I live in NJ but work in Westchester County. J Café is my most favorite lunch spot. I try to stop in every day if I can and I drive from wherever I am over the bridge to eat there. The salads are incredible. The best ingredients!!! Also the service is always great. I get a build your own salad and choose my ingredients… I am addicted!!!

This morning, I wanted only an orange juice, I went to the J café and was drinking my juice and waiting to pay, after 6 minutes came a woman, didn’t say good morning, and told me she was not going to open the register, and she is not serving breakfast and asking me if I have the exact change to pay, and she was soooooooo unfriendly, after 3 minutes 2 other people came in and she served the people, this stupid employee lives from the people who comes in. The decoration looks so cheap, the menu is not inviting at all, I went to the J café, because I was walking to work, not other reason, really not inviting at all, the other woman is not nice either, at least, she tries to be polite, if could give Star-, I would do it!

I really enjoyed j café, I ordered the turkey sandwich that has cranberry on it and goat cheese, I thought it was excellent. The ingredients all seemed freshly prepared, and I just really enjoyed the comfortable atmosphere of the café. There is ample seating and it gives a relaxing vibe similar to starbucks, a great place just to sit and have coffee, and also have a good bite!

Terrible service– waited half an hour for three sandwhiches on a Sunday afternoon. When I complained the server gave me an attitude and didnt apologize for the wait. Im sure the food would have been ready faster had the employees not been hanging out with friends that they were busy socializing with. The food wasnt even worth the wait, I found a hair in my sandwich and my brother found a feather(yes a feather) on the lettuce of his cheeseburger. Do not waste your time or money here.

A great lunch spots. Huge salads, packed with flavor. Great sandwiches. Even a cool breakfast menu. Overall, this is a choice spot on Wolf’s lane.

I have been to J Café a few times, once with a friend and then twice with my now fiancé. All 3 times I got an omelette which was huge and full of yumminess! On my second visit there, my new fiancé had strategically placed people hidden in the back of the café and spoken with the staff asking for help with his plan. When i arrived, I ordered my food and sat at the bar in the window that they staff had kept open for us. Shortly after sitting down, my fiancé got down on one knee where he asked me to marry him! It was perfect! All of the patrons in the café were clapping and cheering and the staff were super helpful with the whole thing. J Café has become one of our favorite spots to go for breakfast!

good service, great selection of food, and nice atmosphere. i would give them a 4, but they did not cook the hamburger as requested. i asked for medium-rare, but it came out well-done.

Had a lovely breakfast this morning at J Café! The lady who took my order at the counter was charming and offered me the Wi-Fi code when I asked if I could use my laptop to do some work. We also joked that work = online shopping! ;) I ordered a large tea which had two tea bags, which was a great treat. I had scrambled eggs(nicely done), a sesame bagel with raspberry jam(super yummy!), and breakfast potatoes which had onions and pepper and were nice and crispy. Everything was under $ 9! Lovely experience and the next time I have an oil change at the place down the block I look forward to eating there. :)

J café has become a part of my routine on Wednesday mornings. It’s a lovely place with lovely staff especially Liz and Fani both are extremely sweet and attentive. I have nothing but great things to say and usually recommend this place to everyone. Last Friday was a different I went in a little earlier and the usual girls weren’t there I was helped by the owner and ordered a large order I was with 4 people. When my order came out it was not what I had ordered so I told him he was rude and argued with me and tried to convince me I had ordered the plate in front of me. Ultimately he took the plate back and bought out a new one. I understand we all have off days but as a business owner he should have known better. I love this place but my recent experience is the only reason why I’m not giving it 5 star.

This place is alright, all in all. To be honest, there’s not much when it comes to casual dining on this side of Pelham. They do have some good options. However, they have a few disappointments as well. The biggest point for me is that they really don’t know how to make an omelette. Rather than mixing the veggies into the eggs, it’s like they just throw them on top and fold. Huge miss. Phone service is also not very good, they’re not IMpolite, but they’re not friendly either, and calls are always rushed, unless(who I believe is) the owner takes the call. Otherwise they do not provide a wait time and I’ve been hung up on several times before I could ask. The café itself is nice, they have outdoor service in the warmer weather. They do have some good burger and salad options. Again, overall a decent place, and I do order on occasion, but I would frequent more often if they had higher standards.

This café belongs to that vanishing breed of cafes where you are greeted like a human being, served real food, and invited to listen to good music and relax.

This place is an answer to those who want to rest with the cappuccino or work on their free Wi-Fi in the afternoon. it also has the best hamburger in the area, and you can get it without a bun(if you want) with loads of additions, for no extra price. There’s never any rush, and if you come in the morning or when the lunch crowd is gone, you will really appreciate the easy vibes at J’s. The breakfast menu is there all day, and it’s truly fresh and made to order superbly. for The customer. I’ve gone there time and time again and never have gotten bored with the selections. The salads are healthy and fresh, and also made to order. If you want to enjoy good and healthy food, and take a breather, this is the place.

This place makes the best salads. You can customize your salad, which is what I do. They have lots of options too. Price isn’t too bad for size of the salad when you take it to go. Ordered a muffin too and was kind of burned at the bottom. I didn’t love that as much as the salad.

We won’t be going back for breakfast. Lots of things wrong in this place were noticed as a pair of first timers. From the staff, it seems that after taking our order, they were more concerned with texting or munching. Our food took over 20 mins to come to the table when there were only 2 orders in front of us. It was 10:15 on Sunday. I ordered a western omelette with toast. It came out with the egg part sitting on top of raw, barely cooked ham, peppers and onions. She ordered a panini, with Brie cheese as one of the ingredients, they sliced her about a ½″ of the rind. We watched them bring the potato chips out from the fridge?!? In a clear food storage container with plastic wrap on top, this made these chips absorb moisture and you could almost fold them over like a soft taco. We would have complained to the staff but no one bothered to come over and ask«How is everything?» Answer me this, why would I bother going back to a place that clearly doesn’t like making good food or trying to provide good table service? Two stars because someone at least cared enough to spend some time decorating the place, however, their choice of Sunday staff leaves a lot to be desired!

This location has changed hands multiple times in the past ten years, but J Café is my favorite reincarnation of the business. It is a very reasonably priced café with awesome breakfast and lunch menus. Coffee refills are FREE and the service is really genuinely friendly and attentive. Pricing is reasonable and it is walking distance to/from the train station — super convenient for a quick coffee and pastry on the way to your morning commute! I would recommend the cappuccino-chip muffin for a quick and tasty treat.

When we moved to Pelham a year ago, JCafe was called the MAD Café. We saw this as a sign of good things to come: our newborn(literally, two days old), Michael’s, initials are MAD. My two experiences there were fine, but nothing particularly noteworthy. Then, a few months ago, the owner of the MAD Café announced that new management would be taking over. Apparently, the new owner saw the restaurant as an opportunity to pay homage to his sons, too … the J in JCafe refers to their first names. After a bad experience at a local diner, my fellow mommy friend and I decided to have our weekly breakfast here. To our(delighted) surprise, the experience was fantastic: a huge, fluffy omelet stuffed with smoked salmon and goat cheese, streudel crusted french toast sticks and fresh muffins comprised that first meal. Everything was delicious. I returned. Many times. With many people. Because … … the salads are HUGE(I literally watched my mother-in-law eat her BLT salad for 20 minutes and not make a dent) … they are also delicious(from the standards like the Cobb, to a make-your-own) … the staff is awesome … and flexible(like putting the Thai Chicken Salad into a wrap for me, and not charging extra for little things like pickles) … FREEICEDTEAREFILLS!!! … the Dosa. You must have it. It’s FANTASTIC … WiFi(seriously, I almost wish I had a full time job so I’d have an excuse to go spend several hours there while I get my work done) Bottom Line: Go there. Soon. Preferably now.

I have to say, this is a huge improvement over MAD Café. The staff is very friendly and the space is much more inviting. The dosas are quite good, as is everything else I’ve tried. I’m particularly fond of their black and white cookies, which I’ve heard they get from The Bread Factory in New Rochelle. Their free WiFi is fast, which makes this my go-to place when I need a spot away from home to work. My only complaint is their hours. I think they’d do quite well open until 9pm or so. Also, if you’re driving, nearly all nearby parking is metered or on a two hour limit weekdays.

This place recently opened in the space that was previously occupied by MAD Café. The menu is basically the same. The hours seem to be the same as well. The décor has been spiffed up, streamlined. Service was good. New owners, same kinda place. That said, my Croque Monsieur was tasty and my partner’s French toast sticks were great. Hot cocoa was frothy and rich. I didn’t have a problem with the place before, and this new reincarnation is very familiar. I’ll be back.
