I ate here with friends last night. The service was great. We had called ahead to sit at a table outside on their patio. The table was set up for us when we arrived. The cocktails are a bit expensive $ 12 each, but the entrees are not overly pricy. I got the lamb chops for the second time in a row and they were good. Last time I felt that there was much more truffle oil than this time. I love the taste of truffle oil and that is why I ordered the dish again, but I could only taste it slightly, as if there was only a incredibly light drop or two on the plate. Everyone else in our party was incredibly happy with their meal. My boyfriend had one of the burgers and was very satisfied.

Great Friday lunch experience. The atmosphere is upscale from most lunch settings. The service was timely and attentive. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I loved the spinach side — outstanding seasoning and perfect doneness. The price is right. Do yourself a favor and try this outstanding restaurant.

Came for dinner with my friend and the waiter gave us the special. Appetizer: the Cobalt I got the Mahi Mahi with asparagus and mash potato. She ordered the scallion and shrimp. Prices were decent but I wish they poured little more wine in the glass. Didn’t expect it to be a small amount of wine in a large cup. Other than that, nice mellow environment. Loved it. Will return again for the lunch experience.

We celebrated my mom’s birthday here this past Monday evening, thanks to my parents desire to be frugal and a REALLY old coupon. I scoped Unilocal to see if they had any happy hour specials, which they do. Bottled beers(no drafts here) are about $ 1 off, mixed drink specials and food specials are offered. To take advantage, you have to sit in the bar, bar area or outside on the patio. There’s plenty of seating in these areas, but I wasn’t too keen on having to stare at the backside of the hostess during our entire meal, especially when the entire bar area was practically empty when we arrived around 5:15pm. Our server/bartender was very friendly and knew the menu well. We ordered drinks(bottled beers all around!) and our meals. My parents both tried seafood — a rockfish special and the tuna, which they raved about. My fiancé had the smokehouse burger, which he enjoyed. The accompanying cajun chips, however, didn’t seem to be too fresh and weren’t very crispy. I ordered the chopped salad, which was ok — lettuce, cheese, bacon, pistachios. It was about the size of a side salad and with price tag of $ 9.95, was very underwhelming. I also had a cup of their soup of the day — meatball, pancetta and white bean, which had a layer of oil on top and was far too salty for my taste. Though the service was friendly, I wasn’t impressed enough with the food(and the prices that go along with those meals) to return. After walking through the restaurant, it definitely has an upscale«Hilltop» vibe, with a dimly-lit dining room. It seems to be a good place to savor a glass of wine and a lamb chop meal, but that’s just not me.

I have been going to Cobalt for about 5 years now. Happy Hour is my favorite. The Kobe Beef app and the truffle fries are a MUST have! I bring everyone I know there for happy hour. I love all of the staff and the chef/owner is pretty amazing as well. I love seeing Alvin walk around at least one time during every visit and greet most of the guests. Ive only been able to attend one of the wine dinners so far– but it was also absolutely amazing. Cobalt is a GEM in virginia beach and if you have not been and you have a LOVE of GOOD food… you need to go. :)

I love the atmosphere here. The food is amazing, especially the burgers. The staff weren’t the friendliest. Overall i would recommend this place.

My wife and I ate off the restaurant Week menu on a Thursday evening. The restaurant was about ½ filled but got busier during the next hour or so. My wife had the chicken penne, it was good. She had enough left to take some home. I had the pork loin dinner and it was also good. The chops were prepared as requested and were flavorful. Our server, Cameron did a great job and had a good sense of humor. We have dined here before and will return.

So because I had been here before, I highly recommended this place for my sister’s birthday celebration two days before Valentine’s Day. I told her about the cozy, intimate, swanky, loungey feel to it and she was immediately sold. She didn’t make reservations but for a party of 5 and a half at 5:45 pm we didn’t think it would be a problem. My sister in law arrived first and was asked if there were reservations made. After she replied«no,» a waitress seemed annoyed and with a slight puff replied, «let us set something up for you.» What was there to set up when the place was EMPTY when the rest of us showed up 10 minutes later. I couldn’t understand what all the wait was about. I just felt a bit uncomfortable and awkward just standing there waiting for I wasn’t quite sure what. Moments later we were brought to a round table near the back with a high chair for my niece, which was nice. I don’t quite remember the waitress’ name but I remember she was pleasant and attentive. I noticed a couple of other parties in booths enjoying meals and conversation. I also noticed two other parties with kids slightly older or the same age as my niece. To be expected, the menu isn’t kid friendly but our waitress also didn’t offer any simpler alternatives for a 2 year old(no «Buttered noodles or fries for the little one?»). Birthday Girl, my son, and I ordered their shrimp and scallop risotto because I raved about it on the drive there, and that was the only thing I wanted. And for $ 28, I expected it to be just as divine as the other two times I’ve had it. I was a bit disappointed when it came out and although it looked delicious,(and I did finish it, btw, because cmon — $ 28!) I was not impressed with the quality of the risotto. It was undercooked, making it kind of chewy and sticky in between my teeth when I tried to eat it. Insert sad face here(). What made up for the meal was the shrimp and scallop. They were jumbo sized with matching flavors. Those made me happy. I don’t remember bread being offered and I don’t even think we ordered any appetizers. Our meals didn’t come with the usual salad or soup option but that’s ok because I determined to devour every bit of my $ 28 risotto, remember? My mom ordered the Yellow Fin Tuna Filet($ 23) and as soon as she got it I could see the look of disappointment. She had whispered to me she was already hungry again because the portion was rather tiny! Haha. Sister in law ordered their classic burger and I was envious of the huge serving and tasty French fries she let me steal. As mentioned earlier, I have been here a couple other times times and was really excited about celebrating my sis b’day this particular night. For some reason it just wasn’t happening. Not sure if Cobalt will be a place I’d recommend anytime soon but I will definitely come again if I was invited by friends or what have you. I was left with a twinge of disappointment esp for the price we paid for our meals and lack of enthusiasm from the host and hostesses at the host stand. Maybe I should give them a pass because it did begin to snow that evening and we didn’t make a reservation? But hey, they should have been happy patrons were still coming into their establishment even during crap weather. We could have easily picked another place. Note to self: sometimes simple dishes are the most satisfying. Must order burger and fries(if there’s a) next time!

I really enjoy the superb dining experience they provide. I’ve tried many things on their menu to include sesame seared scallops, Cobalt bleu burger, the Hangover, and this evening, calamari, the New Zealand lamb and Maple Leaf Farms duck breast. When it come to that list, I have nothing but great things to say. The only exception would be the calamari that tasted either packaged or over fried. I would recommend the burger choices when going in for lunch and the nice meals in the evening. The lamb was tender and juicy and duck breast was very moist and easy to eat. A nice sweet addition to the duck dish is the chutney that I found to be really sweet without the feeling of lots of sugar. Highly recommended!

I came here one Tuesday night after work to treat myself. The interior is gorgeous. Bar, fancy décor, intimate, clean, and spacious. I was seated in the bigger section in a corner seat. My waitress greeted me and told me of the specials they were having. I ended up getting the Scallops Rockefeller(spinach, bacon, and cheese) for starters. Can I just say damn cause these blew my socks off. Pretty much licked the plate clean off that one. It has just the right amount of bacon. For entrée I got the Smokehouse Buger cooked medium. It was alright. The bread was dry and patty didn’t have much flavor going on. I had to ask for condiments and Sriracha on the side. I had a nice quiet dinner. They offer a nice selection of drinks and wine. They have wine Wednesday half off select bottles and have live music on certain days. I will probably be back here on a date.

So many times when you buy a Groupon it is for a marginal restaurant or one that is struggling financially. We did not get this feeling with Cobalt’s. We started our meal with a special appetizer of burrata cheese & tomatoes with pesto and it was delicious. Burrata is one of our favorite soft & creamy cheeses and the pairing with the pesto tasted amazing. My wife had the pork loin and I had the ribeye steak. The pork loin was very tender and juicy, topped with a bing cherry compote. Delicious! It also came with gnocchi in a cream sauce and vegetable spaghetti that was also wonderful. My ribeye was perfectly prepared medium rare and was tender and delicious too. The fresh cut french fries were server hot and were amazing. We definitely will be back for more!

Made reservations and had a date night with my boyfriend. Got a there a bit early and sat by the bar. Finally sat down, waited about 20 min for our waiter to get to us, but it was on the busy weekend. We had a fancy dinner: we ordered a bottle of wine, calamari for appetizer, he ordered the shrimp and scallop risotto, which was sooooo good, and I had ordered the New Zealand Lamp chops, which I loved. We both loved how the food was prepared, not too salty and not undercooked, just perfect. Which we both devoured the whole entire dish. It was recommended by our waiter, who was very informative and helpful. We ended our dinner with something sweet, the molten chocolate cake, which came with vanilla ice cream and a few fruits. The night ended sooooo good. We were very pleased and will definitely come back for more! *I recommend getting reservations, the place is a bit petite, and with no reservations you might have to wait a bit longer.

Good food rotten service!!! The one good bartender is Katrina. If she’s not working be prepared to wait!!! Not even so much as a nod from the bartender. WOW how rude! Guess they don’t want a good tip

I will have to say that this place is legit. The only reason they are getting a 4 is because of the bread and service. The bread was obviously pre-made and thrown in the oven. Our waitress wasn’t the best but our meal and appetizers were fantastic. We had the baked flounder with fresh lobster on top. That sat on some fresh mash that was super tasty. The dream sickle was a great drink and reminded me of my childhood orange pop sickles. I will definitely be heading back.

Excellent.

Came with a groupon. I can see why they’re offering a groupon deal because their location is less than ideal. It’s a nice shopping center, but it’s a place you can’t see from the road and probably wouldn’t notice until you meant to go there. I imagine the groupon is helping to get the word out, which is good because their food is awesome. For appetizers we had fried calamari(perfectly cooked and seasoned) and the hot goat cheese plate with olives, garlic and toast points(well prepared and seasoned very well). Both were finished very rapidly. For dinner we both got burgers. I had the steakhouse(bacon, Gouda, onion straws) and my husband had the cobalt(bacon and bleu cheese). Both cooked perfectly as ordered. Good hand cut fries. Fun presentation on squares of butcher block. Friendly servers, though we were seated near the food pickup window at the kitchen and all of the servers were congregated there for most of our meal talking. It didn’t really bother us, but it could bother others I suppose. Drinks were highly priced($ 12 cocktails, didn’t order, husband had bottled beer for $ 4.50).

Clean, friendly, romantic ambience. A colleague referred this place to me, and he spoke highly of it. My boyfriend and I came here for lunch, just to try out the menu before coming here for an actual dinner. The lunch prices were reasonable, the service was friendly, the setting was romantic, and the food tastes fresh and amazing! I am definitley coming here for dinner one day, but make sure you make a reservation first!

Came here for a dessert with my girl who speaks highly of this place. Keep in mind this visit was only for dessert and noting else. We sat at the bar, it was not busy on a Monday night. First off the bar has a strange smell coming off of it. Kinda like I was sitting next to a lagoon, something needed to be washed for sure. Not present to take in while you look at the otherwise nice establishment. The crème brûlée sampler was great, shared it with my date who’s kinda crazy but I love her. However the tiramisu, was anything but a pick me up it was a put me down! I have never experienced a tiramisu then I had to literally pushed down my spoon to break the lady fingers underneath it’s like they weren’t even coated and there was hardly any espresso flavor to be had! This dish was on special but it was anything but special it was like a bad dream that I was invited to that was insult to my culture and my people of Sicily! JKJK not that serious but it was fucking horrible. I like sharing my deepest darkest thoughts about food because literally this made me feel deep and dark inside as I ate it because it was not made properly and it should not be on the menu but I still ate the whole thing, because I’m a fat fatty after all. You may think I’m being harsh, but this dish, was pretty much murdered, No tiramisu in my life has ever had HARD lady fingers in it, which means it was pretty much preped right before coming out. This dish, which I have made many times myself, should always be allowed to sit and mix all the flavors together before being served. I will return to this location for an actual dinner, however Im not likely to sit at the Bar or order desserts.
