Delicious coffee. Definitely better than Starbucks. You can taste the homemade-ness and freshness in their coffee. Love it!

The atmosphere is very nice and relaxed, the coffee wasn’t very good though. How can you mess up an Americano?!

I can’t believe it took me this long to find Bad Ass coffee! After a day at the beach, my friend and I needed a coffee kick, so we stopped by here. Mark was so helpful during my visit! I ended up getting the almond mocha latte with almond milk. It was such a good combo and not too sweet! I can’t wait to come back and try more coffee and food!

Bad Ass is low key one of the my favorite local cafes in VB. Chill and even family friendly atmosphere. Everything I’ve tried here is good. They have really good drink & food selections. Fresh pastries, fruits, and coffee. Service here is always quick to answer your questions and everyone here is friendly. This was the first time I ever had Lox and it was sick!

Bad Ass Coffee makes me sad. It makes me sad because we don’t have anything like it at home(SWVA), just an over abundance of Starbucks, not that I’m hating on Starbucks, it’s been good to me, but now that I know there’s better out there, it’s hard to go back to the other stuff. We found this place through Unilocal reviews, thank you fellow reviewers. I got the Nutty Irishman(Irish Crème and Hazelnut) and my love got the Snickerlicious latte with coconut milk. Both drinks were perfect; not too sweet, good temp, real flavor. BAC had lots of other good flavor combinations you should check out… dark chocolate and orange, coconut & chocolate, dark and white chocolate, et cetera. We also had the gluten free chocolate zucchini bread which was quite tasty, but I’m going to try to recreate it at home with apple sauce instead of banana as it has a strong banana flavor, but not unpleasant. So, coffee lovers, visit Bad Ass Coffee and make your taste buds smile. In a world of Starbucks, we need more Bad Ass Coffee.

I like the decoration at bad ass. I feel very much tropical. Coffee is good but lack of a punch. I guess I drink black coffee too much. Their coffee is tasty none the less. Food is good too. I put a bit too much of the vinegar said from the siracha thai chicken salad. My advice for this dish is make the dressing with peanut butter with it. It is very weird to have the peanut butter by itself.

This place offers the best coffee in the US, and by the best I mean, the most flavorfully brewed coffee beans(Kona of Hawaii — a concept that I was glad to be introduced to) I tried the dark chocolate orange coffee and was pleasantly surprised because it’s not your typical starbucks-vanilla-pumpkin-spiced-cinnamon-unicorn-trying-too-hard coffee!

Found this great little coffee joint while vacationing on the beach. Great atmosphere, polite and helpful employees and the coffee and food were outstanding. Perfect spot for breakfast.

These people don’t mess around at coffee. A few years ago, when I was young and not used to good coffee, I had them remake a beautiful drink because I was weak and couldn’t handle four shots of espresso. I now know that espresso heals the soul. I love the caramel wave drink and the vegan(and non-vegan) goodies. The cheese danish is a gift from above. This nice guy Mark is always there and I think we’re friends now. Bad Ass Coffee is the bomb.

Let me start off by saying I am NOT a coffee drinker, so I can’t really comment on that, though they seemed to have a decent variety. I came here during a break at a conference in the convention center. I got one of their yogurt fruit bowls and a drink. Seemed reasonably priced and everything was delicious. I’d definitely come here again.

My first time in here. I’ve worked at the beach since last August and finally have made my way to this diamond in the rough. I always heard about it but never have seen it. Well I was really wanting some great coffee so I Unilocaled it and got directions. Not disappointed at all. The 3 lovely ladys working were amazing. Very helpful and even may be getting them to come try my food sometime. I got the nutty Irishman, because well I’m Irish and love anything with that twist on it, just freaking amazing I can tell you. And for the breakfast bagel sandwich, best down at the beach I promise. So great I’ll definetly be back everyday I open Repeal. So amazing

I absolutely love Bad Ass. It’s become a regular spot for my best friend and I before the beach on warmer days. I usually get the«Dawn Patrol» breakfast sandwich(breakfast is available all day) and an iced latte. I’ve forgotten the name of my favorite drink, but it’s a latte with banana and chocolate syrup. Every drink from their flavored latte menu that I’ve tried has been great-the Oodalolly is also a favorite. They offer wraps/sandwiches for lunch as well. I’ve tried a couple of their scones and other baked goods; everything was delicious. I believe it’s all homemade from scratch. Several Paleo options were available during my last visit. The staff is very friendly. I like the homey vibe although I wish it was a bit more spacious; seating fills up fast. There is a parking lot with only a few spaces, but I’ve parked in the shopping center directly across from Bad Ass when no spaces were available. Definitely stop in if you’re in the oceanfront area!

It was a dark and stormy afternoon in Virginia Beach, and the wind was enough to rub a chill straight up and down one’s bones. This was a day for blankets, books, and good coffee. Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii maybe wasn’t the nearest coffee shop to the blue dot, but after some quick research revealed this was a Hawaiian coffee joint, it would be worth the extra mile. Bad Ass is an international chain, and this is the only Virginia location. And actually, during my whole time in Hawaii I never made it to one because they aren’t on Oahu. Maybe a little too overdone as far as island décor, but then again I would opine one can never have too much Aloha in any business. I was so taken aback I had to buy a mug, and what a pleasant surprise to find my coffee was free with that purchase. Mahalo! Went with the standard Kona, which was of course, phenomenal. The drink menu is extensive, and Bad Ass also serves food. Yes, I may have found my favorite new coffee shop in VA Beach.

I’m a daily coffee drinker who happens to be obsessed with Hawaiian roasts. I got a fresh cup of their Kona blend with steamed soy milk. And let me just say this cup of coffee was in fact… dare I say it? BADASS.

Not bad at all. I accidentally parked in the back and FORGOT to use my 15% off check in offer! GRRRRR Anyhooo, walked in, no one said a word. Hmm I see a sign«Order Here» & someone acknowledged me & was very friendly. I asked for quiche of the day and was directed to the board. I’m not one on fancy drinks. I ordered a cup of their house coffee and Broccoli & Cheese Quiche of the day. When my entrée arrived, it looked extremely small. When I took the first bite, I was definitely impressed. Don’t let the looks fool you. It was thick & had a good balance of consistency and flavors. The fresh fruit and spinach were a perfect complement especially, after a long run on the boardwalk. The entrée was refreshing, warm, and a nice treat. The price was a little more than I personally like to pay for breakfast but, worth it!

I’ve been to Bad Ass Coffee a few times now and have never had a bad experience, nothing amazing either though. Their coffee is good, albeit a little pricey. They have a lot of latte flavor choices which is usually my go-to. As for their food, I’ve only tried their pastries which all have been good. They offer a lot of gluten free options, which is always nice. If I’m in the area or at the farmers market, I will stop by. It’s probably not a place that I would go out of my way for though.

Small lot fits about 6 cars. I saw some patrons park somewhere across the street. I’ve been here once. Order a tropical smoothie which was both pricey and delicious. I really had no idea what to expect with the Popeye Pie but I was impressed with my order. The spinach an cheese quiche was delicious. And it even came with fruit and spinach. Yummy. 100% Kona coffee here. A huge variety of coffee beverage options. they serve Bullet Coffee.

Bad ass coffee? Maybe. Bad ass, chai? Not so much. I drove out of my way before leaving VA Beach just because I saw this place on Unilocal.I loved everything about it from what I saw from the fun name, to the cool, Hawaiian surf inspired digs. And all that stuff lived completely up to my expectations. It’s just the chai. The chai made me sad. I ordered it iced, but it was so sweet and tasted watered almost immediately, even before stepping outside. And for that to me my travel drink, I was disappointed. And since that’s all I ordered this time around, it’s all I’ve really got to go by for now. But the staff was friendly enough and I just love how cute the space so I will definitely give it another go some other time when I’m in town because I really want to like it more than I did.

New cities and places! On to the Unilocal blast for the week! lol So, Amber M and I have moved temporarily to the soggy coastal town of Virginia Beach, and are always on the lookout for cool new places to experience. This one, however, did not quite stack up with what I was expecting. Being close to the beach is always a plus, and maybe it was boohoo on me for not being familiar with the geography, but I felt like this place was a little hard to find. Oh well, not a big deal. We turned up to a very cozy looking shack of a coffee shop, with a very small ordering and waiting area. I dig the Hawaiian vibe, but was not so confident in the fetus baristas behind the counter. I’m not saying younger folks can’t craft a great cup of joe, but the look of them heavily hinted that they were more into their Instagram feeds than their shot pour times.
The clientele was mixed, and the entertaining awkwardness of the blind date behind us made it easier to wait for our drinks. I always order a soy cap with a raw sugar as a standard for an indie coffee shop; if you can handle that, you’re usually capable of more challenging things. That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised if our tween baristas came from a certain siren-esque training regimen. I basically was handed a slightly foamy(and that’s being nice) latte. Also, I had to go up to the cream bar and get my own sugar. I’m not above doing some work. At my house, but in a service setting this is unacceptable. When I worked for the big bean shop, I always was attentive to whatever the customer wanted, even if I had to get something from the back to make it happen. Pure laziness. Apart from that everything was fine. The music was good, and I didn’t feel any pressure to leave after finishing our drinks. Would I go back? Probably not. If there isn’t anything better in the area, I’d rather take the time to just make a french press in the morning and be on my way. Cheers!

The name of this place gets 5 stars. No better name than this, right? Décor also gets 5 stars– I LOVE the beach-y feel and theme, who doesn’t?! Choices, flavors, and taste of their coffee get 4 stars. I’ve had the Snickerlicious Latte twice and LOVE it. I don’t need to add a single thing to it, and that is SO not the case for me at other coffee joints– I am forever adding more creamer, sweeteners, flavors, etc. Food here gets 3 stars from me. It’s good, but on the pricey side. I had the Lox bagel and as good as it was, I feel that for seven dollars and some change, it was steep and should have come with a side or something. I’ve had Lox bagels at other facilities, and they tasted just as good, and were less expensive. I would definitely come back here for their coffee! :)
