This«A-OK» sandwich bistro is open to the public and very easy to miss. It is located inside of the Million Air terminal at Southern California Logistics Airport. They have a pretty good selection of your typical staple of common sandwiches(turkey, ham, pastrami, meatball sub) and sides(fries, chips, slaw, potato salad), snacks, fountain drinks, slushies, and ice cream cooler. They serve breakfast sandwiches as well. Cash and Credit accepted. This cafeteria may have some history tied to it as an active mess during the base’s military years, but I haven’t been around long enough to know. Most of the sandwiches have nicknames borrowed from jet fighter aircraft which famously served at George Air Force Base during its time.(Phantom, Starfighter, etc). The food is not bad, the service is good, but really the best thing about this place is its location for those who work at SCLA — it is the only public restaurant within a radius of several miles, the next closest places being on the corner of Adelanto Road and Air Base Road. A disadvantage however are their hours, only open 8A-3P. If they were open for dinner I’d easily give them an extra star — many companies based at SCLA work 2 or 3 shifts and it’d be nice for there to be locally accessible food to accommodate this. As a bonus, if you have an SCLA badge you can head out the back door and practice your skills on a putting green while you wait for your sandwich. It’s on the active flight line too so if you’re an airplane enthusiast you may see some activity.
