The Barthender is the granddaughter of the owner she have no respect for nobody they select their customer, yes the same Hispanic Mexican Girl that is the Manager of the Venice Bistro, so rude and yell to everyone. She thinks it’s White and is racist with other breeds. She forgets where she and her family comes from, her culture that her blood is Hispanic. Whenever I was going to use the bathroom the manager follows me like if I were to steal something. crap service, never have what you wants to drink. You have to consume only what they have and they believe that they are better than the customers. They offend to my companion that is from Mexico DF and Me, kick us out of the place just because I told them that we deserve respect as clients we are. Then began shouting at me like a Madwoman.

Hello, I Love You … or rather I love watching Tony Fernandez front The Doors tribute band, Peace Frog, which played their final show here this month. The food here(How can potato skins disappoint?) is mediocre, but the live music last night was the kind to Light My Fire! So is the beachfront location. You’ll feel like you’re in a time warp when you Break on Through and savor the 60s rockin’ Roadhouse Blues, especially when you discover The Doors used to play here. People Are Strange, but it was a cool experience. Too bad this was the final night this band was playing here. The End.

The Best DOORS tribute band every Sunday I live near enough to Venice Ocean Walk that we often go on Sunday just to go and listen to the best Doors tribute band, Peace Frog, at 5:00. This is the same stomping ground of Jim Morrison, where better to go. No glamour.. kinda raw. but that is what feels so real about it. I just went to Peace Frog website and saw this place will change owners 12/2015, so go while they are still there.

You have to be kidding me. They NOW charge a cover to get in this dive. The has to be the nail on the coffin for Venice. Heroin addicts, ex cons, alcoholics, meth heads and they are charging a COVER!!!

We have been coming here for years to see a great Doors tribute band, Peace Frog, and this should not take away from their stellar performance. When did a less than 1oz shot become $ 12?! We were surprised with a hefty bill for light pours. The pitcher of beer we had cost a few bucks more than one shot of Jack/Crown And on top of it all they added in an 18% tip for the server — for a party of 4? I’ll come back to see the band but rest assured I won’t be buying my drinks from this place again. Poor form Venice Bistro.

First, our beer was warm. We ordered 2 pitchers and still the same. Second, a fly was in our pitcher of margarita. We didn’t notice until the very end. :x Third, the waitress charged me $ 41.50 for chips and salsa and the margarita pitcher with an automatic gratuity of 18% which equaled $ 6. OK, fine, but she then came back and said the pitcher of Margarita was actually $ 40 but would only charge me $ 30 but that I could leave her an extra tip. Yea. Never again.

If I could give this place lower than a 1 star I would. First issue with this place the beer was warm. Second issue came in the form of a maggot in my cup. We ordered a pitcher of Margarita and before I went to pour my it into my cup I notice something on the side of my glass. I slide it out with my finger and it starts to move. My whole party was disgusted and proceeded to leave. Avoid this place

They brought me a cold beer and my dog a bowl of cold water. Can’t complain, great hospitality.

You can take me out of Vegas, but you can’t take the Vegas out of me. Venice bistro was a good little getaway at the beach with… yes you guessed it… DRINKS! It was a little weird for me to not be able to have alcohol while being in the sun. I wanted a mojito or a piña colada while getting my tan on but this isn’t a pool in a Vegas casino, is it? We stumbled upon this place while venturing around the boardwalk. There was limited bar seating on the inside but there was an outside patio area full of tables. It seemed like everyone was outside. We ordered some shots of well tequila for $ 7.50 each. I ordered myself a pear cider(they don’t have apple cider) and it was really good! The ambience of the place was very relaxed, somewhat divey, but overall very casual/chill. The bartender didn’t really seem to be too interactive with us despite how we tried to engage with him. He did however give me us a free shot after he saw me eyeing some shots he was making — tequila with tajin, which looked delicious by the way! — and it was indeed very delicious. A good find on the Venice Boardwalk… A little pricey, but it IS a beach.

Drinks were over priced for the atmosphere. More like a dive bar with casino resort bar prices

Beautiful evening, friendly faces and lots of laughs. Always a nice place to stop on the boardwalk for live music, comedy show or just to grab a cold drink.

Sill a hole, I’m sure… Hope they got a new manager. The one I met gave me an old beer from a table he cleaned… Don’t eat or drink here.

If I could rate this a negative I would. The bartender was the owners son so he acted like he could cuss out out and be rude for no apparent reason. He got in our face and tried to fight us. Even the other bartenders were apologizing for his behavior. This was the most unprofessional place I’ve ever experienced and I’m not going to let it go. I’m going to contact the better business bureau, this was beyond ridiculous.

Hahaha wow, this place really blows. Came here early on a Saturday when it wasn’t even packed yet and yet had the slowest service possible. I got my first beer at the bar because the server didn’t have it together. This place is filthy. Gross. And I’m sure it makes decent business but there’s zero effort in cleaning it up. The food took over an hour to arrive, most likely because the server screwed up and just plain forgot(other tables arriving way later got their food first) because we reminded her twice… When it finally arrived, we asked for napkins an she said she’ll be right back with them. No, she forgot because she went in and then came out to take the order of another table. We got the napkins ourselves. Second round of beers took 40 minutes to arrive too. Maybe I’m expecting too much from a dive bar. But… call it Venice Dive Bar then. How can they possibly be a Bistro? And I hate that I can’t say I’m never coming back because it might be that one convenient spot for a beer when I really want one, but man this place sucks so hard.

Horrible Service for food, and bartenders are always rude. I’ve had problems here more than once but today was the last straw, and I’m not sure I’ll be coming back. My husband tried to order me the green iguana drink they have which is a Midori type margarita. The bartender(long dark and light brown hair petite girl… Possibly Hispanic I’m not sure) She said they don’t have that(I’m not hundred percent my husband didn’t say mojito though, which they were out of, could of been our mistake) so he brings me back a margarita instead. She put it in a wine glass with a lemon?! I just wasn’t convinced they didn’t have the green iguana so I go back downstairs to ask about it and she rudely tells me no one asked me for a green iguana. So asks me if we have a tab, I give her my husbands name and she says rudely and other bartender agrees there is no tab under my husband. I go upstairs my husband says yes my tab is open down there. I go back downstairs and yes his tab is there and she somehow suddenly remembers. Being polite the whole time because I feel like I’m being difficult I just said ok that’s ok can I just get the green iguana then. so she throws down an apple juice cup and pours it with strait Midori… Umm a green iguana is a margarita style drink I’ve had it there many times before. It comes in a margarita glass with salt etc and mixed with other alcohol. So I go to another guy for some help. He is trying to help and then this old little hispanic lady from the back comes out and yells at me tell me what do you want! I’m shaking at this point in just complete frustration. Then she proceeds to tell me to look at the menu before I order a drink! As she points in the palm of her hand as if it’s a menu scolding me. I have never in my life had a server/whoever she was yell at me in a restaurant. I said I just want a beer glass so I can drink from my husbands pitcher. I decided at that point we were not going to eat their food because I can’t imagine how difficult that would have been. But I do ask for some chips and guac… 15 minutes later or so waitress comes up to tell us they are out of guacamole, but would you like some chips and salsa? Umm no I would not like to pay for your chips and salsa at this point she should have just brought them to us for free how much could chips and salsa possibly cost?! Super unorganized and poorly managed. I’ve noticed this before but tried to give them chances. The only reason they stay in business is their location and the tribute band.

Stopped in for the New Year’s eve show with Peace Frog on Dec. 31, 2014. It was a great way to kick off the New Year! The Bistro is a great place for live music and beer!

I ate here today and my gosh do I regret wanting to try something different than the Ale house. This place is mind-numbing! It’s dirty and unorganized. And the staff seem to be high on crack. Friendly, but brain dead. The menu is very short and has no variety. Everything comes with rice and beans. And they only have one thing on the Side Order section: Rice and Beans. I asked for a mojito, they were out of mint. My friend asked for a club sandwich, they were out of those as well. Finally I ordered a Caesar salad with a side of fries, and only the fries showed up. I really wanted to get out of there so I didn’t even bother asking for my salad, just the check. We paid cash and he never brought our change. I had to ask for my change. Needless to say, I left no tip. I gave it to the musician that was playing outside instead. He was responsible for the only pleasant part of this lunch.

I am truly a huge«The Doors» Fan, and I have to say Jim Morrison would be proud to have Such a chill humble guy to reenact he’s poetry, and music by «Peace frog» Tony Fernandez, he’s got it down all the way to infamous #66 Jim Morrison Football shirt, alas he’s soul isn’t Jim Morrison’s, but you could bet your sweet ass it’s as close as the music, my only friend. Swing by for some booze, and good laughs, air filled with weed, and song, and take a trip to the other side, where for a moment in time you can surly escape back to the late 60’s in a little piece of California that’s never changed.
