careful with ordering bison here. My friend had a bison burger and it was overcooked. However, his chili was phenomenal. My pulled brisket sandwich was fantastic and the salmon bisque ordered by the 3rd member of our party really enjoyed that. My beef brisket sandwich, a substitute of soup rather than fries and a beer cost me $ 22 before tip. Not bad actually, considering this place is right at the base of the Gondi. I also thought the menu could have been bigger and more entrées can be offered. The selection was a bit small. Overall, this place isn’t bad and I can see potential to bring total stars up to 4.

I went there on a Monday afternoon for lunch during the ski season– deck was more busy than inside. Lots of space inside. It was clean for what I could tell and for what I paid attention. Comfortable sitting and great view. Now as far as food — it’s was good! The value is even better if you consider that you’re in Vail. Not saying it’s amazing or something special but it is definitely above average. Because of the nice & cozy atmosphere and absolutely great value I give it 5 stars.

I can’t speak to the steaks, but if you’re looking for strong cocktails and a few small plates at the base of the mountain, this is your spot. In need of an alcoholic beverage or two and a bite, we essentially flipped a coin between the Chophouse and the joint next door because both have an unbeatable view of the gondolas running up the slope. I opted for the Fresh Fashioned(which turned out to be a bucket of bourbon that I may or may not have ended up regretting several hours later), but was well-made. Food-wise, we shared the shrimp cocktail(exactly what we wanted), the elk sausage(wonderfully flavorful and accompanied by an excellent mustard sauce) and the spinach and artichoke dip(entirely too healthy, but still solid). I’d do it again in the unlikely event I’m every fancy enough to be in Vail for another wedding.

Vail Chophouse was able to accommodate our large group of about 50+ diners early on a Saturday evening. Their servers were so quick and courteous. We took up several large and small tables and our servers knew exactly who ordered what even with everyone milling about and socializing. Despite the large group, our food was incredible! This was one of our best meals while in Vail. My NY Strip was cooked to perfection. We also ordered dessert, probably one of the best(and largest) slices of carrot cake I have ever had! Thanks to everyone at Vail Chophouse for a wonderful evening.

Having grown up in tropical Malaysia, I don’t really drink hot drinks. I do however make an exception when skiing. I love warming my innards with the drink and my hands by holding the cup Vail Chophouse is quite a swanky restaurant with an ideal slopeside location. Perfect for us to have a mid morning break from the slopes. They were perfectly happy for us just to have a drink and we were welcome in our ski gear I enjoyed a nice hot chocolate with lashings of cream. Well, I am burning a lot of calories on the slopes. Hehe The prices were reasonable for Vail

I’m not generally in the business of responding to other reviews, but I’d like to make a couple points. Vail Chophouse sits approximately 20 feet from the snow-covered slopes at the base of a gondola in Lionshead Village, and all day every day people are marching through there with their ski boots and other gear. I’m not saying that patrons should not expect a clean and orderly restaurant when they enter, I’m merely pointing out that this place does a TON of lunch business with skiers, and that takes a toll on both the restaurant and the staff. Granted, I have some extra sympathy for restaurants who get most of their business from tourists, who generally have higher expectations and less patience. We stopped in for lunch on a Friday, and had a very enjoyable experience. Our waiter came to the table shortly after we were seated, and kept appropriate tabs on us throughout our meal. I found the variety of lunch options to be extensive and interesting, and finally settled on fish tacos. The mahi was great, although the tacos themselves were a little overstuffed, as they often are, and therefore somewhat difficult to eat. The avocado relish was so good, I ate the tortilla chip bowl it came in. One of our party was trying salmon for the first time in the form of a salmon BLT(!), and she loved it. I was lucky enough to get a bite, and it was indeed excellent. In conclusion, this place isn’t cheap and shouldn’t feel like it, but that said I don’t think anyone dining here should expect it to feel like their favorite neighborhood eatery. This is a tourist restaurant in a tourist town, and the experience is commensurate with that reality. Personally, I would think twice about having an expensive dinner at a place that primarily caters to hungry skiers during the day. This is a great place for lunch in Lionshead Village.
