Service was good but food not so much. Clam chowder is great but Caesar salad with shrimp was not good.

I had been here several times in the past while visiting the G parents… My recollections was: it was always a very dark pub with not that memorable cuisine. However I went back the other day at the urging of my grandmother who stated that of the other of all the restaurants«on the island» that this one was the most reasonably priced. The prices were fair, but the food was fabulous! I had a blackened fish sandwich(tilapia, I believe), and my boyfriend enjoyed his burger. The french fries were outstanding… They were seasoned with(something?) delectable. My grandmother enjoyed her French onion soup, which was loaded with cheese. They have remodeled and it’s much more modern and bright now. The one thing that stands out especially is the old-style cigarette dispenser in the back of the bar… several people were taking pictures of it while I went to the bathroom. I would certainly go back again, good work, TJ Carney’s!

Best French Onion Soup I’ve ever tasted. I get it every time I go! Please don’t ever take it off the menu!

Honestly, I cannot believe the horrible reviews I am reading of this place. I was lucky enough to be treated here for lunch today. My friend recommended the REUBEN sandwich, saying that was the best he ever had(contrary obviously to what some others wrote) and boy, am I glad I listened to his advice. That Reuben was out of this world. I had never seen it served open like that with cheese melted on top — just as good as it gets!!! The fries as my side were also excellent. As was the service we received from a young man named Nathan. He was happy to announce he was single, and with his sparkling personality and good looks, I am sure quite a few young ladies will go check him out!!! Great lunch, so happy I did not listen to those nay-sayers!!! I highly recommend this place!!!

Ok food. The coffee was cold, my Reuben was cold and dry. Everyone elses food in my party seemed ok. Probably would not go back. We went because every other restaurant was closed on Sunday. This was an old review… I guess they are closed now.

Had cornbeef and cabbage, it was terrible. It had no flavor, very bland. Servers were nice, but they did not know the menu, and acted like it was a job, and not the greatest place to work.

Consistently terrible food and service. The witches that work here will help businesses around them get more customers. If you consistently want bad food and bad service, come on down to Carneys. This place is a DUMP!!! I heard they closed and if they did, good and I hope they have new owners.

Food would probably get 3 stars, but the entertainment knocks it up to 4. TJ Carney’s is a great family spot for St. Patrick’s Day,(expect 30 to 45 minute wait). Go when Ken McBride«himself» is playing. He’s a wonderful showman, with traditional Irish music, funny jokes, and a great rendition of Phantom of the Opera. The burgers are good all the time, and on St. Patrick’s Day they have a yummy version of chicken pot pie. Our service was good, although it was extremely busy for the holiday.

Just ate here. The clam chowder was fantastic. Was not happy with the chicken pub pie. Did not seem to have much taste. The waiter, Matthew, was great. Would definitely go back for the chowder but try for a different entrée.

Stopped for lunch. The sign said to wait for the hostess to seat you. Waited five minutes, with wait staff just looking at me, before she arrived. Did get seated but no waiter. When the hostess walked by and saw my plight she found someone to wait on me. He did OK after that. Had the corned beef sandwich. Lean but dry. About what you’d expect from bar food. The place is popular, but I won’t be back.

Service — extremely poor Food — how can you mess up a burger? Well, ask them… by the way it was $ 10! This place was so bad that the water even tasted bad…

My wife and I were at carney’s this weekend service was so-so nice, we ordered the potato skins as an appetizer nothing special, actually came out a little cold and undercooked. I asked the server if the bartender knew how to pour a good Guinness(having had a Guinness in every Irish pup I’ve gone to) she said oh yea but to my dismay the bartender poured me a Guinness in a bass glass on a slow afternoon. I don’t know why they didn’t have Guinness glasses in an Irish pub it was not properly poured at all very disappointing. My wife ordered an ok roast beef sub meh, and I will say my open faced corned beef reuben was pretty tasty. All in all I think the owners thought it would be cool to open up an Irish pub forgetting what an Irish pub is all about instead they opened up a cheap Irish themed sports bar with no attention to Irish details.

It appears that this Pub may have reached its final demise or its just waiting until the season kicks in. Was in there this Friday afternoon, it was so dark inside that I thought I’d ask the bartender when the next picture was going to start or where the menus in brazille were… Its very unfortunate because the place does have potential.

Band music most nights make it the only fun spot in Venice. Drinks are average. Food is Sports Bar type — OK but nothing to write home about. Dance the night away. A fun place, inside or out.

At around 2:30PM on a Saturday afternoon, where oh where is there to eat in Venice that is serving lunch, and is dog friendly. Not too many places, and believe it or not, a lot of the places are closed around 2 or 3 and then open back up for dinner at 4 or 5. What does that mean? Your options are greatly limited. The first time I was in Venice, I ate down the street, and wanted to try something different. I walked everywhere in the heat with my hubby and my little dog to find a place. One other place was a possibility, Pineapples Island Grill, but we picked this place because it was the less expensive of the two. We just ordered potato skins and a burger and split it. I was not impressed though. There really was not much appealing options, but most of these places that had lunch were just sandwiches and salads, nothing more of substance. I like something a little bit more at lunch and not at dinner because I don’t like to eat so late. Our service was just okay as well. After walking around, the street over has a few more restaurants. Wish we could have been able to check one of those out. Maybe next time.

Worst fish& chips ever. Service was slow. Long time to wait for a beer when they weren’t even bust. This place sucks!

It’s open later than most of the restaurants in Venice, at least that I know of. It was a nice looking place and was busy. I came to watch some football and have a brew while on break. I ended up ordering chicken wings too. The wings were good, pretty standard stuff. I can’t really complain, I wasn’t expecting much. I can’t give the place more than a 3 star rating until I have something else, maybe a house specialty.

They do have the best onion soup I’ve ever had. Everything else I’ve had is good, but nothing mind blowing. I like it because it’s dog friendly and one of the only resturaunts downtown that’s open later. :)

We came here for dinner on our day trip to Venice Beach, Florida. We decided on irish food because it seemed to be 1 of 2 restaurants still open past 6pm that had outdoor seating(we have 2 dogs) and we already went to the italian place for lunch(check the other review.) We had the Irish Wontons for appetizer, my girlfriend had the mahi mahi and i had the corned beef. The food was ok, a little bland. It was a little confusing because there was alot of asain food on the menu which you’d never expect to show up on a IRISH menu. Service was friendly but it took a little longer than expected and we ended up catching the tail end of the sunset by the time we got back to the beach. All in all, A-OK, would i go back? Only if the italian place is closed.

We enjoyed a late Friday night dinner at T J Carney’s a real«Irish» pub. Two of us had a Reuben($ 9.95) that is listed on the menu as open faced. My friend asked for his made as a regular sandwich and I did too. This was absolutely the very best Reuben I’ve ever had. Lean corned beef and plenty of it, fresh rye bread and just the right amount of sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and plenty of Thousand Island dressing on the side. It was wonderful with an on tap Guinness Stout. My wife had a California press($ 9.95); Turkey, ham, cheese, avocado, and spinach leaves on a baguette pressed Panini style. It was very good but could have used a bit more of whatever type of dressing was on it. It was large enough that she brought half home. We also had a hamburger($ 8.95) which was tasty and well prepared. All sandwiches were served with good, but nothing special French fries. The interior is kind of classic pub with a good sized bar and mostly comfortable booth style seating. There is outdoor dining available for those that like their food with 90% humidity and some exhaust fumes thrown in. How do you tell who is a Florida tourist? Is it the BRIGHT red sunburn or eating dinner in 90 degree heat? Our waitress was pleasant and efficient and made it clear we were welcome to stay if we wished to remain longer for the live music that started at 8PM. It’s a nice friendly place with well prepared food and would be worth a return trip just to enjoy another Reuben.
