The servers were VERY untrained. Took them about 10 minutes to get those of us inept with chopsticks a fork, they screwed up the drink orders and the soup was cold the first time. Don’t drink the water, it tastes like soap.

After making a reservation for 6:30, as with another family, we both got seated 45min. late and the server messed up 2 of our orders. When the food did come out the tempura was raw. After paying the bill, I asked to speak to the manager to discuss this, not to get anything for free, but to just say that we are regular customers and that this was the first time it was unsatisfactory. I explained how I worked in the serving industry and all she did was come over, make excuses and left. Would not be the way I would handle the situation.

How is it that they can say that they no longer have dessert due to them being closed after we finished eating teppan. Hanh told us and the manager was unable to address the issue. Well. I guess that will be the last time for us. One more thing. Attention Kisho, For future customers. It’s okay to give a little more than counting the grains of rice you give. We had to have toe cook make more rice due to my friend only getting ½ a bowl attempted to be made to look like a full Bowl. Let us know when you are more serious about your business and we may give it another try.

This place is great! Teppan chefs are skilled artists and I love having my food cooked fresh right In front of me and Servers are always really nice. The sushi is really awesome too. I usually get steak& chicken which comes with sautéed vegetables and salad, some fried rice and a sushi roll. Hats off to everyone running this place, it’s not everywhere you can go and get fresh teppan and sushi to this quality. Thinking about it while Writing this review is making me want to go back soon. Trust me you’ll love the food here.

Wow. I’ve been here many times for the last decade, and I must say this place has really downgraded. I’m gonna have to put this review in different parts, because this is one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. First off, the menus have a different restaurant name on them, as do some of the plates. The appetizer menu says Kisho, while the regular menu says Cho Cho San. Where exactly am I? Looks like some sort of an identity crisis. On top of that, they didn’t advise us that the lunch menu has somehow been eliminated. In other words – the prices were dinner prices even though it was lunchtime. We started off with a garlic sauteed edamame, which has never disappointed me before here. It was flavorful, yet stone cold. The chicken broth soup was too salty to eat. Our chef, Reynaldo, arrived within a few minutes and began to cook our food. Right off the bat, I realized he was definitely inexperienced. Not only that, but the overhead light would not turn on, so he was cooking in the dark. It was quite the disaster — the fried rice was scattered all over the grill. It’s not his fault that they didn’t train him well, but he definitely needed some training. The salmon was way overcooked and hardly edible. I watched as my friend had to remove the intestinal tract of a piece of shrimp in order to eat it. The chicken was thick, and some pieces were bloody and veiny. Unpleasant and low-quality. While I sat and stared at my inedible food, a green light appeared from below the tabletop. I watched as it lit up people’s crotches all over our side of the restaurant. Nice try, but that doesn’t help the chef while he cooks in the dark nor does it give a trendy vibe. On my way out, I noticed a large couch in the parking lot. That’s really not a wise way to dispose of furniture. $ 85 for 3 people at lunchtime, and we left hungry. Ashamed to have to pay for that. Guess I won’t EVER be back to Kisho… or is it Cho Cho San?

We had a big party and were seated in the boudah lounge. Food was great. The waitress was on point handeling a big party on her own. My only complaint was that the room was freezing, like toes numb and shivering cold.

Waited thirty minutes AFTER reservation time before we were finally seated. The waitress was extremely slow and the tempura chef Ricardo was rude and made inappropriate jokes. Will NOT be eating here again!

I HAVE to update my review after tonight. This place is no longer a place where I will come with my family and spend a bill and a half. Let’s start with the employee’s and their service. I understand you need to be making money, but having a reservation wait 45 minutes over their reserved time for ONEPERSON to show up(they were apparently running late the guy said) is ridiculous. Seat the damn people, and forget about the one person for the moment. The lady who just sits and writes down names asked«Is everyone here for the reservation» a minimum of 6 times. Get over it. It doesn’t come out of your check anyways. Also, WHY does the front counter need 5 people behind this 10 sq. foot area at all times. One person to ask«how many», one person to write down the quantity and name, one person to just literally stand there and do nothing, and the other two who apparently«enter in checks». You need one person, if not two and that’s it. Those other 3 – 4 can be on the floor helping their coworkers with customers. You’re losing money because of it. The food quality has gone down hill recently too, unless I’m coming on the most inconvenient times of the kitchen? Plus, I rather not sit and watch the chefs LITERALLYCRAWL on the ground to get supplies in front of my booth. It’s weird, disturbing and gross. Isn’t that against health codes? Why does the front desk insist on sitting you at a table/booth combo when you specially ask for a full booth, then say you can get the manager when I know the manager will do absolutely fucking nothing because it’s just a table. The manager is non-existent. Tonight, I sat with my father for 55 minutes for a table of two. They called«Terry»(the name of our party), and seated two other people. I went up and said that our party was named«Terry» and I’ve been waiting for over an hour(at this point) for a table. I’m very cordial and extremely kind until I start to get the noticeable snobby attitude. I take it personal because I’m going to Kisho’s knowing I’m spending at minimum $ 100 bucks on two people. She insisted to argue with me over how she called the party’s name several times, and no one answered. I was LITERALLY on the bench in front of the desk. Girl, SWERVE. I was finally seated with my father, whom was incredibly irritated at this point. Food was soggy, room temperature, and our waitress was too much in-your-face. I also don’t like when waiters/waitresses clear your plate while your eating and in the middle of chewing. They always take it personal when you say no thank you. I used to come here bi-weekly, yes I know a lot, and it’s a lot of money I’ve invested into this place. They were FANTASTIC over a year ago, but it seems that 2015 has made this place take a toll on everything. Also, any«eel-sauce» lover like me will know that we deserve to have a bowl filled with this sauce of magic, yet we get this teenie-weenie metal thing. The Buddha on the tables are a fucking horrible idea. They take so much damn space I can’t even deal. Take them off, sincerely a foodie who needs to have room for the food when it hits the table. The«bar» is so sad. It’s like a dead nightclub, with horrid music blasting in your ears, stupid colored lights, and again, poor service. Unfortunately it’s the only«decent» sushi place in Santa Clarita, unless you want to go to Yomato’s, but who actually eats there anymore? That place turned to the biggest shit-hole ever since the owner change in 2008. Peace.

My husband and I used to love this place. After our last experience, not anymore. It looks like they had a new management or something. Everything. From the servers till sushi, they were all disappointed. Greeters and servers were not friendly. First they called us and give us the table. Few mins later they said it was wrong table, it was supposed to be for someone else’s. Ok, fine. Then when they called us, in the front they said, you can order happy hour one time only. When they seated us, she told us again, you can order the happy hour one time only. We asked our server about the happy hour she was confused and asked the other ladies.(I didn’t know Kisho has happy hour on Sat. Because that lady told us twice, so I though why not try the happy hour). They admitted they were wrong and one of the greeters told us that the one who gave the wrong info was a new girl. No water, soy sauce, chopstick nor wasabi. We had to ask them. Then sushi came. They were Ok. Not good, but ok. We’ve been going to this place for years and we had never had bad experience like this before. So, it was so disappointing. Specially since it was our anniversary and my birthday’s celebration. We thought Kisho was the right place for our special day. We were planning to have fried green tea ice cream for dessert but since we were not satisfied from the beginning we arrived there so we decided to have dessert from another place. No more Kisho for us.

If you love eating spicy tuna and California rolls, then you will enjoy Kisho. I recommend visiting during their 10 pm happy hour on a Friday night to take advantage of their lower prices for food and drinks. After dinner, you can head over to their club in the back to burn off all the food you just ate and $ 2 beers. Free admission to the club if you dine in their restaurant.

LOVE this place during happy hour. I get the spicy tuna sushi and it’s like butter. Never chewy and never fishy. Also love the teppan area. It’s entertaining and the food is delicious.

One thing I can’t stand is when I’m lied to! If you screw up an order fess up to it & then we can move on — don’t keep lying over darn mushrooms! Just say it — sorry I screwed up but no, our server repeatedly lied to us the whole night over stupid mushrooms. Our chef was dry & boring — next time we will go when Gus is working so I know we will be taken good care of! Kisho get your servers in check!

I really feel the need to write this review. I called for a pick up order and it was all wrong. Please note we only asked for two ramen seafood soup. We got one ramen soup with shrimp and crab only, no seaweed, no green onions, no spinach. And the other one was ramen only. No seafood, no seaweed, no green onions, no spinach. They did charge us full price though. Extremely disappointed they lost two costumers today.

Like other Unilocalers, I have been going to Kisho for a couple years now, so its a bit bitter sweet to give the restaurant a low rating, yet it has really gone down hill. I haven’t been to Kisho in maybe a year and I had family in town, so I decided to treat them to a nice dinner out. Between the three of us, we ordered a rib-eye, New York strip, jumbo shrimp, chicken, and a couple other items. The«chef» was nice, but his cooking skills were sub-par at best. The shrimp were way over cooked, fried rice was dry and crunchy, and the chicken was so beyond over cooked, it was basically rubber bullets. The overcooked chicken also came once EVERYONE had finished eating because someone back or friend of the house forgot to bring it with the chefs cart… did I mention that all the other meats were cooked prior to the veggies? Does this seem odd to you because it sure as hell was for us! The portion size of my uncle’s Rib-eye was comical, it was smaller then one would expect for a child’s portion and we actually mentioned it to the staff and they said the people in the back make the cuts… Fantastic, the back of the house doesn’t know how to butcher then? Also, a jumbo order of shrimp only comes with 3 shrimp? Stingy much? With all of these complaints, we ended up telling the waiter and she ended up telling the manager, who took 20 percent off our bill… but never actually came to talk to us, or apologize. Honestly, I was horrified to bring my family members here with all of these mistakes. I have no problem shelling out 100+ for a decent meal, yet this wasn’t even at the standards of a fast food drive thru, let alone a actual restaurant.

I have been to Kisho many times over the last several years. Went here last night for dinner with the family. The place can get busy so reservations are a good idea because this place is always busy and parking can be a pain in the small parking lot. Everyone has a good time and the food is tasty. My recommendation; stick with what you know. What I mean is everyone gets chicken, steak, shrimp or lobster. I decided to change it up because I have eaten here many times. I ordered the Mongolian beef. During the preparation it looked delicious but… the noodles they added were not exactly fresh and they were a bit hard which ruined the dish. I enjoyed other items and stole food from the kids but my dish was blah. Everyone else in our party enjoyed their food and was happy but they ordered the usual. Service was fast and and attentive. I wish I remembered our cooks name because he was awesome.

This place gets 5 stars, EVERY time! It has become a tradition for the family birthdays, and I do have to say, it is pretty rad! They are super attentive and with the volume they have, I’m surprised at how«on point» they are each visit! Such a lovely ambiance, amazing food, and even the local chit chat in line while you wait is pleasant! I highly recommend the scallops and shrimp(keep in mind that you do get a small shrimp appetizer when you order an entrée, so if you are on the fence, you get a nice sample)! Also, their ginger dressing is to die for!!! Cocktails are never on the skimpy side either! Plus, they sing an awesome birthday song with drums and hats and masks… Pretty epic! Once my brother offered to buy one and they kindly declined due to the prop being part of the history. For a celebration you know you want to enjoy, why NOT come to this place?! It’s brilliant!!!

Ok so I’m here again & I noticed on the menu that there is a notice that says they charge $ 4.95 for special occasion celebrations. Didn’t notice that last time, but I’m still not a fan of this. I won’t celebrate any special occasions here. But I still love the teppan grill.

Another successful Unilocal recommendation! We came here at around 7:00pm on a Wednesday to celebrate my husband’s birthday. They have a teppan area(where they cook in front of you & do all of those cute knife & fire tricks) as well as a sushi bar. The three of us ordered two sushi rolls(the galaxy roll was AMAZING, but the spicy tuna roll wasn’t quite spicy enough), and three combo plates and found it was wayyy more food than we needed. The other family of 5 sitting with us(it is communal seating) did a family style dinner that included smaller portions of tuna, chicken, and steak. We didn’t see that option on the menu or we would have done that instead. All of the teppan meals come with soup, a tray of three sauces, fried rice, shrimp, and whatever your main choice of meat was. The fried rice was seriously the BEST fried rice I had EVER had. I would come back just for the rice and the Galaxy roll. One thing that did strike me as strange was how they brought all the meat out on the cart. I didn’t mind it being out in the open at room temperature, but the plates were all stacked on one another. It just didn’t seem like the best sanitary option, but they had an A rating. Lastly, we did enjoy the celebratory option that they have, but you have to pay $ 5. They bring out a sumo wig, play a taiko, sing«Happy Birthday»(in English), sing a song in Japanese that requires audience participation, and then they take a picture of you which they print out for you by the end of your meal. They need to improve their photo skills because they cut off the top of one of our heads.

Who knew that local Kisho sushi place was also a Teppan place? Schoolteacher knew. I hadn’t been here in several years. It was her birthday, and after discovering both Medieval Times and La Chen were both sold out for the night, she decided that she wanted to come here. When we arrived, the parking lot was stuffed full. People were even walking over from the parking lot across the street! But through Birthday magic, on our very first pass through the parking lot, a car right in front of the door backed out. It was a little uncomfortable for me, but for Schoolteacher’s birthday, I pulled into the spot. We entered, and I gave them my name. They said a half hour wait for the Teppan dinner. So, we got beer and hung out in the lounge in the back. From what I’ve been told, this section becomes a dance club later on. We sat and drank our beer and relaxed from our long and tiring day in the Catalina sun. We spent a half hour just sitting in the comfy chairs, drinking our large beers, and it actually passed fairly quickly. Somebody came back and got us, and lead us to a table, where I told a second person that we had a birthday. We looked at the menus and chose things. Schoolteacher went with the Sukiyaki steak, and I opted for the chicken and salmon combo. Then Ade our cook came out. He asked if anybody was celebrating a birthday. I also told him. He cheered and lit some stuff on fire for Schoolteacher. He then double checked our orders. Ade then cooked and fed us for what seemed like hours. Soup, Salad, Rice, Vegetables, Salmon, Steak, Chicken, it was all really great. Just as good as my last trip to Benihana. After the cooking and eating was done, a girl came out to check up on how things were, and began cleaning up the stove’s surface. Wait… nobody was coming out to sing and cheer and generally make a fool out of Schoolteacher because it was her birthday? But… but…I told the lady when we first came in! …and then I told the other lady who came to get us out by the lounge… and…and then I told the order guy… and then I told the chef guy, who lit fire for the thing! Why wasn’t anybody birthday celebrating for Schoolteacher? I told cleaning girl about our birthday celebration, and she genuinely seemed like it was news. She had no clue. [sigh] Stars were dropping off here. Eventually, they came out with their banging drum, and their ice cream, and their silly pokemon hat. They sang and cheered and took our photo. We had fun. When I removed the pokemon hat a lil bit later, Schoolteacher had a big ol’ grease stain on her forehead.(probably should clean that hat once in a while Kisho).
So, all in all, it was definately alot of fun. We ate a shload of food. The service was great, except for that birthday thing… and the grease stain thing.

This time we had Teppan dinner. We had the jumbo shrimp and ribeye and Lobster and ribeye. I also ordered my usual soft shell crab for appetizer. For those of you who had Teppan before this is no different, the fried rice, veg, shrimp, lobster and steak were extremely flavorful cause of the salt, butter and soy sauce. You just have go all out and enjoy the meal. The wine cleanse the lingering taste of lard butter. The service was excellent! The cook was friendly and entertaining and the waitresses took care of our needs. I should deduct one start for not having enough parking spaces, we have to park across the street to neighboring plaza which was prohibited. Otherwise, Kisho is Highly recommend. Friday and Saturday nights, they have a dance club as well.
