Over the past few months I’ve eaten here quite a few times. I immediately fell in love with the Steakhouse Brisket Salad. The brisket was always cooked perfectly and the salad and dressing were a perfect compliment. The past two times I’ve attempted to contact them during normal business hours have yielded really disappointing results. The first time was a few Saturdays ago. I called the first time around 7PM, they claim to be open till 10PM on Saturday, with no luck. I decided to wait until 9PM before calling again, thinking they were simply busy with the dinner rush, once again no luck. I just got done calling at 6:50PM Monday only to have the owner, I believe it was her from her voice, a usually a terrifically lovely and helpful person, bluntly tell me that they were not open tonight. She then proceeded to hang up without any explanation. I also work in the food industry, specifically at a café and catering establishment, and it’s my very personal opinion that this is not the way to treat a customer. I understand things happen but at the very least you owe your clients a reason for why you are not going to be open during normal business hours. It will probably be a long time before I try to order from these people again which is extremely disappointing considering how exquisite the food really is.

How convenient. It’s next to Onelife Fitness, my second home. I’m not sure how long these folks have been around but it’s taken me forever to give them a shot. A friend and I popped in the other night for take out and walked into a place that had a beautiful aroma of smoke. This very friendly lady who I assumed to be the owner greeted us and talked about all the specials. Being Filipino I was automatically drawn to the adobo which she said she had a brand new batch made. Done deal. $ 5 gets you a nice sized piece of chicken and rice. $ 10 gets you three pieces and is certainly enough to feed two people. We added three pieces of beef lumpia and made it a take out night. It’s not your Filipino adobo taste but pretty darn good. Two thumbs up for the taste all around. The place is a bit small so I wouldn’t suggest it as a place to go for groups. They have some bar seating to the right and three or four table tops that sit four each. One thing I like is the dim lighting. It’s a great fit for a Kahuna environment!

This place is tucked away in a strip mall. We found it via Unilocal! The storefront doesn’t do the food inside justice. The pork was amazing! Full of flavor and melt in your mouth delicious! I got the brisket with mashed potatoes and loved every bite! The hush puppies were perfect. Everything we tried was cooked to perfection. The flavors are dynamite! We will be back!

Big Kahuna has quickly become a family favorite. The pulled pork is delicious, the roasted chicken really juicy and the brisket incredibly tender and flavorful. Portion sizes here are very generous. The cornbread is awesome and comes in huge slabs. My family loves the hushpuppies as well. I bounce back and forth between the 2 barbeque sauces; one traditional and one more like a Heinz 57 in color and flavor. I’m a fan of the sweet potato casserole, but it’s not as sweet as many out there. there are many more sides and desserts we haven’t sampled yet, but we’re on a mission to get there!

I can’t stop! I’m so addicted. To this little place! Try the jalapeño poppers! And chicken is so sinful!

Unbelievably good brisket. The collards were the best I’ve ever had and I have been to BBQs all over NC. Easily competes with any BBQ place in the 757 area. A must go if you want an awesome lunch

We have eaten there once a week since they opened and will continue to do so. We eat very healthy and try to stay fresh/organic as much as we can and this is one the places we feel fits our«eating out» needs. My favorite so far is the beef brisket, hush puppies, and the White Chocolate Macdamia Cheesecake Bar. Finally, having experience with running a local business we will continue to support local businesses before we choose franchises!

Yum! I really hope this restaurant makes it, their food is really good! We have had the beef brisket, yum especially with a little horseradish dipping sauce! The Cobb salad is great, the hush puppies are so yummy! We have loved everything we have tried so far! Visit this restaurant, you won’t be disappointed!

The first thing you’re going to notice when you walk in, is the wonderful smokey smell! I had ordered the pulled pork, which the chef was kind enough to put a little slaw on, just the way I like it. The bread was fresh, the meat was hot and the flavor was wonderful. I also had the Corn Bread side which was prepared in what I call«Northerner» style(aka, TASTY and SWEET). The baked beans… were well… insanely hot(temperature wise, not spicey) and not the most flavorful things I’ve had. While the pork was the star, the hush-puppy side(which was just a bonus) was a wonderful bonus compliment to the meal. No fountain, so you’ll have to make due with cans of soda, I think they could do with some 20oz bottles. Overall, the food was insanely flavorful, I’ll be back again and look forward to seeing how the restaurant progresses(this was their second day open, I look forward to seeing what else they do!) Brilliant.
