Review: brought my car in to McGee at 8:30 AM in the morning because I had a flat tire and it was closest to my house. I was told the tire could not be repaired and would need a replacement. Since my car is fairly new I wanted the tire to match my other tires. They did not have this tire in stock so they said they would have it delivered, no problem, by 230 that day. At 2:30 I did not hear from them so I called. I was told the delivery would be there in 10 to 15 minutes.
I called back one hour later and no tire. Now it seems as though they were not able to get the tire after all. So why could they not tell me this at 8:30 AM in the morning instead of making me wait six hours?
At this time I was under a time crunch so I called around and found the best tire that I could from a local tire repair shop at the cost of $ 88 plus the cost of alignment.
Magee did not have the tire and had to go and get ithis tire place. I wish I had taken my tire there to begin with.
. I finally got the tire mounted at 4:45 PM and on my car. They were going to charge me $ 188. I refused. Scott said he got the tire at $ 88 from the local shop and that is what I expected to pay for it now. So after some haggling they drop the price to $ 88 plus the cost of alignment making $ 123. Although they apologized profusely, I was blatantly lied to by being told the tire was on its way. On top of that, this could have been handled in a matter of less than an hour. To keep me waiting all day and then to overcharge me is inexcusable. I will never again take anything to the shop. Stay away from McGee tires!
Update: Since writing my first review, Magee Tires contacted me within the first 48 hours and tried to make things right. They apologized for the bad service and offered me $ 50 off of my bill.

Friendly staff quick wait time… Jessie the manager makes sure his customers are satisfied had posted a not so good review. Jessie called me immediately to rectify the situation. I did take my car back to the dealer and they said it’s ridiculous that a car with 10k would need a alignment. They checked everything and said it is fine

Don’t go here. Last year I brought my car in there for a simple oil change and tire roatation and they did the oil change and flipped the tires around but never balanced them. I drove out there and on the highway and nearly wrecked my car the tires were all over the place on the road. I called them and complained and took it to another place to have the tires fixed properly and handed them the bill. They refused to pay and wanted to work on my car again– I told them I don’t trust them with my family’s safety nor mine when it comes to working on my car. The manager cursed at me and I walked out. Then I wrote a letter to the owner Mr. Mcgee-​yes there is such a person. He refunded me my money and promised the manager would bend over backwards if I come back. I said no thanks. Anyone who puts there trust in someone whom screws them over where a family could wreck there car due to there stupid techs and manager… I love my family too much to risk it. I have NEVER AND WILL NEVER GO BACK.

I am so glad that McGee took over this auto repair shop! They have given my 2004 Honda new life with new tires, spark plugs and a much needed tune up. It is running great! They are very fair with the recommendations on your car. They do not force you to buy anything, instead they just advise you on what repairs are the most important. I will definitely be returning with my other car.

Update: I received a follow up call from the owner of McGee Auto Service & Tire (Mr. McGee) and spoke with him at length about what happened. He apologized for the mis-​diagnosis and was very professional and courteous. I did appreciate the phone call. This doesn’t change my experience or my review, but it is good to know that the owner of the chain cares about their reputation and is willing to take time to follow up on issues.
My Review: I had been going to Long Tire and Auto for years, and always liked the service and work they did. I’ve always known that they were pricey: the markup on parts is pretty high, shop fees are higher than other places, and labor costs are over $ 100 per hour where many other mechanics charge $ 50 – 80. All that being said, they were honest with me and not pushy, and everyone there was very nice and professional. I even had a personal friend that worked there, and still does after the sell to McGee. However, I have noticed a HUGE change in the honesty and professionalism since the shop was sold to McGee. I’m very trusting, and I’m pretty sure I’ve been taken a couple times since the beginning of the year, but this last time was outrageous enough that I had to take a step back and find out for sure. I still gave them 2 stars because many of the employees are the same and I sincerely believe they are in a bad situation where they are forced to keep a job that has become dishonest due to owner and management change. My personal experience is detailed below:
I brought my car in because the air conditioner was quitting after the car had been running for about 20 minutes; however, the a/​c was working every time when I first turned on the car, and if I turned off the a/​c for about 5 – 10 minutes, and turned it back on, it would work again for a while. The manager, Jesse, told me that he checked the AC and that there was a leak. He said that they used a sniffer to find where the leak was and that it was in the evaporator coil. To fix the leak, they would have to completely remove the dashboard to get to the box that houses the coil and replace the coil. The quoted price was just over $ 1800 with over $ 1000 of that in labor costs. The kicker was that this was not guaranteed to fix the A/​C, only to fix the hole so that they could properly diagnose the system to see if there was any other problems. $ 1800 is a lot to spend on an 11 year old car, so I asked if there were any temporary fixes or if they could just recharge the system, or if I could even do it myself. That much money will buy A LOT of cans of AC refrigerant from AutoZone. He told me there were no other alternatives, and that this needs to be done. When I said no thanks and tried to pay the $ 30 for the diagnostic work, he all of a sudden remembered an additive that might seal any holes in the system. The cost for this was about $ 60, but that the refrigerant needed to be drained, and then refilled with the additive, for a total cost of $ 230. At this point, I’m a little surprised that he didn’t try to tack on headlight fluid and elbow grease to the repair. I paid the $ 30 and left. Later that same day I found another mechanic that runs a small business, and had him look at it. He said that the clutch on the compressor was going bad and was not engaging properly. He said the clutch can be changed, but that it is not recommended because they are finicky and the best option is to just replace the compressor. He also recommended that I go with a new compressor instead of a rebuilt one. It was more money, but much more reliable, and assured me that there would be no up-​charge for the parts, no matter what I chose, and the labor cost is the same. I told him what Jesse and McGee said, and he said that anything is possible, but the clutch is definitely bad, and that if there is a leak, it is most likely at the compressor with a bad clutch. After I had it repaired, he told me that after replacing the compressor, he checked the system for leaks with a vacuum gauge, and no leaks were found. The really incredible part was that the valve the gauge has to attach to was still encrusted in dirt… no one had actually checked to see if there was a leak in at least the past several months.
Again, I must reiterate that I do believe that most of the mechanics at McGee are probably good, honest mechanics. That is why I still give them 2 stars. If it were only the management that I’m reviewing, it would most definitely be a 1 star review.

Horrible business!!! I have taken my personal car and business vehicle and they have said I needed expensive repairs that weren’t actually needed. My personal vehicle was towed there when it wouldn’t start. They called and told me that I needed a new distributor cap along with many other expensive repairs totaling over $ 2,000… I declined as I just had my car tuned up at the dealership where I purchased it. I had it towed to Regal Honda and they called to ask why it was there. I explained to them what was going on and it wouldn’t start. They were able to start it right up. They did numerous tests and determined all I needed was a new battery.
Most recently, I took my company car in to have its 50,000 mile service and oil change. I was waiting in the lobby and received a phone call from my company stating I was needing 2 tires and my water pump was leaking. No one from Long felt the need to inform me when I was sitting right in front of them. They made money off the tires but my company wouldn’t allow them to do the water pump as my car was still under warranty. Took it to Brandon Ford where 2 days later Ford informed me that there was nothing wrong with the water pump. They did tell me that whoever did the oil change didn’t tighten the filter properly so my car was leaking oil.
DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!! They have no ethics or morals and will do their best to take you for anything they can. I expect a dealership service department to try and make me do additional repairs but they are the ones that actually saved me money!!!

I tend to shy away from service centers such as this because I prefer mom-​and-​pop independent shops. However, we took our car here because they offer inexpensive oil changes and it is near where we live. I expected to be ‘upsold’ on other items and sure enough right after our third oil change they informed me that there was a problem with one of those undercarriage parts that the typical car owner knows nothing about … and they wanted to charge quite a tidy sum for the repair. Well, I have been taken by slicker a-​holes in my time. Two days later we had a couple of other shops look at the issue and neither of them found anything wrong. Looks like Long Tire and Auto has lost a potential long-​term customer because I am not going back there again.

Stay away from this place. They’re not honest and being fair

Took my truck to get my brakes done, they were the most cost effective compared to the competition. They offered me a ride home while my truck was being worked on, I declined since I live right around the corner and it was a beautiful day. Some services here are more expensive than others, but the quality and time it takes to complete make it worth while.
They finished the job in short order and did not leave my truck a mess inside afterwards. I used to be a mechanic so my standards are high, but fair.

Usually does good work but I have yet to go in for a repair where they did not try to sell me something else. They said my brakes needed replacement two weeks after I had them rebuilt. Need more work done but scared to go into them. They’ll probably tell me I need my engine rebuilt.
