Really liked staying here… Josh, the innkeeper sent us explicit directions how to find the lodge and how to find the cottage where we were staying, also the combination to the front door. We were delighted with the rural location, it’s located about 10 minutes from the small town of Vashion. Much thought has gone into the landscaping which the deer love to nibble on. The cottage is roomy and cold healthy drinks were waiting for us in the refrigerator. Wifi was great, the bed was super comfortable and every thing was very clean. Josh met us outside the next morning and invited us in for breakfast and what a breakfast! Started out with homemade muffins right out of the oven, followed with a blueberry yogurt parfait, this was followed with scrambled eggs, English muffin with butter and jam. We felt we were eating so healthy! We had a great two day stay and Josh really treats his guests like royalty and he gave us great info about the island. What did I like best about the lodge? #1 was Josh and his hospitality, the quiet rural atmosphere, the comfortable bed and etc. What could make it better? Maybe a microwave, maybe a rooster crowing… maybe a wolf howling… no strike that last one he might eat the deer.

My husband, doggie, and I needed a quick escape from Seattle, so we chose Plum Lodge on Vashon Island. The charm of Plum Lodge is the innkeeper, Josh, and the location– rural, beautiful, quiet. Josh is incredibly gracious and delightful… and, I must say, a phenomenal breakfast chef! Not only was he able to accommodate our dietary restrictions and requests with ease, but also his breakfasts were a foodie’s delight! On Saturday we had a four(or wad it more?) course breakfast with fruit, muffins, eggs with spinach and mushroom, and a big surprise… homemade rugelach! For those in the know, this is like… wow! On Sunday we needed a low carb high protein breakfast – only the best from Josh. An egg and yummy goat cheese soufflé, chicken sausage, delightful oranges, and a delicious grilled tomato(no grease… none!). We stayed in the Cottage… beautifully appointed in soothing tones, warm, cozy, and terrific light. We want to return in May– this will be my painter’s paradise! And… about our doggie. She was treated like a princess. She is very happy, too. We can’t wait to return. Thank you, Josh!

My husband and I recently relocated to the Pacific Northwest and were unable to return home to the Midwest for the Holidays. Because of this, we thought it would be fun to take a ferry to one of the many Puget Sound islands just outside of Seattle. We eventually settled on Vashon Island due to its close proximity(only a 20 minute ferry ride from West Seattle’s Fauntleroy harbor or from downtown Seattle during rush hours via water taxi). The island is quite rural with more sheep and goats than humans. This is obvious with the limited lodging options for couples. I was happy to discover Plum Lodge B&B through Trip Advisor. I immediately booked the available Colvos Suite for the busy holiday weekend. The B&B is very small and consists of this suite connected to the main house, and a separate cottage. It’s location is remote and off the beaten path of Reddings Beach Road that has moss growing down the middle of it and veers south when it reaches the Sound. The B&B’s grounds have several gardens and trees, while being surrounded by nature featuring several nearby trails. The lodge’s growth is visible with future plans for new gardens and lodging within the years to come. We arrived during the check-in hours of 4:00 — 6:00 pm. Our host Josh was very accommodating and quick to meet us outside. He walked us to our suite and explained all the necessary details. It was obvious that he thoroughly thought through all the details involved in designing the suite with a keyless keypad with a unique code for each visitor, bathroom towel warmer, TV with Netflix/Amazon Prime/cable, wireless internet, individual heating, and gentle Gilchrist & Soames’ Thymes Naia bath toiletries. The room features an outdoor deck with seating, dining area, coffee maker with fresh Tully’s coffee, electric kettle with selection of Tazo teas, mini fridge filled with complimentary beverages and a desk with ethernet connection. My only additions would be a microwave and an outdoor fire pit, but I survived without. The room was very clean with no signs of dust or hair, while the bed was also very comfortable. A separate guest room is also present for a third guest(a small additional fee of $ 25 applies). For a foodie like myself, the Breakfast is just as important as the Bed. Josh prepared a wonderful snacks both mornings that met my gluten-free diet. I greatly enjoyed the chicken sausages, hazelnut-crusted poached pears with Greek yogurt, and freshly baked pastries like corn and almond muffins. We chatted with Josh who offered us some ideas of what trails and sites to check out nearby. We absolutely loved our stay at Plum Lodge and will be sure to stay here again when on Vashon Island in the future.
