As a Korean-American who’s been eating jjampong(korean-chinese spicy soup) my whole life on and off, I must admit, their fire bowl was pretty good. Their spiciness was medium-spicy. But rather than spiciness level, their ingredients and toppings they have inside the soup, such as clams, shrimps, squid, along with beef and vegetables, were all fresh while their noodles were handmade, so you dont taste any typical preservatives. Their fried rice was awesome. Quality of rice was really fresh and its been well fried, even just a smell appetized me even when I was full from fiNishing firebowl. My father along with people who crave for spiciest of spicy food may not like this place bcz it would be considered mild to them but for me, its perfect because while i enjoy spicy food, i like to also enjoy the food without struggling to tolerate spiciness in my body. If u guys r wondering what my father is like, he can literally chew and eat spicy mexican chili pepper or add Korean red chili paste into already-spicy Nong Shim Shin ramen. Thats not something most ppl including myself can do. Even in Japanese restaurants, instead of dissolving wasabi in a soy sauce, he pastes wasabi directly on a sushi and eats it. This is no-frills, fusion-based, local spot I would come back to again.

Just had my large firebowl soup. I love the ambience. I love the location. I love the cleanliness of the restaurant. In terms of their signature firebowl soup. I had the large one. Was not able to finish it which is crazy because as a GLUTTONOUS person, I should be up to the challenge. I guess I failed on this one. It was really LARGE. Love the taste and the aftertaste. I guess it will last ’til tomorrow. LOL. Will definitely come back to try their other food items in the menu. Saw a special dinner price for $ 5. I have not really read the whole thing but when I saw $ 5 I’M IN! I don’t know about the Anh who said it’s not for kids(I guess she is having a period or something). Kids love teriyakis period. Whether they be chicken, beef or pork.

Menu is simple: Only one kind of soup(fire bowl with either pork, or beef for $ 1 extra); plus teriyaki plates or fried rice, either with your choice of meats or veggies. The Experience: First guy we talked to was very polite and explained the menu to us thoroughly. But, he walked away while we were looking at the menu… I was asking a question still looking at the menu, and when I looked up there was a stoned teenager standing there. In true stoner fashion, he replied to my question with an elongated«whaaaaa???». I think we were both equally confused. I had been asking if they could do veggie fried rice with the fire bowl, since the menu says only chicken or pork fried rice can be added at a discount. I wish I had video of this exchange because it was hilarious. The kid answers«nahhhhhhhhh». I said, well can I pay extra to get veggie fried rice even though on the menu it’s cheaper than the meat options. The kid pauses for a hazy moment, then goes«nahhhhhhhh». I considered asking to talk to the first guy, who I’m guessing is the owner since he cared WAY more than the stoner kid; but I was also a little stoned, and it was way too much effort so I just didn’t get any fried rice. As I’ve been working on this review, we’ve bee n waiting for our fire bowl and chicken/beef teriyaki, and it’s been almost 20 minutes when we were given a 10 minute estimate. We’re musing that the stoner kid might have gotten confused as to what he was supposed to do with our food and started eating it. The Food: Finally we got our food! The teriyaki was excellent, although served in a small to go container and not a large platter, as pictured. We paid extra to add avocado but it was the most unripe avocado I have ever had the displeasure of eating. The fire bowl was good, but the shrimp were still completely encased in the shells. I don’t like doing all that extra work when I’m dining out. All in all I thought it was pretty good. I may or may not be back.

This place only offer one style noodle, spicy. And if you ask him for non spicy noodle for a child he would say no. Not a good place to bring kids. I ordered the noodle bowl, full of noodles, some cabbage, over cooked meat, 2 over cooked shrimps, and really chewy squid pieces. Ambience is dark with cheap furnitures. We order fried rice for my toddler, rice full of beans sprout, and over cooked chicken. My son spired out the chicken when we fed him. Worse of all the sever had attitude big time. I short, if you have kids, not a place to go.

Everyone working there was very polite and friendly and the restaurant itself is clean and well laid out. The food is amazing, they give you large portions and the menu is reasonably priced. I live about 10 minutes away and have to pass a few other Asian bowl restaurants to get to this location but it was worth it. So happy I found this place! Tip: If you plan on eating it there, bring your own Sriracha. They have sambal but not Sriracha.

I am always trying to find good spots to eat in the Valley and Fire Bowl was an awesome find. Fresh food, excellent service, very clean and great value. It is probably the best teriyaki spot in the Valley. I tried the Fire Bowl, their signature plate, and the teriyaki beef, they both were very hearty and flavorful. If you are near the Van Nuys, you have to stop by and give them a try.

It’s okay. The fresh noodles are nice, but it isn’t enough to make this establishment stand out beyond others of this class.

Wow best«hole in the wall» in Los Angeles! Their Fire Bowl is awesome, rich of a delicious mildly spicy broth, and very abundantly served with many seafood items such as shrimp, mussels, squid, pork, and some veggies! The bomb!!! The staff is young and very cool, they are eager to please you, and cook as you order. It is fresh and truly delishhh ! I highly recommend that place!

Huge portions for a great price. Ordered shrimp fried rice with no veggies(I know, blasphemy). It was bland, but edible. Suprised to see there was no egg. So I would suggest ordering the egg fried rice. Looking forward to trying other items.

I honestly have mixed reviews about this place the food is adequate, the noodles are super fresh and super yummy. If you are going, the Fire Bowl is a must, I also tried the shrimp fried rice but it wasn’t memorable. Management was super nice on my first visit and extremely rude on my second. I used groupon to get $ 20 of food for $ 12. However the manager seemed upset that I was using the coupon and chose it as an opportunity to vent about how he doesn’t get paid for groupon. Quite frankly not a good look, and not my problem. As a customer I look for great food and a great deal. Maybe they should reconsider their marketing strategy as well as consumer relations. Definitely worth a try but nothing to write home about. Patiently awaiting Tatsu to come to the Valley.

I came here from Hollywood after reading the Unilocal reviews and also because I have a friend that literally lives across the street. I haven’t Unilocal’d in a while, but i tend to do it only when I feel it necessary. I wanted to mention these 3 points. 1) Rob — Manager/Owner’s son. Very polite. Asked me if it was my first time there, I told him yes and he went on to explain how the food was prepped and that they made everything FRESH. 2) I ordered the combo because normally when I order a combo at a traditional Ramen place the portions are a bit smaller. 3) Cleanliness. Fresh is an understatement. BIGBOLDDELICIOUS is their Mantra. Hit the nail on the head! The food was AMAZING. Very surprised, normally most fast food type asian places I’ve been to the food was just ok. Not here, this place is a cut above the rest, hands down!!! The noodles were perfect, sometimes noodles can be either too spongy or way too tough. And the flavors and spice was just enough. The fried rice was solid and on point. I’m not a fan of bean sprouts but it didn’t bother me that they were in it. I didn’t have to add anything extra, and I LOVE spicy soup. Portions were huge!!! Can I just tell you the side of rice alone was like a normal order of fried rice! It’s definitely enough for two. So come with a date, or a friend. LOL. I was so overwhelmed, but in a good way. It was so much I took the rest to go. Which I’m already looking forward to eating it. The place was clean and well kept including the restroom. I don’t know if anyone feels the same way but I have a thing about restrooms. A dirty restroom to me is a reflection on the place as a whole. They need to have one of these places over in Hollywood by Thai Town, K-town — SOMEWHERE on this side of town. Rob, I’m really excited for you and your establishment and I wish nothing but success!!! I will be back for sure. Or I will be one of the first customers when you open up on my side of town. Happy eating everyone and please make your way to Fire Bowl.

K-Town in the San Fernando Valley! I found this place by complete accident. I was just turning Sherman Way so I could take the 405N to get home, saw their«Fire Bowl» advertising on their window as I turned the corner and thought it sounded interesting. Being that I was in what most people consider borderline ghetto, I didn’t expect much at all. I thought it was just going to be another crappy hole in the wall — boy was I wrong and it was most definitely a pleasant surprise! I ordered the Large Fire Bowl. When I saw the size of the bowl, I was completely taken back at how big it was. So, come hungry! The broth had the perfect amount of spiciness and kick to it. You know that magical spot between too-damned-spicy and not-spicy-enough? They expertly hit that perfect medium! There was also a perfect amount of seafood that you’d want or expect from the bowl. And the ramen… just wow! It was cooked to perfection and tasted so fresh and delicious — They got the soup, meat, vegetable and ramen ratio to a science too. It’s was as perfect as it could have gotten. The food is AMAZING! This place looks out of place in the valley, because you’d expect to find good food like this in K-Town, not in the San Fernando Valley. Exiting the restaurant, I unfortunately got hit with the reality that I was in the valley again and not in K-Town. A bunch of losers(just bad timing) were hanging out in the front of the restaurant, smoking weed and drinking alcohol. That was about the only obnoxious part of my first(and many more to come) visit to Fire Bowl. They’ve only been open a few months and the corner windows on the street have already been tagged up by low lifers.

I’ve been eating here regularly after lifting on the weekends, and this is the best value teriyaki bowl place in the entire Valley. The portions are generous, the ingredients are fresh, and you could not find a better deal for $ 7. I typically get the beef and chicken teriyaki bowl combo, but I also recommend trying the signature Fire Bowl, which is a spicy seafood noodle soup. I really enjoy how the restaurant keeps its menu simple and does not overwhelm us with options. The customer service is quick, attentive, and friendly. I will probably continue eating here every weekend because there is no better alternative for healthy, fast, and value oriented meals.

I come here about twice or three times a week for lunch. The Fire Bowl is awesome, it’s really filling since its so HUGE! I usually also add on a small fried rice for an additional $ 3.99 and eat that for dinner! I would recommend Fire Bowl if you are looking for some good deals for lunch or dinner. Sooooo good!

The regular fire bowl is HUGE, and I had leftovers — which is unusual for me! The noodles were amazing. Definitely hand-pulled, you can really tell the difference! Unfortunately, I thought the soup was lacking a distinct flavor. It was definitely spicy, but I felt that was the only«flavor» of the soup. A bummer, because the noodles were legit. I also swapped out pork for beef for $ 1 more, but I thought that the beef was pretty boring as well. They were pretty tough and tasteless cuts of stew meat. Wouldn’t recommend the substitution. I did, however, appreciate the ample amount of vegetables and cabbage. The shrimp fried rice was likewise pretty generic and bland, I thought. I was expecting some more flavor to distinguish it from an average fried rice dish. And the shrimp in the rice are small shrimps, not the normal-sized ones. Overall, I think that the place has potential, but it needs to find a way to add a lot more flavor to the dishes to make them memorable! Especially with those hand pulled noodles, which I would love to have again! The noodles were definitely the standout of the place; I’d love to see them be the focus of the menu. Maybe also make use them for chow mein or something like that.

I tried the fire bowl. I took it to go. It was very tasty, not that spicy. I really enjoyed it. I’m a big guy and the large fire bowl was more than enough. I didn’t eat the side of fried rice. One down side, the restroom smelled a little funky. I will return.

Went there for the first time this past weekend. Ordered the fire bowl, fried rice, and teriyaki chicken. The fried rice and teriyaki chicken were good. The fire bowl could have a lot more portions of the beef and shrimp. Overall it was good. The place looks great to actually dine in, the workers are very polite and greet you as soon as you walk. Nice place

My husband has gotten take-out from here and twice and each time it has been delicious! It is definitely somewhat fusion, as the fried rice has jalapenos(perhaps that’s the fire part? :)) and pickled carrots that are a little spicy – it was different and so good! The portions are great, the prices are fair, and the service(from my husband) is incredibly friendly. Places like this definitely make me want to leave a review and to help spread the word. We’ve gotten the Chicken Teriyaki bowls and Combo Fried Rice with Chicken and Pork – yum! Fast, fresh, friendly, delicious – what more do you need?! Call ahead or order and pick-up – they will be quick and you won’t be disappointed!
