They need to clean their tables and chars they were very sticky like if they haven’t been cleaned in forever, besides that the food was really good. Definitely coming here again but maybe doing take out this time. P.s: The owner hides his good red hot sauce in the back so you have to ask for it.

Eight of us Came to Mexicana for the first time. What a fantastic place! The food and hospitality were beyond our expectations. The chili relleno, delicious, enchiladas, wonderful and the salsa was so tasty. We fell in love with Francisco, the owner. What wonderful service, warmth and terrific humor. Thank you for a great meal and time, Francisco.

I went for breakfast on Sunday. I had what I always have for Mexican breakfast. Chorizzo and eggs. It was fine. There was nothing wrong with it but I’m still looking for that spectacular hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. This is not it. Ever since I moved out of Highland Park and to the Valley I have been searching. I’m sure it’s out there.

Yes! This place is so goooood! I had a number 18, pollo. Loved it. And the owner is the sweetest man alive, and really funny and attentive! We had a great conversation about his daughter and other things. He reminds me of my dad haha. So sweet. I’ve lived in Van Nuys for two years but I never seem to eat up here because I always make food at home. But I came with a friend and we loved it! Yum!

If your looking for some authentic Mexican food… This is the spot. The carne Asada is all I eat. They have a special seasoning on it that makes it unlike any other Mexican food place. Honestly best Mexican food I’ve had in the valley !!

New Mexican Go To Spot, Hurray! There is a lot of good Mexican in LA, and this is our new favorite. We found this place on Unilocal after a play date with friends. We all showed up hungry and with 3 tired kids. While we wrangled our kids we talked to the guy at the register who turned out to be the owner, a cool friendly guy named Francisco. While we waited we ate the homemade chips and salsa. Perfect Salsa, very spicy, but not so spicy that you can’t eat the whole basket of chips. I love salsa. If your salsa is perfect, I’m already happy. The food came fast and was really good. I had the enchildas. One beef one cheese. Both great. Husband had beef tacos. Also soo good. Our group of kids were tired and a little unruly, and Francisco came over and offered us candy, more salsa, and whatever we needed. He joked with my son and made us all feel at home. My picky eater son ate EVERYTHING. Win. We will be back soon.

This little Authentic Mexican restaurant is amazing. Owner operating service, very genuine, nice and friendly. Their food is extremely delicious, although I’m not a big fan of Mexican food. I’ll definitely come back here when I’m around.

Pros: + The staff is friendly + Free chips and salsa Cons: — The salsa sucks — Cash only(C’mon!) — The food is mediocre leaning towards bad This place has some of the the blandest Mexican food I’ve ever tasted. I might be a bit elitist when it comes to Mexican food since I dated a Mexican girl for a few years and got to try a lot of home made Mexican dishes, but it baffles me how this place has such good reviews. I’ve been here three times and each time I have been disappointed. I keep coming back because my coworkers like it and I’m not one to burst anyone’s bubble, but man the food here blows. I had a burrito, the nachos and tacos. None of these items were good to me. It’s hard to mess up with mexican food. Just season your meats right, have good sauce and you can make it work. The meats are dry and bland and their sauce tastes like ketchup. Some of the pictures of the food posted here look good, so when I am inevitably forced to come back I might try something else and hope this place can redeem itself. I might have just picked some bad items on the menu, but I mean c’mon. Burritos, tacos and nachos should be good at a Mexican restaurant!

First time here and I already want to go back. I had the pozole which was really good, I would order it again for sure. My husband ordered the menudo so I got to try it also. I haven’t found a place where the menudo is as soft and flavorful as the one you get here.

I recently moved near here and was craving some mexican food so my bf and I decided to come here based on Unilocal reviews.(I’m a Unilocaler :)) Was not disappointed! WE actually came back twice again. The best has been the enchiladas michoacanas! We ask for them to be crispy but the flavor is so so good! If you are looking for some mexican food this is your place!

Should definitely try their food here because I’m not Hispanic but I love their refried beans here and their tacos are so tasty. Besides Sirenita place on sherman way this is another place that I’ve really enjoyed their beef tacos. I continue to go here every time I get a craving for tacos and also it’s location is remote but the people working in this place are just so wonderful.

First time here! Closest and best reviews I’ve come by. I’ve been craving pozole and I definitely got some here. Ordered a medium to go $ 8.75. Brought it back and dived in. Absolutely delicious and I’ll definitely be back.

If you are looking for a place to get Mexican food, stop searching for another place. You found it. Got myself a burrito and a carne asada taco, and I’m already planning on when to go back. Had a chat with a man who I think is the owner, and he was extremely nice. He knows his stuff. Will be taking friends back to this place for sure. Oh yeah, the salsa there is amazing.

We were starving and craving hard shell tacos. Came across this place on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. I’m glad we did, we now found our taco place in our area. The hard shell tacos were perfect and the carne asada taco had a lot of flavor. The tortilla seemed handmade. When I placed the order over the phone, the man was very nice, I found out he was the owner. I decided to call him after we ate the food to let him know how much we enjoyed it. He was very appreciative that I called. We will see you again soon!

$ 4,00FOR A SIDEOFBEANS? A flour tostada side of beans and a soda cost me over $ 15,00 that is sad, lucky I was not that hungry and only got my son food or elese I could of spent $ 30,00 for lunch at this hole in the wall run down neighborhood. The tostada shell was good and freshly made and the rest was ok but the price was no way worth it, we eat out a lot and will not go here again!

This place is the quintessential«hole in the wall.» It’s the kind of place your friend recommends, and you go, and then you thank your friend. It’s tucked in the middle of a non-descript strip mall in the middle of the valley. The décor is simple. But the food is pretty darn good. I’ve been twice, and had a carne asada burrito both times. The first one had guacamole, which wasn’t great(hence the one star deduction), so the second time I skipped the guacamole. The carne asada is flavorful and fresh. It came with some chips that were tasty. They have a small salsa bar next to the counter. Both times the lady behind the register was extremely nice and my food came out within a few minutes. Since it’s pretty close to work it’s now my go-to burrito/taco place.

I’ve been looking for good Mexican food around where I live… like a” Go to spot” and this place is it so far(½). I ordered burritos(Cali 1– Asada/Cali lengua), enchiladas plate and a side of beans n rice. I also ordered horchata drink. The burritos where . The meat tasted good and was cooked well. You can tell they do a good job prepping it. Also the portion of all the ingredients where balanced and complimented each other . Horchata was also tasty. Good horchata taste but not too sweet or watered down. The enchiladas where good according to my wife once she got all the way into the plate. She was saying 3 starts at first but then changed her mine. Here’s why they didn’t get a 5. I believe to get a five the location has to be prime and inviting. This one is not but can’t blame the owners too much. It’s the neighborhood. My recommendation is order out to eat.

First time here and I ordered the dinner combo #5 Chile relleno and… there is no «Chile» in it… smh all batter and cheese no chille. Paid $ 9.50 for a «chille relleno» combo and medium horchata. Not worth it :(
