I have been to the restaurant a few times with my kids. They really like the pizza so I kept trying again despite the fact that the service is consistently beyond slow. The help has no urgency and it take a long time to get served. I’ll spare you the details but just trust me when I say forget it if you want to eat within a reasonable amount of time. So don’t ask me why I tried yet once again to give my business to this place but this time it was for delivery. I live approximately 2 miles from the restaurant and my kids just wanted pizza and an order of Calamari. I called in the order and was told 40 – 45 minutes. That was on a Sunday at 2:45pm. Can you imagine the food arrived at 4:15. I called 3 times during the wait and naturally was told«oh he’s on the way-he’s right around the corner». The 3rd time I called I asked to speak to the manager, so the manager gets on the phone and says yet again–«the driver will be right there and I am really sorry». So I ask what street is he on-and the manager doesn’t answer me he just replied«he will be right there». Of course, that turned out to be 10 more minutes. When the delivery person finally arrived of course the food was ice cold. It had to have been in the delivery car for at least 30 minutes. Yet that wasn’t the worst part. The Calamari was sent to us –literally-dumped in a white paper bag. No plastic container. No aluminum container-dumped entirely as is in a paper bag. I’ve never ever seen anything quite like it. I didn’t let my kids eat it, I mean who serves food like that? The manager could have been honest when I called and said«I am so sorry we were backed up and he is still 10 minutes away and I’m not going to charge you» or something/anything showing sincerity. Instead, he lied to me on my 3rd follow up call making me that much more infuriated. The bottom line, is next time there are so many other pizza and Italian restaurants in the neighborhood there is simply no good reason to go to this place ever again.

Food is top notch and sitting on the patio was very nice and open. The entrees are a little pricey but they give you hefty portions, wait staff was good until the end when we had to wait a bit to get asked about desert. I will definitely go back.

Great! Went there on Monday after my son’s hockey. .great service. We wanted wine and they overheard us, so they offered to go buy us the wine next door so our family could sit and relax. Kids had chicken fingers and fries… of which daddy stole most of. lol! I had the fried eggplant pain with fresh mozz… arugula and balsamic. Very fresh!.. not too much dressing, so as to not have my sandwich soggy. Hubby had a sandwich too… he was raving about. Had the pasta fagioli, was a little thicker than I’m used to but still delish! Def be back!

The very first time we tried this place we ordered the whole wheat pizza with grilled veggies. It was good. The veggies are nicely grilled and the whole wheat doe was airy and crispy. However, after trying some other things off the menu recently, I have to say I was disappointed. Mainly due to the heavy salt taste we tasted in all our food. We ordered take-out from here recently and all of it was very salty. The margherita pizza, the penne with grilled zucchini and veggies, broccoli rabe and sausage, spaghetti with meatballs, fried calamari(which they throw in a paper bag) a few other dishes that were specials. All of it was salty. At first we thought it may be just be the tomato sauce on the margherita pizza, but after removing most of the sauce, and tasting our other entrees, it was all salty. Word to the wise for this place, cut back on the salt in your ingredients. We want to taste the natural flavors of the food, instead of just sodium.

Everything at this place is awesome. Their sandwiches are very good, I especially like the chicken parm. The specials are always good, too, maybe on the pricey side though, but I usually go for the pizza anyway. Pizza is very thin, and the sauce is on point. Even the bread they serve is very good(from Nicolo’s in Montclair). I could eat here once a week.

This place is absolutely delicious top-quality . Extremely friendly staff awesome place to take family or just go with friends for lunch but Unfortunately I had a very poor experience today decided to take the family to try it out so with that being said took a ride up. Since I been bragging about this joint. So with us getting in the place we asked for a table of three young girl said sit anywhere you like we said ok went to go sit down and then they Denied us to sit at the table we wanted too due to a party coming in at 130 when it was 11:30 asked us to sit outside now it’s the middle of December !!! I’m very aware they have heaters out side but I did not want to sit out sides nd the way the guy said take it or leave it like my money wasn’t any good we left !! I will no longer return to this place or tell anyone about this place it’s a shame they lost a loyal customer

Didn’t come here for the pizza which I have heard is very good. But all I have to say is «Oh My God». I was full by the time the entrees came to the table and I was still able to eat the rest. Great portions and awesome experience. I want to come back, like tomorrow.

Frank ants is a local Verona favorite. In the summer I frequented at least once every few weeks. The outdoor seating is really nice even though you have views of the avenue. Service is slow — but in a good way– it reminds you to enjoy your food and take a break from the fast pace of life in NJ. I have only had great experiences with the waiters and waitresses. My favorite favorite is the ricotta cavatelli with hot sausage. It is possibly the best meal On the menu. Frank ants is a little pricey but I believe if you pick the right items it is worth the price. Another favorite is the regular margarita pizza– they have whole wheat dough which is a little dryer than regular but an excellent option. I love how close this is to my house(I walk so no need to worry about the small parking lot). I am a very big frank ants supporter starting from their original location next to krausers on grove ave.

Had an amazing dinner at Frank Anthony ‘s last night. I’ve been there a few times and it is consistently great. The wait staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating and attentive. Food is excellent. It is not just basic Italian, its Italian food with a little twist. I had the special of the evening, veal scallopini rolled prosciutto sundried tomatoes in a roasted pepper sauce served on top of risotto with asparagus. The rest of the party had the cold and hot antipasto sampler. It was a real feast. Sat outside which made it a really nice evening

So I have been passing this place everyday on my way to work… Finally I decided to come here with my mom. Where do I begin? We sat outside(we seated ourselves) then the waitress came outside and was walking around us picking up for and knives from other tables and I thought she was going to put it on our table, but no walked back inside. On her way she said I’ll bring you menus, not even a hello. 5 min later comes w menus(mind u it wasn’t busy at all) we get our appetizer which was cold(eggplant trio) we couldn’t believe it was cold. Then I asked for Marianna sauce and waited about 15 mins for it. Food finally came chicken tasted microwaved. I know food and I know good service, given that I have been working at my fathers restaurant all my life. Sorry to say but someone’s service can kill your business. Will not be returning.

Frank Anthony’s…oh, Frank Anthony’s. I jogged past this place about a week before coming here. I was drawn to it by the gaggle of North Jersey 35 year old women who still drink, and act like they are 21, at the outdoor seating area. I ate here with my father and my sister. A quick description of each: My father could eat at Noma, and pick it apart brilliantly, and my sister could eat cold cold pasta with a can of tuna and tell you it’s the greatest meal you will ever eat. What I would consider a pretty fair jury when brought together. We were seated promptly, brought a bucket of ice for our Cava(father likes his Cava very cold, so he was happy about the gesture). The waiter then very eloquently described the specials, and a few minutes later took our orders. My sister ordered the Pasta Bolognese(for $ 21!), my father the Pork Giambotta and I ordered the Chicken Special. As the waiter walked away, my father, who is bald, started to feel an incessant dripping on his head, down the back of his shirt, and onto the table.(We sat at a table in the back right of the restaurant by the window.) We continued small talk for about 45 minutes when we realized we had been sitting for 45 minutes. We waited one hour and ten minutes for our food, and the best part? When the food came out we had to wait another 2 minutes for the Pasta Bolognese! Yes, I know 2 minutes in the grand scheme of all our extremely privileged lives is nothing, and Unilocal plays perfectly into that demographic, but since we’re all lucky enough to be in this situation, I can complain. 2 minutes when talking about food sitting in front of your face can be quite a while. Pasta Bolognese! I’m no Ferran Adria in the kitchen but I can guarantee you all who have read this far that I can make you a killer Pasta Bolognese in well under 20 minutes. That’s a Personal Guarantee. The food was a 6.5÷10. Nothing to write home about, but by no means bad. Considering the price point I would much rather eat at a Diner for under $ 10 and know i’m going to get ‘ok’ Italian food. As we were walking out my father turned to us and told us, «I hope they took a picture of me.» We both looked at each other perplexed and asked him«why?» He then answered, «If they ever want to see me again that’s the only way they will be able to do it.» To butter the bread, they forgot to give us bread.

Never Disappoints –we go their weekly and have grandmas pizza for the kids and we usually have one of the specials with a pear salad. A must have for dessert Is the funnel cake with chocolate syrup & ice cream. Parents usually try to sneak a few bites when the kids aren’t looking. Tony & the crew are very friendly and engage in conversation with the children As well. Reserve table online so you can assure yourself a reservation

The quest for good italian food continues. This place seems to have a lot of «regulars» which is fantastic, but it makes first-timers feel a bit left out when the manager/owner seems to talk to every table except ours. I’d go back, but not until I try a few other places.

Idk I see people giving this place rave reviews and I left thinking about what I could make myself at home later. Stopped in late afternoon for a bite and the service was hella slow. Like we were all starving and whats taking so long to place and order? The waitress insisted or at least tried to do things in rounds, like let me get waters, then drink orders(not even liquor bc they have BYOB but simple things like soda and tea,) then app orders then food. But no, we can do that all at once since we would like to leave here before spring hits! Calamari app was bland and even the sauce seemed like a sad ragu concoction. Buffalo chicken balls were interesting but I wish the waitress specified how many there were and maybe recommended to double the order since we had 12 ppl and 3 balls came… cool. My chopped salad, damn. I won’t even bore you but it was lame and I would have been better off eating a paper plate. I was starving tho so I ate it and apologized to my stomach. Others sandwiches looked ok but typical deli style. No pazazz or anything special. Oh well. And parking… seriously WTF. I’m going back home. I hate this state.

This is the second time we’ve been here in less than a week. The first time we ordered buffalo chicken balls that were delicious, a six item cold antipasto and the specialty pizza. Everything we had was great and we couldn’t wait to come back. Today we ordered the mussels and clams in spicy marina, calamari with hot cherry peppers and capers, soft shell crab francese and funnel cake fries. The soft shell crab dish was fantastic. It was one of the specials and we had a hard time deciding what to order because everything sounded so good, but we were really happy with our order. We had a groupon($ 40 for $ 80 worth of food). The bill came to $ 68 and they wouldn’t let us include the tip in that so we ordered the funnel cake fries and they were amazing. Byob, delicious food, great waitstaff

Went here for dinner with a $ 22 Groupon for $ 40 worth of food. Our first impression was that dining inside Frank Anthony’s definitely had more of a lunch feel than dinner feel to it. Bright lights and bottled drinks to go on the customer side of the counter, but in fairness, they do have outdoor seating, which I didn’t get to experience in February. That may change my opinion if and when I go back. With all the hype on Unilocal over the buffalo chicken balls, we tried them as an appetizer and found them to be a little dry. Good crispy breading, but just a little dry on the inside. Maybe that could be avoided if they shrunk them down a bit. Instead of giving me 3 big balls, maybe give me 5 small ones? The caprese salad was good. First time I ever had it with sun-dried tomatoes and roasted peppers, but those two elements added a nice touch, and the mozzarella tasted very fresh. The Frank Anthony signature pizza(sopressata, long hot peppers, and provolone) was delicious and not greasy. A small is plenty for one hungry person or two not-so-hungy people. I also liked the serving style(on a metal tray). We wanted to try the lasagne, but they were out so we went with the Veal special topped with ground sausage and served with polenta and bok choy. It was quite tasty, though the polenta was a little dry. Finally, the service was pretty good considering one waiter was running the whole show between the bar and dining room. Overall, I liked the food and service here, but the place just needs to clean up a bit. Literally. The menus were greasy. My wine glass was dirty. And there were paper towels all over the floor of the men’s bathroom.

This place is a perfect marriage of affordable prices, good prices and great service and atmosphere. In my dreams I would own something like Frank Anthony’s. Coming in on a Friday night at 7pm I would expect to wait for at least 30 minutes as the hostess told us but once going to the bathroom I saw that there were two empty seats at the«bar.» We asked and we received! The hostess sat us there quickly and we were in business! I say«bar» because the place is BYOB but they utilized the bar as the drinks station were they offer nonalcoholic beverages. Our bar seat faced two large tv screens with intermittently hockey and basketball displayed on them. Brian came by and greeted us and asked if we wanted him to open our bottle. He began with the daily specials which put a complete wrench in my meal planning. Because all of the specials sound amazing and we settled on one after much deliberating. The specials can be a bit overwhelming and you can ask the waitress to have a printed sheet. We began our meal with cold antipasto of 3 for $ 9! We got fresh homemade mozzarella, Reggiano Parmigiano and Prosciutto di Parma. Since the dish was so cheap I was thinking that we would get tiny little sampling of each, no sir! We got large helpings of at least 4 oz of each. I could easier make this a meal for myself. My boyfriend wanted to try their pizza and of course I wanted to steak. So we settled on half size Caprese pizza and the $ 30 T-bone steak. The pizza was the size of a 12 inch baking pan! I only wonder what the full size looks like. My boyfriend said the pizza was really good the ingredients tasted fresh. I didn’t have a taste because I was quite obsessed with the steak. The T-bone was a bone on 16oz steak served with bacon sautéed Brussels sprouts and potatoes au gratin. The whole dish was prefect but the steak was overcooked a little we asked for medium rare and got medium. I was ok with that so I didn’t say anything. After all of that food, I was stuffed but I really wanted the funnel cake fries and a coffee to close the meal. The serving of the funnel fries were massive! It was a regular plate with a mount of funnel fries, two scoops of vanilla, drizzled with chocolate syrup and topped with powdered sugar!!! I was in heaven, I think I got drunk from all the food but I did have a couple of glasses of wine. In total the meal came to $ 60 plus the bottle of wine we brought for like $ 7, what a wonderfully satisfying great experience at Frank Anthony’s. I can’t wait until the weather gets warmer outside and we can sit out on the patio!

I have been driving past Frank Anthony’s for years and never got around to trying it. Recently there was a deal available to purchase on Living Social, so we finally decided to give this restaurant a try. Upon entering, we were promptly greeted and seated. They offered to open a bottle of wine for us, but I didn’t realize that they were BYOB. I’ll have to bring a bottle next time. I love BYOB restaurants(keeps the cost down). They brought us our beverages along with bread and butter. My husband starting eating the bread and realized that the sesame seeds would get stuck in his«holes»(he just had oral surgery), so I asked the bus boy if they had seedless bread. He brought it right over. Being that it was our first time dining here, we wanted to try an assortment of menu items. We opted for the calamari as our appetizer. This is traditionally served with capers and peppers, which I don’t care for, so we asked if we could get it plain with marinara sauce. They were happy to oblige. The calamari was delicious! The flavor was absolutely amazing. It did not have too much breading, which made it perfect. The calamari was a gigantic portion, we finished it, but it would be much better if shared between more people. We ordered the half-size of the Chicken Pesto Pizza and the Rigatoni, Shrimp, & Broccoli entrée to share. The pizza is rectangular and the half-size has 6 slices. It had such a fantastic flavor to it. We would definitely order that again. The Rigatoni, Shrimp, & Broccoli was good. It only had 4 shrimp, albeit large shrimp, but at $ 22 I was expecting more. It had a decent amount of flavor, but both my husband and I agreed that the broccoli was the best part of the dish. We ended up taking leftovers home with us, as it was a ton of food for 2 people to share. Very friendly waitstaff. They kept refilling our water glasses(much appreciated). I think next time we dine here that we will give the sandwiches a try. They were nice and big.
