Salugo Bistro

I have ordered takeout from here at least 20 times. Everything is very fresh and delicious. I’ve ordered various pizzas, pastas, and soups. I recommend going for the margarita pizza as supposed to the traditional pizza. It is a little pricy, but it’s worth it.

Worst pizza ever!!! I was just delivered a pizza that was ice cold and 20 min late. Called and spoke to girl at rest she didn’t even care to apologize for late and cold delivery. Done with this overpriced restaurant. Will call frank anthony and be much happier with their superior quality and attention to detail and customer service.

This might be he best Italian meal I’ve ever had! Excellent food and service. Definitely recommend going there for a delicious meal!

Terrible. I expected more being that Salute and Fin in Montclair are outstanding. Every restaurant in Essex county seemed to be booked and filled with people we could not get a table anywhere. I have lived in Verona my whole life and decided to try Salugo being that it was empty when we drove by. Now I know why it was empty. Really a shame how under flavored everything was. We ordered three apps and two pasta entrees. Even the pasta was cold. The staff was really fantastic, probably one of the best waitresses I’ve ever had. Really a shame for them too. I hope you guys get a new cooking staff. I will NEVER be back!

I am giving one star because this place is not very good with customer service. I ordered through the Unilocal ordering system a few times. The first time was great, no problems, the second time I chose delivery and it took an hour and 20 minutes to deliver, no apologies when we called just a we are really busy excuse. The third and final time was tonight when I decided to pick up because it would be faster. When we arrived they told us they never got the order and that we should never use the Unilocal order system again. Again no apology, no customer service. When I asked if I could just cancel the pizza order because I know had to wait for it they informed me they couldn’t give me my money back. The pizza is good and that gets a star but I’m so disappointed in how they treated me I won’t be back.

Obsessed with their soup that I cannot pronounce with spinach, egg and broth! All their food is tasty and has us coming back for more!

Ordered a pizza that took well over an hour to be delivered less then a mile away. When it did show up, it was ice cold and I had to heat it in the oven. I could have went to the supermarket and bought a pizza for cheaper and quicker. The quality and service of this establishment has been steadily going down hill.

Came here twice for dinner on a weeknight. We had the same serve both times and he was very attentive and friendly. Most recently, I ordered the Galina which was chicken breast with a somewhat spicy sauce /​olive oil dressing with mushrooms and peppers. It was very good and I had plenty for leftovers the next day, however for me personally the dish itself probably could have done without some of the oil. The first time I ordered the shrimp which was not quite as memorable as the chicken, but was good none the less. Overall, good quality food but not «wow-​ing.»

Every time I walk into this pizzeria to eat, I am never disappointed. The décor inside looks and feels upscale and reminds me of a pizzeria in Soho. The staff are extremely friendly and a pleasure to deal with. The pizzas are flavorful and saucy. They are perfect. I don’t know authentic Italian pizza too well, I’m the NY slice lover, but this pizza is pretty damn good. Will come back here again soon!

Ordered chicken francaise to go… chicken had really strange texture to it… could have been an ‘off day’ because I have heard nothing but good things. gonna give it another chance soon…

Man… Let me tell ya, the first time I came here, I didn’t know what to expect. I was introduced to this place by my girlfriend a few months back & the food was magnificent. I have had the GF pizza (Girlfriend is GF) & it was freaking slammin’, the grilled & regular chicken panini, & penne vodka… The paninis had very juicy & tender chicken with arugula, tomatoes, & balsamic vinaigrette on this tasty ass piece of panini bread… Very wonderful staff.

This place is like your old school mom and pop restaurant in that they recognize you right away and even remember what you’ve ordered. But it is fairly modern and quaint in style so I would go dress casual. The prices are slightly high but the food is exceptional. I’ve never had a bad experience or meal. I’ve ordered the grilled chicken panini numerous times on the gluten free bread and it was phenomenal… only thing is they have changed their panini bread which was the best part of the sandwich… please Salugo bring it back! I’ve also had a chicken dish that was out of this world good. Also amazing gluten free pizza too! In fact I’ve tried gf pizza EVERYWHERE and nowhere even comes close to this place. Only thing I would gripe about is they could lower their prices a little.

The chopped salad with skirt steak is my new favorite meal! No idea what they marinate the steak in, but it is delicious! We’ve been here several times in the last few weeks and we’ll continue to make Salugo one of our top 5 choices for a great meal!

I have been meaning to try this place for some time. It is worth the hype based on my dish. The braggiole was amazing. Really great sauce. The staff was somewhat inattentive for a while, but then they finally realized we were getting annoyed and made up for it.
We will be regulars.

We started dinner with the Sweet Chili Calamari and Rock Shrimp. Prepared well with the perfect amount of heat. I had the pan seared salmon special with escarole which was so yummy!
I felt like indulging so I also ordered the mashed potatoes… OMG. the BEST I have ever eaten… they were prepared with cheese… so creamy and full of flavor! The atmosphere is comfortable and easy, great service, top notch food.

Got delivery… took about 45 – 50 mins. Got a salad and meatloaf with mash. It was average. For the price I expected a little more. Probably would be better if you ate there, though I’ve never been there. Delivery guy was very nice and ordering online was easy.

I hate to hit a small local place with 2 stars, but I wouldn’t go back. The food was over seasoned and saucy. For a small intimate place, it was entirely too loud. I found it to be a stressful experience. The offerings didn’t seem to match the restaurant. Also, for a somewhat abbreviated menu, I would expect everything on the menu to be perfect. Nothing was perfect. Nothing was terrible, except the noise, but nothing was spot on.
I don’t really want to go into all of the little things that were off, but suffice it to say there’s something missing — there didn’t seem to be a theme or specific dining purpose they were aiming for… Sorry so vague, I know what bothered me, but I don’t want to have to write my book here. I’ve given 2 stars to places that were definitely worse than this, but I’m having trouble giving a «3 stars — A-​okay!» to a place I wouldn’t go back to.

Met a friend there for quick dinner. Split a few items and they were both really good.
We started with the clams. They came in a spicy red sauce. Very nice. We then split the meatloaf very good and one order was more than enough for 2.
Bill was very cheap and service was fast and friendly we will go back.

I absolutely adored this place. Ordered the spaghettini, and it didn’t come in a gigantic bowl (like many other places). The bread they put on the side is neatly cut into wedges and you’re given a small tin of olive oil (which is a relief from the butter that is too often served up).
My only complaint was that the clam appetizer I ordered had a little grit in EACH shell. I was afraid I was going to crack my teeth at one point. I also could have used some extra bread served with it to get up that delicious sauce.
BYO, and the tables are a little too close for my comfort.

Be careful when eating here. I ordered the chicken Milanese panini and the chicken was raw. I ate almost a full half before noticing it. It wasn’t good to begin with. The panini is not a panini it’s a flatbread. The bread has an overwhelming garlic taste to it and it is not pressed like a panini. There are too many good Italian pizza and sandwich places around here. Will not order from here again.
