Flynn’s On Venice Ave

Good, but not spectacular. We got a stuffed grouper entrée and a salmon special over risotto. But were cooked well and were tasty, but nothing that jumped out at us for the price. For $ 20 or so, this would have been great. Also, beer on tap came in a 10oz cup. These were 6% basic ipas, not a fancy Belgian or high alcohol beer. Big pet peeve of mine. An ipa belongs in a pint glass. Otherwise the atmosphere and service were good.

I really really hate to give bad reviews but the upside is that maybe Flynn’s will read the review and correct the issues. Flynn’s was a busy restaurant awhile ago. It’s pretty slow and quiet now and I understand why. We ate here a few months ago and weren’t happy but we decided to give it another try this week. Our waiter was lovely and very attentive… this review has nothing to do with him, except for one minor pet peeve I have that I’ll mention later. My husband ordered the scallops and I ordered the shrimp over pasta. The 4 scallops were served warm but the plate was basically a plate of butter. My shrimp were foul tasting… really bad. The pasta was drowning in butter. I don’t understand the recipes that are being used… tons of butter is not enjoyable. Everything should be fresh! I think the diners who frequent Venice Ave would flock to a farm to table type restaurant… Flynn’s could be just that… with just fresh, local ingredients. I’d love nothing more than for Flynn’s to be able to turn it around and have a packed house every night similar to other restaurants close by. The décor is adorable and the space is lovely. C’mon…we are rooting for you!!! ps the pet peeve I have is when I put cash in the bill folder and a waiter/​waitress asks if I need change. I think it’s rude to ask. just take the money and bring me my change. I’ll leave the tip after you deliver my change. Tks for listening!

Excellent! We enjoyed the Burrata Mozzarella Caprese Salad, Pan Seared Scallops with risotto cooked to perfection, and Vodka Penne. So happy we decided on Flynn’s on Venice Ave. I agree with it being voted the best new restaurant in Venice, FL. My husband said it was the best meal he’s had in Florida! Highly recommend!

My step mom in law and I came here for lunch on March 14. I had the red pepper bisque and a garden salad which were both incredible!!! Debbie was our server who I cannot give enough praise to! My stepmom in law was unsure of what wine she wanted and Debbie brought her out two small glasses and let her try. Debbie, you make dining out worth every penny!!! THANK YOU!!!

Everything is amazing and fresh. New favorite place! Shrimp Tartafelle is amazing and the soups are delicious!

Disappointed. Three Pastas came out cold, dry, tasteless and pasty. Soup was bland. Crab cake so so. Chicken special good. House wine just OK.

Fresh fresh fresh salads. Tender lamp chops. Crab cakes could have been cooked a little more. Crab bisque was the best.

Great food, great venue.
My husband and I stopped here while riding our bikes around Venice and walking on Venice Ave. We based our decision on other Unilocal reviews and we’re happy we stopped. Neither of us was interested in a heavy fried lunch, and Flynn’s offers a wonderful alternative.
We both had the soup of the day, which was delicious.
I had the beet/​chicken salad special, and he had the half sandwich/​Caesar salad special.
We were both comfortably full and enjoyed our meals.
It’s a relatively new restaurant and hopefully it will be successful and become a local favorite!
Would highly recommend it!

My wife and I just got back to Chicago from a horse show, we had lunch and then appetizers at Flynn’s this week. The food quality and preparation and presentation were perfect. The owners were there and working with the wait staff, who all were very helpful. I work stack this place up to any place in the West Loop, where we live.

Great food. Fabulous selections. Main course and the sides were very tasty.
Service was friendly and efficient. The visited our table and was very pleasant and welcoming.

Deliciously Lovely! Beautiful presentation, farm fresh flavors, yummy prices and fantastic wines ($ 5 for Happy Hour!) Peaceful and pretty atmosphere and just totally enjoyable! My mother is 95, and quite the foodie and she just said everyone should come to Flynn’s!

After reading the other reviews on Unilocal,we decided to give Flinns a try. We were not disappointed. The atmosphere and ambience were very relaxing and casual. Our waitress was attentive but not intrusive. My husband ordered the hamburger and substituted the macaroni and cheese for fries. He said both were very tasty. I ordered the crab and shrimp salad in a pita and was also very pleased. The only downside is that my husband tends to drink quite a bit with his meals and the sodas are sold by the can. Other than that it was a great experience.

I had met the owners when they were running the JAVA café and flower shop in South Venice, and heard they had opened this new restaurant. My only regret is that it took me so long to try it out. It was AMAZING!!! I went for lunch with a friend and ordered the POT ROAST WITH CHEESE sandwich, which came with fries and some salad on the side for just $ 9.00!!! How can you beat that??? The sandwich was so good, even my friend who had ordered the chicken wrap thought that mine certainly was the winner. Good service by Maria, and I will definitely recommend this place!!!

Has continued to improve (was very good before). Tastefully decorated and spacious. Delightful selection of wine (reasonably priced. They have a wine bar, that is not just an afterthought with a tasteful bar menu. The dining menu is remarkable for the quality of ingredients and graceful presentations. Susan, the owner, attends to every detail and is wonderful host. We have dined here several times,
A welcome addition to the community

A pleasant surprise in Venice, FL. Tastefully decorated, this restaurant serves a diverse menu and an excellent Airline Chicken with a very Italian Polenta (complete with pancetta and parmigiano). Desert was a fresh Blackberry Cobbler, not to be found in that «other» Venice. Worth the visit.

My mom has been a business owner on Venice Avenue for over 25 years after selling her fine dining restaurant in Connecticut. She is EXTREMELY picky when it comes to choosing restaurants. Flynn’s has become her/​our favorite go-​to lunch place on Saturdays. Try the burger for $ 10 served with bacon on a toasted brioche bun. The fries are mouth-​watering, and hand-​cut. Tasteful, lovely décor and limited outside seating. We have been back multiple times since trying this place on a whim a few months ago. It’s locally owned places like this that make Venice such a special place. Hopefully the locals support them over the summer.

I’ve been vacationing in Venice for more than 20 years. Flynn’s is excellent food, beer and wine only… BUT… best food on the Avenue! We had the grouper and swordfish. Amazing! The wine selection was perfect. One of us drinks white one red. Plenty to choose from. Do not overlook this great restaurant

Amazing wine selection, great food, great service. So happy to have a farm fresh menu choice in our community. Already one of my favorite new spots for lunch and tapas!
