Thanks John G. for your recommendation of the Banana Bread French Toast! It was THEEBEST. Service was EXCELLENT and I just think the very few negative reviews here were written by «upper crust people» that really missed the boat at The Upper Crust in Venice.

Excellent service, scents from the bakery & dishes. The banana bread French toast was as good as everyone says, and the Belgium waffle with crème fresh was out of this world!

Our third or fourth visit in two years, and the breakfast here never fails. Yes, its quaint, shabby-chic, but the breakfasts are outstanding. Today was Crab Cake Eggs Benedict, and a Greek Omelet for spouse; both were the best, ever. Great ingredients and quality make this place a «must visit» when we are in Venice. The cappuccino and pastries are also wonderful too.

I wish I could say this was flavor central, but alas. I was hungry on the avenue with my Greek girlfriend and ended up stopping for a late lunch. We started with a blueberry scone and heavy whipping cream — man oh man. Couldn’t get enough. Then, the croissant and quiche came. I wasn’t too moved by either. The quiche was quite heavy, much cheese there was. All in all, I would come back for a scone. Nice atmosphere in the middle of Venice ave.

Quaint little restaurant with decent food and service. Eggs Benedict was good but not great and the fruit was fresh and very tasty. Double chocolate brownie my husband got was beautiful and delicious but my key lime square was bland and not tart at all like you would expect. Overall decent place to eat and I would return of in he area again.

Good breakfast and lunch place. Fish tacos are excellent. Eggs Benedict very tasty also. Didn’t try any of the pastries, but they all look very good! Friendly service. Worth a stop!

Great service and food. I had a veggie breakfast bowl and it was super fresh and clean. The lattes are really good as well. My husband said his bagel was fresh out of the oven-yummy. Only thing-no free refills on coffee. Each cup of regular coffee is $ 2. We will defiantly be back!

My wife and had the pleasure of having breakfast this morning at the Upper Crust. This place is managed by a young group of energetic people serving us boomers and they do a fantastic job. This place is spotless and the food is terrific. The pastries are the best you will find anywhere. Treat yourself to a cappuccino and a blueberry scone and you won’t be disappointed! The friendly atmosphere and the energy from the staff is only surpassed by the high quality food they serve each day.

Go to Upper Crust for the scones. Light and crumbly with a lovely sugary crust. These are done so well — not dense, nor overly sugary. I would have loved real clotted cream rather than whipped cream, but that stuff is expensive here. A word of caution about the quiche — don’t expect the usual pie shape with a crust. This comes in a small loaf pan and is predominately melted cheese. Heavy and too filling and… Not quiche. More like a casserole

Whenever we are in town this is a must on my list! We love to either grab a quick coffee and a scone before walking around town or stay for breakfast and dine al fresco. The 3 egg omletes are fluffy and filled with ingredients! The pancakes are the size of the plate! This place is always busy, so make sure you don’t mind putting your name in for a few minutes! We will always go back!

Very cute place for a nice breakfast. While I did not have nay of the unctuous offering in the case at the front door, the endless line picking up carry-out proves that they are a must next time. The tea service was nice with several choices, the banana bread french toast was«off the hook» suggest sharing that one. Wonderful service and broad selection.

Fabulous fabulous fabulous! This place is quaint and shabby chic so when my party of 15 walked in I was worried. No need. The staff was great, good with the kids and VERY accommodating. The food… oh the food. So good! I had a scone and it was delicious. Then the veggie quiche — delicious! Coffee was strong but good. Overall it was a great experience. My parents have a house here now and we will definitely be back. Can’t say enough good things. Thank you for the great service and a delicious meal.

The bridge from the Floridian mainland to Venice Island is, in fact, a time machine. You begin your morning in 2014 and *bing* one hundred yards later, you’re back in 1920. No, Hortense, there are no penny-farthing bicycles nor are there gas lamps. The cars look modern. I see Nike footwear and smartphones. It just feels old, like a kindly uncle’s cable-knit sweater vest, worn but well-loved; calm and reassuring. And if you’re looking for breakfast on Memorial Day, you could walk into the Upper Crust and feel like you were in a restaurant from between the wars… the World Wars, that is. The room is long and skinny, two tables and a walkway wide, and the ceilings — the ceilings stretch all the way to heaven. This might be why it feels olde worlde. Ceilings are so much lower thesedays, all the better to A-C you with. The wait staff is mostly mature plus, the décor is decidedly shabby chic(as others here described), and you really feel like you’re peddling back a few decades. But don’t be lulled into daydreams of doing the Charleston or meeting a flapper. The food is decidedly not antique, servers are pleasant and efficient, and the coffee strong enough to tell you they cater to modern taste. The interesting kicker to breakfast here is the regular passage of trays of fresh-baked wonders from the bakery out back to the shopfront. Scones. Then macaroons. Then muffins, and more scones. Simple cooking theater like that completely makes a place, setting it apart from plastic corporate food troughs. It gives a place life. Oh, and my favorite, they have cloth napkins. Ask nicely and they might even tell you how to find a speakeasy.

My girlfriend and I came to visit the Venice/Siesta Key area for a week and on our very last day we decided to try Upper Crust for breakfast! WEWISHWEFOUNDTHISSPOTSOONER! Oh my goodness. Not only is the presentation beautiful and colorful — but the food was OUTSTANDING!!! Flavorful, cooked to perfection! The waitstaff was friendly and fast. I had a chocolate chip pancake & eggs Benedict and it came with fruit. Look below for a photo! My girlfriend ordered chocolate chip pancakes and home fries. SOGOOD. My girlfriend ordered a dream bar, a brownie and a cheesecake brownie to take home and she literally packed the box in her carry on– that’s how much she loved it! So, If you’re looking for an amazing breakfast spot and awesome baked goods, DEFINITELY give Upper Crust a shot. I wish we had a chance to have them for lunch too — I bet we would have been JUST as impressed as we were at breakfast time.

Downtown Siesta Key breakfast place — fairly good sized and a large patio but I am sure this place is packed on busy mornings. We were there on a crisp chilly February day and were early enough to beat the crowd. Good food, nice sized omelets, perfectly poached eggs, lots of regulars and a decent ambiance, Grateful Dead playing for the background music. Some of their more specialty bakery type items looked good and seem popular, will be back to try those another day.
