For those of you who have been to any Rita’s before, you already know you can’t go wrong with a cup of anything from here. Rita’s is the s***! They started small further west around PA and have expanded like crazy throughout CT. Simply because their treats are so refreshing, especially on a hot day! Their mint chip cream ice is the bomb.

Today was my first visit, and I don’t even know what to say… That was like getting slapped with a piece of Heaven

Nothing better than an Italian ice on a sweltering hot day. Love the pear italian ice mixed with vanilla custard!

I’ve lived in the vernon area for years and had no place this place existed until a coworker recommended to me. I tried the custard ice cream and frozen ice– both 100% fantastic. I will never go to anywhere else now! The only thing I disliked was the powerful bleach smell of the restaurant.

Rita’s is the best for an after dinner treat. First time I’ve been to the Vernon location and it didn’t disappoint. Lemonade and black cherry or strawberry are my faves with Swedish fish and sour patch kids not far behind. The staff was super nice, too.

To be honest, I don’t like the smell of this place when I enter. It’s either the cleaning supplies or desserts. The gelati is amazing. Always friendly service. The custard is eh, like butter heavy whipped cream. Best for summers on a hot day. There are limited seating. Good amount of variety and choices to choose from.

Took the girls there after school for a surprise treat. Feeling summery and Rita’s is such a perfect way to celebrate a Friday afternoon. Everything on the menu is wonderful!!!

Really delicious(summer) treat! I have only been once, so I stuck to the original, chocolate/vanilla twist instead of the other more fruity options.

Oh Rita’s… How I love thee. This was my first visit to the Vernon location,(I had been at a car show/meet at Stafford Springs all day) and boy oh boy was the cold deliciousness welcome! I frequent the Southington location probably more than I should admit and I’ll be sure to stop by the Vernon spot again if I’m ever in the area! It’s nice that this location actually has an inside area where you can sit down(the Southington one is a walk up type design) when it’s really hot it’s nice to be in air conditioning while eating a refreshing Italian ice or other frozen concoction! The seating is a bit limited but there is always room to stand around outside!

One of the highlights of summer for me is Rita’s. Cold, refreshing«water ice»(it’s like a more substantial slushee), plus excellent vanilla, chocolate and specialty custards. You can have them separately, or together! My favorite is the Gelato, which layers the ice and custard. I personally love the cotton candy ice, but that’s probably the 11 year old in me. They’ve also had some truly strange flavors recently, like Swedish Fish and Peeps. The strange thing about this location is that it feels very sterile and antiseptic, and smells like cleaner. I mean, that’s a good thing on one hand, right? It must be clean. On the other… I’ll eat mine outside.
