Tubby’s has been by the airport for 10 years, but this was my first visit. It is now my go to place for sandwiches. We got two small sandwiches to go which we fed three lite eaters with. Portions are ample to the price and the taste of both were great. Had a meatball sub with cheese on white. It was hot, delicious, and had a unique taste I couldn’t place. Maybe the garlic seasoning another Unilocaler mentioned? Whatever it was, I liked it. The other sandwich was the classic Italian sub. If you already it «all the way,» they’ll put everything on it. Don’t do that. An Italian should come with o/v(no mustard and mayo) and perhaps other seasonings to chef’s taste. Regardless, I really liked this sandwich. The bread is soft with a hint of crispiness on the outside so that sandwiches kind of like melt in your mouth. The décor is low key dive without a view, but that didn’t matter because nobody ate there.

Subs are huge, staff is friendly and the bread is fresh! We got an Italian and tuna, both were fresh with crisp veggies. Great put of the way place if you are a sub connoisseur! :-)

Great big subs. The small ones are big enough for two people. Just look out for the seasoning, it is very high in garlic powder.

If you’re hungry and want a great sub Tubby’s is where you gotta go! The actual restruant is very small but the sandwiches are BIG! The regular size sandwich is about 18 inches. I usually get italian subs whenever I go to a sub restruant and after trying Tubby’s I was hooked. They serve about the same subs as most of the sub shops around town do like turkey, Italian, roast beef etc. as well as hot subs. They serve Coke prouducts and the bags of chips are larger than what you would find at a typical sandwich shop. I ordered the Italian sub with all the toppings and hot cherry pepper relish The bread was fresh and soft yet slightly crusty and the meats were very good too. While the meat is not top of the line like Boars Head, it’s still a lot better than a lot of the restruants around town. The veggies were crisp and fresh. I was so full I had to save the other half for dinner.

Tubby’s is delicious. Their subs are huge and inexpensive. Staff are nice and genuine. I haven’t been in a while but I see it is still holding its great reputation. It is the best sub place in Vero! I just wish they stayed open later.

I stopped by Tubby’s while passing through Vero Beach one day. I’m a fan of good subs, but after having a lot of sub-par ones I’m always leery about trying new places. Fortunately, Tubby’s had decent reviews. I checked over their menu and found a roast beef that looked appetizing, so I ordered that on wheat with a sweet tea and chips. I was warned by the cashier(I’m assuming he was Tubby…) that the tea was VERY sweet, and he wasn’t kidding… get half sweet and half unsweet and it should be about right if they keep to the current recipe. The staff was friendly and helpful, and seemed genuine. My name was called, and I took my sub back to the hotel to eat. Presentation was nothing to write home about… it’s a sub sandwich, nicely wrapped in white paper. Not fine dining, nor do I expect it to be. One bite later, I knew that Tubby’s is something special. The ingredients were excellent; veggies great, meat great, cheese was great. The bread… my goodness, the bread. Absolutely outstanding. And the sub was HUGE… and it was a regular, not a large. I only made it through half before I had to wrap up the rest and put it in the fridge. If there’s a complaint to be made, I’d say that the sandwich was messy. Not something you want to try eating in the car. However, that’s not a big deal to me. Tubby’s cuts all the way through the bread to make their sandwiches, unlike say Subway who cut most of the way then fold open. In Subway’s case, you end up with an inconsistent taste and usually a mouthful of dry bread on one side, and a mess of veggies and meat on the other. Tubby’s method is my preference, because you get a consistent bite and flavor across the entire sandwich. Speaking of Subway, they’re complete crap compared to this. I very, VERY rarely give 5 stars, and especially for a place I’ve only been to once, but I have a feeling that there is very little on Tubby’s menu that I’d genuinely dislike. Final word: Even if you’re not a sub fan, go anyway. You’ll turn into one.

This deli has gotten rave reviews from locals so I had to check it out. This is a good sub shop. I got a turkey bacon and a friend got the pastrami. The pastrami was huge and very good meat, tasty too. They make the bread onsite so it’s decent enough but I like a neat sub and here they cut all the way through the bread to make a sandwich. It was tasty and had plenty of innards, just a bit messy. I wanted to try the sausage and peppers but maybe next time as I was skeptical on how the sausage would taste. Lol. Too bad I didn’t see a Reuben on the menu, just the pastrami. Enjoy.

I’m new to Vero Beach and have been working my way through the different sandwich shops, and so far this is my favorite. The bread is soft yet crusty, the meat is fresh and tasty, and the vegetables were of a reasonably good quality. Portion sizes are ridiculously awesome. I actually weighed a large roast beef club and it came in at well over 2 pounds! If you need more food than that… well trust me, you don’t. There are a few tables there now, so you could eat-in if you want. Also, this place is definitely of the mom-and-pop, local business variety, which is great because eating here helps support the community.

I love this place and I make it a point to eat here any time I am in the vicinity near lunch. It is in a small strip center and there are no tables and chairs so it is to go only. I highly recommend the Fat Uncle David. And when they say Large they mean it-it will easily feed 2 people. I am surprised I had to add Tubby’s on here as it has been there for at least a couple years. They are not open for dinner and are closed sundays. This place is not fancy by any means but has good food for a good price.
