The food was disgusting. The worst Mexican food I have ever had. Service was so slow and it was not busy so no reason to have horrible service.

We eat here quite often. We have found the staff to be quite friendly and the service great. Not sure where all these negative reviews are coming from. We have never seen any worker there with a bad attitude. The food is great. We are going tonight to celebrate my son’s girlfriend’s birthday. There will be about 10 of us. We’ve brought large groups here before for celebrations and have had no problems. Prices are quite reasonable.

Wow! I have to say the worst meal I have ever paid for. My husband and I thought we would try it, I think a friend had ordered chips and salsa and a taco there for lunch and thought it was okay. The service and the décor was nice and that earned the one star I gave. The meals are way over priced for the quality of food. I think free food would be overpriced! The chips were stale, the salsa came from a can. I think the whole meal came from a can! I ordered the Enchiladas Verde. The beans were watery and tasteless, the rice was just as tasteless. They say that the meal comes with a small salad. For the salad there was a small spoon of iceberg lettuce that looked like it had been through a garbage disposal with sour cream-ish looking dressing on it. I have to admit, I didn’t taste it. The enchiladas had never seen the inside of an oven. The corn tortillas had the consistency of being soaked in water(really like play-dough, I had never seen tortillas like that). The chicken was from a can with red sauce mixed in, no cheese, and a canned, watery green looking sauce on top. Plus the whole meal was cold when presented to me, as was my husband’s meal. I didn’t taste his but he was complaining about the same things with his meal. He had tacos with flour tortillas and it looked equally as bad to mine. Needless to say, but we did not eat but a couple of bites of this slop. I really do not understand how this place can stay in business! Please, learn from my mistake and never step foot in in this place! Yikes!!!

Front door states«serving food from open to close since 1992». The door also states open 11:00AM. We called 3 times after 11:00AM to notify them we had a large party(16) coming for lunch, but no answer. We went to the restaurant at 11:30AM and nobody was around. My coworker peeked into the kitchen and all she saw was filth covering the hard taco shells sitting on the counter. One man came out, but didn’t help us because he had to place all of the outdoor patio furniture that was in the dining room on the sidewalk first. He did mention that the cook was not there. We stood for 10 mins. waiting for him to acknowledge us and then we decided to leave. WOW! We are so glad we didn’t eat here. 45 mins. after opening, we couldn’t even be seated, let alone served and the indifference displayed by the employee was shocking. Time for this place to close! BTW, the posts on Unilocal that are good appear to be fake. There’s no way there can be this large of a difference from one day to the next. Or maybe they have friends and relatives add those.

So although the food here is not very good and is over priced, my family orders here due to the proximity to our house. I called in an order today and specified what kind of meat I wanted on the order(ground/shredded beef) and was replied with, not once, but twice«yeah that’s how it comes.» Like it’s common sense and it wasn’t in a polite way. I said«Oh, it doesn’t specify on the menu.» And Monica, the manager/owner replied«Well I don’t know what menu you are looking at» snidely. I then told her«Ok because of you are being rude I am not going to order from you.» And she simply said«Ok, bye.» and hung up the phone. Customer service is EVERYTHING when you run a business. These people seriously lack it. Long story short– food slightly better than taco bell, horrible service/management, and an I don’t give an eff attitude. La Costa by Van Mall is superb. Highly recommend and not much further away. Great food, same price as this joint, and they actually care about customer service. Thanks, Monica, for keeping me from wasting another dime at your place!

We had an outstanding experience here. The staff from owner to waiters were very welcoming. From the moment we were seated, the service was exceptional. It took just moments for our drink orders to arrive. Just 3 or 4 minutes later the food came. I was thrilled with the very traditional style cooking. The enchiladas were well flavored and the tomatilla sauce was bursting with flavor. My dinner mate was equally thrilled with her arroz con pollo. There was no problem getting extra mushrooms and the portion size was generous enough to supply the next day’s lunch. We highly recommend this family restaurant to anyone looking for true authentic Mexican food.

Very disappointing. The chips and salsa were good but the entrees were both VERY bad. The fish tacos were literally fish sticks, and the burrito we ordered was way too salty. Then we had to wait up front for 5 minutes to pay for our gross meals. Save your money!

Don’t waste your time! Service was terrible and when the server did speak to us she had an attitude. The chips & salsa were really good but the entrées were mediocre.

It pains me to give this place a single star when at one time it was a 4 — 5 star place. Some must still be returning on the strength of long past memories of good meals You’ll get better food by staying home and having frozen Mexican dinners. Even the refried beans were a failure, watery, thin, and tasteless. The chicken fajita had serious issues, 25% oil, 25% onion, 25% over cooked mystery meat, 20% cheap seasoning, and maybe 5% green pepper. I will not be back.

When my boyfriend and I went in here the place was super dark, it was really depressing. The food was horrible, probably the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had. The guacamole looked like it was about two weeks old because it was brown and the lettuce looked old too. My boyfriend ordered some fajitas that were covered in oil and the beans tasted like bland canned beans. Never going back here again.

Not impressed. The service was terrible. We came in and stood there for 5 minutes in an empty restaurant before being acknowledged. The cook was in the back on his cell phone. When we finally got sat the person didn’t ask if we needed a high chair as I was holding a one year old. He also did not say welcome or hello, just said«two?» And walked away. We then had to ask the server who also didn’t offer a high chair or a welcome. The food was blah and the lettuce was wilted. Before we left the server made sure to insult my nephew by saying«she» needs to expand her vocabulary because HE had said«hi» to her several times. Maybe you and your restaurant should take notes from the one year old and actually learn how to greet people! Will NOT be going back.

Don’t really understand what’s going on here. I moved to the neighborhood two years ago and thought this would be my new spot but it’s never open! I swear, I drive by everyday, sometimes more than once. I really don’t understand how they’re in business.

The food was really pricey for Mexican food. Average meal is like 9 bucks up to 14. I got the steak fajitas and the $ 14 price and I was super disappointed when the meal came. My fajitas was like 90% onions 5% green pepper and 5% steak. I had to dig through the onions to find any meat at all. So already I had no plans on returning. When I got home I had the worst stomach pain I’ve ever experienced in my life! So I probably got some weird food poisoning as well. Save your money and you stomach and don’t go here.

I will never go there again. The place should be shut down. Pretty sure they served me a plate with a small pile of salad which a rodent had urinated in. Notified the health department and heard nothing. On a previous trip two men were allowed to sit at a table and fight. I got up to take my baby to the car while my husband grabbed our food and the waitress did nothing about it.

Me and my wife go here at least each month. Within walking distance of of house is really nice too. Great chips and the bean dip is spot on. Friendly service and the food is always fresh, hot, and quick to serve. We need to support local small business’s that employ our neighbors. We will be back soon. Thanks David

Been coming here since 2006 with my husband. Love the people, love the food, love the drinks. I always get fajitas and my husband always gets a burrito. We’re in Vancouver, so it’s not the most authentic. The most authentic Mexican food I’ve had has been in San Diego, so don’t expect the world people, you’re in Vancouver, Washington!

Stopped in for a small lunch and ordered chips, salsa and guacamole. Chips were as good as it gets if you prefer thick chips like are served in Mexico. They have decent salsa, nothing to write home about. Same with the was much to puréed for my taste. Not bad, not great. reasonably priced and just OK.

This is by far my favorite Mexican restaurant in Vancouver. Family owned and operated. They treat you like one of their own. I have been going there every Wednesday for 7 years with my coworkers. And plan on many of more. Plus they have free wifi!
